hi all. I recently got a? special emacine with Vista on it with AC 97? onboard sound. I was fearful of trying a "real" soundcard due to Vista and other things, I recently looked at the USB-dri'ven Li've 24bit, but was not so impressed which leads me to my question. I play only games on this computerathlon 3.8nvidia 8500gt.2 gigs ram.either a 300 or 350 power supply. there are TWO x-fi extremegamer cards, i see....the fatality 64bit version, a huge huge box.2...the creative older version, maybe 6 or 24 bit, of the extreme gamer. a small box. so which one, if any of the two, for my Oblivion, morrowind, two worlds, neverwinter and 2?!?I was heartened by reading that the power consumption of a sound card is somewhat small, but i wonderfor me if the smaller 6bit card would be 'safer" for me to use with my 300 or 350 watt power supply. or am i really better off with my ac 97 onboard with a later driver for it's!?thanks...freestoneMessage Edited by freestonew on 0-22-200806:4 PM

If it would be overkill for my system!?here Google and avsforum and all have nothing much to say. I did read that few games are supported, as you say. I just want something that will just "work" better than my ac 97 onboard, giving me better sound and a bit of fps help as an extra. I read that in Oblivion mod forums , on beth's site, why they tell of how onboard sound does not work so well with any sound-adding mods, in Oblivion, too too much to process. probably Vista will not even give to me EAX, but with my 2. denon system, even regular sound will be better. so I am happy to read this, thanks again.... freestone

Hi my name is Hajk and i got a friend that has a problem with her macbook, she gets a blue screen and cant log on. So i told her if she had an reinstall disk so that i could reinstall for her but she didn't get one with the macbook. what can she do ?
If this is a fairly new Mac running either v10.7 Lion or v10.8 Mountain Lion she can use Lion or Mountain Recovery to repair the startup disk or reinstall OS X.

It is outrageous that Appe deliberately does not enable TRIM support native to the OS to non Apple SSD drives automatically. Even worse is to cancel it after an update of the OS.
It is forcing anyone who does not add up to your greedy aftersales target to eventually experience trouble with their non Apple drives.

I love Apple but they do not need to go down such length to whatever are their aims.

I would not doubt getting one, there is always still the ThinkPad Yoga.
Both are great machines.
You should always take complaints with a grain of salt. I am talking from experience with my Yoga 13, plenty of complaints on the internet, but I have never been happier. I have none of the issues!

I've been thinking of getting a new computer and i've been doing a lot of research lately about the MacBook Pro, mainly just reading forums and reviews about it.
It's going to be my first MAC (i'm excited), but i do have a few worries about the whole thing.
See the thing is, the more i read about it, the more apprehensive i get about getting it. I read about all these problems with whining and screens flickering and heat and fan problems.
My question is, to those who have purchased MBP's, should i get it or not?
Are all these issues truly that bad, or is it the result of people being too demanding and unreasonalble in their complaints?Well, if i was in the states i probably would be talking on discussion board using my MBP, but im not.
I'm in Kuwait, and thats my main concern, if i do get one and it's defective or has a serious problem, then replacing it or even taking it to the apple store isn't as easy.
Thats why i want to be sure.
It's just that, as one user said before, rarely do people go on discussion boards if the are satisfied with a product, therefore you only get people with problems and complaints. And this bombardment of complaints gets you thinking that everybody with a MBP has had a problem, when in truth there could be thousands out there who have no complaints at all and are more than satisfied, and are simply surfing the web or listing to music or watching a movie or gaming, instead of coming into these discussions. -
