Should i get quicktime pro?

ok, i have a 60gb. i bought it so i could put full length movies on it. i want to take the movies from DVD to the itunes. i have been trying to use a DVD decrypter and videora for the past 2 days and it wont work. to use the decrypter, i have to save the decrypted video on my harddrive, which does not have any room left. so should i get quicktime pro? with that program do i have to save any large files on my harddrive? also, can i convert DVDs to my ipod. thanks.

It would hook up over USB, Firewire, or Ethernet.
You can get them at most computer/electronics stores.
They aren't extremely cheap.
Either way, you need storage to convert a DVD. If ext. HDs are too expensive (which they can be) then look at other options. You just need storage space to convert movies. QT Pro doesn't change that.

  • How can I get quicktime pro 7 running

I bought quicktime pro 7 a couple of years ago and have a registration code.  At the time I used the program to make some time lapse movies.  I'd like to make a couple of time lapse movies again but quicktime pro 7 is no where to be found.  This probably ha something to do with updating the os between then and now.  The question is how can I get quicktime pro 7 running again?  The unlocking instructions I have for quicktime pro 7 that I received with the key do not correspond with what the system preferences now show.  Any assistance would be appreciated.  I am currently running OS X version 10.9.5 on an older iMac.

Open the QuickTime 7 player(if it’s not installed, click here), choose Registration from the QuickTime Player 7 menu, and supply your key there.

Wonder if anyone can help? Have just bought a new Macbook pro and installed FCP7. I thought that I would get quicktime pro as standard but stuck with QTX. Downloaded QT7 but it won't let me install it. Says I can't do install as I already have QTX. Does FCP not come with QTpro or am I jsut being stupid. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.  B

  • Can't get Quicktime Pro to function!!????

Help. As with many other posts, I'm unable to get QT Pro to function. I did everything recommended perhaps 10 times to no avail (registration key, re-install, Quicktime 7...).
Perhaps there is an Apple Tech person somewhere out there who would like to help with this very curious, frustrating, vexing matter.
I'd love to be able to use the program but am about to give up.
Anyone out there from the Apple Corporation listening???
    thank you,
    Dave P.

    Aidan,
Wow, thanks for getting back to me.
There is just no functionality. The registration (after applying key etc, etc) shows "Quicktime Pro", but it's just nowhere to be found. The Quicktime player just basically remains a Quicktime player. Does that make sense?
    No crashes, no error messages
    again, thanks,

  • Cannot Get Quicktime Pro to work

I am a Windows user who is having difficulty believing there is no technical support for this product.
I have purchased QuicktimePro 3 times, trying to get it to work. It does not. I get my key, and enter it in the Quicktime applet in Control Panel, and when I hit "apply" it says I have QuicktimePro. But when I open the Quicktime player (latest version), it doesn't have any of the Pro features enabled, and includes ads at the bottom trying to get me to buy QuicktimePro (again). Then I go back into Control Panel and look at the Quicktime icon again, and it doesn't say "Pro" and doesn't have my registration information in it. I enter the key again and it takes, but if I close and reopen the applet, the registration info is gone again, and again, I have regular QuickTime player.
I have spent a great deal of money purchasing this update, and because the unlock won't "stick", I've been ripped off, and there is no one to even call to figure out what's going on. I have completely deleted Quicktime and reinstalled it, and that didn't make any difference. All I"ve done is pay for registration keys that don't even work in the program.
Is anyone familiar with this problem and is there any solution? Or, does anyone know how to contact a live customer service person to either solve the problem or get a refund?
    Thanks in advance.

    801greg,
hey greg i went thru the same **** EXACTLY! finally called apple support and some smart fella finally figured it out...
    it took him awhile...
at the point where you hit the 'apply' key instead hit the 'return' key... it will then activate your quicktime into pro...
    very sloppy work apple...
btw, i'm having a dickens of the time trying to learn to edit movies in quicktimepro... do you know where the faq or a learning the basics of quicktime pro online manual can be found?
    thanks,

  • Problems registering/getting quicktime Pro to work

I just decided to upgrade to quicktime pro but I am having a lot of trouble registering and thus using it. I went to preferences and clicked on the quicktime pro icon -- and I got a popup box that asked me to enter my name and my new registration number -- but there is nothing for me to "click" in order to have the registration number accepted. I thought perhaps just pressing "enter" would do it; but that doesn't work either. Then I thought if I just close the program and restart, perhaps that was it -- but I still don't have quicktime pro. I do have the most recent version of the free quicktime loaded onto my computer (7.0.4) so, I'm not sure what the problem is. Any tips on how I can get my quicktime pro up and working?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You've done everything correctly. There is no "ok" or "enter" button to confirm your registration. Go back to System Prefs>Quicktime, insure that your name/registration key are correctly entered. If so, quit quicktime and re-launch it. How do you know you do not have QT Pro? Launch a video in the player and then check your drop down menus. If you see cut, copy, paste for example unshaded, then you installed your key correctly.

  • Problem getting Quicktime Pro 7 to open

I recently upgraded to Tiger. I hadn't noticed this until now, but my Quicktime seems like it's only functioning as Quicktime Player 7.1.2. Any movies I open always open in Player, not Pro. I need some of the functions in Pro (like rotating) that I can't get in Player.
I already purchased Pro 7 last year, and the registration code for Pro appears in the Quicktime preference window, but it doesn't seem like Pro is actually working.
I tried downloading a new copy of Player, upgrading to Pro 7 (again), but nothing seems any different.
    eMac   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

QuickTime Pro is not a separate application, so you won't find something different than QuickTime Player. A Pro key just unlocks the extra features of QuickTime Player and the QuickTime browser plugin. If the Pro labels have gone from the menu items in QuickTime Player, then your key is correctly registered and you have the Pro features.
If you're unable to locate the controls for rotation (they've moved in QT 7), open your movie, open the Movie Properties window, click on the Video Track listing (not the Hinted Video Track, if one is present), and choose the Video Settings pane.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I get Quicktime Pro for Windows to save audio files?

No matter what I do QTP for Windows only saves .mov files. I am trying to create a new audio recording but the only file type I can save is movies. I bought this product specifically to try and migrate old cassette music to itunes. Any clues as to how I should go about it?

Have you tried Audio Capture software? This is dead easy on a Mac, plug it in and use something like SoundFlower (free) or Audio Hijack Pro to grab the sound.
If you have registered QT Pro you should get:
Menu > File > Export (Options): a wide range of formats
May I ask why you are doing this? Unless the tape version is unique, you should avoid recording from old tape as it is the worst of all worlds. The quality is bad and changing it to digital is not going to make it better even with a lot of editing.
Just bite the bullet and get CDs (which you can easily save to digital from iTunes) or buy the digital version directly. That way is much less painful and you have something you may actually want to listen to.

  • Which Macbook Pro should I get (Iris Pro or no Iris Pro?)

I have an outdated MBP (2009) and want to get a newer one. I use it mostly for work --- web/editing images but expect to occasionally need to edit videos as related to my job.
I am looking at refurbished and it's between:
Refurbished 15.4-inch MacBook Pro 2.0GHz Quad-core Intel i7 with Retina Display for $1659. This one has Iris graphics
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/FE...retina-display
    or
Refurbished 15.4-inch MacBook Pro 2.3GHz Quad-core Intel i7 with Retina Display. No Iris Pro. $60 cheaper.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/FC...retina-Display
So, I guess my question is do I need Iris Pro for my purposes? I don't know much about computers but it looks like the processor on the one with Iris Pro Graphics is slower. Is that right?
    Thanks.

I would choose the first one.

  • As a student, should I get the Air or the Pro?

The thing is that I have a Macbook Pro. I got it in 2009 and it is definetly starting to show its age. The battery lasts anywhere from 30-70 minutes when not plugged in. I have to end nearly every Safari session with force quit. The volume quality is terrible and my trackpad is starting to die on me. Genius Bar won't replace the battery because there is apparently a stain on it. Very silly.
I get tired of lugging my Macbook back and forth to school. So, I was thinking of getting an Air for 1) the weight 2)The battery life. But I hear that Mac Air isn't very powerful. For school, I would need to have Bootcamp installed on my computer because a lot of programs I use aren't mac compatible. (I'm a Management Information Systems major. It's half Computer Science & half Business) This year I used Visio and Oracle SQL Developer. I'm not sure what I will need for upcoming semesters. Will an Air be able to handle these programs? In addition to that, I do the regular stuff: Write a few papers, check emails and facebook, Youtube, web-surf, and watch television online.
I was thinking I would save my Pro for Sims and use the Air for everything else. I'm a student and a future Apple employee so I'm hoping that I'll get some good discounts. So my question IS, should I get another Pro (I could move everything over to the new comp and donate my old one, but it's soo heavy!) or get an Air (I'd keep my Pro for sims and use the Air for school. But Airs sound very weak!!) What should I do??
And this is my first post so please be nice
    Thanks to all that reply

I have a mid 2012 MBA and find it very capable.  The 1.8 GHz Core i5 processor seems to handle everything quite well.  For your school work I think the MBA is your best bet.  It is capable and light.  The MB Pro tends to weight quite a bit more and really isn't that much better unless you get into the very high end units.  One caveat, the MBA does not yet have the Retina display.  If you feel you wil need that, then the MB Pro is the only laptop to go for now.  The MBA may get the Retina display in the future but until them (who knows when) there isn't much of a choice.  If you go with the MBA, make sure you get the best processor and memory you can afford.  I find the Core i5 processor is quite capable and 4 GB RAM is sufficient.  For your school work that should be fine.

  • Should I get a high end macbook air or a macbook pro for digital graphics?

I wanna get into some 2d graphics. Drawing professionally with a tablet and such. Looking into 2D animation really. Maybe a little 3D. would a i7, 8gb ram 13 inch macbook air suit my needs? or should I get a pro for this? i really like the light design of the air and think it's a good enough size but the real issue is preformance. I guess it doesn't have to be such a powerhouse cause im planning to get a high powered desktop/imac anyways? I just wanna know which would give me the best results for on the go rendering.

The advantage of a desk top is that it is NOT portable, like the mobile devices. I do 75%/25% business/pleasure on my iMac 27" and it is as secure as possible in its location at my house. Because all these systems are so multi-function these days - Internet, photography, music, writing, and of course business - the temptation is always to have one around wherever you are.
For instance, I take my iPad abroad, or simply out for the day in case I get somewhere and find WiFi and want to use that.  If I only had a MacBook, I would take that out, and risk losing critical business data and images.
Sure, I have Time Machine backups, but for me, the trouble and cost of claiming for hardware and software [if I could prove I wasn't simply careless], and then messing about to get back to square one makes having a stable system at home very desirable.
Then I can take subsets of what I want out on the lesser hardware and not worry.
So it depends if you are playing or working, and of what nature the work is.
