Should i get the ipad 2 for school?

hi,
i was thinking about getting a ipad for school. i really would like to be able to take it to class and take notes! i hqve one question and that is is it practical to use it for homework with pages and keynote and numbers, or amoung other apps? also what do you like about the ipad? should i get a smart cover? what dont you like? i would use it mostly for note taking. what good note taking apps are their? also would keynote ect. work with office? my school uses office so i need it to do that. is office avalible for the ipad? or is it better to use pages?
austin

Depends on the person. Yes, you can take notes on the iPad. but you will possibly benefit from an external keyboard to type fast. (depends on how you can type /adapt to the on screen keyboard)
I don't use Pages, but I do Documents to Go and it works very well.
You will possibly find challenges getting things to print since the iPad only goes to AirPrint enabled printers. You will find challenges if you need to get data on or off the iPad since it doens't support flash drives (e-mail is the easiest way, and to do that you need wifi access)
You can't get microsoft office. but the afrorementioned docs to go works, as do other office apps.
You can make it work. Personally? For functionality and the such, I'd look into a netbook. Less money, hundreds of gigs and likely less compatibility issues with other devices.

I would certainly not recommend it for college.  You can't add the apps which serious courses are likely to require.  The same could be true for HS, depending on what kind of courses you are taking.  If all your teachers are using MS Word, then you should use that too for submitting assignments, and that requires a real computer.

  • Should I get the Invisible Shield for the iphone 4?

I need to know for sure. I want my $300 investment pristine.

I have IS on my iPhone 4.
One of the major drawbacks is that they send you very little of the liquid. For the large front and back pieces, spray directly onto them, but for the smaller pieces, I suggest spraying the liquid onto another clean surface (I used the leftover part from the big pieces) and then slide the smaller piece against the clean surface that has been sprayed to pickup the liquid. As you apply the smaller pieces to the phone, you can just slide those pieces against the clean surface you sprayed to pick up the liquid. If you need more liquid, spray the surface again. It's just a waste to spray the smaller pieces directly. Remember, don't spray your phone directly.
It's hard to get the smaller pieces to line up "perfectly" because they slip and slide so much and because they do not cover the whole phone. For example, the parts that cover the steel rim do not cover the entire width of the rim, so you have to line up the strip in the "middle" of the rim so it looks nice, but it's hard to keep the IS strips straight.
The front and back pieces will not cover 100% of the glass, although they will cover 99.9% of it. The piece for the home button is not as large as the button itself, so it won't cover the whole button.
It will also have that orange peel effect, but only if you look at the phone at an angle. You should not notice the orange peel effect during normal usage.
The IS strips do not prevent the antenna problems that some people see (I can recreate the issue with the IS strips on).
Most importantly, when applying the IS do it in a room with minimal dust. I significantly sized piece of dust made it on to the adhesive side of my front IS and is visible while using the phone. I'm going to have to try to reapply the screen, but of course I used up all the liquid so I'll have to figure out what to do about that.
Anyone know what exactly that liquid they use is?

  • Should I get "The Invisible Shield for PowerBook"?

Hi, has anyone bought the Invisible shield for PowerBooks? I wanted to get one to help protect my PowerBook palm rest area and clicker from pitting/scratches (my other PowerBook started to pit after about a year). Is it as invisible on the PowerBook as it is on an iPod? Would you'll recommend "The Invisible Shield" for PowerBooks? Thanks in advance for any help!

I use the Marware Protection Pack from http://www.marware.com
It has an adhesive wrist area protector that looks really slick and is comfortable to use. It also comes with a screen cloth and a keyboard cover to protect the screen from the keys. All for 20.00.

  • Should i get the new macbook for university?

    Hello,
i am looking for a suitable laptop for assignments and Uni workload.
is the new MacBook suitable for university life and worth it? I find it really easy to bring anywhere since it weights only 0.92 kg (2.03 pounds). Yet, I also find that the new MacBook is more to people who want their laptop to look as stylish as they can and not really suitable for students since the storage is inadequate and we have loads of assignments. I don't really know about gadgets, all I know is that I want a laptop that is easy to carry everywhere and has enough storage.
So, between the new MacBook and 13-inch macbook pro with retina display, which one is more suitable, and most importantly, worth for uni student?
    Thank you!

512Gb of storage should be adequate. The issues with the Macbook vs the Retina Macbook Pro (aside from excessive cost) seem to be
    1. Slower processor so cannot handle video editing and the like as well
    2. Single USB-C port so you will need adapters for all types of output (VGA, HDMI, USB...)
    3. Slightly smaller screen size
I am seriously considering it for travel due to the minimal size and weight. As for students ...

  • Should i buy the ipad 2 even though i got a new pc?

should I get the ipad if i just got a new pc?

I love my iPad, but it really depends on what you think you'd do with one.  I have a laptop, but the portability of the iPad has it beat.  However, if you need to do a lot of work work, access and modify documents, work with spreadsheets, etc., you may find iPad a bit of a letdown.  For me, all I do workwise on my iPad is read and answer email.  Otherwise, it's just a brilliant entertainment device.  All the apps are fun.  I have a book library through iBooks and Kindle.  I read magazines through Zinio.  I watch TV and movies through Netflix.  I listen to Pandora radio and just have a great time when I'm using my iPad.
You just need to think about what you need iPad to do for you.

  • Is the iPad good for taking notes or should I stick to a laptop?

Im thinking about getting an iPad for school to take notes and type documents with Pages. Is the iPad good for this or should I use a laptop instead?
    Thanks

It depends on your needs and preferences. I use my iPad regularly to take notes, but I wouldn't want to try and type an extensive paper on one without an external keyboard (my touch-typing skills just don't fit the spacing on the iPad's on-screen keyboard). I'd suggest you visit an Apple Store or dealer that carries the iPad and try out typing on it yourself and see how it works for you.
    Regards.

  • For the 2012 Macbook Pro 13" should I get the 2.5GHz Dual-core Intel Core i5 or the 2.9GHz Dual Core Intel Core i7?

I am a high school student and I am getting my first Macbook Pro. I am not really sure which 13 inch Macbook Pro model I should get. My budget is kind of tight, but I think that I can afford any one of the models but I dont want to spend any money that I dont have to spend. Usually on a day to day basis, I use the web brower, watch movies that I have downloaded, and write a lot of papers. I also sometimes use Photoshop, and while I do not play a lot of games, I do want to have the option if I decide to later when I go to college. The larger hard drive size on the Core i7 model does not really matter to me because I dont plan using more than 500GB. I will be upgrading the ram to 8GB if I get the Core i5 model and it comes standard on the i7. Also, I need this computer to last me for 3-4 years so I want something that will still seem relatively fast a few years down the road. Lastly, while I would prefer getting the Macbook Pro due to its cheaper price and ability to upgrade the hard drive later, I also am considering the Macbook Air Core i7 model, mainly because of the faster ssd and the higher resolution screen. I dont really use the optical drive, so loosing it would not be a big deal. The same goes with the Firewire port or the Ethernet port. What would you guys suggest I get. A Macbook Pro or a Air and if the Pro, should I get the Core i5 or the i7?
    Thanks

If you're planning on keeping it for long term.
    Go with the i7 2.9GHz.
It's a $300 difference but with that you get; the RAM, Hard Drive and Processor upgrade.
Since you want it to last before you decide to either upgrade or buy a new one.  The i7 2.9GHz is a good choice.
Do remember that Mountain Lion is around the corner and other software get's updated to and wants more CPU power and more memory.
Nothing is wrong with the i5 2.5GHz either.  You'll just have to upgrade the RAM sooner in case 4GB isn't enough for you.
    Put it this way:
    i5 2.5GHz has 3MB L3 Cache Memory
    i7 2.9GHz has 4MB L3 Cache Memory
Now, you're also thinking about the MB Air, a very nice notebook which is light, portable and has a better resolution than the MB Pro 13 inch.  You have to however, keep in mnd that the RAM and Hard Drive in the MB Air is not user upgradeable and has no optical drive.

  • How do I get The ipad locked to run only one application for customers (perhaps a webapp)

how do I get The ipad locked to run only one application for customers (just one web app, or video- instructions, or just safari). What I really want is that my customers to only use one app that has all my services. It is an interactive app so I would not like them to go surfing elsewhere while they are in my store.
Is it possible to do this on the iPad ?

    Try this:
LabVIEW Champion . Do more with less code and in less time .

My mom got the iPad mini for Christmas and she gave me her old iPad but she is still receiving all my messages on her mini. Is there a way to stop her from getting them?

If she is receiving your messages - then you must have somehow setup the iPad to use your iPhone number or your email address on her new iPad. How you did that is beyond me unless you set up her new Mini for her and used your Apple ID on it.
On her iPad got to - Settings>Messages>Send and Receive at>You can be reached by iMessages at>uncheck your phone number or email address of that is what is being used for the contact number.

iPad syncing stays on step 5 of 5 “waiting for items to copy” but does not copy anything...  should I restore the iPad?

Hey, I was having the same problem,, i just got mine to work. Take off everything but your apps (meaning take off pictures, music, ringtones, movies, tv shows, etc just leave on the apps) Then go up to the top and go to Store and turn off Genius. Restore your iPhone (It'll ask you to back up, click yes.) Restore from back up, Let your apps come back then when those are done add each category one by one. (i.e. click Photos -> Sync Photos and let them finish, then click something else like music) Hope this helps!
