Should I get the iPhone 4?

I have an 16GB iPhone 3GS. I want the iPhone 4 because of all of it's cool features. Should I upgrade? I'm due for an upgrade on 2/09/11, but i don't know if i should spend about $650 in total (Current amount for iPhone 3GS) or should I just upgrade in 2011. Also since Apple kept the same design for 2 years, what if they do it again and i get the 2011 version and then the 2012 version is all redesigned, then I would probably want that one. What should I do? Do you think At&t would give me an early upgrade option?

Come-on...you're an Apple customer. You ought to be used to buying an Apple product and several months later (a couple of years if you're lucky) they come out with a new "market blow away" product or a terrific new model of yours. That's the Apple way! Get used to it.
There are many out there just like the Chinese who must have the latest and greatest item on the market as soon as it's available and that includes a lot of Apple customers. That's why we love Apple. They come out with a new product and by the time the rest of the market starts to catch up a couple of years later, the new product comes out and the process starts all over again.
If you want it...get it. There are just so many smiles left in life.
Good luck with that new iPhone 4!

Depends whether you'll hate everyone who has the iphone 5 when it eventually comes out. Note, this is the ipad section of the ASC.

  • Should I Get the Iphone 3g

I have been looking at getting the Iphone 3g over the past couple of weeks. What I really want is an unbiased opinion. I know it may have some trouble with 3G. And I know it may have a few minor software gliches(which I am pretty sure Apple will fix).
Also which should I get the 16gb or the 8gb version.
    Thanks

A lot of "depends" type questions...
personally, I say yes. Ultimately depends on how you wish to use the phone?
3G: Call AT&T Customer Svc and have them verify the level of 3G network support in your local area, or your frequented business or otherwise travel locations are. Just because they show you being in "blue" 3G zone, doesn't mean your signal strength will be as strong as another "blue" area 4-miles away. My 3G signal vacillates from No Svc to two bars from minute to minute standing in the same spot. The more users on 3G network will slow your download speed.
BATTERY: No complaints here based on my regulated use of 3G, PUSH; Locate Me; Wi-Fi usage; send and receive emails/SMS messages, GPS and internet access. First 24-hours I owned the field I spent a lot of time familiarizing myself with all the features and I ended up with 19-hours battery time. Since then I avg 24- 48 hours before recharging.
My Personal usage: I use my 3G as a "tool", only using features as required. I work a lot from my home office; therefore, don't require PUSH for email/SMS since I have my laptop and local ISP for internet and email access. Being at home and when traveling in the local area I "know where I am for the most part" so GPS is not required. Having my business phone there, most of my calls are on it and not my iPhone unless I receive a call from a colleague or family member on my iPhone. I do leave my BlueTooth turned on at least 8-hours a day even in my home office. I turn PUSH on when I am expecting important emails from clients or colleagues when away from my home office which is at least 1-hr per day... when I am not expecting anything of importance and away from my office, I leave it on FETCH at 15-30 min intervals since there is nothing that important that can't wait and if it is, they can call me to get my attention. I use my camera on occasion (twice in two weeks I think... and have rare needs for video capabilities). Sending pix via SMS or txt can be convenient at times, but depends on the priority and urgency you put into sending this to someone who may not even have their wireless device turned on or close by? I also have not experienced the same concerns as others on this Discussion site.. but their user scenarios may significantly differ from mine. I don't use Micro Soft Exchange server, nor Mobile Me... since my syncs etc can wait until I get to my MacBook Pro and flip on iTunes. I purchased the 16Gig and glad I did. I do have around 200-tunes on it and maybe keep 2-3 movies on it. I listen to my iTunes a couple hours a day on average and talk time is 2.5 to 3.5 hr's a day. I was at the airport two days ago and jumped on their Wi-Fi to jump on the internet to track a colleagues flight coming in and checking news and had my 3G on PUSH for emails for a couple of hours and barely noticed a drain on my battery. Again, I use it as a tool for those features I need at the time and glad I had my 3G. A guy next to me had his BlackBerry open to the web and he glanced over to see the rich HTML download I had on Flight Aware and commented on how he wished he had the robustness of the 3G. On the flip side, the iPhone isn't perfect when it comes to Business usage on a regular basis. It meets my needs and if I want, I can use my company's MS Exchange server, etc... or even Mobile.Me... I just choose not to at this time. I did come over from Verizon Wireless... and I am not convinced AT&T's network (EDGE or 3G) is as reliable. I have had 4-dropped calls in area's I have never had issues with in 7-yr's with Verizon... but AT&T so far have been very good about credits. If this continues on a regular basis before my 30-days ends, I may have to consider returning to Verizon? 3G is still being rolled-out, so I am hoping its coverage and network tools improve to handle the additional user volume's. I don't care which phone you use on 3G, it will still have the same issues and burn battery life quickly if you choose to live on 3G... surf the net or use GPS to go to local grocery store, etc. It isn't a toy, its a tool to be used when you need it.

  • If I have the iPhone 4, should I get the iPhone 5?

I got my iPhone 4 about a year or two ago and I wanna know if I should get the iPhone 5 or wait for the next legendary apple product to arrive because i've gotten mixed reviews. Some people say i should get it now and some people say i should wait. I understand that I can get alot of the new software when I download the new iOS 6, but when i think about it, most of the updates are for the 4S, not the four. So is it worth the upgrade or should I wait? Please help me and please dont be mean thank you

As was said already, ultimately your decision, but here are some things to consider.
First, I think the antenna issue is exaggerated, but I would recommend a case. This will minimized the issue and, frankly, I think it is risky not to use a case. The glass on both sides make them slicker than others. Also can help in case you do drop it, but it is still going to come down to how it hits and how hard.
Second, the proximity sensor has been a big problem for a bunch of people - screen comes on even when against your ear and then your cheek activates buttons!
4.1 seemed to help most, though some said it got worse. 4.2.1 has solved at least one problem with it, based on my testing and others have said it solved the issue. Still, I've seen about 5 posts from people who say the problem remains - but compared to the past, that is really low.
Finally, some people have said phones manufactured starting with week 46 are better. Don't know if that is true (we heard similar things at least twice before only to have it turn out not to be so). However, I did get to actually check a week 46 phone today, running a standard test I do. It was the first phone I've tested that passed the test! Could be a fluke, but I'm hoping to find more to check.
To see what the week of manufacture is, check the serial number. First two numbers are the factory number. Third number is the last digit of the year (zero for now). The 4th and 5th number are the week of manufacture.
While I can't guarantee week 46 has solved the problem, I'd probably still, if I was buying now, insist upon having something at least that new.

  • Should I get the iPhone 3GS?

First off, a few important details must be noted.
    1. My credit is bad to the point at which I cannot possibly qualify for a phone contract.
    2. I cannot afford the retail price of newer models of the iPhone.
    3. I am looking for unlocked phones.
That said, I've been looking at the iPhone 3GS offered at H2O Wireless. $40 a month, unlimited talk & text. The phone would be $199, and include a SIM card and a $50 card.
But, is the iPhone 3GS still worth it? Would I be better of buying a different unlocked phone for $199 and using it with H2O?

If your credit is PAST down the toilet. You're better off getting a prepaid regular cellphone. However, The 3gs is easier to get fix(Like the broken screen) and cheaper to replace. Go to "Gamestop", you can get it cheaper($139.99, on sale 25% off right now) and you can still use the H2O Wireless. And you can use "Skype " on it.

  • Should I get the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 plus?

I've to buy one of the new iPhones, regardless of "bendgate". I cant decide which model to choose. I know that the plus' specs and definition are better, but I can't tell whether it's too big. I dont plan on wearing skinny jeans, and i plan on buying a case, but not a huge case like an Otter Box. please dont tell me anything about features or functions, this is purely on size and whether the plus is too big. I'm leaning towards the plus. Thanks!

Here ya go. Print it out, cut them out and then compare. http://www.juicybitssoftware.com/files/iPhone%206%20Size%20Comparison.pdf

  • Should I get the iPhone 4 16 GB or 32Gb?

right now the 16GB is on sale for $0.01 on a 3 yr term and the 32GB is on sale for $49.99 on a 3 yr term
Truthfully i will be fine with either one i just wanted to  know which is the better buy

Given the "relatively" small price difference and the contract terms, I would go with the 32GB. If you have the extra room, you always can find ways to fill it with content. Unless you don't have a large media library and are not too much into apps, etc.

  • Should I buy the iPhone 5 now or wait until September?

It's July now and apple usually announces a new iPhone is September should I get the iPhone 5 now or wait until September?

No one but Apple knows when (or if) Apple will release a new iPhone.  That being said, Apple has released a new iPhone every year for 6 years straight.  If you think you want the newest iPhone, wait a few months and see what happens this year.

  • Should I wait for the iPhone 5 or get the iPhone 4S now?, Should I wait for the iPhone 5 or get the iPhone 4S now?

I dont know what to do! I really want an iPhone 4S now, but I don't know if i will regret it later once the iPhone 5 is released. What should I do? Is it worth the wait? If I do get the iPhone 4S right now will I be happy? I know it sounds stupid, but you all probably know more about this than me.. I'm new to Apple products.

Not really, we're all users just like you & no one here would have any idea about any future Apple products. Further, the terms of use here prohibit the discussion about Apple's plans.

  • When is the iphone 5s coming out? Is it this year 2013 or next year 2014 because I was thinking should I just get the iphone 5 or wait.

When is the iphone 5s coming out? This year or next year because I was thinking should I just get the iphone 5 or wait.

Since iOS 7 is due to be released in the fall I would say you would see a new iPhone at the same time.

My iphone is not working, i was planning on getting the iphone 5s for christmas, but i do not have my phone backed up on itunes. On my screen are these blue lines across on my screen, and i cant see anthing and i do not know what to do. I want to back up my phone but i cant see my screen to back it up. I need help badly. Thanks apple hope you can help me in this matter.

You wouldn't need to see the screen to backup unless you have a passcode on the device. Is that the case? You should be able to plug the device into the computer with iTunes and just select backup now.

  • My wife and I have a family account at Verizon and are thinking of getting the IPhone 4S.  My question is can we both use the functions of Icloud on the same account at Verizon or do we have to have separate accounts to be able to use all the features

My wife and I have a family account at Verizon and are thinking of both getting the IPhone 4S.  My question is can we both use all of the features of Icloud with one account at Verizon or do we need to have separate accounts?

If Mail in Mavericks is the same as earlier versions you can select accounts in the sidebar, so that you can either display the inboxes for individual accounts, or the contents of all the account inboxes. (If the accounts don't show click the disclosure triangle next to 'INBOX'). The layout may have changed since the version I have - Snow Leopard - but you should be able to do the same thing.

  • I have two libraries on separate computers. If i turned itunes match on in both computers would the two libraries merge? So if my iphone normally syncs with my laptop would i still only get the iphones library or would i get both as one?

I have two libraries on separate computers. If i turned itunes match on in both computers would the two libraries merge? So if my iphone normally syncs with my laptop would i still only get the iphones library or would i get both as one?

Yes, the two libraries should merge. However, you need to turn on match on one computer and let it finish before adding the second library.
Once you turn march on n your phone then you don't sync it with iTunes, but the merged library will show up on the phone. If you don't turn on match on your phone and continue to sync then all of the music from both libraries should be available to sync to it.
The only bit I can't confirm is what happens if you try to sync music to the phone which isnt actually downloaded into iTunes. Im not in a position to test that, but maybe someone else can help.
