Should I have a separate apple store account for my work iPad?

I have a personal iPhone that I use for work - company pays for the service but I have an apple account for apps, music, etc.  I am now getting the first (work) iPad in the company - hard to believe, i know,-  and am wondering if I should create a new apple account just for work.  The ipad will have Verizon for the 3G service - my phone is at&t.
This is complicated by the fact that I am planning to sync both my iPhone and new iPad to our Microsoft exchange server and will have business and personal information on both devices.

Hello, Ric,
That decision is pretty much between you and your company. If you're getting reimbursed for purchases you make for your work, you may be required by your company to have a separate account, perhaps paid by a company credit card, so that they can account for the purchases and retain ownership and control of them should you leave the company. Otherwise, there's no technical difference as to whether you purchase apps solely through your personal account or purchase work apps via a company account other than the complication of possibly having to sign into two iTunes Store accounts to obtain app updates.
Synching to an Exchange server isn't connected with an iTunes Store account, so that won't affect your decision.
Regards.

Hi folks, I am having trouble down loading an app onto my IPhone that is only available in the United States? should I create a new apple ID account for this U.S. application

Sorry... But... You cannot use other countries itunes stores.
You must be within the Country with a Valid Billing Address and Credit Card for that Country to use the iTunes Store of that Country..

  • Can I have a separate apple ID accounts? One for  my iphone, and one for my ipad?

This may be a stupid questions but, I don't want everything on my ipad on my iphone. Can I make two separate apple ID accounts? how will that affect my itunes account on my laptop/macbook?

No. You can sign in and out of the different accounts on the phone and the iPad but you can't use automatic downloads with two different ID's and if you switch to another ID on a device and then you download past purchases using that ID, you will lock yourself out of the other ID for 90 days.

  • Should I have a separate apple ID than my wife?  Different iphones, iPads, etc

Greetings all,  I am new to apple, sort of.  My question is should my wife and I have separate ID's?  We both have idevices, but are currently sharing an apple ID.  The reason that I would prefer to have separate ID's is that I am tired of deleting her apps.  We share the iMac, and I don't want to risk loosing anything from iTunes.  Again, this is probably apple 101 basic stuff, just unsure.  Any thoughts or advice would be great.

You can simply uncheck the box that says to add new apps when you sync. If you want to have a separate ID just know that all current apps are tied to that account.
I don't understand why you are saying the all current applications are tied to that account. I have help numerous users to creat additional accounts and never had this happen as long as the applications were installed correctly in the Applications folder under the system disk which is available to all accounts.

  • I have a redundant apple store account that I cannot access and need to change

    Good morning,
Until about 9 months ago I had an account with claranet and that was used to access the apple store via my Iphone, however, for many reasons, it became untennabble and I switched to mobileme. The issue is that when I try to access the Itunes Store and update my apps it always wants to use the claranet account - which no longer exists.  I have tried to get rid of it and synch to mobile me but without any success. Can anyone help?

Apps are linked to your iTunes account, you cannot change apps to a new account.
So when ever you want to update those apps bought with the old account you will have to use the old accounts log in.
The only way to stop this is to re-purchase the apps from the new account.
You can however change the email and personal details of an iTunes account.
So I am not sure why you created a second itunes account?
You really don't ever need to change your account, only the details.

  • I should not have created a seperate icloud account for our second device

I have my sons ipod and my iphone on one icloud account.   When my husband bought an iphone I created a seperate icloud account for his phone and now want to have all three devices on one account.
First, are there any issues with having all of us on one account?
Second, if I can proceed, how to do I change his account?

Then sign in at settings > iCloud with seperate ID's for each user, if you are already signed in with an ID you don't want to to use, delete the account.
Use your own ID's for signing into settings > messages and settings > FaceTime (if you use them), but when it comes to signing in at settings > iTunes & App Stores use the same ID on all devices, use the one you have already made purchases from.

  • HT1918 merging two Apple store accounts

My husband and I each have iPhones on separate Apple store accounts... now our kids are old enough to want ( "need" ) phones and it would be much easier to have the two accounts + the kid's all on one account.... is it possible to "merge" the two accounts without wiping out one of the phones?
    thanks

No, it is not possible. There are no more @me.com accounts. You can ask Apple for assistance:

  • Is there a way to open an apple store account without adding card info?

I want to have an apple store account for 2 reasons only.
    1. To download the art covers for my music
    2. So iTunes stops asking me every 30 seconds 'do I want an iTunes account'
At the end of registering I realised that apple are asking for my card details. I can't seem to bypass this. Is there a way to create an account without adding my card details?
If not and I have to add my card details in. Can i just check - I only pay something if i download a piece of music, movie, game etc. and there are no other charges?
    thanks jason

    Hi,
You have to put a credit card. It is mandatory to verify in which country you're living and for Apple to validate in which Store your can buy music if you want to do so.
But if you never buy music, your credit card won't be charge at all. Don't worry about this.
You'll also be able to download the free song of the week, which is completly free each week. And for your cover art, it will not be a charge at all too.
    Hope this help.

  • I appear to have two separate Apple IDs and have purchased music under both.  Is there any way to consolidate the accounts into one?

I appear to have two separate Apple IDs and to have purchased music under both of them (one is my husband's email account, the other is mine).  Is there a way to consolidate them, or is it possible to make the purchases made under two separte IDs downloadable on the same device(s)?

Not at this time. There is no way to merge two Apple IDs or be signed into the iTunes Store with more than one Apple ID at a time on an iOS device. However, you can USB sync the music to more than one device at a time, no problem. As long as all the music is on the same computer.

  • My computer was stolen and now my wife and i are sharing her laptop.  we have separate apple ID accounts, i upgraded to iphone 4 since the robbery.  all of her apps are on my phone and i can not get my apps or upgrade exisiting apps using my apple account

my wife and I are now sharing the same laptop, mine was stolen, we have separate apple ID accounts.  i upgraded to iphone 4 after the robbery and activated my phone on her laptop.  when i try to download or upgrade apps her apple ID keeps popping up.  can we have separate accounts using the same laptop with different phones?  if so, how can i fix this?

It sounds as if you're using the same Mac OS X login account on that computer. If you create a separate login account for yourself, it will be as if you have two computers (other than the fact you can't both use it at the same time, of course).
Go to System Preferences->Users & Groups to create a new user account for yourself. Log out of your wife's account, then log in to your own account. You can now set up this user environment any way you like. When you launch iTunes the first time, enter your Apple ID and log in to the iTunes Store. Redownload all of your content. Then connect your iPhone to the computer using the USB cable - it will treat it as a new phone, let iTunes wipe the phone and set it up as new.
You might then want to set up Fast User Switching within System Preferences->Users & Groups which will allow you and your wife to swap the laptop between the two of you easily without even having to log out one account in order to log in to the other.

  • HT1904 Hi I just created apple store account and I didn't get verification mail and I can't buy any games withou it. What should ii do?

Hi I just created apple store account and I didn't get verification mail and I can't buy any games withou it. What should ii do?

If you already created an Apple ID, you have to enter a credit card in order to use that ID now. If you don't have a credit card at all, you will have to create a new Apple ID to use without a credit card and you will need to have another email address in order to do this.
First you will have to sign out of your current ID in Settings> iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. You can tap the ID and tap Sign Out. Now you can proceed with creating a new Apple ID according to the instructions in here.
Create iTunes Store account without credit card - Apple ...
You are saying that you don't have a credit card, but if you had one, you could enter the credit card in order to use the ID that you already created, but you never have to use it. You can use gift cards or just download free content. But unless you create the ID as outlined above, you must enter payment details.

  • HT204498 I have 2 apple store accounts and this has resulted in 2 iTunes accounts with different TV show purchases. How can I get both on my AppleTV?

I have 2 apple store accounts and this has resulted in 2 iTunes accounts with different TV show purchases. How can I get both on my AppleTV? It was suggested I sign out of the current active AppleTV account and sign in with the other. I can find no way to do this. Also, I have been advised by Apple that I cannot consolidate the two accounts.

I am certain you are doing backups of your TV shows on your computer in iTunes?!  If not, do so.  You should also make sure that you backup both accounts.  Now, for your problem, you could combine the backups to one location then use your computer function on your Apple TV to watch all of your TV shows in one place.  The only other way to watch both accounts is to actually go into account settings on your Apple TV and change the account info to the account you want to watch the TV shows in that account.  Sounds awful, probably is.
