Should I have restored on a new iphone?
Hi all,
I upgraded my phone to the 5S today and when I plugged it in to my itunes it came up with the options of setting up a new phone or (and had already selected) restoring a phone. As it was already selected and because I wanted everything from my previous handset on this new one I went ahead and restored it.
However, I should be having 4G connectivity and once it had finished restoring it came up saying it was 3G which is what I had previously. Does this mean I have lost 4G completely?? If yes, do I have to completely restore the phone again? I'm so confused!

when you start using iCloud on any iOS device and enable find my iPhone, this prevents a new user from using it, and also prevents anyone from using the phone
as it is locked to previous owners account ,this is also the case if when a phone is lost or stolen.
the only way around this is to have the previous owner reset their apple id by going to @ applied.apple.com
if they are unable to do this, then the only other way around this is to have the previous owner get a copy of their original receipt and call apple support who can then lift this lock if they get a copy of the receipt

If I got a new iPhone and backed up the date from the old one, it should show up once the new one is set up right?
And does an "incomplete" status on iCloud mean it can't be restored to the new iPhone?
Help pleaseWhat I mean is still track my stolen one. I don't know if this will make sense to you but I'm thinking that if I restore the back up data on this phone..on my stolen phone it will like forget the icloud account or something and think this phone is the stolen one so when I go to track the stolen one, it will show that phone as the one I have now because I restored the back up from that phone.

I have just received a new iPhone 4s and have restored it from the last back up I did before I got the new phone, however, after I do the restore the only option I get is to click on "Done" at the top of the page but then no data or information from my phone shows up and when I click on the "iPhone" button on the top right hand side of the page it takes me back to the previous page and gives me the option to set up a new phone or restore again. I have just restored my husbands iPhone 5 and had no issues at all. They were both backed up on the same day last week.
That does happen. It depends on how hard the server is being hit, as well as the connection speed of your system. If you are on a windows system, you will want to disable any antivirus or firewall software during the download.

I have just bought a new iphone 4 as an upgrade to my iphone 3GS. How can I transfer all my apps including saved levels in games etc. and data and folders to the new iphone 4 and keep facetime etc on the new iphone 4. When I have done this for someone else they got all their data etc but lost the Face Time App and teh iphone 4 looked like the iphone 3 screen.
There is no FaceTime app for the iphone, FaceTime is built into the iOS. Follow the directions here:

I have just bought a new iPhone and gave my old one to my Mum. My problem is that even with a new SIM and phone number I seem to be getting her messages as well as mine on my thread. They are also being recorded as both sent and received so she must be paying twice for each SMS sent. Help please
Wipe iPhone/iPad/iPod touch clean
There are a few steps to do:
Switch off iMessage in Settings > Messages
Switch off FaceTime in Settings > FaceTime (iPod touch 4th Generation or later, iPhone 4 or later and iPad 2 or later)
Delete iCloud in Settings > iCloud > Delete Account
Finally Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.

Now you can sell/give.
Now, you should get her a new Apple ID to sign in the options above. -

You can charge it up as much as you like. The battery in the iPhone does not have the "memory effect" that old batteries used to have. I usually charge mine untill the small whote battery with the lightning bold through it changes to just a small white battery. The green battery icon in the middle of the screen should show as completly full as well. Again if you don't have enough time to fully charge it, don't worry, it won't harm the battery.
I have done this since the original iPhone and have never had a battery give short life or fail.
Many people top off the battery several times a day. -
Inability to restore apps to new iphone 5s from encrypted backup
Hi, thanks for any advice. I recently upgraded to iphone 5s following significant slowown of iphone 4 which until the ios 7 update was a perfectly usable device. I am now simply unable to fully restore a brand new iphone 5s from a full encrypted iphone 4 backup using itunes. I have followed to letter the instructions on apple's website.
The restore process runs through but only restores text messages, contacts and photos. None of the over 20 other apps are showing up on the new iphone 5s. Perhaps I am misreading what itunes can backup and restore. I would appretiate any suggestions. Thanks.Can you access other apps? Can you acess the internet? Can you access applications that use internet besides facebook?

Have tried over and over again. Won't restore backup onto new iPhone 4. I updated the software first, have tried wiping phone and starting fresh. Continue to get message at an error occured. Sometimes it says (-1).
Well, the obviously solution is to use separate Apple ID's for iCloud.

ITunes stopped working when restoring backup to new iPhone 6

I have just bought a new iPhone 6 128GB. I backed up my iPhone 4S to my computer using iTunes 12.0.1. When I tried to start the new iPhone 6 from the back up it restored so far, up to step 5 of 5, but when it tired to sync Apps and Music iTunes stopped working. It has done this over 5 times at exactly the same stage.
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1.
I have uninstalled and re-installed iTunes, turned both the phone and laptop off and back on again. Update all of the Apps on my laptop and installed them all manually on the phone, tried syncing again... and again... and again...
It is now getting extremely infuriating as I have now wasted over 4 hours trying to get Apps and Music on my iPhone 6. The reason for my the 128GB version was so I no longer need to carry and iPod on holiday as I have lots of music. I now can't sync any music!

I have just received a new iphone 5s and need to set the Apple ID with my work email. I used my work email on my personal iphone 4s to set up an icloud account and it will not let me use this email as the Apple ID on my new iphone. As it is a work phone I need to use this email address as my Apple ID. How do I do this?
when you open the app store scroll down to the bottom it will display the apple id currently in use, change it to your normal apple id email

i would like to get my notes back from itunes or at least be able to see them without restoring my brand new iphone 4s as i believe the back up from my previous iphone is corrupted. Help please
If you can't restore from your backup you could try 3rd party software such as iPhone Backup Extractor to see if you could extract your notes from the backup.

I have problems syncing my new iPhone 5 to iTunes. I read somewhere to disable iPhotos and that has allowed me to sync but my photos are not on my iPhone. How can I fix this?
Try updating to iPhoto 9.4.1. If it's not appearing in your Software Update yet, try updating using a .dmg installer downloaded from the following page on the Apple website:
