  • Get error message when trying to install Bluetooth Firmware Update 2.0.1

I have been having issues installing Bluetooth Firmware Update 2.0.1 on both of my Macbook Pro and my Imac. The update downloads but will not install. It comes up with an error code each time. I have not been able to install this on either Macs. HELP!

both units do list they they require the bluetooth update. I have downloaded it from Software update and from a direct link from Apple. I have experienced since trying to install the update that it will not full install and that it causes problems with bluetooth either being not available or working from time to time. I have not found a way to get it to work properly or going back to the previous version

  • How do I install the firmware update for LinkSys E900 router?

    Hi,
I'm using Mac 10.7.5 and a few months back had purchased the E900 wireless router.  It has firmware 1.0.03 installed and I noticed there is a 1.0.04 update.  I downloaded the update, which is a .bin file, but I do not have a CD burner nor access to a Windows machine.  How can I install the firmware update?
    Thanks, - Dave
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Simple, with your wired computer (never wireless) just access the GUI in the router and perform the firmware update.  Just point to the .bin file and away you go.  Make sure to hard reset the router and reconfigure it after you are done.

  • Macbook (late 2006) RSS unable to install SMC firmware update

    Hello,
I bought my macbook on the 27th of December, and the first week it worked fine. Then started the RSS. I did some googling and found out some stuff about RSS, tried to install the SMC firmware update but it would just tell me that I don't need the update. After two weeks of constant RSS:ing I called applecare and told the guy about the problem, he told me to try to update the SMC and if I can't do it bring it in for service.
Monday the 15th of January I went to the macstation in downtown Vancouver and told them about the trouble, they tried to boot it, and it actually booted but after like 3 minutes the macbook crashed. For about 10 minutes two guys tried to boot it and so on, but they didn't get it to boot. So they took it in for service and somebody was going to check out the macbook and see if it would need a replacement logic board - which it did. So on Monday they ordered the logic board, and today Monday 22nd of January I got it back. Now the thing that bothers me is that when I now try to update the SMC firmware (my current version is btw 1.13f3) it still just says that This computer does not need this update. oh well - i went to apples support page to try to see if there would be a newer release of the smc and then I noticed that in the bottom of the SMC firmware 1.1 update page it says:
Note: This update is only or the original MacBook, and will not install on a MacBook (Late 2006).
    Then I really was like W T F?!
I would assume that people who work for apple would know that the SMC update will not update on a computer from late 2006, but nobody ever mentioned this to me.
I've now had the computer for about an hour and the CPU temperature is at about 50 degrees celcius, with firefox, msn and a terminal open... about 5% cpu load.
What I'm really wondering is that is there anyone who has similar problems with a macbook late 2006? I guess I'll just have to see if it works and just like I told the guy at macstation, if it starts RSS:ing again I'll be banging on their door

  • How to install Graphics Firmware Update 1.0 in Lion?

I'm trying to install Windows 7 on a 27" iMac with a NVidia 7600GT graphics card.  Knowledgebase article HT3986 says that Graphics Firmware Update 1.0 must be installed first. I downloaded the firmware update  but on running it says the Mac OS X 10.6 is required  but I've already upgraded to Lion.
I was able to install Windows 7 but I have to disable the graphics card for it to boot and use it in VGA mode.
How can I install the firmware update?

I used BC 4.0. I don't remember installing the firmware update and thought it likely that I would skip it as I didn't intend to install Windows.
    Here's the system profile information:

Can't install SMC Firmware Update for my MacBook Pro 15" early 2011

Check your Network control panel and turn off Auto-Proxy setting.
This is one of the top #4 "how can they do this' pet-peeve errors.
The other is the often slow 8 hrs to download 600MB even on 10Mb+ cable.
Another, 'the drive cannot be partitioned because there isn't enough contiguous unfragemented free space; some files are locked and cannot be moved."
If auto proxy isn't it, router/modem and DNS settings.

  • Need to do a clean install after firmware update

i have to reinstall os x after the firmware update.
it wont boot up just sticks on the grey logo and sinny thing.... grrrr
will it be ok just to archive and install just leopard instead of tiger, then disc 2(the apps) then leopard??

After installing the recent keyboard firmware update, my iMac G5 refused to boot past the grey apple screen, too. Got the spinning paddle, but multiple hard shutdowns and restarts failed to get it past that point.
I ended up booting the Leopard Install DVD and tried to reboot into my backup, a Superduper clone of the drive. Wouldn't do it -- got the same result.
Used Disk Utility (on the Leopard DVD) to repair the disk/permissions. The only significant repair was this:
permissions differ on "private/var/log/secure.log," should be -rw-------, they are -rw-r-----.
Now, I don't know what that means, but maybe it's relevant.
I rebooted -- and still was unable to get past the grey screen. I tried repairing permissions a second time (and nothing unusual came up) and it still failed to fix the startup problem.
Ultimately, I was forced to do an archive and install of Leopard, which then allowed me to boot successfully.
Really disappointing -- this is the kind of thing I expect Windows users to have to deal with, not us.

  • Error while trying to install SMC Firmware Update

I have 2 original model 13" MacBooks doing the spontaneous shutdown thing. Both are running OS 10.4.11. One has SMC version 1.4f8, the other has SMC version 1.4f10. When I run software updater it comes up with 2 updates: MacBook EFI Firmware Update 1.0, and MacBook SMC Firmware Update 1.1. The first time I used the standard method of clicking on "Install 2 Items", etc. When the restart instructions came up, I clicked on restart, entered the password, and got the message: "An unexpected error occurred (0). Your Firmware cannot be upgraded."
I tried again, only I selected just the SMC update instead of both. Same result. I downloaded the package and tried to install directly instead of going through Software Updater, same result. I tried installing the EFI update by itself using different methods. Same result. Using advice from another thread, I tried opening the firmware updater application directly from the utilities folder. Still get the same error.
    Anyone have any additional suggestions?

  • HT204032 Can't install SMC firmware update

I'm trying to install the SMC firmware update 1.6 on a mid-2011 Macbook Air.  First downloaded it from App Store, and after restart it was stuck at a gray screen with spinning icon, no text or progress indicator-- stayed that way overnight.  Tried downloading directly from Apple, same result.  Tried resetting SMC, then installing, same result.  It won't finish instlaling the update-- any ideas?

Check your system profiler ...if your SMC is up to date it will read: SMC Version 1.4f12. If it is not and you have the first gen. Macbook (CoreDuo) then make certain that you are running 10.4.8 before you begin the update.
Make sure you are following these instructions explicitly...
To update the SMC firmware on your MacBook:
Your computer’s power cord must be connected and plugged into a working power source.
    1. Quit all other open applications.
    2. Click Restart in the MacBook SMC Firmware Update window and wait for your computer to restart.
The SMC firmware update starts automatically. A status bar indicates the progress of the update. During the update your computer fans will run at full speed, but will return to normal once the update completes.
As the instructions say - you have to restart the machine via the installer. Also, you do not mention but did you have a status bar appear during the update?

  • Can't instal SMC firmware update on my MBP 1.83

Hi. I tried installing the new firmware 3 times but my MBP restarts and shows a blinking file folder with a question mark. If i then restart i start right up into OSX. I also have a partition for XP and have no problems booting using the option key. Any ideas? Thanks all!!

    Hi,
First go to System Preferences -> Startup Disk -> select your Macintosh Disk, and click the lock to prevent changes.
    That should do it.

  • Should I install the new update?

I have been reading about the total failure of MacBook Pros after running the latest update. Does this affect MacBooks or just the MacBook Pros?

Yes you should. It is the best thing for the computer to keep it up to date. Now that it has been out for a while, the apple software team has fixed all of the bugs and it is now safe and recommended that you download and install the update using the software update application on your mac.
