Should I install adobe flash

I am missing out on dozens of photos or videos becayse I don't have Adobe Flash.  Is it safe to download it.  I have read negative Apple comments about it.

Yes, it's safe to use. Apple does not comment about it.

    Thanks

You should have no problem as long as you download it from www.adobe.com.
Other site that you can download from may have loaded a bunch of adware to the Flash Player that can be a royal pain you know where.

Should I install Adobe Flash on my Apple products?

It depends on what you do online. If you routinely view pages wth video, it is still hard not to have Flash.
If you decide to install it, be careful of where you get it. There are malware version out there. I will ONLY install flash form this site:
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Note that iOS devices do not support Flash. Mac computers do.

  • Should I install Adobe Flash Player on my MacBook Air?

    Hello everyone
I was wondering if I should install Adobe Flash Player.
I watch YouTube a lot and use Safari 7.0.5 as my web browser of choice.
I don't usually play many online games though.
However, there are some sites I use that require Adobe Flash Player.
    Thanks for all the recommendations

personally NO, unless you are using something that demands it.
aside the spat between adobe and apple, it does grind and hog the processor to death - hence why apple decided not to 'support' it.
-just take a look in activity monitor once it starts up.
    It (can) also leave vunerabliites to virus 'type' infections;
IF you do indeed decide to load it up, be VERY carefull where you get it from, and ignore ANY POP UP message about updates etc -
*ALWAYS* ONLY go Direct to the adobe flash site, never, never any other 3rd party site. both for install and updates.

  • Should i install adobe flash player on macbook pro with OSX

Just purchased my first macbook pro, I am thinking of installing Adobe Flash Player but wasnt sure if this is good idea or not. Any suggestions?

Sure - most of the content on YouTube - and much of the video content on the web - uses Flash technology.
Just make certain that you get it straight from Adobe -> http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/.
    Happy computing!

  • Should I install Adobe Flash on my MacBook Air?

Kind of afraid to install Adobe Flash on my new MacBook Air after the initial press regarding decreased battery life? Is there an optimized version for the Air? What are the Pros & Cons?

The latest 10.3 version of Flash works OK.  Although it is less resource intensive you will still experience shortened battery life when watching Flash videos, but not as bad as older versions.  You will find it at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads.

  • Should I install adobe flash update on my imac

A window popped up asking to install new Adobe Flash Version 11.4 Update. Should I do it? Does Apple want us to have Adobe Flash on my iMac at all? Thank you all for your comments and insight...

There is no reason not to have Flash player on your iMac. Be sure you install it from Adobe's web page, not some other (possibly hacked) version.
    Best of luck.

  • Should i install adobe flash player update

I thought I heard about a virus having to do with Adobe Flash and I keep getting asked to install the updated flash player. Should I?
    Thanks,

You should always keep up with Flash updates, because Flash can have security vulnerabilities that can compromise your machine.  (Admittedly, there has yet to be any malware that uses Flash to install on a Mac, but there's a first time for everything.)
However, the only way you should ever update Flash is by downloading the latest version directly from Adobe's site:
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer
There has been malware that pretends to be an Adobe Flash installer.  That is, in fact, where the infamous Flashback started out before switching tactics this year.  So never trust any site or e-mail that tells you that you need to update and provides a link!  Get it directly from Adobe instead.

  • Should I install Adobe Flash on my mac?

Is it a good idea to put Adobe Flash on my Mac?  It makes me nervous.

I suggest visiting ZDNet Security blog at least weekly
    http://www.zdnet.com/blog/security
The denial-of-service issue affects ColdFusion 9.0.1 and earlier versions for Windows, Mac OS X and UNIX.
    March 5:
Adobe Flash:  The vulnerabilities, rated “critical,” have been fixed for Windows, Macintosh, Linux and Solaris OS users.
    - goes against the 'wait to patch' theory somewhat depending on your browsing and other factors.  What Adobe does not say - sometimes they have had and been working on a patch for months and I recall reading an advisory about this upcoming patch.

if i cannot install adobe flash driver, what should i use?

Nothing else will work. Why can't you install it?

  • Can't install adobe flash player

i am not a techie, so the previous threads dont help me much -- not basic enough, i guess.   anyway, i cant seem to install adobe flash player.   i often click on a website or something, and it wont run because it says i need adobe flash player (had it before -- dont know what happened to ti).   when i follow the steps to download flash player, my computer freezes up and IE shuts down.  whats up, and how might i go forward?   and thanks in advance for helping out a non-techie.

Well, that should mean that nothing is running in realtime and should not interfere as McAfee would. I think this version of Ad-Aware was an On-Demand, you ran it when you wanted to, it didn't run automatically, is that correct?
Was the HJT just on the Desktop?
When you left click on Ad-Aware what happens? We can remove it, but it isn't causing a problem now so we'll do that later.
Did you have any ad block? What about pop-up blocker software installed?
In your Manage Add ons, the All add ons, can you pull out all ActiveX Controls(list them?) If not don't worry about it.
When you first began having problems, did you try to Install an older version of Flash Player thinking that would work?
Are there any other Anti-Virus/Spyware that you had installed before that wasn't Uninstalled that may still be running in realtime?
I'm trying to determine what caused the ActiveX Control error.
Do you know how to find the Flash folder? If not, I do. Just tell me.
    Thanks,
    eidnolb
P.S. I just noticed your last post. I'll check on that Wise Uninstall. Someone had that and I forgot what it was for. Will have to find the thread, first I had ever heard of it. Thanks

  • Frequent Fails when installing Adobe Flash Player (Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8.0, and Windows 8.1)

Constantly see the following error message from Adobe Flash Player Installer:
Error has been encountered. Close this window and try downloading again.
What in heck does that error message mean?
This message occurs most of the time when I try to update to the latest version of Adobe Flash Player.
It would be one thing if it was only occurring on Windows XP, but it shows up on Windows 7, Windows 8.0, and Windows 8.1 frequently.
Just for curiousity looked at the Windows 8.1 Event Viewer and NO error message shows up there.
    Would be nice to:
    (1) know what the error really is so that it can be reported to you to get it fixed once and for all.
    (2) have Adobe Flash Installer NOT to delete itself every time that the installer is run.
    (3) have an OFFLINE download installer to download and install Adobe Flash Player without the MacAfee installer.
    (4) have Adobe UNCHECK that the Install MacAfee installer that you have to opt out of each time you do an Adobe Flash Player download. You should make it to OPT IN not OPT OUT! Don't need another program installed without my permission. This causes issues when I have to uninstall MacAfee on computers that others in my family use.
It seems to takes up to 20 times to download the Adobe installer over a period of many days or weeks to get it to install properly.
I have written software for over 36 years as a computer programmer and now Senior Software Developer. I have do installers on my own and have to figure out how to solve my own issues on the installers to get them fixed.
This issue doesn't seem to be tied to any particular version of Windows... Same issue occurs on Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8.0, and Windows 8.1! The ONLY commonality seems to be Adobe Flash Player.
Certainly Adobe should be smart enough to fix this issue once and for all.
If the issue is that there is a network congestion error that it cannot download the installer, please say so and please please please DO NOT delete the downloaded installer every time that it is run on a PC.
I'd like to fix the security issues with the Adobe Flash Player AS SOON as there is a patch for it. I don't like having security issues over a long period of time.
Please address this issue so that I can put this to bed and not have to keep sending you messages that once again the Adobe Flash Player Installer is yet again broken!
Certainly you have a staff at Adobe that CAN fix this problem quickly!

more information about errors can be found in the FlashInstall.log file in C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash (and the SysWOW64 equivalent on 64-bit systems)
the offline installers (below) do not delete themselves
you can find the offline installers
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
the offline installers are not bundled with any 3rd-party crapware
