Should I keep ipod touch?

I got the 4g two days ago, and the battery life on this thing is terrible. So far from reading the forums, everyone's is as well. Is there going to be an update for this thing, or should I go ahead and return it?

If you read support forums, you're going to see people with problems. That's why they're writing in. But I don't believe most people have troubles. I have a 3gen touch and no issues with battery life. But I have my mail set to manually get and don't use push data.
Sorry your battery life is "terrible". If there's an update or fix we wouldn't really know about it until it's released, same as you. If you haven't found anything helpful in the forums for your particular situation, then maybe a trip to the Apple store would be useful. If they think everything checks out okay and it's just the way it is, then maybe you would be happier without it. Guess that's kind of a personal decision.
Good luck.

  • Should i buy ipod touch 5g now or wait?

Should i buy ipod touch 5g now or wait? I read in here, many people said this model has many problems, frozen screens, titles songs are not line up in order, imessage can't send, etc.. what do you think?
I can afford for the 32g, the first one i had was nano and i dont' want to waste and upset if it's not good as it should be. Or i should wait until September when the new one come out?

There is no fifth-generation iPod touch at this time. The current units are still the forth-generation hardware.
As to seeing issues here, that's what these forums are for, people with problems. Those millions who are having no problems have little incentive to post here, so you get a skewed viewpoint as to how prevalent any problems really are. It's rather like judging the overall health of a community only by visiting the local hospital. The reality is that you're most likely going to have no problems at all, though no one can guarantee that, of course.
Anyway, it's up to you whether you wish to wait. None of us here know when Apple will release a new model of the iPod touch, nor even if they will, so your guess is as good as ours how long you might have to wait.
    Regards.

  • Keep iPod Touch 2G connected to Mac when at desk?

When I'm using my iPod Touch 2G at my desk, should I keep it plugged into my Mac?
After the battery is charged to 100%, is the iPod running off the power from the Mac
or is it running off the battery?
Which will make the battery last longer?
    1. Keeping it plugged into the Mac
    or
    2. Unplugging it after the battery is 100% charged?

It doesn't matter. When the battery is fully charged, it will stop charging. When the Touch is plugged into the computer it's using power from the computer.

  • Should I buy iPod touch 5 or iPhone 5?

Okay, so I had an iPod touch 3 a couple of years ago, until the battery died and I decided to invest in an iPhone 4. Unfortunately, the screen was damaged on that, so I had to buy a new phone. I really wanted the iPhone 4S, until I realized that the Verizon version was not 4G. Now I have a droid razr maxx-and miss my iPhone!!! I really want the iPhone 5, but am not sure that $650 is worth it? Is it? Or should I use my mobile hotspot feature on my droid and make an iPod touch 5 like an iPhone??? Please help!!! By the way, my contract is up next August 2013.

I'm a Verizon customer, and using your Droid as a hotspot for an iPod is just plain stupid.  The deal is, you get hammered if you go over your data limit.  We have the "Share Everything" plan which gives us unlimited text and talk, but we are limited to 6 giga bytes of data use.  If we go over that limit, Verizon will throttle the connection speed and charge for every thing over that 6 gigs.  NOT a good idea.
Do yourself a favor:  Wait until your phone is due for an upgrade.  You won't have to pay full price for your phone.
Or, if your phone decides to take a gravity assisted trip to the pavement......

  • Should I buy iPod Touch 4g or wait for 5g ?

I want to buy an iPod touch but I'm confused that whether I should buy iPod Touch 4g or wait for the 5g to come ? Please help. I would also like to know when is Ipod 5g likely to come ?

No one knows when or if another iPod Touch will be produced. If anyone claims to know they're lying. Besides, speculating about future or unreleased products is against this support site's terms of use.
For what it's worth the iPod Touch is amazing, and I'm sure you will enjoy many years of use. Every day that goes by waiting for a new one is a day you could have been enjoying yours.
    Hope this helps you decide!

  • How to keep ipod touch from changing networks

I want to lock my iPod touch 2G to a specific network and not have it change and drop it's connectivity. I have ten networks at work and it keeps jumping from network to network. Any ideas on doing this?

    if wifi networks in settings
    there is an option called
    "ask to join networks"
you may want to set that to no if you
dont want the ipod touch to select the network
    with the best signal quality

  • Should I avoid iPod Touch and go for the classic?

I currently am using an old 256mb player, and I need a new ipod, its getting ordered next week or so... (xmas present, so I gotta wait until christmas.)
I have 27gb of media, but only 6.7 gb of songs in iTunes. Most people say, well you got so much, get the classic. What is really stopping me from getting the classic is that the ipod touch has wifi. I have a wifi network in my house, and now that I sold my PSP and my laptop is gone, I cant sit in my living room and browse the internet. I really miss that. I am worried about a few things with the ipod touch:
    1. Not enough storage for me - I will have to have a mixed bag of media
    2. Reports of touchscreen becoming unresponsive after a few weeks +
    3. Battery life and reliability - short battery life and it is expensive to replace when it really dies
    4. No games that can be played when wifi isnt around - yet
The things I like about the touch is:
    1. WIFI - I love safari and I am a youtube addict
    2. Widescreen - so much nicer to watch vids on a widescreen
    3. Thin - my ipod will always be in my pocket, so the thinner the better
    4. Glass multitouch screen - makes you feel like your part of the device
    5. OSX - since it is more of a portable computer, there are endless possibilities with it - remember, apple comes out with a SDK in feb...
    6. Amazing cover flow
    Disadvantages of classic:
    1. Hard drive is less reliable than flash
    2. No wifi
    3. Smaller screen
    4. No option to fit videos and pics to screen while watching them on ipod
    5. Cover flow feels like crap after using a touch/iphone
    Advantages:
    1. Hard drive - more storage
    2. Longer lasting and cheaper battery
    3. Cheaper
    4. In its 6th gen so you dont have to worry as much about its technology failing like you do with the touch
    5. GAMES - I am always on the go and would love to be able to play texas hold em, I am a major texas hold em freak.
I went to the apple store 4 times since the new ipods were release, and EVERY SINGLE TIME I walk out saying "Ok, iPod touch it is." Then I get home and open iTunes and sit down and realize that it just isn't enough storage. I have had a 4gb ipod mini 2nd gen and a 2gb ipod nano second gen in the past and with both devices I have had to choose what I wanted on my iPod, I am really sick of that. Let me know what you guys think. BTW my mini eventually died and I sold the nano because I was in need of money.
Lastly, my budget limit is $300, so its 80gb iPod Classic vs 8gb ipod touch.
On a side note my name isn't rebecca and I am not a girl... I am Garrett, and am a male college student. Thanks...

i got my 16GB touch about a week ago and I LOVE IT. There is only one problem that I can see with it and that is the SHEAR FEAR of damaging it. I mean the thing is pretty much all screen. I know its hardy and hard to scratch but unfortunately it is possible and you will absolutely HATE YOURSELF if you scratch your baby hehe. But with a case and a screenprotector you can diminish that fear.
I also agree with A A P L that the touch is currently the only iPod on the market that can progressively get better. I mean with the classic sure software updates will improve functionality but your pretty much stuck with what you get the day you bring it home. But with the touch, with all the apps that were gonna get on it, we will always have new features commin out.
Sure there are a few software bugs but what do you expect with a brand new piece of technology. There are really no hardware problems that afflict all ipod touchs except what you mentioned about battery life. But there are even ways to get around that. All in all I am very happy with my purchase and I feel with the touch you will be too.

  • Should I buy Ipod Touch 2 G. 16 gb...

I have a question. Do you guys think it would be a good idea to buy a Ipod Touch, when I already have a Ipod Classic 80gb. I'm mostly thinking about buying it for all the great apps and games.

I did exactly what you did. I had an 80Gb Ipod video (Gen5) then got a 32Gb ipod touch (gen1) and I love it. The touch interface is summat else and much better than the control wheel. You mite not be able to put as much music on but it just means you manage your collection a bit better.

  • Should I turn iPod Touch off, or sleep?

When I do not plan to use my iPT for many hours, e.g. overnight, is it "best" to simply let it sleep, or should I turn it off?

If it's going to be "down" for more that 3 or 4 hours then I turn it off.
Which will certainly do no harm. However, it's not necessary, nor will it harm the Touch if you don't turn it off.

  • Apple should replace stolen ipod touchs

why doesnt apple a tracker on ipods cause mine got stolen

No company does this.  Why would you think that Apple should?
This is not done with any company for any product.  What company tracks its products?  It would be a violation of privacy laws and would be met with outrage from consumers and the media if companies were tracking the movements and locations of their products.
What company replaces a product that was stolen?  Ford? no. Sony? No.  Samsung? no.  Motorola?  no  Microsoft? no  anyone?
Apple has a location program.  All you had to do was set it up on your ipod.
It is not designed for stolen iphones, but can find the device under certain circumstances.

  • How many hours should i charge iPod touch for the first time?

    please help.

Charge as long as you want. If the battery indicator have a plug image then it's full otherwise you see a lightning image. Apple advices to discharge (use it till it's empty) once a month to prolong battery life.

  • How many monte should  a new iPod 5g keeps the charge

What is you question? In one place you ay "How many monte should a new iPod 5g kepps it charge" and in another "How many minutes should a new
iPod touch fifth generation should keep the charts"
What is the iPod doing during the time period?
    Apple say:
Music playback time: Up to 40 hours when fully charged
Video playback time: Up to 8 hours when fully charged
    However, uses report less time.

  • Can't select calendar with creating event on iPod touch

Hi everyone - Thanks in advance for your help!
    Here's the deal:
I have 4 calendars on Google Calendar. I use google's "Calaboration" to push those calendars to apple ical on my macbook pro. Those calendars then show up just as they should on my ipod touch. All that works like a song. Couldn't be happier.
To be clear, those are the ONLY 4 calendars I use. I have not, and don't plan to create any others in ical.
HOWEVER, when I try to create an event using my IPT, it will not allow me to select which of those 4 calendars I want to use. I can see the field where I would do so, but it's grayed out. Instead, it creates a 5th calendar called, creatively "calendar" and puts the event there.
The new "calendar" shows up in ical on my MBP, but of course does not sync to google.
What's worse, I can't even change which calendar I want it to show up on in ical on my MBP.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    J

I think I solved it unless someone knows a better way (likely). I went from manually manage to auto sync. That drastically increased my free space. Apparently that made the "keep only newest episode" command go from itunes to the ipod.
Once my space was freed up I went back to manually manage so I could use smart playlists again.

  • Will Apple cover me if updating to iOS5 on ipod Touch 3rd gen ruins/bricks it?

I have heard stories of some people's apple products not working/bricked after attempting to upgrade to iOS5.
I have a 1.5 year old ipod Touch 3rd gen. No warranty on it from Apple (tho I do have one from Square Trade for ADH, but I called them and they said if it is a software issue, they don't cover it.)
I am very concerned about d/ling the ios5 upgrade and it ruining my ipod touch.  In effect, I will take a device that could fetch almost $200 on ebay (which I could then use to upgrade to a Touch 5gen), and turn it into a worthless piece of junk if I upgrade and it ruins it.
Also, I know that they have released 5.0.1 (beta I believe?) for update.   I still read stories on here from people waiting until now (Nov, a month after it was first released when so many people tried to d/l it and had terrible problems), but now are still getting network timed out error msgs, etc.
So is there ANY protection from Apple if their update should screw my ipod touch??
Should I just wait longer for a final, stable version  of ios 5? (like v5.1)  Or just totally skip the iOS 5 upgrade and stay safe with iOS 4?  I don't know that it is really worth the $200 loss risk to upgrade to iOS5.  (i.e. 3rd gen doesn't have the ability to find and lock/wipe my lost touch, etc.)
I do know that I should:
    1) install itunes 10.5 anew on my laptop  (itunes and syncing WAS done on my tower, until I just got it back from being serviced for some Major problems/virues/malware/etc.  I'm not comfortable using it, as the problems on it included not being able to start Local Services, connect to the internet, no audio services, etc.  The guy says it is booting up and services are working now, but you never know....But i digress...)
    2) be on AC and not battery on my laptop
    3) be hardwired (ethernet) to the internet and not use my wireless connection
    4) turn off Windows 7 Firewall, and disable my PC Tools Spyware Docter with Antivirus.
So, what do you all think? should I wait until later to upgrade to say os 5.1?  Should I even RISK upgrading to iOS5 on a touch 3gen and lose almost $200 cash?  And will Apple give me ANY protection should it ruin my touch?  (I seriously doubt it.)
    Thanks for input.

Before proceeding with the update, it wouldn't hurt to manually back up the iPod in iTunes by right->clicking on it from under the Devices section and choosing Backup.    See this article for more information on what is stored in the backup.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4946
Also make sure that any content you may have synced to the device from iTunes, such as Music, movies, TV Shows, podcasts, etc. are all stored on your computer and in iTunes before updating the iPod's version of iOS.
Otherwise, I would go ahead with the upgrade.  I didn't have any issues with it on my iPhone.
