Should I keep the iPad 2 plugged in whenever I can?

I have seen many discussions regarding Lithium-Ion batteries but am not yet sure whether I should keep my new iPad 2 plugged in to the power outlet whenever I can conveniently do so?  As long as I deplete the battery completely once a month as suggested at http://www.apple.com/batteries/ipad.html, having the power adapater plugged in would reduce the overall number of charge cycles and thereby enhance the life of the battery, or?
Would it be better to unplug it when it is fully charged in order to not overheat/overcharge the iPad?
Thanks for any advice!
Nancy

The best maintenance for any battery is to use it as much as possible.  Charge it when the battery gets low (turns red).  I let mine go as low as possible considering my circumstances (when I'm just sitting at home is one thing, when I'm on the go, it's another).
Batteries (no matter the technologly behind them), do best when the battery is used like it's supposed to - use until it needs charging, then charge to full charge.  Leaving the charger on there causes no risk - it can't overcharge and shouldn't ever overheat.  BUT - don't leave your iPad charging ALL THE TIME.  It's best way to have a battery that won't hold it's charge when you need it to.
I've seen all too many folks who've had laptops, keeping them plugged in all the time, then wonder why when they do use the battery, it no longer works.  I hear the same thing:  "I haven't even used the battery!".
Just remember, batteries are meant to be USED...so let them do their job.  Charge/Discharge/Charge....and so on.
Cheers!

  • Should I keep the iPad or throw out my annoying tablet

First when I got hrp my iPad 3 I was blown away with the retina display ans the design on the other hand the Samsung  tablet  Desighn was good and I don't need my fingers to touch the screen but is not 100% reyclable it's actually 20%. And if I do throw it out I'm just wasting money. Please help

I have no idea what you are actually asking!
Should I keep the iPad or throw out my annoying tablet
By "tablet", do you mean the Samsung, or are you now referring to the iPad as a tablet?
but is not 100% reyclable it's actually 20%  - and your point is?
if I do throw it out I'm just wasting money - if you throw out something that works, simply because it's less recyclable then something else, then yes, you are wasting your money - and negating the value of re-cycling!
I'm not sure what "help" you need, nor what advice you expect anyone here to give, but if you want to chuck out either an iPad, or a Samsung tablet, send it to me!

Copied from Texas Mac Man ...
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Keep the broadband hub plugged in and on all the t...

The subject is my question, do I keep the broadband hub plugged in and turned on all the time... apart of course  when I go on holiday I shall turn if off and unplug it. whilst I am home I am presuming I leave it on all the time??
I have looked for an answer to my problem but couldn't find anything.. maybe its a dumb question... I have never had broad band before, I had a dongle and left it on most of the time.
I have limited data, 10gb per month.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It's recommended that you leave it on.
Turning it on and off too often looks like a faulty line so far as the exchange (or cabinet for Infinity) is concerned, and that could drop your broadband speed.  However, just turning it off at night wouldn't be a problem.
If your speed ever drops because of a spate of interference, for instance in a big storm, then it's best to leave it on all the time, including overnight.  That way the exchange sees a nice stable connection for several days, and bumps the speed back up to what it should be.
Turning the Hub off when you go on holiday is fine, unless something (such as BT TV) is going to need it.

I rarely if ever turn my iPad off. I charge it when the battery is low or at night while I'm sleeping. Even then I close the Smart Cover and let it sleep but I do not turn it off. It doesn't matter when you charge the iPad.
The most efficient way to charge the iPad is to use the charger that came with it and plug that into a known good wall outlet.

  • Can I keep the power cord plugged in when battery reaches 100%l?

    Hello,
I'm assuming the battery stops recharging when it reaches 100%, right? In other words I can keep the power chord plugged in without any risk of "overcharging". Correct?
    Thanks.

Hey, I was having the same problem,, i just got mine to work. Take off everything but your apps (meaning take off pictures, music, ringtones, movies, tv shows, etc just leave on the apps) Then go up to the top and go to Store and turn off Genius. Restore your iPhone (It'll ask you to back up, click yes.) Restore from back up, Let your apps come back then when those are done add each category one by one. (i.e. click Photos -> Sync Photos and let them finish, then click something else like music) Hope this helps!

  • With the new ipad coming out soon, why should I buy the ipad 2?

with the new ipad coming out soon, why should I buy the ipad 2?

I can only echo what Pogo says about buying based on what it does today.
3 weeks ago I bought a Mac Mini. A new Mac Mini model has been rumoured to come out anywhere between the same week I made my purchase and the end of August. None's been released as yet.
I wanted one in the week of June that I bought mine so I bought it based on the fact that it did what I wanted and I couldn't imagine anything which could be added that I'd want - my MacBook Pro doesn't have Thunderbolt so the most likely addition isn't really going to be much use for me.
Basically you have to buy what you what based on what's out at the the time.
I can promise that within seconds of the iPad3 being released, the web will be full of rumours about the next one!

How do I clear up this Issue?  Error Message:  This iPad hs not been backed up for 3 weeks. Backups happen when the iPad is plugged in, locked and connected to Wi-Fi.
I plugged it in and it is charging now.  It will not allow me to unlock it and when I push the 'ok' button for the error message, it still appears....will not go away.
Do I just allow it to charge and it will automatically backup itself?  If not, what do I do?

Hold the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release.  This will restart the phone and give you access again.
To troubleshoot your iCloud backup, try deleting your last backup by turning off iCloud Backup in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, then tap Manage Storage, swipe across your backup and tap Delete, then go back and turn iCloud Backup back on again.  If it still won't back up, you may have an app that is preventing the backup from succeeding.  To locate which one, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of your device under Backups, under Backup Options tap Show All Apps, then turn them all to Off (including camera roll) and try backing up again.  If it succeeds, then the camera roll and/or one of your apps is preventing the backup and you'll have to located by process of elimination. Turn the camera roll On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds, turn some of your apps to On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds again, turn some more apps to On then try again; repeat this process until it fails.  Eventually you'll be able to locate the problem app and exclude it from your backup.

  • When should I charge the ipad?

when should I charge the ipad?

As an FYI, you don't have to run the battery all the way down. What is recommended is one full charge cycle at least once a month.
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/
    Exercise Your Machine
Lithium-ion polymer batteries need to be used for maximum performance. If you don’t use your device often, be sure to complete a charge cycle at least once a month.
A charge cycle means using all of the battery’s power, but that doesn’t necessarily mean a single charge. For instance, you could listen to your iPod for a few hours one day, using half its power, and then recharge it fully. If you did the same thing the next day, it would count as one charge cycle, not two, so you may take several days to complete a cycle.

  • Should i buy the ipad 2 even though i got a new pc?

should I get the ipad if i just got a new pc?

I love my iPad, but it really depends on what you think you'd do with one.  I have a laptop, but the portability of the iPad has it beat.  However, if you need to do a lot of work work, access and modify documents, work with spreadsheets, etc., you may find iPad a bit of a letdown.  For me, all I do workwise on my iPad is read and answer email.  Otherwise, it's just a brilliant entertainment device.  All the apps are fun.  I have a book library through iBooks and Kindle.  I read magazines through Zinio.  I watch TV and movies through Netflix.  I listen to Pandora radio and just have a great time when I'm using my iPad.
You just need to think about what you need iPad to do for you.
