Should I purchase ADDT

Hi Everyone-
I've been developing PHP applications for about 4 years. All using PHP Designer, which is basically notepad with syntax highlighting and error checking. Of course I've also gotten fairly involved with javascript, and over the last year a lot more CSS.
I purchased DW CS3 about a week ago and following along in a book to get a understanding on how to use the app. So far, in my opinion, I am amazed by how much time I will save by using this tool. I cannot wait to be fluent, because I expect to increase product by 5x's what I am doing now. I feel like a caveman that just discovered fire...
I just read some information about ADDT. It seems like it would be an incredible tool, and timesaver as well. But, how is the code that it generates as far a readability, ease of changes. Any bugginess to it? Anyone deal with integrating it into existing PHP apps? It seems like a godsend to me, like it would increase my production times even more.
Anyone else who feels confident in laying down PHP straight into an editor move to ADDT and happy that the did?
Thanks to anyone who's spent the time to read through my novel....

Charlie,
ADDT has been a great time saver for me. It is great for quickly turning around small to medium applications. Check out the Dynamic List Wizard, and the Dynamic Form Wizard. Just those two tools alone make it worth it for me. All the Form Wizards and extra Form Controls are great. The ease of Form Validation is awesome, and it does both client side and server side form validation. You can use it's built in form validation for things such as email and phone numbers, but you can also use regular expressions to validate the data. ADDT helps you easily control what kind of data your form will accept, which is great for security, and it protects against MySQL injection attacks.
With your knowledge of PHP, you should have no problem understanding the code it produces and customizing the code for you application. I think you have a big advantage with this tool if you have a decent knowledge of PHP and MySQL(as in my case, I know there are other languages/databases supported by ADDT).
Please be advised that, just like any other tool, there is a learning curve and there is not any direct Adobe support for this tool. You will have to do quite a bit of reading of the documentation, tutorials, and forums to get your information. Even though there is no direct Adobe support, there is a fairly active community on these forums for support.
ADDT does have some quirks, but all issues I have had using it have been solved by reading the forums. Some of these issues can be a pain, but the longer I've worked with the ADDT tools, the more I've learned to avoid most of them.
As for "integrating it into existing PHP apps", I have not done this myself. It would probably depend on the application.

Want to send all dictation to Word.
I have Dragon.  Should I purchase Dragon Premium or Dragon for Mac?

Care to share which OS you are using?
OS has its own dictation program.
Should I purchase Dragon Premium or Dragon for Mac?
Only you can make that determination.  Read the system requirements for both and read the reviews.

  • What size external hard drive should I purchase

What size external hard drive should I purchase?  I'm not tech savvy, so please speak slowly.  I'm looking at OWC Mini Stack Classic to match my  older Mac Mini.  Do I need 500 GB, 1 TB or more?      Plus, I have to add memory to upgrade to Snow Leopard.  How much memory do I need and should I have an expert install it ?
    Mac OSX version 10.5.8
    Mac mini 3.1
Processor 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory  2GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    1 Processor
    2 Cores
    L2 Cache 3MB
    Memory 2GB
    BUS Speed 1.07 GHz
    Boot ROM Version MM3.1.0081.B06
    SMC version 1.35f0
    Hard Drive
    Format MAC OS Extended
    Capacity 297.77 GB
    Available 238.69 GB
    Used 59.08 GB on disk

    Good points raised by all.
In my mini configs - both older and newer flatter model - I have kept their ministack external drive on top of the mini; with 3 or 4 little rubber feet added to the mini's base to give it a bit more elevation from the surface they are sitting on and a bit better chance to breathe. I'm not impressed by the very small air intakes on the bottom and the hot air that often comes out the back or how warm the case feels. Especially in the heat of summer.
I do turn the ministacks on/off as needed (primarily for backups once a week) as they're not entirely quiet and sometimes seem to have a low hum vibration. Nothing crazy. I just like it as dead quiet as possible sometimes. Plus the fan does not turn off even if the mini and ministack drive have shut down.  The newer wide & slim model does seem a bit quieter than the older model.
Check through system profiler to see if your system has 2x1GB or 1x2GB. Most likely it is 2x1GB and you'd need to remove both to double your ram. On the off chance it has a free slot; a single 2GB stick would get you to 4GB. Check on the cost difference between the 2x2GB kit and a 2x4GB kit.  I have an older core duo mini that functions fine with 2x2GB of RAM and 10.6.8. But, if you plan to continue to use the mini for several more years as a primary machine including upgrading the OS to Yosemite; it might not be a bad idea to just max it to 2x4 8GB. Yosemite really likes RAM to maximize performance.
Along the lines of keeping the same mini and doing upgrades. The biggest speed improvements are made by replacing the original internal hard drive with a flash drive. Of course this is a more technical upgrade, you really need to take the mini apart more and you have to weigh the cost of the upgrades and possibly paying somebody to do them; vs the cost of a newer system which would have a significantly faster processor and other improvements.

  • For the 2013 versions of macbook pro should I purchase 32 bit windows or 64 bit version to be able to install it on macbook and use windows with bootcamp?

for the 2013 versions of macbook pro should I purchase 32 bit windows or 64 bit version to be able to install it on macbook and use windows with bootcamp?

Then you might check at any of the other university book stores or software stores or any computer store in town for the 64-bit version.
If you want to use the 32-bit version from the school (you probably get it for free or very cheap) then you could purchase Parallels and run it as a virtual machine concurrently with OS X. There are some caveats:
    1. You have to purchase Parallels (there may be an academic discount.) List is $79.95.
    2. Your computer needs minimally 4 GBs of RAM, but realistically 8 GBs would be better.
    3. Parallels creates a pseudo-drive on your hard drive. It could easily require 50 GBs of disk space.
Accommodating these might be more costly than buying 64-bit Windows 7. And, if you look online you may find them with an academic discount (or may be able to order it through the school.)

You've been infected by a scam trojan.  You don't need any anti-virus software on your Mac.  See the following about getting rid of the trojan.

Removing strange software can be a task.  The following outlines various ways of uninstalling software:
    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a Startup item or a Log In item.  Startup items are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the Delete [-] button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, Easy Find, instead.  Download Easy Find at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Note that you must have this software installed before you install software you may need to uninstall.  Uninstallers won't work if you install them after the fact.  Here is a selection:
    AppZapper
    Automaton
    Hazel
    CleanApp
    Yank
    SuperPop
    Uninstaller
    Spring Cleaning
Look for them and others at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
For more information visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQs on removing software and dealing with spyware and malware.
After removing all the components of the software you may have to restart the computer to fully disable the software.  This will be the case when removing software that has installed a daemon.  After the daemon has been removed you need to restart the computer to stop the daemon.  Alternatively, you can kill the daemon process using the Terminal application or Activity Monitor.

I have two iMac's one running 10.6.8 and the other 10.8.2  What Apeture program should I purchase?

You can currently only buy the current version Aperture 3.4.3 at the AppStore, and that version requires MacOS X 10.7.5. at least, see the release notes: Aperture 3.4.3
So you will not be able to install this version on your Snow leopard machine. Maybe you can buy a boxed retail version of an earlier release, compatible with Snow Leopard, but the newer version is faster and compatible with iCloud.
Do your iMacs both have the same processors and memory? You will wan to use your fastest mac with the best graphics card and the most RAM to run Aperture, also a large screen would be desirable.

  • What word processing program should I purchase for iMac

What word processing program should I purchase for iMac

    Hi
Pages is very good as a Word Processor but it lacks the ability to do Macros if you continually do a repeat operation.  For me I cut and paste text from another source and it needs reformatting Font; bold, size, colour every time I do it.  It is a real pest.
Many years ago Word Perfect Mac could do this [still the best wordprocessor interface] also [from memory] Apple Works had the ability to record macros.
A current MAC wordprocessor to look at which will do pretty much everything INCLUDING MACROS is Nisus Writer.  Express version is $49, Pro version $79 and it has a free 15 day demo.
    Cheers

  • What should I purchase to download my checkbook?

What should I purchase to download and reconcile my checkbook?

I would start with what does your bank support, then look at the selection of software to you.  Can you open QFX files in Numbers so you can just download the latest transactions, open in Numbers, select the newest ones, copy, then paste into a file where you keep your transations.

use a free virtual machine such as virtualbox https://www.virtualbox.org/

  • I have a iMac(2013 24inch)  (10.8.3) and have been told by Mpix to calibrate my monitor using ColorMunki. Should I purchase "Photo" or "Display" HELP?

I have a iMac (2013- 24inch) 10.8.3 and have been told by Mpix to calibrate my monitor. Should I purchase Colormunki Photo or colormunki display? I am new to this calibration thing. I would appreciate any experienced advice about which item to purchase and why. Thanks

The Color Munki Display is limited to calibrating displays.  The Color Munki Photo can be used to calibrate displays, projectors, and printers.
The CM Display is less expensive and meets your needs.  If you are using an outside printing service, or are printing on standard papers using popular printers (e.g.: Epson Hot Press on an Epson 3880), there is no advantage, IME, to making your own printing profiles.  I have long used a CM Photo and have found it an excellent value.
The MPix recommendation is spot-on.  You might find some good tips in this post as well.

  • Hi! I am using Snow Leopard 10.6.8, iTunes 10.6.3 on my Intel i3 iMac and should I purchase the latest iPad, would I be able to set up, synch and use it without iCloud? Regards Neil

Hi! I am using Snow Leopard 10.6.8, iTunes 10.6.3 on my Intel i3 iMac and should I purchase the latest iPad, would I be able to set up, synch and use it without iCloud? Also, would iWork files be interchangeable between the two bevices? And...could information from the Mac be transferred into iBooksAuthor? Regards Neil

You may need to update iTunes to iTunes 11 but you can do that running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I would recommend running iTunes 11 anyway. It is a bit different in the user interface, but it works the same that it did in 10.6.3.
You can transfer iWorks files back and forth without iCloud but you will need to use file sharing with iTunes. However, you will have to purchase the iPad versions of those apps becuse the Mac versions will not work on the iPad if you were thinking about using the Mac apps.
You can read about file sharing here
iWork for iOS: About iTunes File Sharing
Sorry, but I know nothing about iBooks Author.
