Should I reload ITunes yet again?
My iTunes started to freeze during syncing over a week ago. It started just after I updated to iTunes 8.2. Thinking that the new version was to blame, I uninstalled it and put back version 8.1. The problem persisted. I thought maybe it was my iPod (iPod classic 80gb). I "restored" my iPod. Now, with my iPod wiped clean, I tried again to start syncing tracks, and when I connected my iPod I eventually got a message from Itunes that it cannot read the iPod and suggested I restore it. Even though the iPod was already restored, I decided to give it as try, but the restore failed, due to some "unknown error."
I don't know what to do. The only thing I can think of is to uninstall iTunes, and make sure that I delete all previous versions that may be hiding somewhere on my hard rive, and then re-install the latest version, 8.2. I am curious to know if anyone has any ideas of what I could do to get my iTunes to recognize and start working with my iPod.
I would do a re-install of iTunes and put the iPod in manual.
If that worked then I'd try syncing.

Both of the CD/DVD drives on my desktop computer quit working. I had to change registry settings to get them to work again and after that iTunes gives me a message on startup that I need to reload iTunes because of the change in registry settings. I'm concerned that if I reload iTunes that my drives will quit working again though I don't know why they quit working in the first place. Is there a known problem or incompatability with some drives and iTunes. What is it about the registry settings that iTunes requires my CD/DVD drives settings to work or not to work? I've read some of the support articles about reinstalling the iTunes upper filters in the registry but I don't like the idea that iTunes seems to be saying that they are the ones that will be in control of what CD burning software that I am allowed to use on my computer. If I put the iTunes upper filters back on the computer will I not be able to use other CD burning software again? If I reload iTunes will it interfere with the use of the other software, or, if I use the other software again will I have to go back and reload iTunes or reset my registry every time. This seems to me to be a problem that iTunes should fix so that they don't interfere with other computer operations.

Can anyone assist me, because I am about to hurt my lil sister. I purchase a new Ipod touch yesterday and I have not synced it to itunes yet. She attempted to set up a passcode and disabled it. I tried to restore the Ipod but when the passcode came up again I came back to the same thing. Disabled! Can someone help me pleeeease!!!

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

I have a Power Book OS 10.4.11 and cant access my radio library. I believe I deleted something I should not have. How do I reload Itunes and will I loose my music I loaded? I do not have the original software. I was trying to free up some memory and removed the wrong thing.
If you mean the listing of internet streams that seems to have disappeared for many users of older iTunes versions over week ago. Probably some update at Apple broke older versions. No idea if it will ever come back but you can open stream URLs you find on the web and save them in playlists.

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

I had a virus on the pc I have itunes on. The person who fixed it, put all files in 1 file and put it on the desktop. I could not access the itunes at all so finally, I reloaded Itunes and got all my music back. When I synched both my ipods, it had to erase the ipod and load the current page...no problem. Today I had my ipod on shuffle and the songs started to play. Then a song came on and it played part of the song and went to the next one. It started doing this on about every 3 songs. I got home and tried to play the song off my itunes page and the samething happened. This is music I bought from itunes.
I am not a pc person and this is totally frustrating me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My iPod touch is permanently disabled and it says to connect my iPod to my iTunes yet when I do that, it tells me to type in pass code even though it's still disabled. PLEASE HELP ME
I have the same problem with mine... but im trying to find a way to fix it without restoring it...
but one fix is to shut it down completely ... then press and hold BOTH the power button and the home button .. hold both of those 4 ten seconds .. then release the power button but still hold down the home button .. and then it'll show something that says "connect to itunes" once u get it connected to itunes , click the restore button ... BEWARE THIS WILL WIPE OUT EVERYTHING ON YOUR IPOD!!! IT WILL RESTORE IT BACK TO FACTORY SETTINGS , AS IF U JUST BOUGHT IT !!!!! then it should work fine again .. but u will lose all data on there besides the things you have synced with itunes already..

Windows also recognizes it as a drive, yet i cant access it(not named) and it just freezes windows explorer.Did you try restoring the iPod to factory settings.

my ipod has been having some problems recently. i get the sad icon, the folder icon, and then after a couple hours of charging, it starts working again. but wehn i try to plug it into the my computer, itunes doesn't register it and neither does the update. so when i try to disconnect it from my comp. i have to take the plug out when it still says do not disconnect b/c it freezes. should i try reloading itunes? or is my ipod totally ruined?
I honestly don't think that uninstalling and the reinstalling iTunes will make a difference, but it can't hurt to try.

How can I stop music and movies from being automatically deleted from my phone and saved on the cloud? I've just tried to watch a movie on my 2 hour commute, but yet AGAIN it has been removed. I do NOT want to spank all of my data allowance downloading it again, especially because (believe it or not) I added it to my phone because that's precisely where I wanted it!! Any help much appreciated

But in terms of my initial query; thanks for responding. But no, this is NOT the cause of the problem. I have auto sync and sync over wifi activated, but have also selected manually manage music and videos. Plus, all of my music and videos are on my macbook, absolutely all of it, so if it my phone was syncing with my macbook everything would still be on the phone. Life would be peachy if my phone jsut copied everything that was on my macbook, but unfortuantely it keeps deleting tracks for no apparent reason.
Any thoughts greatly welcomed, because at the moment i can only conclude that my iphone is crap. -

Reloaded Itunes on an XP machine. Reloaded because Itunes would not open. Now when I play a movie that is in my library, the movie plays for aprx. 60 seconds and then reverts back to my Itunes library. Does it with all movies in the library, Most where downloaded from Itunes. Any ideas on a cure?
This "original file cannot be found" thing happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

my computer has been seen at Genius bar 6 times for freezing up, reloaded all original settings, all of their diagnostics, and they even sent it to the apple shop where they replaced the battery and logic board. Still freezes after I try to reload iTunes stuff and app stuff from apple, especially iPhoto which is seems to refuse to load and then begins freezing up all over again. Anyone else have this problem. Other than this, I have had absolutely no problems with this computer. Now, it's a file of junk.

Have you checked lately to see how much free space there is on the disk? Especially since iPhoto freezes at launch ...
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage
Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space.
And make sure the OS X software is up to date.
Click the Apple top left in your screen.
From the drop down menu click: Software Update
If you have anti virus software installed or are using third party Mac cleaning utiliites, that may be part and parcel of the your problems. -
All of my music is missing from iTunes since my last computer died and had to get a new one. How do I get that music back without having to pay for it again? I've read somewhere there is a "form to request to download iTunes purchases again", is this true?
Media should be included with the backup of the computer that all users should be creating on a regular basis as part of basic computer/data maintenance.
In the event that you do not have a backup (stop being lazy.... keep backups of YOUR data and other important files)
If you are in the US and running iTunes 10.3 or later, it is possible to redownload music via iCloud from purchased history.
If you are not in the US or for some reason cannot run iTunes 10.3 or later, contact iTunes customer support and ask very nicely for the opportunity to redownload the content. They are not required to provide this opportunity.
It is also possible to transfer content from an iDevice that was purchased via iTunes. On the new computer, sign into the iTunes account, authorize the computer, connect the device then select File > Transfer Purchases.
The simplest method of all is to transfer or copy the media (and other important files) from the old computer or the backup of the old computer. Typing "move itunes library" into the search bar here or into google will reveal step by step instructions on how to do this. -

hello, normally such issues are caused by a firewall/security software which doesn't recognize & therefore blocks new firefox versions. please remove all program rules for firefox from your firewall and let it detect the new version of the browser again.
