Should I send in my ipod touch 5th generation?

The new update has messed up my battery life and I am starting to see my wifi connection slow down. I have chatted here with an apple helper and they sent me a box to send off my ipod. Should I send my cable as well? I have a iPod 5th generation. I don't want my ipod to be lost or damaged on the way. What precautions should I take before I send it? Is it worth it right now or should I still hope and pray for a useful update that will fix the battery life. My ipod takes forever to charge with my charger but with my sisters Ipad it works pretty quickly. Greatly appreciate any advice coming!
Plus, I just updated to 8.02 and nothing helped I think.

Hey Yari5393, Apple does not fix, you will most likely get a refurbished iPod, (the same model and size you sent in) and it most likely will have the same issues, slow operation, spotty Wi-Fi, etc. Seems to be an issue with iOS 8, at least if you read this and other posts. As for the A5 chip set, (the one used in iPod 5's), iOS 8 is pushing the iPod 5 about as far as it can go. Do you have other issues? I'm thinking Apple will just tell you there is nothing wrong and send your iPod back. Hope this helps, Cheers.

  • Tried to send iMessage from iPod touch (5th generation) but continuously says "contact not registered with iMessage". The contact IS registered with iMessage, but won't send any messages to anyone.

I have an iPod touch 5th generation (7.1.2) that has not been sending iMessages to other iMessage users. At first my iPod would not let me sign in to use iMessage, but I searched on different discussion boards that helped me log in. Now the trouble is not being able to send messages at all. I tried to delete the contact I was trying to message and restart the conversation board, but that didn't help at all. The contact continues to say 'xxxxxx not registered with iMessage" when, in fact, they are. I need help to resolve this issue.
    Thanks

  • Is there an email address to send a complaint in about an Ipod touch 5th generation?

My daughter knocked her Ipod touch 5th generation from the arm of a sofa onto a soft carpeted floor and the screen shattered.  I took the Ipod into a store and Apple want £99 + VAT to repair this.  I understand that this was an accident and accidental damage is not covered by the warranty.  However, I was extremely disappointed to be told by a member of staff that the Ipod has probably hit its weak point when it fell, surely these gadgets should be more robust and not have weak points?  I wish to make a complaint to Apple by email but can't find an address, can anyone help please?  Thanks.

  • HT1695 iPod touch 5th generation still says, "Unable to Join Network" despite every attempt to connect to my home's wifi. What should I do?

My new iPod touch (5th generation) does not let me connect to my own home's internet, but yet it will connect somewhere else. I have tried literally everything.
    turning wifi on and off
    turning router on and off
and it still says that it is unable to join the network. It is an open network so there is no password needed, my old 3rd generation iPod and my cell phone connect just fine, it is only this device. What should I do?

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

I kind of just ignored it so i let it charge the whole night and the next morning when i woke up the firts thing i did was to check on it. My ipod still wont turn on or charge and tried to connected to my computer but nothing shows up. i will really appreciate if someone could help me.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Should i upgrade my ipod touch 5th generation to iOS 8.0.2?

so far i have the iOS 7 latest update for my ipod touch 5th generation. However, i noticed that iOS 8.0.2 is released. i know that the first iOS 8 update crashed a lot as well as decrease speed, and i'm not sure if the new update fixed it. Would my ipod still function at the same speed?

I upgraded all my devices to iOS 8 with no problems except slightly faster battery drain.
Note that some users always have problems with any iOS update so just because you hear of problems does not mean it is any worse than other update. It is not worse than other updates.
iOS 8 does included some better security features so I would update

  • If I pre-order the iPod touch 5th generation, do I have to pay it with credit card or can i pay it when i go get it on the store? if I pre order it, can i go pick it up form 1-3 of october, or it is not available?

Hey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. Hope this helps. Good luck. Cheers.

  • My iPod Touch 5th generation (running IOS 8.1.2)...

My iPod Touch 5th generation (running IOS 8.1.2), when connected to my iMac (running OS X Yosemite) will charge, but is not regained, or for that matter even noticed by the iTunes application. The iPod will sync to dropbox when connected, but nothing else. On the device, it will ask if to "trust" the iMac, I naturally hit that it should, but still no change.

  • Since updating iTunes my new iPod touch 5th generation wont show up.

I recently updated iTunes on Friday. But now that I try to sync my iPod touch 5th generation it is not showing up in iTunes. The iPod asks if I trust this computer and I click yes but nothing happens. What should I do?

In case you haven't found this yet... I managed to fix the problem with my iPhones by updating the USB device driver.  The instructions are in this thread:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5822553?tstart=0
or you can follow this knowlege base article on the Apple site:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
(for me the problem required me following the instructions in the "If only Apple iPhone, Apple iPad, or Apple iPod appears" section, but it may be different in your case)
Maybe Apple updated the USB drivers in this updated version of iTunes?  I'm not sure why the installer failed to install these drivers automatically (maybe that isn't possible??).  Maybe this is just a Windows problem and has nothing to do with Apple?  Who knows...

  • IPod Touch 5th Generation won't turn on and the home button is broken, followed the steps from another thread but it's still not working

I have an iPod Touch 5th Generation with iOS 8.1, my home button is broken and I've been using AssistiveTouch for months now. Today I just locked my iPod and it wouldn't unlock again, it doesn't respond at all, it won't turn on. It was almost fully charged, so it's not the battery. I followed the steps from this thread, but I'm still getting the "USBMuxListenerCreate: No Error" message in CMD Prompt. I bought my iPod abroad and even though I do have the warranty, I've been told at the iStore that it's not valid here, so going to the store isn't really an option. Any ideas how to solve this?

Sorry, but without a working home button it is not possible to reset or restore your device. You should visit an Authorized Appel Service Provider or Apple Store to get it serviced. The warranty for an iPod is not limited to the country where it has been bought, check here: one-year limited warranty
Jailbraking the device will void the warranty.
You can check the warranty status by inserting the serial number on this page: https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do

Will there be an iPod touch 5th generation 8gb? If so when?

Siri really does little on the iPod itself. All teh work in done on Apple's servers. Siri would run fin on an 8GB (about 6 GB available to the user). However, with a 5 MP camera, and especially 1080P video recording, 6 GB ort usable storage would not allow muck recording. The 1080P video will be about 180 MB/min.

  • How to reset ipod touch 5th generation without using itunes

I am locked out of my IPod touch 5th generation because my password was changed on me. It says my ipod is disabled and I need to connect to itunes. However, I can not get itunes where I am so I need to know how to reset my ipod without itunes.

    Only if:
If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone and use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
You can also wipe the iOS device by installing the FindMyiPhone app on another iOS device and using that app to wipe the device.
otherise with a computer with iTunes and an interent connection
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.
