Should i store my OCR in OCFS or RAW

Hi
as general question
should i store my OCR in OCFS or RAW ?
how many OCR disks usually is the best , i have red we should multiplex and do 3 OCR , is the normal redundancy can give me 3 copy of OCR?
Thanks for any contribution

Same question was asked just yesterday in the RAC forum.
My recommendation is NOT using ocfs or any other cluster file system (cfs) for storing the OCR and voting disks. Reason: this requires that cfs s/w to successfully load before CRS at boot time, and should it fail, CRS (and all its dependent services) will fail.
So using a cfs introduces another software layer - and the more moving parts there are, the more complex it becomes and the better the chance for stuff to go wrong.
Oracle also recommended for 10g that raw be used instead of a cfs.
As Hans mentioned, the exception is ASM. With 11.2g ASM you can create a ASM-based cfs. ASM also loads before CRS, making the OCR and voting disks available for CRS. And ASM is anyway part of the cluster software stack and does not introduce an additional software layer. (disclaimer: have not tried it and this is what I understood from a discussion with Oracle)

  • Create an Object(Store) based on Store Id,it should display Store Name

    Hi,
My Question is, Create an Object(Store) based on Store Id,it should display Store name at report level.
I did the list of values Name changed from Store Id to Store Name in Object Properties in Universe level. These values are changed in the universe level, but not displaying in Report level. How it is possible? can any one give the reply.
    Thanks & Regards
    Madhu...

What i understand is you wan the user to be prompted with STORE_ID values and when they select a store_id or multiple store _id then you want to display the store names for these store _id selected in the report . If this is correct then follow below
In Universe create a object whose definition is store_name and not store id. In the LOV of this object click edit and then in the LOV add STOREID, STORE_NAME COLUMN with STORE_ID so now the user will see the store-id and the store name for that store_id but when you select any values it will show only the store name.

  • General Question - In which way should I store a "UTILS" class

    Hi
    I'm building a web application, ( Tomcat + JSF + Icefaces )
I got a bunch of methods that are being used in many places...
In which way should i store them , a Static class with static methods or an Instance of that class that will be stored in Application scope, or some other way of storing this class and accessing it?
    Thanks in advance...

Utility methods? Just use a final class with a private constructor and only static methods for that.

  • Where should i store all my pics

Hi Guys, I am new to apple and am importing 18,000 photos. Where should i store them. I will use Aperture 3 for editing. Read up on and use a *Referenced-Masters Library.* Put originals ("Masters") on external hard drive(s) and separately back them up. Then (very important) when you go to import into Aperture select +"store files in their current location"+ on the right hand side of the import window. If you do not select "store files in their current location" Aperture will default to putting the Masters in the +Aperture Library+ (which would then be called a +Managed-Masters Library+ ) instead of just referencing them, and sooner or later your iMac's internal hard drive will become overfilled and you will need to reconfigure to a Referenced-Masters Library.
Do this a few times with test images to be sure you fully understand the process before you go after the 18k images. Aperture will treat each import batch as a Project so best will be to break your 18k images into individual Projects (e.g. "Mary Jones Wedding" or "20091219," etc.) to import them.
If i do this, do i need to then export photos after editing back to sub folders on hard drive.
Unlike Photoshop, Aperture is a non-destructive editor. The Masters themselves are never actually changed. Aperture instead stores your edits in the Aperture Library. You only export when you need edited images for some usage (like delivery of copies of edited images to a client).

  • Where should i store application configurations?

    Hello all,
i have a little problem. I read a lot of posts in this forum with the same problem, but no anser was satisfiable for me. Where should i store application configurations? For example, where can i store error descriptions (text) for errors with a special id. There is no way to do it in the webconatiner, because the ejb's should log their errors. File I/O operations are forbidden by the specification, so the use of ResourceBundles with propertie files should be forbidden, too, isn't it? Is there another way than storing the error description in a database?
I hope you can unstand my question and someone have a solution for my problem.
    thanks & regards
    Ren G.

You can use an entity bean with your configuration.

  • AIX 6.1 - Do we need HACMP to store the OCR and Voting Disks on Raw Logical

We are planning to install 11G r1 rac on AIX 6.1. We will use clusterware and ASM. We would like to avoid GPFS and HACMP.
We plan to put the Clusterware OCR and Voting Disks on Raw Logical Volumes.
I do not believe we need HACMP. see the passage below from doc:
    Oracle® Clusterware
    Installation Guide
11g Release 1 (11.1) for AIX Based Systems
    B28258-05
Configuring Raw Disk Devices for Oracle Clusterware Without HACMP or GPFS
If you are installing Oracle RAC on an AIX cluster without HACMP or GPFS, then you
must use shared raw disk devices for the Oracle Clusterware files. You can also use
shared raw disk devices for database file storage. However, Oracle recommends that
you use Automatic Storage Management to store database files in this situation.
This section describes how to configure the shared raw disk devices for Oracle
Clusterware files (Oracle Cluster Registry and Oracle Clusterware voting disk). It also
describes how to configure shared raw devices for Oracle ASM and for Database files,
if you intend to install Oracle Database, and you need to create new disk devices.
    Question:
Do we need HACMP to store the OCR and Voting Disks on Raw Logical Volumes? According to the passage above we do not.

You can archive log either in shared location or separate location associated with each instance. Oracle recommends using a shared location for all the instances in a RAC configuration. Check the topic "Location of Archived Logs for the Cluster File System Archiving Scheme" in Clusters Administration and Deployment Guide

  • Where should I store the collatoral files that are associated with photos stored in lightroom?

Where should I store the collatoral files that are associated with photos stored in lightroom? Items such as pdf files, word documents, etc. How should I connect them to each other so I can find both the photo and the related data?

Lightroom itself will not help you with pdf, word, etc.
However, there is a plugin you can use called AnyFile which will allow you to manage these documents in Lightroom (by assigning keywords and other metadata) so that you can search for all documents (photos, pdf, word, music, powerpoint, etc.) with given metadata.
Because you do this via metadata, it doesn't matter where you put these files. Put them anywhere you want.

  • Where should I store objects in my design

    Hello guys,
I have a system that needs to store various kinds of information such as users, publications, meetings etc. I have various objects describing that sort of information but I am having a hard time choosing where to store the objects inside the design.
Quick overview of the system: I have a SystemAdmin who registers users. I have a RegisteredUser who makes publications and meetings. I have Publications and Meetings.
Where should I store the objects created by all these classes? Where should I store the "RegisteredUser" or the "Publication"? Should I use a "super" class with a bunch of collection objects or is it a bad design?
I would like to avoid using a DBMS, but if you think it would get messy otherwise, I can give it a go. Thanks

If you want to do this right, you should definitely be starting your design using a DBMS. Once that's done, you can look at EJB 3 or Spring as a persistance layer to your exterprise java app.
In today's world, it is smart to decouple your data, storage, and application layers. The buzz word being DECOUPLE

  • Should i store all emails in archive

should i store all emails in archive.  will that free upn "other"storage?

Ok I've sussed it out on my own. In case anyone else is having the same problem, go to the archive folder you created (and can probably do it exactly the same from the inbox) select ALL messages (or just the ones you wish to forward) then either right click and select or select from the forward menu option at the top "Forward as attachments". Check the title/subject of your email and change as applicable as it seems to use the subject from the first email you select before choosing select all, and insert the email recipient you're forwarding the emails too. BINGO or Hey Presto or Abracadabra or whatever word you like for "Yessssssssssssss!" lol
And that's all the lady wrote. :) Hope it helps.

  • Media browser - How should I store a movie to be replayed on my computer?

Under iMovie>Share>Media browser, that window says "This allows you to view your project in iMovie even when the original content is unavailable." Does this mean I can delete the project or original clips and still see the movie I put together?
If not, what does it mean?
I'd like to keep a copy of the iMovie I've created somewhere on my computer (or an external disk drive) so I can see it at better resolution than DVD can provide. At the same time I want to delete all the source clips, photos, music that went into it to free up space, clear directories, etc. How should I store the movie?

It would be safest to store it in iTunes.
You can store it in Media Brower also, but if you edit your movie at all, the Media Browser copy gets deleted, because it assumes you will want to re-share your movie. The copy you Shared to iTunes will not be automatically deleted.
When you share to iTunes, a copy is automatically shared with Media Browser.
If you prefer, you can use SHARE/EXPORT MOVIE and name a folder to store your movie.
It is then possible to go to iTunes Preferences and uncheck the box that automatically adds new files to iTunes. You can then drag the movie into iTunes, but it will only have a link to your folder. This is how I do it so I don't end up with multiple copies, and I can see my movies in a single folder.

Content acquired with an Apple ID is permanently tied to that ID.
There is no reason to create a new Apple ID, frankly that will just create more issues.
It is possible to load content from multiple Apple ID's onto a single device.  If the content is in the computer that the device syncs with, simply select the content and sync it.

  • Where should I store my bash scripts?

    Hi!
In which directory should I store securely my own bash (and Ruby, Python) scripts? Some of them contain passwords too, for example which uploads files to an FTP server. Is it secure to store them in /usr/local/bin? What chmod setting should I apply on them? 755?

    export PATH="${PATH}:${HOME}/bin"
@karol, this will effectively make your PATH="/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin" as the /usr/local directory is already set up to override anything in /usr/bin anyway.
    % grep PATH /etc/profile
    PATH="/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin"
Good point. I was looking over some old notes when this thread came up and it didn't occur to me check the facts first.

  • Where should I store the password to SSL keystore?

    Hi experts.
I implement JRF-WS client that will be secured using SSL.
I set the proper Java System properties:
    javax.net.ssl.trustStore=<path to truststore>
    javax.net.ssl.trustStorePassword=<password to truststore>
How should I store the password for keystore in client application?
What is the right approach? (right = that fits Oracle security standard)
And how should I distribute the truststore-truststorepassword pair?
    Thanks.

    Where does the client reside?
If i understand correctly, its outside the container.
    Yes, outside the container
If u r looking to store the certificate in the jks keystore and passing the password from JAVA_OPTIONS trustStorePassword, then my friend I am afraid u will have to pass it in clear text.
Are there any other options to store server certificate on JSE client apart from JavaKeystore?
    Thanks.

  • Where should I store the rendered files?

(My Color projects are in "Documents")
Where should I store the rendered files?
On my external HD with my FCP media? Or on my Hard Disk is fine ?
Can I calculate that 1 Go of DV NTSC = 1 Go of rendered file in 10 bits?
    Many thanks

this came up as a topic at a recent FCPUG seminar.
Since the dawn of time, it is recommended practice to keep your media off the application drive.
The more disks you have spinning, the better the chance that you will get the data throughput rates that will support the demands of your media. Whether that's a RAID or a JBOD, its up to you how you value your time and assets.
I keep things as 'external' as possible, mostly because clients are anxious to get the material back, but I'd have to keep moving stuff around just to maintain the space. And I still have to get merciless with all the temporary FCP render stuff.
