I purchased a Nomad?Zen Xtra in 2005. After a short while it failed and I returned it. Creative sent me a new one as it was still under warranty. Within a few months I had problems with the replacement?unit freezing. I tried to follow the self-help and e-mail support, but the problems persisted. I found that about once a month the unit would freeze up. The only cure was to remove the battery and let it sit overnight. It would then work fine for awhile. Yesterday it froze and the recovery feature says there is a problem with the hard dri've. Unfortunately, the web site says service/support is discontinued for this model. Not only that, but you can't even pick up the phone and talk to customer service. MY ONLY QUANDRY - Does Creative make good products and I'm just unlucky, or should I just dump the brand for something else? Two dead players in 3 years and a lack of support suggests?

its more like a symptom of todays manufacturing industry, where products must be made at the cheapest possible price and sold for as much as the companies can get away with, they manufacturers probably have to do so many units an hour for the production line to achei've its cost targets, and at the end of the day mass produced goods made for as little as possible are going to suffer in teh qaulity department one way or another, it doesnt matter weather its a creative player, or whatever as long as stuff is mass produced witht eh aims of keeping costs to a bare minimum theres bound to be some units that wont last long.

    You can leave your iPad locked without any problem. Furthermore, it's recommended instead of turning your iPad off.
    Your iPad, when it's locked, can receive mails, updates..., but it doesn't take a lot of battery, so it doesn't make sense to turn the iPad off

    Who do you want to be in email for support, etc.? Do you want to be kwarp on the internet and on a resume? What image do you want to project? Individual or business or phantom or...? How good are you at juggling both references? Which would you want on a business card?
    I wouldn't want to strictly maintain two IDs (nick versus real), especially for the long term.
    Pick one and stick with it. Let the other be incidental.
    I also believe these are detailed when doing the contracts, with at least partial explanations of how they will be used, so you can ponder your way during the application process.
    Developer ID/Name (as registered by you) shows up as 'seller' as I recall - different from the name version attached to the copyright tag. You could use 'kwarp' as seller with 'greg lieberman' after the copyright and at least for this example, use both.

    I just got a new job where I do not get Verizon coverage, but do get AT & T.  So I need to switch companies.  Verizon website says I am eligible for a phone upgrade in August 28, 2012.  So how soon can I cancel my contract?  Or how much would it cost me to cancel now?  The phone I have is a Samsung Intensity II.   Thanks for your help!!

    Termination fee is $175 minus $5 for each month you've been in your contract. If your upgrade date is Aug. 28th you must have signed a contract on Dec. 28th 2010. So 18 months x $5 = $90.  $175-$90 = $85 termination fee.  I think.

    The s3 is a great phone, yes the screen is huge, no more squinting to read anything and also feels good in the hand unlike the strange size of the iPhone 5. Nice thing about android in general is how customizable it is. If you don't like the keyboard use a different one, use widgets to get to data right from the home screen rather than opening the app, unlock your phone with a pass code, pattern or facial recognition, tons of other options.
    Down side about it, like the iPhone it has a mechanical home button, which will wear out.

    There is no such application named Lightroom CC . However, we have Lightroom 5 which is already a part of Creative Cloud.
    So, in short, Lightroom 5 is available as perpetual product and as a part of Creative Cloud(as of now).
    The advantage of having it with CC is that you get additional storage space and an availability to future releases of Lightroom.

    There is little real value in doing so, Firebird, given that 64 bit apps will still run in 64 bit mode when your computer is booted using the 32 bit kernel anyway, and quite a few disadvantages when it comes to potential incompatibilities with older software, drivers etc.

  • Randomly Dropping Traffic - Bad Tech Support - Should I Switch ISP?

    Summary
    I replaced the Verizon router with a Cisco router that support being an IPSec VPN Tunnel end-point. I switched from the coax to the Ethernet port on the ONT as the router doesn't have a coax port. Next I configured the IPSec Tunnel on the router, and I was a happy camper because I now have access to the company LAN.
    [Fast forward a week.]
    Phone calls started sounding choppy so I investigated. It now seems like there is a ~15% packet loss for VPN traffic. How did that happen? I spent 2 full days triaging the issue ... I'll spare the details ... and I narrowed down the packet drops to somewhere between the local Verizon ONT and the remote site modem.
    As a test, I temporarily switch my Internet connection to my handy iPhone 4 hotspot (thanks AT&T  )
    To my surprise ... no packet loss. So that narrows it down to the ONT and the Verizon network. So I contacted tech support and wasted almost an hour with someone who was absolutely no help. To top it off, he tried to sell me on some Expert Care package -- apparently he himself is neither an expert nor does he care -- for me to get my service issues resolved.
    Now the question for me is, should I continue struggling with this subpar support service, or should I switch to another more helpful ISP?

    Physical Connections:

    The central VPN point is Router B.
    Router A is a remote VPN client. Alternatively, if VPN is disabled on the router, the PC behind Router A can also connect with a software VPN client.
    No.
    The configuration is fine.
    The IPSec tunnel gets established.
    The VPN has worked fine for two weeks.
    Starting yesterday, random IPSec encapsulated packets from Router A to Router B are getting dropped.
    ~30% packet loss.
    This happens with either the PC or Router A as VPN client.
    (Please note that Router A is not the Verizon supplied Router.)
    Also, pings from Router A to Router B outside the VPN tunnel have 100% success rate.
    I narrowed down the packet drop to somewhere from the ONT to maybe the Verizon clould (packet filtering or inspection?).
    Can you reload the ONT?

    Please forward this to corporate... I pay for 5 phones a month, currently at 250 + a month, putting it into perspective... a car payment.   I've been a customer since 2000 both with my exhusband and after my divorce, I've paid for them.  I was on the upgrade every 2, then that went away, my unlimited data has gone away on one phone and now when i upgrade my phone i will lose it too, just seems your plans have been nickle and diming me.  I have no problem paying my fare share but it seems that I as a customer continue to be neglected and not rewarded for staying with your company.  Other companies are offering free smart phones with 2 years and unlimited text, talk data per phone for anywhere 35 to 50 a month.  I'd be willing to do the 250 a month for my 5 lines, to have the talk text data and would be willing to add a 6th line but when I go to do it with verizon, my bill is 312 plus tax without the 6th line, thats 67 a month per phone and data split at 4gb.  Why am i not upgraded with services or rewarded for being a longtime customer???  Should i go to another company and pay them the 250 a month for more services or 300 for the 6th phone that i am paying now for less services and less equipment????  Verizon does have the best coverage, but seems they are getting greedy and lacks a daisy.  Two of my contracts are up since the summer, and i was about to upgrade, but after the sticker shock, the other 3 of my contracts are up next month and last 2-in 3-and 5 months... guess what...T-mobil, Att and Us Cellular have great service where i live now, and have very appealing contracts...at that time, we have valentines day, my daughter will be 16, i have mothers day and my son is graduating highschool.... i'm sure there will be some deals then too...

    Use it only when you need it.  Keeping applications open which are not needed will just shorten battery life if you are under battery power and will unnecessarily slow down the MBP.

    I wouldn't switch if you want to do .NET / SQL Server
    development. Most people on Macs who do SQL Server development
    either use a remote server or run it in a Windows Virtual Machine.
    Important programs are available for both OSes, but without
    knowing which ones you use it's hard to say whether you just need
    to install the "mac version" or whether you'd need to install a
    brand new one.

    Id like to switch to safari but theres so many reasons i cant..
