Should I sync or create a new itune accounts for my new ipad Air

I have been using ipad 2 for the past two years and just bought an ipad Air.  I would like to know the best solution as to whether I should sync to my current itunes account or should I create another itune for my new ipad Air.  Appreciate your help. Thanks. Niki

There is no reason to create a new account just because you are migrating to a different device. See Diavonex's link to that support article. In fact, creating a new account will cause headaches if you have past purchases tied to your old account (note**** that there is no way to transfer purchases accross Apple IDs).

You should use the same iTunes account for all your devices.

  • I have multiple apple phones on one account  can i create a new iTunes account for other iphone

I have multiple iphones on one billing account as well as itunes.  Can I create a separate itunes account for other iphone?

You don't need to create two separate libraries.
If you want to sync different content onto each device, select the device in iTunes, select the tabs across the top and sync what you want.
To make it easier, create different playlists for each device and sync only those playlists.

  • How do I create 2 seperate iTunes account for me and my daughter

I already have a iTunes account. Just got my daughter a  iPod...BUT I don't know how to create a seperate iTunes account for her on the same computer. I do not want her to have my play list and visa versa.

Launch iTunes with the Shift key held down and create a new library, or use separate Windows user accounts. This isn't the same as using different iTunes Store accounts.

I am getting a new computer and I know I can transfer my music on my old computer to my new one with a hard drive but me and brother currently share an account and I would like my own, once I get a new computer can I make a new account on my new itunes and still be able to keep my old music and be able to sync it and play it etc?? Anyone with information on this would be muchly appreciated!!! Thank you in advance! Oh and I currently have a windows but will be getting a mac book pro most likely

The music sync is one one way - computer to ipod.  The exception is itunes purchases.  File>Transfer Purchases

An account means an iTunes Store account which is an online service.  Do you mean that, or do you mean a library on a computer?
iOS devices can only be synced to one iTunes library at a time.  You can sync that iPod to your account but it will wipe everything currently on it.

If you use manual syncing, you can sync items from more than one iTunes library to your iPod. (You can sync iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad with only one iTunes library.) When manually managing content, you can add content from multiple libraries to your iPod or iPad. Even when manually managing music, some content may be available from only one library at time. This includes all content on iPhone and video content on iPod and iPad. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12113  and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1202
I could post another 2 pages of stuff trying to cover every possible scenario.  It would help if you let us know exactly what you want to do.  Are you trying to sync just a few songs (like giving them to a friend which is something iTunes is deliberately set up not to do)?

I started with one itunes account for my iphone and ipad, and now have a second ipad linked to the same itunes.  Can I set up a new itunes account for one ipad without losing what has already been downloaded on it?  I want to stop my husbands downloads appearing on my ipad, and vice versa.

A much simpler solution would be to go into Settings > Store and turn off Automatic Downloads

How to set up an iTunes account for my new ipad?

If you already have an iTunes account, simply use that. You do not need a new account.
Open the iTunes app on the iPad. Go to the bottom of the screen and tap Sign in.

If your son is under 13, then you will need to set up an account for yourself and allow him to use it.

  • Should I create a new iTunes account for a podcast?

We are still in the process of getting our first podcast edited and ready to go, along with the website, podcast hosting, etc... But I was curious about when we are ready to submit the podcast to iTunes.... Should I ceate a new iTunes account, dedicated to the podcast, or use my own personal iTunes account to submit. I'm a little hesitant about using my own, since I'm not sure how that affects anything in how the podcast is displayed, or notifications from iTunes. I would rather have communications go through the E-Mail for the domain I have set up for the website/podcast, but it's not the end of the world.
If it's used strictly for authentication, then it most likely won't be an issue. I just wanted to verify how it is used, and best practices, before submitting our first episode.
    Thanks,
    Mike

It is just for authentication - no need to create a new account for your podcast.
Just submit with the one you already have.
Any changes to your show in iTunes are managed via your RSS feed - not from your iTunes account.

  • How do I create a new Itunes account for my external HD?

Hi. I am a graduate student with a huge amount of music files for academia.  I store the academia music files on my external HD, since it will just take up too much space on my computer.  I wanted to create a separate Itunes account just for my external HD music files.  How do I go about doing this? I tried to set it up and created a new account, but it automatically synced to my computer Itunes and I ended up deleting all of my personal music, video and reading articles on my personal itunes account.

As a graduate student you will quickly learn the importance of exact terminology.  I presume your colleague told you to copy the "iTunes folder".  You can't copy just iTunes (well, you can, but it isn't easy).  Saying "iTunes" on its own refers to the application itself, not the library.
You do not need to make a new account.  This again gets confusing unless you tell us exactly what you did.  As I said before, an "iTunes account" is something you log into to make a purchase from the iTunes Store.  A "computer account" is a whole new user area on your computer and isn't made on a different hard drive.  An "iTunes library" is a collection of files and folders that generate the window you see when you start the iTunes application.
I do not know how you are ending up with two icons on the dock.  While it is possible to do that it isn't at all normal unless you somehow are running two copies of iTunes at the same time.  That is exceedingly difficult to do and people have unsuccessfully tried and would like to know how you did it.
You can have two independent libraries and there won't be any crosssover from one to the other.  I have four on my computer.  Use the procedure I outlined earlier to create a second library and to switch between them.
I was a graduate student many years ago and one  of the first things I learned to do so I didn't lose years of research  was to make multiple backup copies of anything I generated by computer,  especially before performing any major changes to the computer such as  installing new software or substantial file rearrangement.  I kept several  copies in different buildings on campus and a copy at home in another  part of town just in case the campus was wiped out by a disaster.

  • How should I open a new iTunes account for my daughter?

My daughter (& her laptop) is currently authorized on my iTunes account.  I want to buy her Lion OS for Christmas so her laptop & iPhone are backed up on iCloud.
Do I de-authorize her laptop on my account & then sign her up for a new iTunes account in her name and then update her laptop to Lion?

If you remove the authorization then she will not have access to the previous purchased content. You can leave her auhtorized and have her make all new purchases with her account. She should then have access to all the content. She could also authorize your computer so you have access to her content.
Her account and your account have nothing to do with Lion except she will have more options available to her.

  • Can I create a new itunes account for my kids and still keep old music on both?

My kids currently have ipod nanos.  They are getting ipod touches for christmas.  Originally we setup a "family" itunes account on my computer.  We now want to set them up their own account on their own laptop.  Can we transfer old music from nano to touch to the new itunes account?

You can usehHome Sharing so the music will be accessable on their computers,  Their computer will have to be authorized for the iTunes account.  For more informations see:
