Please help me decide what to do. I have a Dodge Avenger 2011 with 77,714 miles it's in good shape except a small cosmetic problem at the rear from a bump. I would like to trade it in for a more appropriate vehicle. I am considering trading it in now because my transunion auto 8 score is 672, experian 654 eq 625. KBB value for trading to a dealer is: "good" condition a little over 7000.00 or 7600.00 for "very good." With the damage to the rear I am not sure which one. I did put new tires on it recently and it has been treated gently as I do not often drive it.I was contacted recently by two dealers in my area encouraging me to respond but I would like to know what to avoid and whether I should do this. I tried to refinance it but Navy Federal denied my application in May. Is there a way to lower the interest rate? Any advice is greatly appreciated as always. Thanks!

Should I trade 2,6 Ghz CPU for a 3,0Ghz?

Hi all.
I currently have a 2,6 Ghz, that i'm very happy with.
I do run a sllight OC on it (FSB 218) to get the most out of my RAM
However, I've been offered to trade a 3,0 Ghz 800FSB Nortwood C CPU for my 2,6 800FSB Northwood C Cpu.
i know, that the 3 gig's don't OC very well (because of the heat i guess), but I'm not into heavy OC'ing. But i DO want to run my FSB at at least 216 ratio 1:1.
Do you guys think that the 3 gig will run at FSB 216 with air cooling.
The batch no. for the 3gig CPU i've been offered is sl6wk
Should i trade, or will i be better off with my current 2,6C CPU?

Approx USD $10 are to be paid by me (keep in mind the prizes in Denmark are very high compared to US prices. A 2,6 GHZ CPU like mine is USD $200+). However, the CPU is still within warranty (it's just one month old -my 2,6 is 3 months old). But, I also know, that if a CPU has been OC'ed, it's no longer under warranty...

That's a very good point, and that's exactly what came to my mind as the first thing as well.
I think the reason why he wants to trade is, that a decent 2,6 GHz CPU will reach approximately the same speed as a 3.0 GHz only with a higher FSB (which will be faster)
He had a 2,6 Ghz CPU before, and he had it running @ 3,4 Ghz -which I think is pretty good.
I'm not interested in this high OC's -i just want to use the full potential of my RAM (at least FSB 216)
I don't know how hard his CPU has been clocked, so, in your opinion, would that be enough reason not to trade? (My CPU has been OC'ed as well, but I've only been running it @ 220 FSB -which isn't a lot

No...ProRes is a high quality format. Finishing format. Many TV networks take that as a final deliverable.
BUT...DVDs aren't high definition...they are SD. You cannot make a 720p60 DVD with DVD Studio Pro. Any DVD you make will be SD...720x480. The only HD DVD format out there is BluRay, and for that you need a BluRay burner.
As for making a high quality DVD...using the BEST QUALITY settings in Compressor will work:

The absolute simplest way to make a DVD using FCP and DVDSP is as follows:
1. Export a QT movie, either a reference file or self contained using current settings.

4. Now, select the green one, right click on it and select the top option "first play".
5. Now drag your QT from the browser and drop it on top of the green monitor.

NOW...if you want a GOOD LOOKING DVD, instead of taking your REF movie into DVD SP, instead take it into Compressor and choose the BEST QUALITY ENCODE (2 pass VBR) that matches your show timing. Then take THAT result into DVD SP and follow the rest of the steps. Except you can choose "16:9 LETTERBOX" instead of PAN & SCAN if you want to see the entire image.

That depends on the manufacturer of the charger...check the user guide that came with it. Apple typically uses amber when charging and green when running on line power.

Just Bought MBP W/ 2.6 Should I Trade In For The 2.7?

I bought a custom built MacBook Pro Not 3 days ago. Here are the Specs for the build:
15" Retina
2.6 i7 Quad
16GB RAM
256 GB HDD
My question (and really just looking for public opinion here) is should I go trade this in for the updated model with the 2.7? I know it’s only 100mhz of difference in speed, but I also find that the update processors are new lines and smaller revisions have been done that improve the chipset beyond the speed. Even if the change is not noticeable on the performance side, I still can’t help but feel like it may be worth the 10 mins to swap for the updated line.
What do you all think? Exact price to what I paid, it’s whether or not it's worth the time (walking across the street) to go swap up.

Shootist: Yeah I agree with the upgradability, but that’s why I bought the machine maxed out on everything I can’t swap out. I run my own server at home that I store everything huge on, so I cut the expense of the 512 Flash Drive and simply ordered the 256. That part is upgradable, so if a few years down the road I somehow need more space I can upgrade that. The specifications of the machine are so high as is now, that any need to upgrade soon is a little farfetched. My 2010 MBP is still ticking and feels just as fast as my new one with an SSD in it. It sits at 2.66GHZ with 8 GB of ram. So 3 years at mid-grade performance levels still keeping up, I see this new retina keeping up for at least 5 comfortably.
I was thinking the same on the “not-mentioned” revisions and that alone is the primary reason I’m considering swapping it out. The only “Issues” I’ve seen that are blowing up is the retina issue. But I have the Samsung made panel and after testing it out for almost a week I see no issues at all with the machine.
Swank: It is just 100mhz, no architecture change at all from what I can find on the proc. But as commented above if they swapped out the chip, what else did they do to the newer line unmentioned that will save me problems later? That’s my thinking…
I dunno, if I do swap it out I have to order a whole new one (being that it’s custom and upgraded) putting me without a machine for 2 weeks and I’m not sure it’s worth it if all they did was the proc revision.
I’m going to stop by the Apple Store after work today and see if I can get one ordered while hanging onto mine… If they’ll do that I’m going for it.

Should I trade my mac air ?

So.. I bought 2014 Mac Air with 4GB Ram and 128GB storage..
I found out 2.4GB of Ram is being used without using any other apps like Safari or documents
And if i use other features, then used Ram goes up to 3 or more
I'm kinda scary what if future os takes more ram than now? ....
I still have time to return or trade my mac...should I return this and buy another one with 8GB??
I mainly use for word/paper and safari..
I don't play game, photoshop and maybe one or two movies but I don't store movies anyway...
Do you think 4GB is enough??or 8GB will be better??

Just purchased Thunderbolt... but should I trade it in for an iPhone?

I just purchased the HTC Thunderbolt a few days ago. I really like it so far, except the battery life is pretty bad. I purchased the extended battery but it seems so bulky (I have tiny hands) so I've just been using the regular stock battery. Anyway, I'm wondering if I should trade it in for the iPhone 4 within the next few days while I still can? I'm hesitant to switch because I'd miss the following about Android: LED notifcation, Google Maps Navigation, Voice to Text, perfect integration with all of my Google accounts... If it wasn't for the battery.... Decisions, decisions.
Any thoughts?

Should I trade in my MBP for the new MacBook?

I bought an MBP when they first came out so I have a 1.83 chipset.
Since the new Mac Books now have the same chipset but even faster, should I dump my MBP and get the new MacBook?
I use it mostly on the road for email and MS Office. I would not mind the smaller screen.
Wouldn't I notice some speed in web surfing or should I just stay with what I have. I know I will lose money on the MBP, but I am confident I will get enough to pay for the new MacBook.
Any advice about the pros and cons would be appreciated.

If it's a matter of finances then you'll probably end up losing more money in the long run. The reason is that by selling now you will be selling your MBP in the period where you lose, just like a car, the most. If you are happy with it you might as well hang on to it for the 3 years or so you planned on having it for. It's not as if the same thing isn't going to happen in 6-12 months time if you do decide to change.
Additionally, it's not as if your MBP got slower because a faster MB/MBP got released. Your requirements aren't on the bleeding edge so don't fret over it. You didn't buy Cinderalla's horse and carriage.

I took out my superdrive from my MBP and sold it online. Should I still buy apple care?

When I took out my superdrive and replace it with a hard drive, I sold my superdrive and use the money to buy an harddrive. Now, since I did it already and forgot the future possibility of breaking my MBP, is it necessary to buy apple care since I heard that my warranty is voided anyways? So far, my MBP works fantastically and have no problems at all.

Buying AppleCare, at this point, would be a waste of money. You voided your warranty when you replaced your optical drive with a hard drive. Only RAM and hard drive bay customer alterations will not affect your warrany.
You could have, I suppose, kept the optical drive and if your computer ever needed Apple repair, have replaced the hard drive for the optical again before taking it in for service. A little bit underhanded, but some people have done it.
You're pretty much just out of luck now...

Time to trade in 15yo car

I paid it off on a 36 MO buy but since it has fallen off my reports a few years ago, does that mean I'm considered a first time buyer?

"First time buyer" generally refers to a buyer with no or very limit credit experience. I'm assuming you have other forms of credit that's been on-going since you had your car loan. If that's the case, you woldn't be considered a "first time buyer". Just an example, i deal with Honda. Honda Finance considers customers with at least three lines of credit. It can't be a student loan or something derogatory such as collections is not considered a line of credit.

Should I trade my Palm Treo for an iPhone (what features will I lose)?

I have a Palm Treo and am thinking of switching to an iPhone but am worried about certain features that I will lose by making this move.
Can anyone let me know if these features that I will lose are correct, if they are a big deal and if there are any other featueres I am missing:
-No cut and paste ability
-No notes/memos and tasks synching with Outlook (is this correct)?
-Much harder to use keyboard on the iPhone
-Problems with synching with Outlook compared to the more reliable Treo (is this true)?
-No video camera on the iPhone (is this true)?

Despite the features the iPhone lacks, as you have listed, it is well worth the upgrade because of the features it excels in. It blows the Treo out of the water! I have owned a couple of Treo's and the capability of the unit is limited. The internet and the ability to search and obtain information is limitless on the iPhone. For one the video quality that you would get from the Treo is garbage and you can't do anything with it but view it on the worthless unit. Cut and paste is a useful option but there is ways to work around the ability. There are many app's that are not only fun but very useful. From networking to file transferring and of course gaming to pass time. I am obviously bias to the question at hand and the only true answer you will find is to search the discussions, support, iTunes and almost all of the other resources and support that Treo does not offer.

Does BB care that customers are unhappy about the iPhone 5 pre-order process? Should they?

It is obvious that there are more than a few customers who are unhappy with the iPhone 5 pre-order process. In my case I was unhappy with it. BB kept pointing the finger at Apple. It is well documented in the press that Apple has redirected supply to Apple customers then to phone companies. So, although still unhappy, I was buying BB's explanation.
Fast forward to this past Saturday. I received an email that my iPhone is ready for pick up. Due to prior commitments over the weekend I planned on picking up the phone on Monday. On Sunday I get an email stating that if I don't pick up my phone by Tuesday my preorder would be canceled. I gave it no thought. This morning (Monday) I got a reminder email. Still everything is good, because I'm going to pick it up today.
I walked into the store seconds after the door was unlocked. I hand my paperwork to the salesman in the mobile department. He asked me if I had received a phone call. I said no. He said there was no iphone for me. I showed him the emails on my phone. The net result is that I do not yet have my iphone. I am expecting someone at BB to blame the emails on Apple.
Does BB care about the fact that there are disgruntled customers? Should they? They no longer have any brick and mortar competitors. Since they have a monopoly in most markets, should they even bother to care? Caring would probably eat into their profits.

They absolutely should care. The thing about the iPhone is that it is a product that makes a large splash. People can instantly talk about it since it is statistically a good ice breaker. One of the first things I talk about when I discuss my iPhone with other's is where to buy it and I have not recommended Best Buy for the way they have handled this exact scenario. When they found out what had happend they could have at the very least offered to price match Walmart for the 16GB version.
As far as the competition is concerned. I say that I will be purchasing the more costly electronics online or Costco. I am through with Best Buy. I will stop in periodically and "play" with the item's I am interested in purchasing but no longer will I buy from them.
By blaming Apple for this and given that Apple has done this to them in the past, I can only wonder how they did not see this coming. If I were in a situation where I knew the supplier would even consider Shorting me on supply I would demand a written and legally binding statement by that supplier that I would not get stiffed for the devices. It only makes sense that if you have a contract to sell then you have a contract to secure your supply.
If this contract existed we would be hearing about a lawsuit against Apple by Best Buy but they don't have this agreement so they just look amature and naiive.

any mac would work fine using ableton live, but if you're going to be doing final cut work, you're going to need more graphics power. if you need a portable, the macbook pro should do you fine. a powerbook will work, but with final cut the macbook pro is literally at least 4 or 5 times as fast. if you don't need a portable, either the 20" or 24" imac will work fine, the smaller one doesn't have dedicated graphics, so it won't do. if you are working with serious, professional media or HD media in final cut, the mac pro is the only way to go.
