Should I uninstall Premiere Elements 10 before installing Elements 12?

I got Elements 12 today, but I would like to know if I should uininstall Elements 10 first.

John,
There is no reason to do so. The two versions can co-exist quite nicely. PrE 12 will install into a different folder structure, from your PrE 10 installation.
Many users keep the older version(s) installed, until they have learned the newer version - there are some significant changes between PrE 10 & PrE 12. Then, when they are fully up to speed with the newer, might consider Uninstalling the previous. A few users keep each older version, because one might do something better, or for testing purposes in the forums. I have a few older versions, and at least two users have about everything, going back to about PrE 4.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Should I uninstall PSE Ver 9 before installing PSE Ver 12 retail pack?

MY laptop came with PSE Ver 9 preloaded.
I have bought the discs for PSE Ver 12 ( Photoshop and Premier Elements ) In Amazon.
Should I uninstall Version 9 using the Program Features Uninstall routine. BEFORE loading Ver 12?

    THanks Barbara
interested when you say missing features, that can be copied over?
Is  there any Performance degredation associated with leaving a redundant program there.? Ie will the unused program slow down ver 12? Eg will it clog up shared services etc.
or more likely, ( after my nightmare trying to load PSE VER 12,  when it had to be uninstalled - it eventually took one of their top technicians 3.5 hours of manual clean up) is there a bigger risk in uninstalling ver 9.
In light how badly Version 12 uninstalls is this a nightmare too?
my preference is to go for ultimate performance over a few aextra features.
I Got more than I need atm lol!

  • Should I uninstall PE8 trial version before instaling PE8 ?

Just wondering what is  the reccomended way to install PE8 after previously installing the trail version.
Should I uninstall the trial version and re-install PE8, or just enter my license info to the trial version ?
I thought the boxed version has some additional templeates etc that are not in the trial version.

There is nothing in the disc version of the program that is not in the trial download, mk. (Even the extra templates are available as a download.)
But that said, it certainly wouldn't hurt to uninstall it and install the disc version anyway. Sometimes a re-installation to fix some things that didn't take on the first installation.

    Hi eclayton18,
It's recommended to uninstall the older version before installing the new software if you dont intend to use the older version.
But if you want to use both versions you can install and have both on the same machine.

  • I already have PS elements 12.  I just installed PS elements 13, but it doesn't open when I go to pictures, only PS Elements 12 opens. Should I uninstall PS elements 12?

I now use Photoshop Elements 12 on my computer.  I just installed PS Elements 13. But PS 13 icon does not show up on my desktop and when I open a picture, PS Elements 12 opens it.  Should I uninstall PS Elements 12?  If I do, will I lose my pictures?

You may set PE 13 as default program to open pictures.
If you are on window Right click on the file which you wish to open and click on propeties.
Then Right to "open with" click on change and select Photoshop Elemets 13, then click on Ok, Apply.

  • Should I uninstall older adobe products before downloading CC?

should I uninstall older adobe products before downloading CC?

It's not necessary. It's your choice.
Most Adobe apps install into separate folders alongside other versions so you can safely have multiple versions installed.
In some cases, features in earlier versions have been dropped in later versions, most famously Photoshop:
Photoshop: Spring Cleaning | PHOTOSHOP.COM BLOG
If you don't use those features then obviously that won't affect you. But it definitely affects some people so they keep earlier versions installed to access those features.

  • Error 1316a when uninstalling Premiere Elements 10

    Can;t uninstall Premiere Elements 10.

    Hi jonz61,
Run the MS FixIt utiltiy, then see if you can use the Control Panel to uninstall:
    http://support.microsoft.com/fixit/
If that doesn't work, here are the Adobe instructions for manually removing PSE9, you'll have to adjust for PSE10:

I have an academic version of Final Cut Studio on my laptop and recently purchased the most recent Full version of Final Cut Studio. Do I need to uninstall the academic version before installing the new version? I ask because this is not an upgrade, but a completely new version.

I'm with Jim on this.  It always seems to work out better if you do not install over another version.  You can use this app (freeware - thanks to Jon Chappel) to completely remove ALL Final Cut Studio apps and components: http://www.digitalrebellion.com/fcsremover/
Once that's done, install your newly purchased version.

  • Do I have to uninstall old Brother printer before installing new one?

I have a Brother all-in-one MFC420CN that has seen better days. Just bought a new Brother all-in-one MFC-J615W. Do I have to uninstall the old one before installing the new? If so, how do I do that and how do I make sure I've gotten rid of everything connected wtih the old printer?

You don't have to uninstall the old printer. It is not going to cause you any trouble, just make the new printer the default one. If you want to uninstall it, go to System Preferences>Print & Scan. Click on the old printer and click the minus sign on the bottom.

  • Keep or uninstall Premiere Elements 8 templates before installing v11?

I am upgrading from Premiere Elements 8 to the new v11. Should I uninstall/remove the templates which came with version 8 before installing Premiere Elements 11? Does v11 come with these templates or will keeping them provide me with additonal template options? Thank you.

Version 11 comes with its own catalog of disc templates. They aren't installed when you install the program but, rather, are downloaded as you use them.
Regardless, there's no value in keeping your version 8 templates.

  • Should I uninstall Adobe Acrobat 4 before I install Abode Reader 9.3 ?

My PC is desktop, Windows 7, 64 bit operating system. The browser is Internet Explorer. Is it a good idea to install Abode Reader 9.3? Would I have to unistall Abode Acrobat 4 before installing Abode Reader 9.3?

Acrobat 4 is not even supported on your configuration. Does it work on WIN 7 64 bit? I'll suggest uninstall it and install reader 9.3

  • Error while uninstalling Premiere Elements 4, anyone got a manual procedure?

    Hi and thanks for helping!
    I've got a Win-XP/Pro-SP3 system.
I've had the Premiere Elements 4 + Photoshop Elements 6 bundle installed for quite some time and upgraded to the bundle with v7 of both apps last year. Apparently, while installing the 7s, it did not uninstall the prior versions.  To reclaim some disk space, I'm trying to uninstall the older versions.
The uninstaller for Premiere Elements 4, (run from the add/remove programs tool on the control panel or directly from the distribution media), pops an Error 1606: Cannot access network location  :. and quits. I've tried the faith healing steps from both the Adobe Knowledgebase as well as the referenced articles from the Microsoft Knowledgebase (sort of completely uninstalling and reinstalling MS Office since I really don't think that's the issue). No joy.
The uninstaller for Photoshop Elements 6 runs to completion uninstalling that program. The installers for both version 7s of the apps run (although I abort them before they actually start changing files). The Acrobat Standard installer runs fine.  It's just the Premiere Elements 4 installer that is quitting.
I have a suspicion that someplace along the line, a registry scan process removed some key that it thought was safe but is crucial to getting the uninstaller to run.
I can certainly delete the appropriate program files\adobe subfolder, but there are also bits and pieces over in the Common folders plus in the docs&settings appdata folders.  And there are lots of registry keys.
I read the "delete the folder and run a registry cleaner" suggestion which is certainly a move of last resort.  But does anyone have a manual uninstall that identifies all the folders, random files, and keys that should be deleted to remove Premiere Elements 4 without impacting any of the other AdobeApps?
Thanks again for reading and thanks in advance for any assistance.

    Hi Hunt,
Excellent suggestions regarding going to the backups to find the missing key.  It didn't work, but it was still a great suggestion.  Since I couldn't get the (un)installer to run past the point of checking space requirements before the 1606 error, I couldn't run the repair cycle.  I contemplated the system restore carefully, but the restore point would probably have been well over a year ago. Good thought on the after market uninstallers but I agree that unless they were around to watch the 'goes-in', there's no telling what they'll to on the 'goes-out'.  Given the crap-shoot of trying to pick a reputable after market uninstaller to blindly remove APE4 without hosing anything else, I opted to take fate into my own hands...
So, I spooled a copy of the drive off to the back-up unit, flushed the folders, swept about 700 keys from the registry [700!!], and will keep fingers crossed for a little while.  Cursory checks on the other Adobe apps appear stable but we'll see what happens when I actually try to do a project.
In hindsight, apart from possibly being able to check the registry for each and every file before removal and compiling some list of all the things it was going to do for human review, the basic process a blind uninstaller would do use is pretty much what I did. And since most of those tool are designed for unskilled operators, I probably wouldn't have found one that was quite so dilligent in its reporting and actions anyway.
Thanks for the guidance -- you at least confirmed that the path I was planning through the wilderness was reasonable.  I'd pour you a glass of one of our fine NY State wines right here, but it would just gum up the keyboard.
    Best regards,
    joe

  • Silent Uninstall Premiere Elements 10

Did somebody get managed a silent uninstall of Premiere Elements 10?
As far as I understood I have to deactive the product first before I'll do an uninstall.
Is there a smooth way to automatically deactivate the software?
In enterprise environment (SCCM deploy) Iam not able to do something manually...
The silent installation is pretty simple if you follow the instructions in this article:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-elements/kb/silent-install-instructions-premiere-elements- 4.html
I searched a lot but I cant find something like that.
Chat- and telephone-support guided me in this forum.
    Thanks in advance...

Back at the main page http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere there is a link to the PPro SDK... but I have never seen such for PreElements
I don't work for Adobe, but my GUESS is that PreElements is much more aimed at the home user market, so it is really made for the individual user, not big companies with "central, enterprise" controls
