Should I uninstall SMCFanControl before upgrading to 10.4.9?

Did anyone successfully update to 10.4.9 with SMCFanControl installed? I didn't know if this should be uninstalled prior to updating?

I upgraded my MacBook Pro without any problems with SMC running (2.0 if that makes a difference).
So far my machine has been running fine.

  • Do I need to uninstall CS5 before upgrading to Creative Cloud?

Just bought a new iMac. Do I need my old software on there before I buy the new CC?

wondered if I needed my old software on it before upgrading.
    No.
"Upgrades" are all full versions of the software. They don't depend on prior versions being installed in order to function. Upgrade licensing just means you pay less because you already own a previous qualifying version.
In the case of Creative Suites (CS5, CS6) "upgrade" only refers to the serial number.
In the Creative Cloud there are no serial numbers. They're activated via your Adobe ID. The versions available in the Cloud (CS6, CC and CC 2014) are all full versions containing full executable code.

  • Should I uninstall CS3 before installing CS6 (not an upgrade)?

I have unsuccessfully installed CS6 onto a machine that already has CS3. I have gone through the whole CS6 installation and just can't find the new app anywhere - and CS3 is still there.

It should not be necessary. Except for Acrobat all the apps are independent. What OS are you running? Any error messages?

  • Should I uninstall CS3 before installing CS6? [was:Ton Limburg]

Do I have to uninstall all CS3 applications and extras, before installing CS6?

Of course I'll keep all my in CS3 made files for further use, and I'll upgrade them if needed.
I asked for retaining or removing applications... before installing newer versions, no upgrades.
But don't mention anymore, I deleted them.

  • Uninstall antivirus BEFORE upgrading to Yosemite!

I guess this is just a word of advice for those upgrading (i.e. not doing a clean install) Mavericks to Yosemite.
It appears that antivirus and non Apple login items, may interfere with the installation of Yosemite.
Therefore: REMOVE ANTIVIRUS AND LOGIN ITEMS (System Preferences ==> Users and Groups ==> Login Items)
BEFORE YOU UPGRADE OR do a clean installation!

    Yes, you are right,
Unfortunately it is our institution policy that all computers on premises must have an antivirus.
And yes, my macbook takes twice as much to start up.

  • Should I uninstall CS3 after upgrade to CS4

Sorry to ask such a basic question but...
I just installed CS4 after recently installing CS3 after upgragding from CS1. When I went from CS1 to CS3 I am sure that the installer took CS1 away? My PC now has CS3 and CS4 on my PC and I want to know if I can just go ahead and uninstall CS3? If I do, is there anything I need to be aware of?
    Thanks
    Martin

I have a similar question. I just bought a new desktop computer with Windows Vista. I was able to get Adobe CS2 (which is not designed for Vista) installed and working by using the fix mentioned in a few posts on this site...installing to c:\progra~2\Adobe. However, InDesign from Cs2 will no longer open my Pagemaker 6.5 files. I'm ok with no longer using Pagemaker since I know it is going obsolete, BUT I desparately need to be able to convert all my PM files to InDesign. So, my question is...first, does CS4 Indesign open PageMaker 6.5 files? Second, I'm not quite sure how upgrade installations work. Since I have CS2 installed into a special folder, is that going to be a problem to install CS4? Do upgrades have to install into the same folder as previous versions, or do they go into their own new folder? Do I need to uninstall CS2 first? Any help/insight would be appreciated!

  • Should I uninstall cf9 before installing cf10?

I'd like to keep my datasources and scheduled tasks,
but I'd like to have a clean install of cf10.
Can I uninstall cf9 and still keep the datasources and scheduled tasks intact?

You can install CF 10 next to an existing CF 9 on the same server. They will not conflict.  During CF10 installation you should probably not configure a webserver if that webserver is already configured for CF9.  Then later, remove the CF9 webserver connector and add the CF10 connector when you're ready.
Once CF10 is installed, it will prompt you to open the CF Admin to complete the migration wizard.  If you do so, all your CF9 settings including mappings, datasources, CFX tags, etc will be migrated over.  You can leave CF9 there as a back up if needed, but shut down.   Once you have another back up some place, and you have tested and verified CF10 satisfies your application needs, then you could uninstall CF9.

  • Should I uninstall Firefox 3.6.6 before Upgrading to OSX 10.6?

I want absolutely no glitches when I upgrade my MacBookPro from OSX 10.5.8 to 10.6.3. I use Safari as my main browser and Firefox only when a website does not work well with Safari. Therefore, I thought it might be best to uninstall Firefox before I upgrade, because I can always re-install Firefox after I have upgraded. What do you think? I have AppZapper to use to uninstall Firefox since it will search out and collect all Preference lists, etc., that accompany Firefox, resulting in a complete and clean uninstall. Any thoughts? Thanks!

    Hello Gordon.
I don't know if you should uninstall Firefox before upgrading Mac OS X (I don't think so, in any case), but you may be interested in knowing how to back up your information, if you are afraid of loosing it in the upgrade:

  • Should I uninstall Creative Cloud and CC apps before using migration assistant to my new imac?

I have heard that Creative Cloud and CC apps dont transfer well with the Migration Assistant from Apple.
I have a new iMac with Yosemite. Should I uninstall everything before using the Migration Assistant and then re-install Creative Cloud and apps afterward by downloading from the Adobe site again on the new iMac?
Is there a link to full instructions how to completely uninstall CC and the apps and clean up?

    Hi There,
Kindly follow the below mentioned steps.
Try to Sign out, Sign in | Creative Cloud Desktop app
Sign in, activation, or connection errors | CS5.5 and later
    If that doesn't help.
Try to uninstall the product and run the Adobe CC cleaner tool to be on a safer side.
Install Creative Cloud app, Install the product again.
Kindly revert if the problem still persists.

  • Should I uninstall the jre before I install the sdk?

I'm wondering what the best practice is here. I've had the jre 1.4.1_01 plugin installed and working fine with Mozilla 1.2.1.
Should I uninstall it before I install the sdk? I really don't want any conflicts but I'm sure if the jre in the sdk is for the sdk's use or if I can use it in my web browser as well.
    Thanks.

i you uninstall or not it doesn't matter, your sdk will jus work fine. But in the browser you got to select which jre you want to use.

  • Sealing a Management Pack before upgrading to R2

We are planning on upgrading our environment from 2012 SP1 to R2. I read somewhere that Management Packs should be sealed before upgrading. Not sure if the source was talking about a SM upgrade but seems logical it was. We have one particular Management
Pack with about 90% of our structure saved to and the Management Pack is unsealed. Should we seal it before upgrading to R2?
The article I read mentioned something about uninstalling and reinstalling of MP's during an upgrade and there was a potential for data to  get lost during this process if the MP is unsealed.

Bit late to the party, but it doesn't make sense to seal things before a version upgrade. the decision on sealed vs unsealed is usually made within minutes of the creation of the management pack: does it contain things that need to stay constant and can
be referenced? then it needs to be sealed. does it contain things that might change with normal organization operations? probably needs to be unsealed.
Classes, Forms, Enum Roots, and other "internal" things, should be in sealed MPs. these are things that NEED to stay consistent. Enum values, offerings, workflows, templates, all could change as the org changes, and those should generally stay
in unsealed MPs. everything else is (as always) a gray area; use your judgement.
That being said, there is an argument for keeping stuff you care about in other MPs then the default "configuration library" MPs. those are provided by microsoft, and technically, a new patch COULD distribute a new version of those MPs that wipe
out your changed, but MS would be HARD PRESSED to justify that after assuring all of us that those are intended for customer data.

  • Should I Uninstall The Old Version First?

I am about to purchase and install ID4. The previous user had installed ID3. Do I need to remove/uninstall that version first, before I install ID4?
What about the trial version of ID4......should I uninstall that before I install the full package?

    Thank You.
Anything special I need to know about bringing older ID3 files in to ID4? Does ID4 "convert" the files to the newer version?
If so, does that mean that they can never be saved again as ID3 files? There is nothing I can do to work my files in ID4, but save them as ID3 files so someone else can open them? We do have a couple three other machines that still have ID3. We cant afford to upgrade all machines to ID4. We can definitely do one copy of ID4, with luck the other person can buy a second copy of ID4, but after that the remaining machines are stuck with ID3.
