Should i update from ios 7.0.1 to ios 7.0.4 on my iphone 5C?
I want ir to run as faster as it is on 7.0.1 and i really fear ios 7.0.4 turns my iphone worse in those terms.

Yes you should update, you have one of the newer phones.

  • Should I update from ios 7.0.3 to ios 7.1.1?

I have a new iPod touch 5th gen I it has ios 7.0.3. I got this one to replace the last one that ios 7.1 update broke. My question is should I update to 7.1.1? I had 3 iPods die because of ios 7.1.

Well I would agree with you but this is my fourth ipod since ios 7.1 came out. I had a discussion going about the whole thing about a month ago. I would update to ios 7.1 and get halfway through (about the 25 - 30 g spot) installing my apps again and it would constantly reset. I tried restoring, downloading apps through iTunes and just on my ipod. I had tried different apps. I also tried restoring from back up. Everything I tried ended with my iPods continually resetting and that's all. I had reinstalled iTunes too.
So you see why I'm very hesitant to try. Do you know of any problems people have had with the ipod resetting itself over and over again with the ios 7.1.1 update?

  • Should I update from IOS 6.0?

I have an iPad Mini (WiFi only version) still running IOS 6.0 with no problems.  Should I update to 6.1.3?  I must admit that reports of problems after each update has me hesitant to do so.
    Advice is greatly appreciated.

I have 6.1.3 on my iPad mini wi-fi only and have no problems.

how many people are going to report that the device and ios are working like they should?  Very few, if any at all.  People only write when they have a problem.

  • Should I update my older phone and sync with ios 5 prior to doing a restore?

Should I update my older phone and sync with the new ios 5 prior to doing a restore to my new iPhone 5?  Is that necessary?

Well...the answer is no.  You can't downgrade the iOS, but it will update.  I just kept the backup from the older version and did a restore with the Iphone 4S and it worked fine.

  • Should I update from SD23 to SD28 - Momentus XT

I realize there are numerous discussions regarding firmware updates and the Seagate Momentus XT but fearing my question would get lost among the others..I'm starting a new discussion on it here.  If it needs to be moved please do so but at least it will have the opportunity to be answered.
I am currently running the following:
    MacBook Pro 13" i3 2.3ghz with OS X 10.7.2 Lion
    Momentus XT 500gb with firmware - SD23
    Model:  ST95005620AS
    I've been running this______________^ since March 2011.
My question is simple.  Should I update the firmware to SD28?
The reason I'm so far behind is because I didn't realize there were updates.
    Thank you in advance,
    Phil

    Talked to Seagate representative:
He addressed my question without any problem and directed me to the following link which identifies whether or not your hard drive has an update available.
    http://seagate.custkb.com/seagate/crm/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=207931&NewLan g=en
There is a link within this webpage that checks your drive by model # and** serial #.  To those wishing to upgrade the firmware..check first.

  • Is it time to update from 3.x to 4.x iOS on my iPhone 3g?

Still running version 3.1.2 (7D11) on my old iPhone 3g. When 4.x came out, i did not update and was glad I didn't becuse it was very slow on older 3g devices. Now lots of time has passed and I'm wondering if it is time to update? I've tried to install some new apps lately, and they were asking for a newer version of 3.x that is no longer available, so my only option is to bite the bullet and install the latest OS version.
    What do you all think?
    Thanks

I'm pretty happy with 3.1.2. I would like to find a way to update to 3.1.3, so I can install some apps that ask for that version. I don't see a way to do that. The only option is to go to 4.x. But if it really messes up my phone, i don't want to do it, since I really don't get much from it. I am planning to get a new iPhone 5 when they come out, I don't want to get a 4 at this point. Eventually I'll pull out the SIM and give it to my 10 year old to use like an iPod Touch.
If anyone else reading this has a 3g, let me know what your experiences are with 4.x
    Thanks

  • Should I update from itunes 6?

Hi. I have been wondering if it is a good idea to update my iTunes from a 6 to a 7. I dont really know what iTunes 7 does to your songs and podcasts, but I see at least one person is trying to change back to their original iTunes! I haven't seen anything really good about switching to a 7, so is sticking with a 6 a good idea?
And while I'm at it, I'll just ask in general, is the automatic update function on the imac good to use? I hesitate to upgrade anything automatically, and wonder what the more experienced people think...
    thanks.

    G4   Mac OS X (10.2.x)

You probably won't experience any issues installing iTunes 7 on your computer; these boards are meant for people who have problems or questions, which will make the probability that you will experience a problem seem like it is much larger than it actually is. If you want to be able to revert in case you do run into problems, back up the existing iTunes library, application, and installer dmg if possible prior to the update.

  • Should I update from OS X 10.7.5 to OS X Mavericks?

I have a MacBook (NOT a Pro) 2008 nickelback. Last time I updated I had a wifi issue and had to reboot computer entirely and downgrade it at te apple store

First, make a cloned backup to an external drive. Then upgrade. If there's a problem then you can easily restore the backup. Before backing up do this:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.

  • Should I update from Safari 505 to 5.1

I know Safari 5.1 changed a few things, including the way cookies, etc are handled.  Is there a pressing need to update?

from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1070 - maybe some security too, I forget. Disabling cookies completely seems not to work at all - apple know of it. It's  easy to revert back, anyway.
This update contains new features including:
Reading List: Easily add webpages and links to your Reading List to browse when you have time.
New Process Architecture: Safari has been re-engineered for improved stability and responsiveness.
Resume: In the General pane of Safari preferences, you can now choose to launch Safari with the windows from your last browsing session.
Better Privacy: A new Privacy pane in Safari preferences makes it easy to remove data that websites can leave on your system.
    Other improvements include:
Private AutoFill: Safari lets you fill out forms quickly while keeping your personal information private.
Find Option: When you use Find, you can choose whether you want to search for text that contains or starts with the text that you type in the search field.
Drag-and-drop Downloads: You can drag items out of the Downloads window in Safari, so you can easily place downloaded files on the Desktop.
Advanced Web Technologies: Safari introduces support for full-screen webpages, media caching with the HTML5 application cache, MathML, Web Open Font Format, CSS3 Auto-hyphenation, CSS3 Vertical Text, CSS3 Text Emphasis, Window.onError, and Formatted XML files.
New Extension APIs: Developers can take advantage of new Safari Extension support for popovers, menus, new event classes, and interaction with Reader.

  • Should I update from 1st generation to new Time Capsule?

I've had a Time Capsule since they were introduced and while it's worked OK, I'm wondering if the benefits of the new versions are sufficient to get a new one?  Does anyone have the experience of going from Generation 1 to 4 of the Time Capsule?
Thanks in advance for your opinion.

If you still have a working gen1 consider yourself LUCKY.. !!
It can and will die suddenly and without warning.
The new generation is better in terms of reliability.. but still a flawed design. It has a much bigger disk.. that can help since new computers have much bigger disks. The wireless is somewhat improved but not enough to go and buy a new one.
Work out your needs. There are several alternatives..
An airport extreme is a far more reliable device and you can plug a USB hard disk into it.
You can use a totally non Apple solution.. wireless router and NAS.. that will have huge speed advantages by wired connection. No big improvement via wireless.

  • It looks like updating Firefox causes problems with Macs. Should I update from 4.0.1 if it works? I have a Macbook Pro and have upgraded to Lion.

I've tried to update FF since I had Snow Leopard and it just kept spinning and couldn't connect. Now I see that maybe there was a good reason.

iOS 4.3.5 is not the same as iOS 5. iOS 5 with the new features you list has not been released.
