Should i update my ipod to version 1.2?

I dont no if i should update cause a lot of ppl said that it froze during the update but i bought a movie at the itunes store and it wont go onto my Ipod unless i update it... SHould i update?

Okay there's a lot of risk since the new version has come with a los of problems. but anyway this may help you..
With the new 1.2(wich i have and had a lot of problems but was able to slove) you can download games..(a very cool thing), also have a brightness control...but you could end up with many trobule like, your ipod doesnt work...or album art isnt available or cant show(happened to me). or worse.
Is a risk you can update, but youll have to pray for it to work well...or wait until the new version is available

I have a first generation iPod touch 16 GB, with software version 1.1.5 it is completely legal, no jailbreaking el.
Bought me an update to version 2.2, but then I got some problems..
When I should install the new update, iTunes starts to take backup of my iPod, etc., and then it stands "Preparing iPod for re-creation" (translated from norwegian! =) )
During this time, it appears a message that new hardware is found, and then Windows can not find the right drivers for the hardware,
and in Device Manager, I get two question-marks under "Other devices" as both called "USB Device"
Later it comes an error message in iTunes; "iPod could not be recovered. There was an unknown error (1604)."
I guess that the reason for the update is craching is that I can not find drivers for these two "Other devices"
Does anyone know which drivers i need/what i need to do to update my iPod?

How do i update to ipod software version 1.2.2

i am using windows xpsp2 with itunes 7.5 and an 80 gb 5.5 generation ipod.
When I synced my ipod today, i got a message saying that a new version is availible (version 1.2.2). I clicked ok, it synced but did not update to the new version. Now when I click on check for update, it tell me that 1.2.1 is the current version.

ITunes (Version 7.5, WinXP) is also telling me that my 5.5g Ipod is running the latest version (1.2.1). Any help anyone?

To update to iOS 5 you need OSX 10.5.8 or later. It is a paid update. To get for Apple you need to call them since it is not listed in their on-line store. Price is $129. Ifyou have G4 or G5 Mac 10.5.8 is the highest you can go.
Googling shows you do have a real 3G iPod so you can go to iOS 5.

Fire97 is corret. It appear that you have to resetup/activate the iPod. Just slide to unlock and following the on-screen prompts.

Hey Tom and Jerry, Not that matters, the decision is yours, but I have not updated. Many have reported slow or laggy response, apps closing, missing music, apps, photos etc. very poor battery life, as little as 1 to 2 hours on a full charge (Note; they did not say what they were doing). iPods turning off unexpectedly, and various charging issues. Many of the new features will only work with iPhone, require hardware the iPod simply does not have. Some have stated people working at Apple stores have told them that iOS 8 should not have been made for the iPod 5! With this said, many others have not report anything, either because there iPods work OK, or they don't know where to go to report a problem and are willing to live with it. And remember, once you move to the new iOS, you cannot go back. Personally, I'm resisting the move to iOS 8 for as long as I can. Hope this helps. Cheers.

Hi, i want to update my ipod touch (4th gen) to 5.1.1 so connected my device to itunes and it asks me to update it so i chose download and update. when my download began, i noticed that it's 750mb, and my dsl is a little bit slow (downloading that large would take around 6 hours). so i decided to cancel it and disconnect my ipod. here are my questions:
1. it that ok, what i just did? (cancelled the donwload), i checked my ipod to see if problems would arise since i cancelled the download, i thought maybe the update would be parallel to the time of donwload or something like that but it seems nothing is wrong with my ipod.
2. after disconnecting my ipod, the software update is still in the donwloads portion of itunes, can i still continue if even if my ipod is disconnected already?
3. if i choose donwload only instead, can i donwload it and then disconnect my ipod and then connect it for the update once the donwload is finished?
4 (last question) can i donwload the update (download only) using another computer, and then copy the update (if it would be located in the apps directory) and install it in the pc where i sync my ipod and update it from there?

Ok, so I had to use a different computer than I did before because that one is totalled (both are pc's). I am positive I was signed in to my itunes account. So after I did the update the ipod was TOTALLY wiped clean, itunes didn't even recognize it as "David ipod" anymore, it now said 'new ipod". My ipod is currently using the 1.0 version and I'm not experiencing any problems, but I wanted to update to the 1.1 version. I have heard so many people say it has caused problems with watching videos and movies on it. Is is worth it to update or should I just stay with 1.0.

Well... I downloaded 1.1 and everything is working fine; nothing has gone wrong, the Only reason I updated was because I bought an iPod Radio Remote and the old software version didn't support it. If you do not need this accessory but then I might not update it.
