Should I update to numbers 3.1

I am worried about upgrading to numbers 3.1 from 2.3 because of repoorts that things like print view are no longer available. What advice can you give please?

This is not an either/or situation. You can have your cake and eat it too.
If you have Mavericks installed, I'd say definitely give Numbers 3 a try. It's a powerful app under active development that is tightly integrated with iCloud and Numbers on iOS, allowing you to do data entry on the go and have it sync back automatically to your Mac. You can also share your work and collaborate with others much more easily than you could before. I use it more than Numbers 2 now as I don't need to print out legacy documents.
And the price is right. You have nothing to lose, except, as Barry notes, you'll want to take basic precautions to avoid opening the originals of important legacy documents in Numbers 3 until you're sure it's going to work as you want. Those precautions, of course, are common sense whenever upgrading any software.
Many of the "missing features" are due to moves to prune the aging user interface, some unfortunate but some maybe not so bad, including a much enhanced Pop-Up Menu and Conditional Formatting. The underlying calculating power is unchanged. If anything, it's enchanced (some additional functions, faster specs).
See the gained, lost, and workarounds threads to get a better feel for how the two versions differ, bearing in mind that some of the "losses" were "unlost" in the update to 3.1 earlier this week.

If you frequently enter repeating values in a column and don't want to type the same text over and over again, instead of just waiting for Apple's updates why not try using an enhanced feature in Numbers 3 that in many (probably most) situations is even better than "auto-complete"?
Numbers 3 has an enhanced Pop-Up Menu functionality that helps prevent typos or capitalization inconsistencies from creeping in and messing up your data. It is also much more efficient than auto-complete in Numbers for iOS, should you ever want to sync to an iPad or iPhone and do data entry there.
Pop-Up Menu is much enhanced over what it was in Numbers 2.3, and is easy to set up:
Select the whole column or range before formatting as Pop-Up Menu and your existing values in that column or range will pre-populate a menu automatically:
Then you can remove the values you don't want in the list, such as the column header (and possibly some previous spelling errors too!):
And after this easy one-time setup all you have to do thereafter is to choose from the pop-up list when you add rows:

Should you ever want to take your Numbers with you and do data entry on an iPad or iPhone, in a touch interface, pop-ups are much more efficient than typing the first few letters of items. You can scroll with ease through a list of dozens of items to make a pick. Anybody using Numbers cross-platform should favor Pop-Up so they can use their documents efficiently for data input on the go, which can be a productivity booster.

After an update of Numbers all my files dissapeared.

I recently purchased Numbers for my Ipad 2 and created numerous spreadsheets which have now completely dissapeared. I believe there was an update on Numbers that may have caused this to happen. Has anyone had this happen before, can I retrieve the files somehow and should I never use this spreadsheet program again.

Updating Pages, Numbers and Keynote in OS X Yosemite

I have a mid 2009 white MacBook, on which I have just installed OXS Yosemite. I am prompted to update Pages, Numbers and Keynote in the Mac App store. When I try to do this (also when I try to update via software update notifications), I am then told they can't update because they were not purchased with this Apple ID. I presume I set up my Apple ID after I'd purchased this MacBook with iWork preinstalled. I'd even be happy to repurchase these apps, but the app store won't let me because it just says 'update' instead of giving me a price. Any thoughts?

Here is a link to App Store Support. Apple iWork applications were never preinstalled on Apple hardware prior to 2014. This was a separate purchase, either earlier on via iWork '09 DVD, or later by OS X App Store purchase. Your preinstalled comment suggests to me that your Mac was pre-owned, and someone else installed iWork '09 applications using their Apple ID — which would block you from updating through your own Apple ID.
The iWork ’09 applications that are currently installed have considerably more functionality than the new (rewritten) applications that prompt those update notices. You do not have to update to Pages v5.5.1, Numbers 3.5, and Keynote 6.5. You should however, update the iWork '09 applications via the Apple iWork 9.3 updater.
If you want to disable the nagging update to newer software messages in Yosemite, I suggest you visit System Preferences > App Store. Check Install system data files and security updates, uncheck Download newly available updates in the background, and then uncheck Automatically check for updates.

Open orders should not update in MD04

I have the below requirement,
My business scenario is
when total open sales order quantity crosses a particular number(Ex:1000 Pcs) in a month, after that whatever the sales order we create it should not update in MD04.
Our Business process,
1. Creating a sales order
2. Allocation run (here system will execute Credit check, availability check, and listing an Exclusion etc. here we need to enter sales order no, plant, allocation type)
3. Creating a delivery
4. Invoicing the customer
Note:
Usually when we de check MRP type and allocation in Scheduline category system should not update in MD04, but if we de check this as for our business process system should not execute Allocation run

Mavericks is not recognizing the .smi extension - on my Mac it thinks it's a RealPlayer document. You are not going to be able to do anything with this - it requires AppleWorks to be present to be updated, and you can't run AppleWorks on Mavericks (other than by the rather roundabout process of installing Snow Leopard Server in Parallels and installing AppleWorks on that, as described here).

Ok, I know that this may be long but bear with me, really need your help guys!!!!
Ok, so a few years ago, I bought an iPhone 4 (I was in Zimbabwe, now in the US) that was factory unlocked from what I can tell. Reason why I "THINK" it's unlocked is because
1. It did not have Cydia installed when I got it, just stock with native apps only
2. Running on 02.10.04 Baseband (That cannot be Cydia Unlocked), I manage used several Network Providers and all Sim cards worked and still do, no problems. (Using T-Mobile Now)
3. Model Number is MC603B, and according to my research, it is a factory unlocked model.
Unless im mistaken???????
Here we go. The iOS 5.0.1 is out and I am now running iOS 4.1 (Jailbroken), which is really bakward, so loads of tweaks and apps cant run on my outdated iOS and i want iOS 5. I have heard people all over the internet complain that after the iOS5 upgrade, their phones locked-up and can't dowgrade or activate after the update, so if that happens im STUCK forever, and I really dont know what to do!!!!
HERE ARE MY QUESTIONS:
1. Is my phone really factory unlocked, based on what I listed above? Or is there any other way of checking???
2. If I DO update, do I risk locking-up my phone????

Well, since the iPhone is not officially sold in Zimbabwe, & that's where you purchased it, you can pretty much count on the fact that it was hacked to unlock it, regardless of what you think or see. Thus, you can be pretty much assured that if you update software your phone will be re-locked to the carrier it was originally locked to.

In order to maintain customer specific serial numbers you can do the following steps:
1. Maintain the serial numbers provided by your client in tcode IQ01. this will create the customer serial numbers in the system.
2. In the material master under Sales View maintain the serial number profile as 0002. this is sap standard.
3. Once the above has been maintained you can assign serial numbers at the time of delivery and NOT in sales order.

When the user press the button Calculate Tax (see attached doc) and click on Tax details then this should be updated automatically. But it does not work it is empty and the user has to update manually.

You might try Yosemite first, since it is free.
One option is to create a new partition (~30- 50 GB), install the new OS, and ‘test drive’ it. If you like/don’t like it it, you can then remove the partition. Do a backup before you do anything. By doing this, if you don’t like it you won't have to go though the revert process.
If you don't like that, then Mountain Lion.

Since the last update my Numbers app in IOS, iPad3 and iphone5 will not open. It works fine on my macbook pro. It starts but before I can open a file it closes.

If you've already restarted both your iOS devices after the update and Numbers for iOS still won't load, you might try clearing the documents temporarily out of iCloud, opening the apps, closing them, and then placing the documents back in iCloud.
To do this, in Finder on your Mac, hold down the option key and then Go > Library > Mobile Documents > com~apple~Numbers. Move the documents there out to the Desktop or other location of your choosing. Then give iCloud time to sync. Then try opening Numbers on iPad and on the iPhone. If they open, then close them, and move the documents back into Library > Mobile Documents > com~apple~Numbers and let iCloud sync again.
That sometimes clears up the problem.

Problems with new update of Numbers for Maverick

When opening any of my documents creted on a alder version of Numbers, I lose the format that I had on the page. The table or spreadsheet stays intact, but no the document perse. Where is the "Show Print View" feature on the new update of Numbers. I am frustrated and disappointed with the new changes, since I had to recreate all the spreadsheets that I had for my personal use and work.
