Should i upgrade my ipod touch 5th generation to iOS 8.0.2?

so far i have the iOS 7 latest update for my ipod touch 5th generation. However, i noticed that iOS 8.0.2 is released. i know that the first iOS 8 update crashed a lot as well as decrease speed, and i'm not sure if the new update fixed it. Would my ipod still function at the same speed?

I upgraded all my devices to iOS 8 with no problems except slightly faster battery drain.
Note that some users always have problems with any iOS update so just because you hear of problems does not mean it is any worse than other update. It is not worse than other updates.
iOS 8 does included some better security features so I would update

My iPod Touch 5th generation (running IOS 8.1.2), when connected to my iMac (running OS X Yosemite) will charge, but is not regained, or for that matter even noticed by the iTunes application. The iPod will sync to dropbox when connected, but nothing else. On the device, it will ask if to "trust" the iMac, I naturally hit that it should, but still no change.

  • Twice experienced an unusual problem with my iPod touch 5th generation running iOS 8.0: crashes and disables power up. HOME and POWER pressed together to reset.

iPod touch 5th generation running iOS 8.0. iOS crashed twice, disabling power up. The only recovery was pressing and holding the home and power buttons together for several seconds. The iPod touch then went into restore mode. I've never experienced, heard or read of an iOS crash preventing normal power up: device has known battery charge, does not respond to pressing power button or connecting to AC charger.

    That happens some times. Try:

  • Ipod touch 5th generation update iOS 8 Battery Life

I have recently upgraded to iOS 8 about three days ago and my battery charging time has become longer. It now takes a couple of hours to charge from 20% to 40-50%. It now takes forever to change the battery from red to green. I use to be able to see the difference in color in about 15 to 20 minutes. Also, when I plug in my ipod at 50% battery life, I go back to check on it and the battery is less than 20% even thought it was 50% and plugged in. The amount of battery at the top of the battery does not seem to increase even when plugged in. Should I take my ipod to Best Buy or an Apple store? or could I fix it myself or possibly wait until a new update happens? Anything on tips or directions will be greatly appreciated to fix this! Thanks!

I had an ipod touch 5th generation. I plugged it in at 18% and checked back 5 hours later, 47%. I checked six hours after that and it said 96%. I was looking at it and wondering why it was doing that and i noticed a cosmetic issue i haven't seen before on this model, it BENT. I went to an apple store, explaned the the problem, and since I had it for less than a year, they replaced it for free. I was running IOS 8 and then 8.0.2. I never had a charge problem with ios 7 so the one I got from the store came with 7.1.1. I believe the battery was swollen.

  • I dont like some of the features in ios 7. i miss ios 6. is there any possible way to downgrade my ipod touch 5th generation to ios 6.1.3?

i upgraded my ipod touch to ios 7 for the first time and i loved it at first. but i dont like the texting. the keyboard is all glitchy. it runs slower and is just way to smooth for me. i dont like that. i want ios 6 back. i miss the way i was able to text people. i want the old facebook back. it was much faster. i want ios 6 back. is there any way to downgrade? i dont wanna have to leave apple and move on to android. thats what a lot of people down here are doing because no one likes ios 7. we want ios 6 back.

iPhone desn't allow you to use whatever iOS version you want other than the most current. There is absoluetly no way to downgrade, authorized or non.

  • Can't update my iPod Touch 5th generation to iOS 6.1 - error 3194

I saw there was an update so I plugged it into my PC and it said that there was a new update available. I always update via iTunes. It download the update and started to backup my iPod. Then when it was updating and error 3194 popped up. I've tried several times, I've rebooted my PC, tried doing that thing with the host file and what not. Then I tried to install it via Wi-Fi but it just said that I wan't connected to Wi-Fi which I was.
How can I fix this? Is it a problem on Apple's side?

Try updating the iPod touch again.
A few people in this thread say the problem isn't happening anymore.

  • Has anyone else has seen this problem with their iPod touch 5th Generation with iOS 7.0.4. My screen started making flashing white lines across the screen, then went dim, then pixeled with purples

The ipod will show flashing white lines across the screen, going down, it then does somthing where the screen will dim down but its not like when the backlight goes on and its about to lock. It dims the background of your ipod and the icons and letters kind of all look defined. Then the ipod gets all pixelized and it has big boxes on pixels and its all differnt colors like purples and greens, red, etc. then it turns right off and restarts itself less than 5 seconds later. These things happen really fast but when it does it's really weird. It first happened 3 times in a row, Its still continuing to happen but i can manually turn off my ipod by holding the lock button down and not even 30 seconds later it's like its possessed and it turns on by itself. I talked to somone on appel and they told me to back it up and restore it. I restored it and as soon as the process ended and tuirned on like a brand new ipod and like clockwork the glitch happened instantly. It did it a couple of times throughout the night and i kept having to watch it so i can keep turning it off manually because it continues to turn on by itself. I talked to 3 different people on Apple Support and they couldnt even find an answer for me. It's so weird.

  • I can't update my ipod touch 5th generation to iOS 6.1.2

iTunes says it has detected my an error and need to restore. I tried to restore few times, it give me the same messages.

    Maybe:
Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .

  • Can the iPod Touch 5th Generation support iOS 5?

Just wondering if the new breed of iPod Touch will be iOS 5 (and by that I mean possibly, 5.0.0,  5.15.0,  5.25.0.1,  5.35.1, or 5.45.1.1).  If it can support one of the versions of iOS 5, a few, or even all, please specifiy.  Thank you!

Well, I mean it is possible to downgrade your software, all you have to do is find the iOS version you're looking for online, and when the iPod is connected, (if you're running Windows like myself), shift click (Shift+Click) the 'update' button on the iPods main menu, and instead of just updating to the newest iOS, it will ask you to locate the (iOS) file that you want the iPod to run on, in Windows Explorer.
This allows you to find older iOS versions just in case something to the newest version (such as iOS 6) isn't to one's personal preference.
I was just wondering, because I know many people with iPhone 4S's and many of them seem to not like iOS 6, and I'm not too keen on it myself.  Since I will soon be getting an iPod Touch 5g (which naturally comes with iOS 6 preinstalled), I was just wondering if the hardware on this newest iPod would be able to support the software for iOS 5?  Y'know, just in case.

  • I recently upgraded my iPod touch 5th gen to iOS 7.1, and now whenever I open up my gamecenter, the "friends" and "games" tab never stop loading, and it also won't log in when I play games that use gamecenter. What can I do to fix this issue?

I have already tried turning the power off and back on, holding the home and power button for ten seconds and shutting it off that way, and disconnecting from the wifi. None if those fixed the problem. However, resetting all of the settings did actually fix this issue, but then when I turn the ipod off and on again the issue is back. I don't want to have to keep resetting the settings on a daily basis, so what else can I do to fix this bug? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
