Should i upgrade to IOS 8.3 for IPAD2. my current version is 7.1.2

should i upgrade to IOS 8.3 for IPAD2. my current version is 7.1.2 and ipad2 is 64gb,wifi +3g

Do not do it! I just recently upgraded. My ipad 2 is super slow. All the efforts to speed it up/optimize didn’t help much. iPad 2 doesn’t have enough memory and cpu is not powerful enough to handle ios 8. Apple made bad call releasing it (or the intention was to brick old hardware so people go to stores to buy newer hardware). To make matters worse iOS 8.3 is very unstable – my ipad kept crushing very frequently – something I never saw before. Thank god I was able to revert to 8.2. I spent countless hours trying to downgrade to 7.1.2 only to learn that it’s impossible. I even went to Apple store to ask for help with downgrading but they just said what I already knew – it was impossible. Just like mdiamond58 said if I could downgrade to 7.1.2 I would do it in a heartbeat. Thank you Apple for changing my iPad into paper weight.

thanks for reply my question i just wanna know about ios 8.1 kill iphone 5s battery and how about bug ?
I had an iPhone 5s with iOS 8.1 on it and I didn't notice any more or less battery life. I don't know what "bug" you're referring to.
I recently upgraded to an iPhone 6 with iOS 8.1 and I do notice better battery life. But I think that's due to the new phone, not iOS.

  • HT1688 I need to upgrade to iOS 4.3 for iphone3

I need to upgrade to iOS 4.3 for iphone3

If you have a 3G you cannot update beyond iOS 4.2.1.  (Not sure why you have listed iOS 4.3.3 in your profile, unless your phone is jailbroken.)

    Lindsay,
Your iBookG4 is still a pretty awesome Mac. Like already said, it has the power to run Leopard, but it depends if you have an internal DVD drive.
Then I suppose you have to add up the cost of the OS, perhaps another 512MB RAM, iLife 08 and replacements for any favourite apps that you currently use (Leopard breaks a lot of stuff, but Intel breaks even more). Compare it to the cost of a new MacBook, which wil have all of that included and be 3-4x faster too.
It also depends on what you want to achieve with your iBook. My PMG4 still cuts it today, I still use it in preference to my new Mac Pro, It's about the same age as your iBook, and I'll only stop using it when it becomes "painfully" slow. My 1 year old son currently uses the Mac Pro (parts for a Mac Pro are easier to replace than those for a PMG4).
I think your choice is simple, if you can a cheap copy of Tiger, use that, it'll get your iPod Touch up and running. It came in DVD and 4 CD version (by request).
Leopard will work for you too but a lot of the best eye-candy requires quite a meaty graphics card and you may need a RAM upgrade and replacement software - OS9 Classic is not supported in Leopard.

  • HT4972 I have an iPod touch 3rd generation with IOS 4.2.1 and the newest version of iTunes.  However, when I press "check for updates" it says that IOS 4.2.1 is the current version.  How do I update?

I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.
    Identifying iPod models
    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.

  • Lost music & videos... Mistake to upgrade ios to latest for iPad2?

While traveling i made the mistake of upgrading my ios on ipad 2. Problems:
    1) music and video gone. Cant log into icloud (pw issue) despite using 1password - think this is down to synchronisation across devices... Too complicated, need phd?
    2) if an app stalls i cant double click the round button to shut that app down for a restart.
Any words of wisdom? Can i reverse upgrade or should this possibly considered?
Thanks to anyone who has any useful pointers for me.

That MAY work for some people but not for most. It is not possible to get content back. The content will be there the first time you try to access anything but will disappear again.

  • I have been trying to upgrade to iOS 5.1 for a while now and cannot find  out how to do it any hintsout hoe

I cannot upgrade my iPad 2 with iOS 5.1 for a while now any hints.?

First thing to try is a reboot of your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. See if that fixes your problem.
    Try the update again
Settings > General > Software Update
The update servers have been very busy so keep trying.

  • Upgrade my ios offline on my ipad2!!

    Hello.
I don't want to upgrade my ios version by connecting my ipad to itunes. Is there a way to do it by downloading ios to my mac and then upgrading the ipad?

Can i download a copy of the latest version of ios to my mac then upgrade my ipad offline?
You don't have any choice.  That's the only way that you can do it prior to IOS-5.
Connect to your computer.  If iTunes does not start automatically, start it up.  An update message will appear automatically.
    Edit...
I just reread your original post where you don't want to use iTunes.  Well, then what you want is impossible.  Why don't you want to use iTunes?

  • ITunes claims that iOS 3.1.3 is the current version (Can't update to 4)

I've been trying to upgrade my recently acquired iPhone 3G to iOS4. Unlike other people who are given the option to upgrade, I am told "This version of the iPhone software (3.1.3) is the current version". I know this is not true and I want to update, how do I do so?
Before you ask, yes, I have updated to iTunes 10.1.1.4...

Are you sure your phone hasn't been hacked/jail broken? Are you sure your phone is a 3G, and not an original iPhone?

    Disable firewall on your computer.
If you have iOS 5.0 or later, update directly from the phone by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

  • Failed to upgrade the iOS 4.2 for my iPad

My iPad information: iPad 16G, software version: 3.2.2.
    iTune version: 10.1.0.56.
when I try to upgrade the iPad to iOS 4.2, then the iTune always show "error = - 3259". I have try many times, but still fail.

Hi Carolyn, hope you might be kind enough to direct me further. I experience the same -3259 error but only after the download of the iOS 4.2 is complete and has progressed to the "processing file" stage.
Given that other iStore downloads via iTunes are successful, I can only infer there must be something special about the type of file in this download that my firewall or antivirus doesn't like. Pausing virus protection or turning off firewall does not seem to have an effect. I did not take the risk step of disabling both; I've asked support for file type data or something else I can use to allow it to pass .. but no joy there.
Have an appointment next week at an Apple store, but hoping some clued-in person might have the answer before that becomes necessary. Difficult as the iPad is actually working fine, just cannot obtain the file to update the OS!
Thanks for whatever thoughts you have.

  • I have just upgraded to IOS 7 and for some reason iMessage and face time will not work. It asks me for my Apple ID username and password and when I enter then it tries to sign in and then after a few minutes comes up with cannot activate try connection ?

I have just upgraded my iPad to iOS 7 and now FaceTime and iMessage will not allow me to sign in. I enter my appl I'd and password but after a few minutes I get a message to say cannot activate try network connection then try again no matter how many times you do this it will not sign in. Any thoughts ?
    Thanks neil

try resetting your phone by turning it off and back on again. The servers may still be having a hard time keeping up, so you may just need to wait a little while and try again.

  • Have a T410 core i3, should I upgrade to T520 or wait for Ivy Bridge T530?

What should I do? My T410 is just over a year old and is still fast but I want an i7 for school and work and really need a high res 15" screen.  My T410 is nice and all but I'm starting to feel the lack of speed with my Core i3 first gen.
    Should I wait or not?

I may just go with a Gen 2 Intel SSD. I like there performance and prcing. It just takes money like everything else though.

  • I have a 2 year old iPad and have upgraded the iOS as they came available.  Currently the iPad runs iOS 7.03.  Today a friend was talking about "Personal Hot Spots".  His iPad displays this option via 'setting', but is not even listed on mine.  Plse help.

I have a 2 year old iPad updated to iOS 7.03.  For some reason "Personal Hotspot" does not even come up as an option in " Settings" .  I do not know if it was there in previous iOS versions as I've only just heard of it.  I have tried it on 3G and WiFi.  I have entirely deleted my WiFi and rebooted the iPad, all with no joy.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou

As Stated... The iPad 2 does not offer this Feature.
