Should I use AIR or Flash Player 10 ???
Hey guys, I have made a normal flash appliaction using Flash CS4 and it works fine. I have the last step which is about reading and writing to files. I want to use air appliction to do this. So I changed the Player to AIR 1.1 but an error start to come which is:
1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: Vector.
I dont know what's this!! it just appeared when i changed to AIR 1.1
Some people said this is because you are not using Flash Player 10. If so, how can I use the AIR application while keeping the application works. Please help me i have to finish this within two days.
Thanks alot
The Vector class isn't supported in AIR 1.1. It is supported in Flash Player 10, and also in AIR 1.5, which came out last fall.
If your version of Flash Professional CS4 still has AIR 1.1 instead of AIR 1.5 in the publish dialog, then you can download a free update to Flash Professional that will add support for publishing to AIR 1.5. That should remove the error message.
To get the update, in Flash choose Help > Updates

I think the McAfee suite will do the trick when I pay them a one-time fee of $69 or $179 for a year for unlimited support.
Your call of course but IMO a waste of money. Please read this first:
There are many forms of ‘Malware’ that can affect a computer system, of which ‘a virus’ is but one type, ‘trojans’ another. Using the strict definition of a computer virus, no viruses that can attack OS X have so far been detected 'in the wild', i.e. in anything other than laboratory conditions. The same is not true of other forms of malware, such as Trojans. Whilst it is a fairly safe bet that your Mac has NOT been infected by a virus, it may have another security-related problem, but more likely a technical problem unrelated to any malware threat.

Macbook air adoble flash player doesn't work after installation
macbook air adobe flash player doesn't work after installation
If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 7. Back up all data before making any changes.
Step 1
You might have to log out or reboot before a Flash update takes effect.
Step 2
In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
Close the window. Then select
▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
Step 3
If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, log in to YouTube and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
Step 4
If you get a warning of a "blocked" or "outdated" plug-in, then from the menu bar select
▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch the browser.
If the warning persists, triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Inside it, there should be a file named "XProtect.meta.plist". If that file is missing and you know why it's missing, restore it from a backup or copy it from another Mac running the same version of OS X. Otherwise, reinstall OS X.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
Step 5
Open this folder as in Step 4:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
Step 6
Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from the domain "get.adobe.com". Don't click a link from any other website, including this one, because you can't trust links. They may be an attempt to trick you into installing malware masquerading as Flash. Type the address into the browser window. Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
Step 7
If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
Then click the button marked
Manage Website Settings...
if present and make sure that the website is not blocked for Flash.
Step 8
Select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them. -
Samsung - Flash Air and Flash Player will no longer be supported from February 4, 2014 ?
What are peoples thoughts on this?
We have been alerted that Adobe will no longer continue to support Flash on Samsung Smart TVs and BluRay players. As a result, Flash engines will not be supported in 2015 Samsung products. Going forward, Flash-related features will be excluded from SDKs released. Although Flash engines will remain to be equipped on existing Samsung products, including 2014 models, there will be no technical support from either Samsung or Adobe. Accordingly, any applications developed with Flash Air or Flash Player will no longer be acceptable. Samsung recommends using either HTML 5 or Javascript based applications if the application in question is Flash-based. Beginning on February 4, 2014, any Flash-based application, including any updated versions of such will not be acceptable for submission.

Not being able to deploy Adobe Air in Samsung devices is a huuuuuge kick in the teeth suley?I'm not an Adobe or Samsung expert, but it seems to me that...
on Samsung Smart TVs and BluRay players
..is not the same as (all) "Samsung Devices". -
What camera resolution mode is used by the Flash Player camera settings manager
What camera resolution is used by the Flash Player camera settings manager? I am referring to the camera settings that you have to pull up by right-clicking on a Flash Player swf that is running, and from the right-click menu you hit settings...select the camera tab...and then you can hit the little camera icon and will show you the live video feed from the camera.
In order for the live feed to be displayed, Flash Player requests a camera resolution mode to the driver. What mode is being requested?
For example, could it be 160x120 @ 30fps?
Or is it 176x144 @ 30fps?
http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help04.html#117113I have the same cam as you (it's apretty darn good cam IMHO).
I don't ever see any resolution request when I click the icon.
My cam initializes at 1920X1080, per the logitech specs. The box in the settings is 4:3, but the cam is running at 16:9, in apps like Skype, or FaceTime (Mac).
It shows the same setup screen in WIn XP, Vista, Win 7 and Win 8, which ALL share the same cam on my setup.
Being as the cam feed in the setup is 4:3, I'd have to say the resolution is 160:120 as opposed to 176:144 which would be a 5.3:3 or 16:9. -

What app should I use to view flash video on iPad?
You can also try Puffin or iSwifter. One of those might work for you, depending on the site(s) you need to view. All get mixed reviews, though.

Trying to find the URL used when installing Flash player via ActiveX pop-up
I'm trying to determine what URL would be used when a customer clicks on the Activex Pop-up to install Flash player.
I've found a document that indicates the URL used when updating Flash Player via the Auto updater, but I think they are different URLs.... Can anyone help?thanks guys for the replies.
Just to clarify, I am in no way having troubles installing Flash player. I'm a tech specialist, and have been for many years. I am fully able and aware of how to update Flash player.
What I am trying to get is the URL that would be used when a client click on the "Install Adobe Flash Player" ActiveX Pop-up.
thanks for the URLs you sent, and I do have those, I'm just wondering if any can confirm "as for sure as possible" what URL is used with that ActiveX Pop up.
Our corporate has several web-based products that do NOT work with th emost recent version of Flash Player.
We are trying to find all possible Flash Player installer URLS that are used, so we can block them on our Proxy server.
Thanks again for everyone's reply, and if anyone knows for sure the info I need, please let me know -
I can't download Adobe flash player, and it keeps telling me to, especially to watch videos, is there anything else to use besides Adobe flash player?
You would download Flash from here http://www.adobe.com/go/EN_US-H-GET-FLASH however if your running an old version of Mac OS X say 10.5.8 or earlier then you cannot run the current version of Flash which is 11.3
Remember you not only have to download Flash but you have to run the installer.
Some websites that use Flash might tell your computer the site needs a specific minimum version of Flash and as above if your running too old a version of Mac OS X then you will not be able to run a new enough version of Flash. -
API indicator about sound using by the Flash Player
Is it possible to add an API indicator which will inform about sound using by the Flash Player?
I mean situation from web browsers where you mostly has few tabs opened and don't know which one is playing the sound. It would be great if Flash Player instance could inform about playing sound. Some kind of API, dynamic HTML tag (playingsound=TRUE/FALSE) or something like this which can give an opportunity to browser to react on. The best example is ofcourse Chrome which has own implementation of Flash Player and adds small speaker icon on tab which is playing the sound.
The main reason of this thread is issue 486262 – Provide visual indicator as to which tab is causing sound from Mozilla Firefox Development but it can be global feature and helpfull for every browser and other applications using FP.Could you do me a favor and post a screenshot of this box that is appearing?
How do I capture and post a screenshot or video? -
Since I installed the last OSX actualization I cannot install neither use the Adobe Flash Player.
Please help me to solve this problems.
Thanks.Try un-installing and then re-installing Flash Player.

Should I be afraid to use my Adobe Flash player?
This is not really a problem, but what I am trying to do is avoid any problems.
So long as Adobe Flash is up to date and you update it when patches come out, there is no reason to worry about using it. Are you having some specific problems with Flash player?

Adobe AIR skips Flash Player security sandbox
When I installed the first Adobe AIR Showcase demo, I felt
curious about how will it install itself from inside Flash Player
sandbox. So I clicked "install", and it really installed something
on my own \Program Files ! without my confirmation
How can it be possible, I thought Flash Player had a sandbox
but it looks as it adoble is able so skip it.
If it is publicly available (and not a backdoor), I could use
it to install some ActiveX controls my web application needs to
interact with Excel.
I checked the flash player 9 security pdf document, and it
looks as it flash documents should not be able to write anything to
my local disk.
