Should I wait for the iPhone 5 or get the iPhone 4S now?, Should I wait for the iPhone 5 or get the iPhone 4S now?

I dont know what to do! I really want an iPhone 4S now, but I don't know if i will regret it later once the iPhone 5 is released. What should I do? Is it worth the wait? If I do get the iPhone 4S right now will I be happy? I know it sounds stupid, but you all probably know more about this than me.. I'm new to Apple products.

Not really, we're all users just like you & no one here would have any idea about any future Apple products. Further, the terms of use here prohibit the discussion about Apple's plans.

  • Should You Buy An iPhone Now, Or Wait For The Next One?

    Great article by HuffPost Tech.
The most common thing I get asked whenever I tell anyone I'm a tech writer is some version of the question: "Should I get a new iPhone now, or should I wait until the next one comes out?" It is as though my business card should read not "Technology Writer," and instead "iPhone Psychic"
Not that I am not happy to prognosticate! And in that spirit, here's a look at the questions on everyone's mind: Should I buy an iPhone now? And if not now, when?
First, let me say that I am fascinated by the peculiar kind of panic that I encounter in people I meet who are deciding on a purchase date for their next Apple phone. I call it the iSenberg Uncertainty Principle: Potential iPhone buyers exist in a constant state of anxiety, perpetually worrying that purchasing an iPhone on any given day will mean that they will miss out on the inevitably cooler version with the mind-blowing new features soon down the road. The Cupertino Sword of Damocles constantly dangles over their heads, threatening to pierce them with unhipness and iShame.
Here is one solid piece of advice I can offer to help you avoid the Sword: Do not buy any new iPhone until September. Apple has an annual media conference each September, and every blog with the word 'Mac' in the title is reporting that Steve Jobs is going to do his black turtleneck thing and introduce some kind of new iPhone there. The September Media conference is generally used to present the new iPods, but as All Things Digital reports, Apple plans to "commandeer" the conference for its official iPhone announcement.
Apple is long overdue to release its new iPhone anyway, if history is any indication. Look at this handy little timeline:
    June 2007: original iPhone released
    June 2008: iPhone 3G released
    June 2009: iPhone 3Gs released
    June 2010: iPhone 4 released
    June 2011: Nothing!
In other words, the 5th generation iPhone is already a month late, so it makes sense that the rumors are swirling. Apple's tardiness can be explained by the fact they've actually already released two iPhones in 2011 -- the Verizon iPhone in February and the unlocked iPhone 4 in June. Their schedule is all screwy, like a traveler trying to get over jet lag. But all signs point to them getting right with a September Apple iPhone release.
So what jaw-dropping new feature will this iPhone boast? We're hearing that the "iPhone 4S," as it is rumored to be called, won't be the dramatic re-imagining that many of us have come to expect with each new iPhone release. Tech blogThis Is My Next thinks that it will be thinner and lighter, and that it will run on a new chip; the New York Times thinks that it will be the same dimensions as the iPhone 4 but that it will be cheaper. Bloomberg agrees with This Is My Next on the chip and adds that the rear-facing camera will upgrade to 8 megapixels from 5 megapixels.
Now, even if you're just a normal, non-geek iPhone user, who doesn't care if the rear-facing camera doubles its megapixel count, or if Apple has changed the manufacturer of its data processors, or whatever, you still need to at least wait for the alleged iPhone announcement, and here's why: if history is any indicator, the introduction of a newer iPhone model is accompanied by a drop in price of older iPhone models. When the iPhone 3GS was announced, the price of the iPhone 3G dropped by $100; when the iPhone 4 was announced, the price of an iPhone 3GS also dropped by $100. Even if you know that you're not going to drop $400 on whatever iPhone Apple begins peddling in September, there is no sense in paying more money for an iPhone 4 or 3Gs now when the base price of both seem like locks to drop in two months.
But before we start fantasizing, how can we be so certain that Jobs is even going to announce an iPhone in September if Apple hasn't so much as indicated such a thing? How do we know that all of these rumors weren't just started by lonely nerds like me and my co-workers emailing each other from our mother's basements, inciting iPhone rumors all on our own?
Well, first of all, I don't live with my mother; and second of all, the new iPhone rumors have sprung forth from two reliable sources held in high journalistic regard.
The first is esteemed, award-winning tech journalist John Paczkowski of All Things Digital, who blazed iPhone prognostication trails by predicting back in April that an updated iPhone 4 would be unveiled at the September Apple music Conference and has steadfastly maintained the claim is true through June and into July. In fact, he confirmed as recently as July 5 that a shiny new iPhone looked to be in the early stages of supply chain production, and that people close to the company still believe that the new iPhone would be ready for the Jobs treatment in September.
So there is Reliable Source One.
Reliable Source Number Two is the Wall Street Journal, not exactly a one-laptop operation. The paper gives "the end of September" as a target launch date, which squares up with both Paczkowski's prediction of a September announcement and release. This doesn't even mention This Is My Next's separate prediction of a September release, nor 9to5Mac reporting that there are going to be two new iPhones in September, one low-end and high-end. But now we're falling down the rabbit hole and into the basement again, so let's focus:
There is likely to be a new iPhone in September. It will likely affect the price of all the other iPhones. The iPhones available now -- the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 3Gs -- will probably be cheaper in two months. Unless you drop your current iPhone in a pool, a bathtub or a volcano, do not buy an iPhone until Steve Jobs opens his beautiful brilliant mouth at the Apple conference in early September. When the post-turtleneckian dust settles, we'll have a clearer picture of whether or not this rumored new iPhone is worth the money. And then we can talk about--well, whether or not you should buy an iPhone now, or wait until the next one comes out.

Apple has two prototypes out testing now.  One is a thinner totally redesigned case.  The problem with it is that Foxconn can't seem to build it.  Hence the delay.  The other prototype uses the existing case, but with updated (read dual core) internals.  If they can get production up by September the first phone will be released and will be the iPhone 5.  If they cannot, then the second prototype will be released as the iPhone 4GS.

  • What should I do when my iPhone is in recovery mode, I'm trying to restore, and it's stuck at the "Waiting For iPhone" stage??

I dropped my iPhone on the ground, and as I went to pick it up, I started to swear under my breath as I realized my iPhone was in recovery mode. I'm like "how would an iPhone be this sensitive -_-," and so as my iPhone's docked unto my laptop, and with relentless attempts to restore my iPhone, I always find iTunes stuck at the "Waiting For iPhone" stage and I honestly have no clue what to do at this point. What should I do to bypass this or fix this problem? Or do I just wait? -_-

Nothing except that when I turn it on, there's a USB cable and an iTunes logo above it, indicating that it's in recovery mode.

This error normally appears if you attempted to downgrade or modify your iOS. See here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694#error1015

  • I'm considering getting an Iphone. Should I wait for the newer model, or get the 4S?

Hi. My upgrade is coming up for my phone plan in July. I really want to upgrade to some sort of smart phone and have narrowed it down to either an HTC, or an Iphone. I need a new Ipod anyway since I have a second gen Itouch so an Iphone looks like a good deal. I am aware that apple releases new versions of their iphone every year so my question is should I wait until the next model comes out and get it, wait until the next model comes out but get a 4S that drops in price, or get the 4S right away when I become available for my upgrade. I am a sprint user btw. Thanks for your help.

Waiting (or not) is up to you... no one here knows your situation, wants, needs, etc.  Apple has not announced anything and it's not certain they will release a new iPhone this year.
All that being said, if it were me, I would wait a few months.

  • Should i buy an iphone 4s or wait for the iphone 5 to come out

hi, just wanted to know if i should buy an iphone 4s or simply wait for the iphone 5 to come out... Do you know what is going to be new on the iphone? is there going to be another iPhone?

We only know what information Apple has released. The only real thing released is iOS 6 will be out in the Fall. We have heard no official announcement as to the date of that release, nor have we received any announcement of the release of a new iPhone, no matter what they want to call it. Your decision to purchase a phone has to be based on your need at the time and what is available.

  • Should I buy the iPhone 4S or to wait for the coming model?

I am the owner of a iPhone 4 and I'm thinking to buy the 4S but I don't know what to do... Should I wait for the coming model? I see it's not that different than the iPhone 4.
    Thanks guys!

There are some major differences between the 4 and th 4S. The 4S has a faster processor, better camera, Siri, speech-to-text. Whether any of those things are important to you is something only you can determine. If you are happy with your current phone and none of those things matter to you, you should wait. Personally, I found the features of the 4S made it well worth the upgrade from the 4 for me.

  • My wife and Iare newbies with iPhone 5s. (Should have waited for the 6.) I have usediTunes for a long time for my iPods, but now we both want to use the iCloud do access different music up there. Any help in doing that? If we can do it, we will be ad

I'm running iTunes on a PC laptop and ready to move music to an independent hard drive. We want to add more music to it. I have used iTunes for a while for iPods. My wife and I have new iPhone 5S and would like to access the cloud for different types of music, but I will maintain the music in the cloud. (That's my job.) Can 2 iPhones use the same iCloud? We each have different Apple ID's. Thanks.

Music in the cloud is managed by the separate iTunes Match service ($25/year US). You would sign up to it on the PC, and your music library would be matched with the iTunes Store, and high quality versions of all songs would become available to you on any device also signed into iTunes Match. You should not delete your local copy from the PC, since you should retain a master version of all songs for safety.
You can use the same iTunes Match service, but you'd see the same music (you say you "would like to access the cloud for different types of music", but I'm not sure what you mean by that).

  • Should i wait till february to get the iphone 5s? or get it for christmas/

    should I?

What do you expect to happen in February?
If you want/need a new iPhone, then get one. If you do not want/need a new iPhone, then don't.
Do you have any other information that would help us, help you, make a decision?
For the record, I have an iPhone 4s and will most likely keep it for awhile, as I've only had mine since "Last" February

  • I am moving to the U.S. for a year, from the UK. Should I get an iPhone here (UK) or wait until I'm there?

I am moving to the U.S. for a year, after which I will be returning permenantly to the UK. I am going to buy an iPhone, but am unsure whether it would be better to buy it here, or when I get over there?
Hopefully the phone will last for more than a year!

If you do buy before you go do not worry about your warrenty as Apple should still support iy as all you need to prove is that you bought it while you were a resident in the UK.  Why companies do not like to support other contry warrenties as they wany to stop grey imprts.  In your case you are a UK citezen going to the US for a year and they should support it.  Though like most users you probably will not need this option.
Buying before you go means that when you return to the UK you will still be able to use your phone here in the UK.  The US carries like 2 + year  contracts and tend to be more expensive than UK contracts.  Not sure if they have as many deals as we do have in the UK.

  • Should i get a ipod 5g or a iphone 4s or wait for the cheaper iphone

  • I am planning to buy an iPad. I already have an iPhone and a Macbook Pro. Should I wait for the new iOS 8 to arrive?

    Greetings,
I am wondering about the upgrade coming up, to iOS 8. Should that affect whether I buy and iPad now, or not?

No, it shouldn’t. Unless you’re getting a first generation iPad(which isn’t capable of running iOS 8), you’ll be able to update for free.

What a horrible way to treat customers. I was due for updates on my phones and thought I should maybe check some other prices but have been with Verizon for 20 yrs so ended up there. I got 2 new IPhones 5s and the wife couldn’t decide what she wanted so she stayed with old phone but this locked me into a new 2 yr contract . Within a wk one of the new iPhones started turning on and of like 10 –15 times a day. Wk 2 it turned off and would not turn on again . It was my sons who was in college at the time so we talked and he took it in to a Verizon store where he was told I need to come in since the account was in my name. He was away from home , Verizon could see on account it was his phone they said it was not abused, they could not even turn it on , they sold me the phone give him another phone maybe even a loaner till he gets another. So now I need to go to store and explain to 3 different people this is my phone and my son has it and I need a new one. what a waste of time after about 2 hrs and talking to different people and yes they said there were notes on his account from other person he had talked to from different store. So I finally walk out with a receipt in hand and being told I would have a new phone in a couple days. As I sat in my vehicle thinking this is stupid I looked at my receipt and noticed it said droid on it so back into Verizon I went. The salesman said that’s what your son has on his account. My son had activated a friends old phone so he has one since VERIZON REFUSED to give him one. Another hr 3 people and yes they can see he had a new iPhone and notes on it from other store. Sometimes sorry just doesn't do it. I was now late for a appointment . Now I walk out and have been told I will get a new iPhone in the mail in about 2 wk Yes 2 wks   again I bought it there just give me a new one and you send old one back. I will also get a new droid that I have to send back because they said they cant cancel it  . In about 3 days I get the Droid and sent it back Verizon mistake and a waste of my time . After waiting over 2 wks and not receiving a new iPhone back to Verizon I went . I am now bitter at Verizon after doing 20 yrs of business with them. 3 people 1 hr later I was told it got delivered to my post office . I got the tracking num called the post office and they say o yes that was the droid. Go back in to Verizon another hr of explaining I walk out being told I will get a new iPhone in a couple of days, We’ll see . Once again I got the phone in your store just give me a new one . Do you realize how much of my time you have wasted ? do you care? O what is Your Policy ? How many Billion did you make last year ? I am Locked into a new 2 yr contract . Why don’t you just release me ? After 20 yrs do you think I will ever renew my contract ?

Simple process. If an iPhone go to the Apple Store and not Verizon
the phone from Verizon will be a refurbished device and not new unless under the 14 day worry free guarantee
    good luck

  • I'm waiting for my new iPhone 5s to be delivered. I lost my iPhone 5 but did have it backed up on my MacBook Pro. I was using iOS6 at the time. Will I have a problem restoring the data to my new iPhone 5s assuming it will come with iOS7?

No, you should not.  There are problems trying to go the other way, but updating a newer iOS release from a backup of an older iOS release has always been supported and is the basic means of setting up a new device from a previous one.
