Should it take SEVEN hours??

Just wondering, should my 64Gb Wi-Fi iPad take around 7 hours to charge?? This seems to be a ridiculous amount of time to charge, is it normal?? If it's not what should I do?
P.S. I am charging it through a dock plugged into a 27" iMac (latest iMac)

The quickest way to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter. *When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge, but only when it's in sleep mode.* Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Does your iPad not charge when connected to your Mac when your iPad is in sleep mode?

  • Do I need to download the software to restore my iphone every time I restore one and should it take 3 hours?

Do I need to download the software to restore my iphone every time I restore one and should it take 3 hours?
I have an iphone 3G and an iphone 3GS and apple prompts me to download the software for each every time I use the restore function, this takes an (itunes) estimated 3 hours.
    Thanks in advance.

Yes, that's correct - I misunderstood your question - I thought you meant you were downloading mutliple times for the same phone.
Apple provides separate files for each iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad model - with iOS and iCloud, this will improve since you'll only have to download the updates, not the complete file

  • Should it take 3 hours to load leopard?

Should it take 3 hours to load leopard?

You might want to start over. Erase and Install 10.5. Then update to 10.5.1. Then Parallels (You need the latest version (3.something I believe) to run on 10.5. If you have installed an earlier version, that might explain part of your problem.) After that you can install Vista.

  • Should it take 7+ hours to export my 2 minute video?

I converted footage from my flip cam to apple ProRes 422 in Quicktime 7. I did some quick edits, threw a few fllters on there & made a minute & a half video. Iopted for the simple share feature to export the movie for youtube. It’s been transcoding for 7+ hours.  Should it really take this long? Or should I try exporting it some other way?

No, it shoudln't take that long.
    Yes, try something else.
Exactly what you're doing wrong is difficult to tell from the post but the most liekly cause is FCP is going back tot eh original media, doing a frame-by-frame conversion, and then rendering and then attempting to transcode to the YT target.
Export a self-contained movie, use Compressor to arrive at the YT specs or bring your movie back into an empty sequence, share to YT from that.

  • I am trying to perform an iCloud backup after 10 weeks, should it take 64 hours to perform?

I have been trying to perform a backup to iCloud and at one point it said remaining time was 64 hours.  Is this normal time since last backup was 10 weeks previous?

No, not unless you have a massive amount of data and a very poor internet connection.  However, the estimate can be wildly off, especially at the beginning.  Has it be backing up long?

  • Should it take 17+ hours to authenticate an iBook?

I'm trying to publish on iBooks. So far it's taking over 17 hours for iTunes producer to authenticate the book, which was written on iBooks author. It seems unreasonably long. What is going on? Why is this so much slower than Kindle?

    Hello SMK,
Yes it is indeed way too long.
As far as I remember when I uploaded one of our latest books which is a gig in size it took 20 minutes to upload and authenticate.
So there definitely must be something wrong.
Try contacting iTunes Producer support and they will be able to walk you through it to make sure you have all your steps correct.
    Regards,
    Nigel

  • 3Minute Clip Takes 3 HOURS to encode

Got a Dual core XPSP2 system with 2GB RAM.
Taking THREE HOURS to make a little 3 Minute clip to Windows media (disaster area 9)
    THREE MINUTES!
CS3 has been taking HOURS, often TEN or more to do straight forward encoding that Canopus would do in 0.67 real time.
But For Gods Sake THREE HOURS for a 3minute Clip, from the time line.
I have done Quicktime versions in almost realtime. But they would would not insert into Powerpoint.
Its a 16:9 project, so trying to get Windows Media to handle that is an impossible task, as Windows is stuck in 4 by 3.
What is going on, that PPro 1.5 and 2 versions will encode with "MEDIA Encoder", in almost real time, yet CS3 takes YEARS
I have built three other PCS so I can get on with other work, thanks to CS3 taking the next century to do anything.
I note your training notes all only very short clips. But I am sure a 3 MINUTE Clip should not take THREE HOURS!

Actually its still exporting, (9 hours later) total time for this 3min clip is now expected as 16 hours. What would I expect if I wanted to do the whole 1hr show, abandon my PC for a week or longer.
The issue with 16:9 material is that you have to shrink it down, as Windows will not allow 16by9. So the resolution and quality is completely lost, as you end up using only about 2/3rds the original number of lines.
So I am ending up encoding 1/3rd of my project as BLACK, to fit down to the 4by3 constraints of windows.
This is the AVI File. I have tried the timeline, but there is a Zoom in and out of a still frame, which changes its zoom/motion path, if I export /encode to windows media, as the aspect ratio is changed by this 4;3 disaster, so the picture zooms in and out to the wrong sections, it is designed for the correct original 16by 9, but with the encoding it gets its knickers in a twist and goes to the wrong areas of the image.
The lip sync also goes to pot. Tried encoding to Quciktime, but the lip sinc is so slowed, its impossible to watch.
This is a 16by 9 PAL Project. 3 Minutes of a man talking on a locked off shot, with one single zoom in and out of photograph.
Why should it take almost a full day to encode 3 damn simple minutes, and mess up the lip sync, and fuzz up the original sharp image, to a pixelated bunch of rubbish.

  • How long should yosemite take to install?

yosemite update shows over 24 hours to install, is this normal?  My computer goes into screen saver mode and install is paused.

A clean install is about 25 minutes. An upgrade install could take upwards of an hour or so. Should never take 24 hours. That probably means the upgrade has stalled. You should have changed your Energy Saver preferences to Put Computer to Sleep - Never.
You can quit everything by holding down the Power button until the computer shuts down.

  • HT4718 am trying to install OS X Lion for the first time. So far it has been downloading for about 2 hours. How long should it take?

    Can anyone help please?
Lion download to iMac has been running for about 2 hours and is still not halfway yet. How long should it take? should I cancel and start again?

1500Kbs is 1.5Mbs. That is Kilo bits per second. There are 8 bits to a byte so if you divide 1500 (or 1,500,000) by 8 you get 187500 bytes a second. Divide 3.5GBs (3,500,000,000), that capitol B is for Bytes, by that 187500 you get 18666.666 seconds. Which needs to be divided by 60 to get the minutes and then again by 60 to get the hours.
    5.1851xxx hours.
I use to have a 3Mbs DSL connection and it took me over 3 hours to download Lion. Now that I have a 19Mbs Cable connection it take about an hour to download and install.
So wait it will happen eventually. If you cancel and start again your are still going to wait 5+ hours.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

You are on Windows 2000, you do not have a "Firefox" button, and should consider yourself to be fortunate in that you still have menus and don't have to do anything to get the menus back instead of the "Firefox" button. (The same applies to Windows XP users).
Use the "File" menu to get to Import. You are not on Windows 7 or Vista, and don't have to put up with the nonsense added for Aero.
If you want the "Firefox" button you can get it with View -> toolbars -> (uncheck) Menu Bar. The menu bar and the "Firefox" button were supposed to be mutually exclusive (which is impossible in some cases without being incompatible).
Once you are using the "Firefox" button ...
Use the "Alt" key to view the menu bar (temporarily) containing File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. On Windows 7 and Vista, the menu bar was hidden by default in Firefox 4 and above. These menu items are more or less available under the "Firefox" button which has the most used of the built-in Firefox menu items available in a different format.
To get back to having menus again. "Firefox" button -> Options (second column) -> (check) Menu Bar
You can make '''Firefox 7.0.1''' look like Firefox 3.6.*, see numbered '''items 1-10''' in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 thru 8.0, look like 3.6)]. • Should it take over 1 hour to load an update OS

Should it take over 1 hour to load an update OS on an iPad mini?

A lot can depend on your bandwidth, internet speed, etc. It can also depend on which update you are installing? Are you doing this OTA, or via iTunes. If OTA, then installation also includes expanding the download to the files needed to install. Installation via iTunes can normally not take quite as long since it isn't necessary to expand the files.
