Should object CO_PROCESS be archived?

Hi gurus,
I need to archive my whole company codes transaction data for the previous years.
Please guide me should CO_PROCESS be archived.
As per my knowledge, EC_PCA_ITM, COPA2_xxxx, CO_ITEM, CO_COPC, CO_ORDER and CO_TOTAL should be archived.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Which BUs Object should I use for archiving and linking to SalesDocuments

Hi,
I want to archive documents and link them to SalesDocuments, but I don't know which BUsiness Object I should use. Special Ones like BUS2030, BUS2031,... or the general Type VBAK. If I use VBAK I have the problem, that when I archive manually all with VBAK linked documenttypes are proposed, so that I can't control, which documents are allowed to be linked with for instance CustomerQuotation or SalesOrder.

SAP-PM: Deletion of objects possible without archiving?

Hi all!
My question concerns the objects in SAP_PM, in particular the objects represented by the ArchivingObjects PM_EQUI, PM_IFLOT, PM_IMRG, PM_QMEL, SM_QMEL, PM_ORDER, PM_PLAN, PM_MPLAN and PM_NET.
I found that it is possible to delete "IA Task Lists" via the transaction IA25 without having to archive them first.
Is this possible for other objects as well, or do we have to archive them first?

I think it should be I0811 or I1101.
You can manually archive each product at a time in COMMPR01 - Product status tab.

What format should I use to archive camcorder videos.

I've seen many different variations of my question on the forums, but nothing answering all my questions. So, here goes.
I have a minidv camcorder and I've been ripping the video to dv files using imovie hd 6. I then put together the clips that should be together and tell imovie to convert those clips into one. My question is the format. I have been using dv, but for an hour minidv tape, it's over 10 gig. I then copy these dv files to my external drive and back them up with mozy.
My question is what format "should" I be archiving them to? I plan on keeping them forever of course. And there might be a day that I go to mess with them, maybe add some effects. I'm no video editor, but I'm finding that the mac has such awesome (and easy for a beginner) tools that I actually want to mess with video.
There are so many formats, but I don't want to lose quality to save hd space. If I were to convert them to mov or mpeg4, would the quality be as good. What about size, would the size be much different?
Sorry for the large post. I'm a little lost when it comes to this stuff, but I'm trying to learn.

When should object casting be used?

just wondering something. Saw there that returning objects from methods and downcasting the returned object is bad. When should casting be used? I currently have a program that has an object that contains a HashMap as a field. When I try retrieve objects from the HashMap using the relevant key, I have to cast them to what they were originally! Is this bad programming practice or is it the only way to do things?

Before generics, this was a perfectly acceptable practice. Generally speaking, you use type-casting when the compiler is unable to ensure the type validity at compile-time, but you know it is correct, so you supply the extra information to the compiler so it knows everything is correct. Sometimes you need to circumvent the strong type-checking part of the language for flexibility, but this is something that should be used very sparingly.
Now it would be better to use generics so that the compiler will know at compile time that the values in your map are Strings, instead of just Objects.

Should object be registered to change one statement of ABAP

I am not seeing why this would be so. I have a question about correction instruction.
The note 750322 describes certain blocks of code to be deleted and changed. there is correction instrcution 663840 for object RS_BCT_UPDATE_RULES_MD_0PLANT.
When I checked my ABAP code form RS_BCT_UPDATE_RULES_MD_0PLANT on our system, I am getting some differences:
For example:
Code on my system is
E_MONITOR-MSGID = 'RS_BW_BCT_RPA_MSG'.
E_MONITOR-MSGTY = 'W'.
E_MONITOR-MSGNO = 501.
E_MONITOR-MSGV1 = i_plant.
E_MONITOR-MSGV2 = i_salesorg.
e_subrc = 4.
Code suggested from the note is
E_MONITOR-MSGTY = 'W'.
E_MONITOR-MSGNO = 501.
E_MONITOR-MSGV1 = i_plant.
E_MONITOR-MSGV2 = i_salesorg.
e_subrc = 0.
I see a difference of between the e_subrc = 0 and e-subrc = 4.
Should I apply this manually by registering the object to correct the e_subrc?

I have few questions about Archiving object:
1. How to create an archiving object for set of Z tables? shall i create a new archiving object by clicking on new entry or shall i copy an existing archiving object.
2.is there any restrictions on number of tables being used in an archiving object? in our scenario there are around 15 Z tables...
3. in T code AOBJ, i want to maintain customizing settings, but the screen is greyed out,which authorzation role will give me the access to this screen.
4.what are the retrieval methods avaialable in system???
5.in our scenario we have created a new archivie info structure,shall we use standard field catalog or need to create a new one???

SAP Archived object in MM . Cross verify and test.

Hi All,
We are on Process of Archiving data from Production, Configuration and Object done up to Quality client. We are started testing in Quality. As a functional consultant how to cross verify and check how the data like PO,PR,Material documents archived or not.
Now data archived for only May 2008. I would like to test the case with in the period, the data is properly archived or not. any difference is there??
Can you please let me know how to take care of this and do the testing for SAP archiving in MM perspective.

Hi Hare,
For SAP Data Archiving testing you have to look at mainly two things: residence period and business completion requirements. Residence period is the time the data needs to be in SAP before it's eligible to be archived (data old enough) and business completion requirements is basically checking that the object is "closed" before archiving it. For instance, you can not archive a service order that is opened or an equipment that is installed.
You should check different combinations like data old enough (for the period that you want) and not complete (should not be archived) and then data old enough and complete (should be archived).
Check the data before running the archiving jobs and see what should be / not be archived according to you, run the archiving jobs and then check the data again to see if results are expected.

I have generated a archiving objects for a ODS in development system and now i want to do the same in quality system.
Should i put the ODS in a transport request and move it to quality or should i regenerate the archiving objects for the same ODS in the quality system. Please let me know.

I need your help to understand if in Release 4,6C following archived and deleted documents should be displayed through Standard Transaction. Currently my system doesn't allow me to do that.

Purchase Requisition --> ME53N
Material Document --> MB03
With reference to this document which report should take care of archived documents? (f.i. ME2M; ME2L - show only PO still in the system)

If people need to look/work with archived data, then you need the infostructures, except you use the archive add-ons from PBS ( http://www.pbs-software.com/PBS-Startseite.1.0.html?&L=1 ) which allow you do see archive data by using the well-known SAP transactions, without the need of space-consuming SAP infostructures.
I try my best to avoid infostructures, means I archive data that is no needed for business, not needed to be looked up often. (developing infostructure or even programs to analyse data that was archived early is more expensiv than the costs of the disk space, at least in our branch)
But if an infostructure is given by SAP, then you can activate (fill it) or deactivate (delete content) within a few seconds with tiny effort. So I do it in rare cases if somebody needs to see archived data.

Archiving Object PP_BKFLUSH

We are in the process of archiving PP_BKFLUSH for our client.
1. Can anyone help me by sharing any documents on the functionalities, restrictions and dependencies of the archiving object PP_BKFLUSH (other than in help.sap)? and
2. Any document on the step by step process of archiving methodogy (live example of any archiving object)?

1. Objescts like PP_BKFLUSH will be created based on Tables.
2. Objects will be archived first and then deleted based on "Retention Period"
3.Once you archice the date you cannot retrive the data back but you can view provided you have an "archiving info structure" through t.code "SARI"

Is it necessary to run this archive object? or the object relationship is archived when the object is archived.
if we do need to archive this object, how can we sure it does not cause data lose. I tried to run this archive object it selects records which linked objects are still active!

Can you explain what you are trying to do. Are you trying to archive data from a BI object or are you trying to export data out of a BI object using open hub.

Per the online help documentation. Here it is stated which APO objects can be archived:
"Archiving in SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization (SCM-APO)
Purpose
You can archive the following data in SAP Advanced Planning and
Optimization (SAP APO):
- Master data
- Production tracking information"
What kind of master data can be archived?

Master Data for Product Interchangeability       CA_INCMD
Master Data for Location Interchangeability      CA_INCMD
This means that it is not possible to archive material master data
in APO.

In conclusion;
If you want to "clean up" your APO system, you need to delete the
