I got the laptop yesterday. But today I tested it use EVEREST.

If you use the Toshiba PC Health Monitor what does it say about the condition of your battery?

My laptop is about 4 months old and will recharge to within 1% of it's 48 watt hour capacity so if you are only getting 31 watt hours I'd be concerned and take it back to where I bought it.

IPod Mini messed up on the second day of owning it..

I really need some help.. I downloaded three of my CD's from iTunes into my iPod Mini yesterday (when I purchased it), and now today.. Whenever I want to play a song, I get strange static..ish noises and it skips through all the songs in the album until the last one, then it stops and goes to the main menu. I am very upset now because I paid $100 for this iPod Mini, and it screws up on the second day..
Is anyone else getting this problem? Anyone know how I can fix it? Please help.

Once again I never said it was the hold and center button. I said you toggle the hold switch (which is on top of the ipod mini) to the on position, then you switch it back to the off position. After that you hold down the center button and the menu button.

The select button is the center button.

Who is wrong? Neither one of us! I now see that we are both describing the method of reseting two different types of iPods, click wheel and scroll wheel.

MacBook crashed the second day of using it

So I have been a life long PC user, but I finally decided to switch to a mac, since my 4 year old Dell got rained on and hasn't been working properly.
Anyways after countless commercials about how Macs don't crash and have any problems, I decided to pick up this new aluminum macbook. I have already had multiple problems with the trackpad (discussed in other forums) and the SECOND day of use, I was listening to iTunes with the visualizer, and it crashed. The music skipped and a window popped up telling me to restart the computer immediately. As far as I can remember with my Dell, it never crashed my entire system a SINGLE time. Yea programs would crash here and there, but never anything like that.
I love the interface on this thing, but I am very disappointed in Mac so far, especially when paying over $1600 for one...

Recently I started having this problem with the Iphone5 IO7 software it says " SIM Card is not Installed" while it fixed the problem by repeated turn on and off but comes again on the second day

I am sure apple must be working on a patch or an io7 update. I keep on getting this msg while calling and phone does not receive any incoming calls when it displays a msg saying "SIM card is not installed". I would appreciate if apple try to resolve this software problem asap. Thanks

2 problems the FIRST DAY of the purchase!!!! Seems to be the worst choice.

After several months of deciding whether to go against my parent's advice, I purchased the macbook. I took it home and right away found a problem. The black plastic or whatever material it is pushes/pops in when it is supposed to be sturdy. There is no support under that specific area like there is everywhere else. I call applecare and they tell me to take it back to the store I JUST bought it from. The store says that since it isn't affecting the actual performance they can't do anything about it. What kind of crap is that. I guess they want their customers to purchase their products unsure if the prodcut will have cosmetic damage. If I wanted something like that I would have purchased my macbook on ebay. So after driving all the way out to the retail store and having nothing done I got over it.
The SECOND DAY my hinge starts squeeking very loudly. I call applecare again. They say they don't know blah blah blah go back to your store. We call the store and they are not sure if they can do anything about it.
I just want a freaking new laptop. I should not have to spend over $1500 on my macbook and have two things wrong with it right away. I want a new computer. They have some of the worst customer service I have ever dealt wtih. I went against everyones bad opinions with Macs and trusted that I was going to get a great prudoct. Now I am a very unhappy young girl. I had my hopes set on this laptop for several months and now they are crushed because Apple does not know how to deliver a decent product.
I am taking my laptop in on Friday for the so called "Genius" to take a look at it. Most likely they will just make up some lame excuses and send me home with the same poorly made laptop.
Does anyone know how to get in touch with some higher management people who can actually do something for me?

I know exactly what the "black plastic or whatever" you're talking about. I have the same problem. So....I also went back to the Apple Store I got it from and informed them. Turns out ALL of them are like that. Some of them it's a bit harder but I've actually walked around the Apple store with a rep and pushed the bezel part just beside the LCD in on all the MacBooks...and yes they all do that. The bezel part is actually supposed to come off for them to do repairs if there was a problem with your lcd. There's actually a video on youtube.com of someone taking the whole bezel off quite easily.
As for the squeaking...mine squeaks a little...nothing that I can't stand. It a very minor problem..I'm thinking it'll go away once I open and close the laptop enough times.
The reason I took my macbook back in the first place was b/c my 'num lock F5' key led doesn't turn on. It's a very minor problem...I'm debating if it's worth the hassle to go all the way back to the store and not have my macbook for two days.

Second day of "In Recovery" state

Hello,
during insert of 100 billion records my HDD gone out of free space, SSMS crashed. After restarting SSMS I saw my database in state "In Recovery". Today is the second day of the recovery. I have no backups. Data file size is about 6GB, log file
50GB (!). I have now about 30 GB of free space. I don't see anywhere recovery progress. And probably am not sure recovery is active. All settings (recovery etc.) are default settings for SQL Server Express 2012.. What can I do? I just want not to lose
my database and go to the state before this large insert.

To correct the situation and prevent its recurrence:
Backup the Transaction Log of the database
Shrink the Transaction Log as much as possible using DBCC SHRINKFILE
Ideally do this in a maintenance window
Multiple SHRINKFILE executions might be called for to substantially shrink it
Expand the Transaction Log back to its target initial size
Set the Transaction Log growth size to be in units of 1 GB
Apply the latest CUs for SQL Server 2008 or 2008 R2

To the moment it still in progress but I can not check it's status..
I see in error log file that sometimes the database starts up again (see log below). What could be a reason? Does recovery start from scratch on each "db starting up"?

Nokia N95 has failed on the first day.

Hi I have recently boight a N95 and on the second day while trying to dial a number ,the phone red button wasn't working and then the phone hanged up and restarted automatically and then kept on restarting for 13-14 times automatically with nothing on the display.When I dialled my number the phone was vibrating.Since then the phone was restarted again after 30 minutes,the phone loaded but the display light has switched off for ever.The menu is there without any light ...however the keypad lights are working.

I tried installing the trial version of Adobe Acrobat XI Pro for evaluating the product.
I installed the Adobe Download Assistant and Adobe Acrobat XI Pro. After opening the application, the second day, I get the error that the trial has expired.
Now, I cannot use the trial version nor can I go back to using the Adobe Distiller (the default plug-in for the Adobe Frame Maker application).
I need to convert my Frame Maker files to PDF as it is my daily job.
Please help!.

For two days I have been getting intermitant interference sounding like a radio program with the first day in Spanish.

I have 7.0.1 and Lion installed on a Mac book pro. The first day Spanish programing just started playing with no one at the computer. The second day the interference was in English having to quit Firefox to get it to stop.
I rebooted and cleaned the system but it has reoccurred. I have used iGoogle as my default homepage flawlessly for 2 years with this only occurring after I sign into iGoogle from the Google search page.
This machine is used for business only and not exposed elsewhere. Any thoughts before I remove and reinstall?

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the files sessionstore.js [2] and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.<br />

No incoming email second day running - is this a b...

This is now the second day I am not getting email into my account. I can however send email. Talking to customer service yesterday the problem has now been raised to beyond level 2; both assistants checked my computer settings with Go To Assist without finding anything untoward. I access my BT email through web-based servers only and do not use Outlook. I am still on the BT Yahoo Mail service for my normal email and a new sub account I have been obliged to set up. Something appears to have gone seriously wrong - whether with the migration or not is unclear.
Worse still, my wife is experiencing exactly the same problem.
What is going on?

Its being escalated to 2nd level technical support, which must be a euphemism for dumped in the trash can and forgotten about and then it will all sort itself out

What's best for the battery: recharge each day or only every second day

I can go two days on the battery of the Xperia Z1 Compact. How do I make sure the battery lasts the longest: By charging every day at about 50 percent battery, or by charging every second day at less than 10 percent battery, thus reducing the number of charge cycles the battery gets?
