Should Touch Screen Stay On During Music Play ??

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just happened to notice this morning on the drive into work that my iPod Touch screen never turned off during the entire time I was listening to music ( approx. 20 minutes ). Approximately one minute into the music the screen dimmed significently, but once it dimmed it never went completely off like my iPod 5.5 does. I have auto-brightness off ( I tired it with this setting set to on... does the same thing ). My lock-out time is set to 1 minute and my Wi-Fi can be on or off, making no difference.
I've never noticed this before, and the only thing I've changed was to install a Best Skin Ever cover ( front and back ) yesterday. I have noticed that the screen sensitivety is no longer as sensitive to the touch as it was without the BSE, especially when using Safari. I'm wondering if the skin could be causing the screen not to turn off ( if in fact that is not normal).
Is this normal?

Hmmm. I have the auto-lock set for 1 minute, and mine dims after about 30-45 seconds, then shuts off after a minute. And the music continues to play. Until you find a solution, note that you can always press the top button to turn it off, and the music will continue to play. And pressing the Home button twice will always bring up the music controls.

  • N8 - touch-screen still active during phone calls,...

I've made a few calls with my N8, and I'm finding that the touch-screen is still active when I hold the phone to my ear. I've accidentally hung up on people, or have inadvertently activated other apps. Is this something I can fix in tools?
The sound during calls is also very low (even at maximum volume), which compounds the above problem even more, as I push the phone closer to my ear.
If nothing else, the N8 should be able to function perfectly as a phone, and this is really frustrating - I never had this problem with other phones.
Also, on the 2nd use of the photo edit program, it took a long time to save the photo, and then the phone froze. Is anyone else having problems with this?

I too fact these problems i.e touch-screen still active during phone calls leading to unintended "hold" on the calls or screens navigating else where. Yes, the side lock bar helps, but then it is not very handy way for a costly model to be designed. Even the older cheaper nokia touch screen model did not have this problem. Let NOKIA people respond to it.
Yes, the sound is too low even at the maximum. Nokia support centre plead helpless.
I think we all made a big mistake in investing in this costly handset.

  • Touch screen doesnt work only while playing music.

While playing music, the touch screen does not respond. I can only change songs by locking, then double tapping the home button. The touch screen works fine for all apps and home screen. I can't change albums, songs or anything. I have not dropped the Ipod or exsposed it to water. Have no insurance on it. Thank you in advance!

    Don't play songs!
If it has never been jailbroke, the following may help.
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • Screen rotation during music play back -- very annoying!

I hate that the screen rotates when playing music. I have an arm band holster (Griffin), and when I lift my arm to use the touch screen for commands, it rotates into album shuffle mode. Very annoying!
I'm trying to do something with the device and it goes into some kind of album choosing mode -- when I'm already more than happy with the play list I've created!
Would be very nice to be able to cancel that feature.
Why only album shuffle too? Why not play list shuffle? That's how I listen.

It doesn't appear if you tap the screen/artwork while the audiobook is playing?

  • 1st generation iPod touch-screen stays black

I have a 1st generation iPod touch, but it's impossible to turn it on. I've tried pushing the home- and lock screen-button at the same time, and I've tried charging it, but the screen stays black. What else can I do?

    Try here.

  • When I use my phone my cheek bone makes the phone go on mute or cuts me off, the touch screen stays active whilst I am talking, shouldn't it not work?

Before I updated to IOS7 the touchscreen of my phone would become inactive whilst I was talking on the telephone.  Now for some reason if I am talking on the phone my face can set the phone to mute or speaker.  It is really annoying as this never used to happen.  Surely the touch screen should become inactive whilst you are speaking??

There have been some reports of cases and screen protectors interfering with the proximity sensor that is supposed to inactivate the screen while you are holding it near your face. Try removing both if you have them and you also may want to try cleaning the screen to see if that helps.

  • Screen Saver of covers during music play

Is there any way of blanking the screen when playing music through apple TV instead of having the Album cover twisting about all the time?
    Regards

You can turn off the screensaver, however you can't have a blank screen. The only thing is, if you are connected to speakers via optical, then you can turn the TV off.

  • Ipod touch 1st generation stutters during music playback

My ipod touch running 2.2.1 (5H11) which has always had updates etc kept up, has recently started stuttering during song playback. I have reset a couple of times and it plays fine for one song and starts all over again. Any thoughts?

I am continuing to have problems with getting my ipod touch restored. I am following the directions on the faq's but it seems that my touch continues to freeze up during the restoring nprocess. Itunes continues to sync, but the ipod screen remains unchanged.

  • Nano 7 screen goes off when music plays

I purchased the Nano 7 to days ago and trying to get it set up.
I can't get the screen to stay on so I can see names of artists/songs.  Once music starts, screen goes dark.  Can anyone tell me how to fix it?  Thanks

To save on battery power the Nano will dim automatically after 20 seconds of inactivity, and then the the backlight will turn off.  To light up the screen again press the Sleep/Wake button quickly, which is the On/Off button.  I've noticed on my Nano 7th gen, I can awaken the screen by pressing the Home button as well.
Also, I've noticed on my Nano that if I want to know the names of the songs/artists while the screen is dark, I can press and hold the play button on the side, and the Nano will speak the names of the song and artist to me.

  • Nokia 6233 & back light during music play

    Hi,
    the version I have is 3.7 of 15-05-06 RM-145.
    Also in the topic /discussions/board/message?board.id=phones&message.id=9453&query.id=15297#M9453
    it says:
To record a conversation whilst in a call, you need to just choose 'options' and then 'record'.
Also to use the 'voice memo recorder' press the button on the top left hand side of the phone and click 'record'
But it doesn't work on my phone. I get the Push to Talk option.

  • My speaker went off during music playing

My 5c speaker went off last night while playing music. This morning it was back on. There was a pop sound when it went off. It wasn't plugged in for charging or transfer. Just laying on nightstand. The volume was very low. Anyone else experienced this?  Do I need to exchange it?

I am having the same problem.

  • Crashes during music play

ONLY after installing Gingerbread, I can be listening to music with any music app (including the default one built-in) and the phone will randomly shut off in the middle of a song, any songs. I had a CLNR sent to me and the same thing occurred the same day. I have seen some people reporting the same issue online but not in the Verizon Community forums. Has anyone else had this issue or know what the cause is?

I'm having a very similar issue except that it's not related to my SD card, and I'm desperate to find a solution. This phone used to be like my best friend, but every since the Gingerbread "upgrade," I spend an increasing amount of time fighting the temptation to throw it in the trash. I've been waiting for the Bionic for almost a year and I'm hoping to either find an answer before then since I feel like I just can't take this for another month even if it is released in August.
My crashes aren't occasional. I've had them happen as often as 18 times per day, and always when I'm listening to audio, and it's not related to the application. It happens with the stock player, Audible, TuneIn, and Pandora. The phone just suddenly shuts down and it's often next to impossible to get it to restart. I've cleared the system cache and removed almost every app that insists on running in the background, other than Lookout and the stupid stuff Verizon doesn't let you remove.
I'd be very grateful for any help. Audio is about 70% of what I use the phone for since I listen to streaming radio all day at work. I'd be willing to do a factory reset and go through the irritation of reinstalling and reconfiguring all my apps if I could find any evidence that would resolve the problem, but all the posts I've seen from people who have tried that say it didn't make any difference

  • Screen stays lit during calls

I just got a new 3Gs and while making phone call the screen doesn't go black which causes me to hit the mute button. I do not have it in a case or have any stickers of any kind on it so I'm sure that the sensor is not being covered. Any suggestions?

Could be a faulty proximity sensor.

  • MacBook screen stays dark during boot up

When I start up my MacBook, the screen will periodically not light up. I can hear the harddrive spinning, but the screen remains dark. Any ideas?

Those times when it does that, if you hold the screen under strong light, can you see a faint image of the normal OS X desktop? That would be a clue about if the graphics is the failure point or if the LCD's backlight is acting up.
