Should USB 2.0 work on Satellite 2410-303?

I recently re-installed XP on my Satellite, and believe I have all the latest drivers installed now - including the chipset drivers from this site.
When I plug in a USB device I get a message saying that this device can perform faster, so its acting as a USB 1.1 port.
Does anyone know how I can get USB 2.0 to work? Or perhaps it is not supported by this old Satellite?

Hi
I have checked the specifications on the Toshiba website and searched a little bit using Google and it seems that this notebook isnt equipped with USB2.0. That means you can only use USB1.1 speed on this notebook.
I hope I could help you.

  • Need SD TypA Controller specification for Satellite 2410-303

    Hi,
at the moment we are working on QNX driver for SD controller. This device is integrated in my notebook - Satellite 2410-303 model.
SD controller is visible by O/S as:
Vendor ID = 1179h, Toshiba America Info Systems
Device ID = 805h, SD TypA Controller
Where can I find specification of this controller?
    Regards,
    Jacek

    Hi Jacek
As Silas already said this is a user-to-user forum and I assume you need some details which are not available in the user manual.
To be honest I doubt the ASP could help you but of course its worth a try to contact the technicians
My first idea was a usage of some hardware diagnostic programs like Everest for example Maybe such programs could help you too.
    Good luck

  • Satellite 2410-303 hangs when CPU cache level 2 was enabled

I have Satellite 2410-303 Bios version 1.40 and when i enable CPU cache level 2 the laptop dose not work and still hang.
So now I only enable CPU cache level 1 and disable cache level 2 so the laptop run slowly.

    Hi
Well, what to say, the Level 2 cache is an external CPU memory.
Possibly there is something wrong with the CPU? Who knows
Did you try to update the BIOS? Check if its possible and if the newer BIOS version is available.
Sorry but I cannot suggest any other solutions because for me it looks like an hardware problem and in such case the ASP help is needed.
    Best regards

  • Is CPU upgrade on Satellite 2410-303 possible?

My Satellite 2410-303 has Pentium 4 Mobile 1.7GHZ processor. I want to upgrade its processor to Pentium 4 Mobile 2.8GHZ. I think that it is possible because its upper models have faster processor and that is unique difference between them.
Please, help me for this question and tell me is it possible?

    Hello
You will be very lucky if someone has so good experiences with CPU upgrade on Satellite 2410 but on this forum you can find very nice comments about that. I have founded just two of them but very interesting. Check it out!

  • Satellite 2410-303 does not switch on

    Hello there,
we have a system here on the bench with the following problem:
    - system does not switch on
    - with battery inserted power LED keeps on blinking in yellow
    - connected to mains power LED keeps on blinking in yellow
    - no sound of fan or spinning HDD
    - no other LEDs come on
    Any ideas?
    Tia
    W. Pfiffer

There is no much to say. I presume blinking LED sends a code. Sorry but I am afraid there is nothing to do. Contact authorized service partner and let them check board electronic.
There is probably some problem with power supply electronic.

  • My Satellite 2410 shuts down after resuming from Stand by mode

My laptop shuts down when i resume it from stand by. I have Satellite 2410-303 windows xp Home Edition Sp-2.

    Hi,
could it be possible that you have Software installed, that doesnt support the standby function?
Often Programs like Firewalls or AntiVirus Programs are the reason.

  • Satellite 2410-413: USB2 PCMCIA card doesn't work

Good morning. It is my first time on a forum, and my English is poor.
I have tried to install a PCMCIA card with 4 USB-2 ports (hw & sw) on my Satellite 2410-413 in order to use a DTV dongle (hw & sw).
It will not work: The ports seem to be declared all right in the computer but in effect, a simple 64 MB USB-2 memory key [a Sony "micro-vault" key), will not work, and neither will the Winfast DTV dongle.
Paradoxically, both the mem key will work on any of the three USB-1 ports, and the DV dongle will light up on any USB-1 port. The PCMCIA card with 4 USB-2 ports is new. I cannot locate the origin of the problem.
Would any one help me with this question?
Thank you in aadvance for your reply. Here is (maybe ?)
Another way of formulating the question: how are USB ports managed by the system?

    Many thanks to you Mike30.
I have a couple of ideas now:
    - supplying the USB2 card with additional power (ie other power than computer), (but how?)
    - uninstalling and further, re-installing the USB2 "Truewin" PCMCIA card bus, and after that trying the "leadtek-brand" DTV sw.

  • SD card slot not working - Satellite 2410-601

    Hi,
I've had my TOSHIBA Satellite 2410-601 laptop for nearly 3 years and have never needed to use the SD slot. Now however, I would like to use it, since I've got it.
When I insert an SD card, the "flashy light" works, but I don't see the drive in My Computer.
I've tried downloading the drivers off this website and following the instructions - but to no avail.
It has to be a driver or programme problem I think.
    (help!)
    Thanks
[Edited by: admin on 11-Feb-06 20:29]

    Hi
First of all you should check the device manager if the SD slot in installed properly.
If the yellow exclamation mark occurs in the device manger in the SD area so there is something wrong. Usually the driver is missing. In this case you have to install the SD host controller driver and SD memory card driver. These drivers you will find on the Toshiba website.
If the device was installed properly and the device manager doesnt show any exclamation marks so you have to use a supported and compatible SD card.
Please check you users manual for supported SD cards.

  • Satellite P850 - right hand USB ports stopped working

I have a new Satellite P850, after a short period the two right hand usb ports stopped working, I only had a wireless mouse plugged into them at the time. Is there a reset for these ports, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, no change.
    Any one have any thoughts.

First of all, I don't think you should have done that.
The solution, either a full system recover (probably not necessary) or reinstall the drivers manually. Since they are USB 3.0 (I guess for what I googled about the P850) they use different drivers (specially if we are talking about the sleep and charge ones) so go ahead and download them from toshiba website, that should solve it...

  • Does Satellite 2410-504 support USB boot?

I own a very old Toshiba Satellite 2410-504, which came out and was bought in 2001/02.
Am curious whether anyone knows it's possible to USB boot in this?
I have USB key but can't boot from it.
Maybe it doesn't support USB 2.0 etc.
    Am not sure.

This is very old notebook model
From my experience such old notebook series did not support booting from USB flash memory stick.
Some of the series supported booting from USB FFD drive (its a drive which supported diskette. Maybe you can remember ;-) )
However, Im quite sure the BIOS would not support the booting from USB flash memory stick

  • USB stopped working on Satellite T230

    Hellow,
    I'm using Satellite T230 (Windows 7 64 bits) for about a month.
Once one of the USB ports stopped working. USB-drives are not recognized at all, a mouse - the note just makes a repeat beep. That USB port doen't see a USB drive during start up.
    Everything works with another port.
I tryed system recovery, BIOS update. Nothing helped.
I'm really upset and don't know what to do.
    Thanks for any help

    Hi Yu_1,
    > I tryed system recovery, BIOS update. Nothing helped.
System recovery means you have already reinstalled Windows from Toshiba recovery disk or HDD recovery?
If yes I think you have already tried everything what you can do and it looks like a hardware malfunction :(
So as next step contact an authorized service provider in your country and ask the guys for help. They can fix your problem. I think its mainboard issue because the USB ports are fixed on it.
If your notebook is under warranty, the repair would be for free :)

  • Cannot get USB port to work after re-installing of SP2 on Satellite Pro L20

After re-installing XP Home SP2 and downloading all the updates & Drivers from here I cannot get my USB port to work properly, if I have more than one peripheral plugged in it says "Bandwidth Exceeded".
I have a Behringer BCD2000 which is a souncard/midi controler for DJ mixing, it worked fine before i reinstalled windows, now it clicks and pops when playing tunes, also the ASIO doesn't work when I run Traktor (Dj software) and the program freezes. Any other external sound card wont work either. I've been all through the device manager no conflicts apart from an ! over Serial under hidden devices.
I'm lost, is my only option buying a PCMCIA sound card, it worked fine before so surely there is a software solution to this?
If anyone can help I'd be most appreciative.

    Hello
Try to disable USB Error Detection:
    1. Right-click My Computer and then click Properties.
    2. Select Device Manager to view the Device Manager
    3. Locate and click the Universal Serial Bus Controller entry.
    4. Double-click Universal Host Controller and then click the Advanced tab of the Universal Host Controller Properties.
    5. Put a checkmark in the box for Disable USB Error Detection. Click OK.
    6. Restart the computer to see if "Bandwidth Exceeded" message occurs again
Did you use recovery media to reinstall WXP? When someone write it worked before and now not it is really not easy to say why this happen. Try to configure notebook as before and maybe it will work again. Behringer BCD2000 is not known to me and I dont know how it works and which software must be preinstalled there.
Can you use different USB devices like external HDD, USB mouse, USB memory stick or printer?

  • Satellite C50-A-157 Sandisk USB won't work in Recovery Media Centre

I can't get Sandisk Cruzer USB to work in Recovery Media Centre. Have tried formatting but no luck.
I read on another Toshiba forum that Sandisk USBs don't work and that you have to use a different brand.
    Anyone know if that's true?
    Thanks

To be honest I dont think that all Sandisk USB flash memory stick dont work in connection with Recovery Media Creator. But of course due to some compatibility issue between the device and software, it could be possible that an USB flash memory stick would not be recognized.
I never experienced such problems with my Recovery Media Creator software.
I could create a recovery medium using two different USB sticks from two different manufacturers. One of them was a flash memory stick from SanDisk.

  • Satellite 2410: Question about different ways to use BlueTooth

    Hi,
I'm having trouble finding somewhere to purchase a bluetooth module for my Toshiba Satellite 2410 - the handbook says I can, and I know there is space on the underside of the laptop to insert it.
I just can't seem to find one to buy - does anybody know if they actually exist, as I am beginning to think not??!...or is the cheapest way to bluetooth enable the laptop to buy a USB adaptor?
If so, will a cheap one affect the download rate when using the Internet?? And what is the difference between an SD card and a USB bluetooth adaptor?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Well, with the detailed name I mean the full notebook number Satellite 2410-xxx.
However, you ask what a difference between Wireless Lan and Bluetooth.
The WLan is technology which allows you using or/and to create a LAN but without the cables.
;) The Wlan routers for example allow you to connect to the internet without the cable connection.
    Bluetooth technology:
If device like (mobile phones, printer, etc) support BT technology and you notebook uses also a BT so it's possible to connect these devices without cables. The devices should be placed in the available range.
I would recommend searching a little bit in the internet for more information about Wlan and Bluetooth

  • Satellite 2410-404: RAM Extension general Questions

There are two two memory modules(256+256) installed on my notebook Satellite 2410-404. There are two memory slots on my notebook. I want to extend the memory, but I could not find the answers to my questions though i searched in the manual, and at this website and this forum... My questions are
    1. Can I extend memory by 256 MB by exchanging the 256 Memory module by 512 MB module? What kind of memory module should i take?
    or
    2. Schould i change both memory modules simultaneously? What kind of memory module should i take?
    3. What can i do with the old memory modules?
    Thank you in advance,
    Vladimir

    > The fact is that you can upgrade the memory to max:
    > 1024MB.
    > In this case you can use max 2x512MB memory modules.
I am really confused now because
    1. in the printed manual i found the following text: "You can install 128MB or 256MB memory modules in both memory slots to extend RAM upto 512 MB"
    2. Kingston site says the same: one can extend RAM upto 512 MB
    http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configurator/modelsinfo.asp?SysID=12951&mfr=Toshiba&model=Satel lite+2410&Sys=12951-Toshiba-Satellite+2410-404&distributor=0&submit1=Finden
    3. Product details say that the RAM can be extended upto 1024MB
    http://de.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/selected_product_option.jsp?service=DE&PRODUCT_ID= 21161&DISC_MODEL=1
Whom shoud i believe? The printed manual from Toshiba? Or the Toshiba website?
