Should you put a screen protector on the iphone if the case is going to be a otterbox defender?

I am trying to figure out if I need a screen protector on my iphone 4s if I am using a Otterbox Defender. The salesman suggested I should but I know a lot of people who do not use any screen protection on other cases/shells.

I never used a screen protector while my iPhone was in the Defender case. The Otterbox case is engineered to protect your device. I'm not sure why the salesman suggested you use both. I used the Otterbox Defender case for a little over a year and my iPhone was flawless when I removed it. Hope this helps.

I wouldn't worry. Assuming you haven't hacked the phone you cannot have installed any viruses or spyware just by clicking a link in an email. Sounds like the page you accessed could not be read on the phone anyway, or it was just a dead link.

It is a static connection ... all that you need to do is cut the film to the size of the nano and then very carefully place it on the nano. The instructions for the protectors work with then nano. There should be enough space on a single protector for both sides of the nano, but be careful to avoid the area on the protector where there is any printing.
You must be careful applying the protectors to avoid getting bubbles in it... it may take several attempts. If you cut the protector accurately then it ought to be possible to align the edge (I'd do the long edge) of the protector with the nano and then very carefully glide the protector over the nano and lightly press it down.
I applied a protector to my nano before doing anything else and have avoided any scratches.

I bought both of these rugged cases and keep hearing that the actual cases can scratch the phones. Should I use a screen protector on the phone face and back as well? I assume that may not fit in the cases if I do that. Anyone have any experience with these cases?

Do you have the shield on the front and back? I read they do not fit in the Otterbox with both. I would bet one side may fit. I think if you use a thin one like the Verizon site has (PureGear Display Protectors) on the front I bet it will fit. I have the Survivor case and have not head a chance to try the shield with it. It depends on how you handle and use the phone. If you put it in a pocket or bag with loose change, keys, grit, etc, the oleophobic coating will likely scratch and sometimes the glass will scratch as well.

Don't waste the money on a screen protector. Greasy fingers are easy to clean with a dry lint-free cloth since the screen is oleophobic or resistant to oil. You might actually have a worse experience with the screen protector. The glass is almost resistant to scratching. If my iPhone experience is anything, I've throw it into my pocket with keys, and I have no scratches on the screen.
Get the sleeve. I like the Apple version, because I can prop it up on my desk, and it does protect the screen when you're not using it.

No, I thought about it and decided that a screen protector was not something I needed. The reasons:
* Key marks are generally finger oils, not physical scratches, and are therefore not permanent and can be removed using a damp cloth and gentle pressure. I have had my PowerBook for 2 years and this has held true. Various parts of my PowerBook have deteriorated far faster than the screen.
* I didn't want to have this additional thing to have to remove after opening the lid and to replace before closing the lid. To me that's annoying and complicates the experience. I love being able to get going as soon as I open the lid.
* I transport the PowerBook in such a way to avoid having other items in the bag compress the lid to the keyboard. If you carry a PowerBook in a backpack with 3 classes worth of textbooks and give the bag a hard landing on the library table with the PowerBook on the bottom, well, you might make some permanent marks that way.
* When thinking about all the things I might want/need to buy with the amount of money the screen protector would cost, I decided the screen protector was way far down on the list.
Nothing personal to those who find screen protectors useful, but that's the reasoning I arrived at. My opinion is that screen protectors are one of the many accessories that profit from unfounded consumer anxieties.

I've tried their privacy version but it 'pixellates' the screen due to the way that it's designed. Let's say, I have an Iphone 3GS and it was synced to my older pc (I know...) and it crashed and I can't retrieve my files on there. I want everything that I have on my 3Gs: photos, videos, music, notes, voice recordings, etc... Now, I recently upgraded to 4Gs. I can sync almost everything via icloud but there are files like photos, videos, other music that I cannot sync or for some weird reason it won't work over the cloud. So I want to move all of those information to my macbook pro (upgraded from pc... yes!). How do I move everything in my iphone backed up to my itunes in my mac book so that I can sync it to my new 4Gs?

You need the Apple ID and password that was originally used to set up the device. Ask the seller to give it to you. If the seller is unable or unwilling to provide the information, the Phone is probably stolen. There is nothing you can do.

When I go into iTunes with my phone synced, and then go to the info tab and Contacts, the check box for "put new contacts created on this iPhone into the group" is greyed out. How can I...ungrey it?
EDIT: Solved my own problem. For those of you who are also wondering, I first had to create multiple groups in Address Book. Then it allowed to me check the "Select Groups" box, and the "put new contacts created on this iPhone into the group" box. Problem solved!
