Shouldn't my iPod tell me when it's done charging?

When I usually see pictures it seems to indicate this but on mine it just keeps going Do not disconnect then when I dissconnect it goes to the regular screen when it's done will it tell me that it's sone? there's a little lightning bolt on the power bar.

Try:
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

I have it set on manually manage music and videos. So there is no automatic syncing going on or anything like that. Yes iTunes was open and when i plugged in my phone i could see all the music and everything on my phone, everything was working like it was supposed to, I didn't have a problem until I unplugged the phone.

    Hey lizabler!
I personally haven't experiened this specific thing myself, by I have certainly read issues like your quite a few times on the Discussions.
When your iPod resets itself in this kind of case, this happens usually because, while you're playing a video on your iPod, it's not being able to continuouly load and play that video fast enough to actually play the video at a normal speed.
This can be caused by the iPod's battery.
How charged/discharged was your iPod around the time when your iPod reset itself? Try letting your iPod's battery fully die, then let it recharge for a full 3 hours, and see if this ever happens again.
Also, if this ever happens again, have you tried resetting your iPod several times? (holding the "Menu" and middle buttons together for 10 seconds)
Sometimes your iPod resetting itself can also be caused by your iPod's memory being highly used. For example, if you have a 60 GB iPod, and you've used up 54 GB of it already, this can sometimes somehow bog up the iPod, causing it to act strangely.
If this iPod-resetting-itself behavior recurrs, and resetting the iPod several times doesn't help, try restoring your iPod to factory settings -> How to restore your iPod
I hope that info helps you.

  • Why did my ipod shut down when it was fuly charged.

my ipod shut down when it had changed all night.

I buy a new cd yesterday. I went home to go on my computer hook up my Ipod to put new music on it. I did this all before. Usually went like a piece of cake. When I did it yesterday my Ipod after I put new music on it. My Ipod went not bright out. I didn't see it was okay to disconnected. Usually I did it will be light up. My Ipod was so dark I couldn't see the okay to disconnected. Can someone help why it's acting like that?

  • When is it done chargi

    Hello everyone,
I just took home my new Creative Zen 8GB today, and I plugged it in to my computer (Vista Home Basic) via USB and put music on it etc. I upgraded the firmware as well, and I'm just wondering how to tell when it's finished charging. All it says anywhere online is between 3 and 4 hours, but with my old iPod, I found that overcharging it ruins the battery and it has a severely limited life that way. At least with the iPod, the icon on the player changed to tell you that it was finished charging... is there anything like that for the Zen, or am I stuck trying to guess when it's done?
    Matt

Well, there is quite an easy way of telling this, as the backlight keeps being turned on while the player is charged, and switches off when it is done*. And how long it takes to charge depends on the source of power. If I use a USB port to charge my player, it sometimes take like 6 hours or more, but using my AC charger will turn the batterybar fully green in about an hour. Overcharging shouldn't be a problem unless you leave the player plugged in for charge, for a few days... In other cases you can (turn on the player if needed and) check the battery bar and see if there's a plug-icon superposed on the battery-icon. In that case it's done. *When you charge your player while PC is turned off, otherwise the player will be on all the time indicating that it is "Docked" to the PC.Message Edited by de_zwaluw on 0-26-200803:30 AM

  • IPod stops synchronizing when its halfway done :(

I connect my iPod to the PC and it starts syncing with iTunes. But when the synchronization is halfway done, it stops working. Instead of showing the "synchronizing" icon, it shows the "connected" icon. If I unplug it that way, all the data goes corrupted. I formatted it several times, restored it, tried the Disk Mode, tried different computer but nothings helping. I use the very latest edition of iTunes. What should I do now? Please help.

I noticed the same problem. To tell you the truth, I am not very happy about it.
I used a 3rd Gen iPod for a few years and podcasting was working great. I was driving and it would continue between podcasts.
On my new 5th Gen iPod anything not being a playlist (podcast, videos, etc.) just takes you back to the main menu after it finishes. Not fun or safe when you are driving on a curved road and have to look and control your iPod just to look for the next podcast. It even kicks you back all the way to the main menu which is frustrating when you know another car is too close to you.
Sincerely, I thought this was just a bug and it would get fixed on the first firmware upgrade. Well... apparently not!
Anyway, I preferred the old way for obvious reasons.
The Playlist is the fix for now... but after managing my podcasts... having to take more steps for creating the playlists, etc.. is a REAL pain. Podcasts lists change almost daily in my case and having to re-create playlists all the time is no fun. What is so good about having the iPod sync my podcats and subscriptions if I have to manually manage playlists for them?

  • Ipod zaps me when plugged into ac charger

My ipod nano zaps me when i plug it in with an ac charger. (It actually hurts, not just a little zap) I've tried it with a few other ipods & mine's the only one that does it.
Does anyone know if i can get this fixed when i dont have the receipt?

I don't know about Australia, but in the US you have the option to register the iPod online when you first plug it in, so Apple has a record of your purchase that way, and they can also track the serial number and know the date it was sent out to the store, giving an "earliest possible date" for your purchase. Especially since the nano only came out last fall, you are obviously within the warranty period, so I'd contact Apple about a warranty return.

  • When is my ipod done charging?

the 30gig version, how do i know when it's done charging (via usb)? what does the screen/battery look like? thanks

there is not a fully charged screen...wen the player is done charging it will be a full green bar at the meter....or if you let it sit on the charger for awhile then look at the screen it will say charging or charged (if complete)...This is normal behavior for the iPods...
One more thing....dont really go by the meter in the corner...after watching just a little bit of video it goes down...it is really still a good charged but the meter is all at a wack so just dont even trust it...

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • How Do You Know When The Zen Touch Is Done Chargi

I searched through the forums and couldn't find anything on this topic.
I want to make sure that I don't overcharge my player, while still filling it to its enormous capacity. How will I know when it's done charging?

On my touch there is a little icon in the upper left corner of the screen showing my battery symbol with a power volt thing over it to show it is charging. This changes back and forth until the charging is done, then there is nothing on the screen at all.

    65mb is very little space.
It is likely that you were trying to sync more than would fit on the iPod.
