Show all music shows duplicates

When I turn on show all music my iphone shows duplicates of some songs. When I click the download it shows that it's downloading both and when its done it shows only one has downloaded. When I go on another phone with the same Apple id it doesn't show any duplicates when show all music is turned on. What do i do to stop the duplicates from my phone on the cloud

Sounds like some songs listed in the Purchased section are not downloaded on the iPod. To download past pruchases to the iPod see:

  • ITunes syncing all music as duplicates

I have recently had to transfer my music library from one laptop to another and this went smoothly. After everything was transfered I went through my iTunes and deleted any duplicates there may be and added all album art that went missing over the transfer, well when I decided to sync my iPad to my new laptop iTunes went through and made every song, some 2000 or so, a duplicate so when I view the song list there are two of every song I have. I thought there was a problem with my iTunes so I went through it, but everything on there is single copy and perfectly fine it is only through the sync that I have gained doubles of everything. Is there anyone that's having the same kind of problem and can help?

I have a completely untested & unconfirmed hypothesis that "something" changed in the last iOS update with the way iTunes keeps track of which items are on the device. My guess is that it has something to do with being able to identify the same track whether on the device, in your library or in the cloud. Whatever the cause I found I needed to manually delete a bunch of albums on my iPad that were showing as dupes or without artwork which didn't get resolved by syncing. Since I deleted them and resynced it has all been fine.
Add the above to the fact that you have transferred the library in a way which duplicated it and then manually deduped and the chances are that iTunes isn't housekeeping the media properly.
Try deleting all the music from the device, by syncing with a single empty playlist for example, to see if you can clean out the media. Then add back what you want.
If all else fails backup and then restore the device.

  • Music app shows duplicate playlists

The music app on my wifes iphone 4 is showing duplicates for the recently played and recently downloaded playlists. also whenever a new playlist is created it shows twice on the list. some of theses cant be deleted. this is the only device that has this issue. is there any way to get rid of them?

You might try syncing all the music off her phone (by unchecking Sync Music on the Music tab of her iTunes sync settings, then syncing), then back on (recheck Sync Music, sync).  This should rebuild the music library and playlists on her phone, hopefully removing the duplicates.

  • Still seeing songs from cloud even though the "show all music" setting is OFF

Sorry if this is a duplicate post. All the devices are rising up against me
    IPhone 5 issue
    Just to be clear:
    In Settings > Music
    "Show all music" is OFF
    "iTunes Match" is OFF
Please don't tell me to turn them off, because they are absolutely off!
I am still seeing music from my cloud in my song list ANYWAY!! Not every song from my cloud, just less than half. Music I don't want on my phone, like my daughter's music, and other random songs. What also concerns me is since it won't let me remove them, if I go into an area with no wifi, I will use data playing the songs.
Swiping right to left does not work (or the other direction, I tried for the **** of it).
How do I get the random cloud music to stop displaying? I only want what I downloaded to show and that's it. I've tried all night to figure it out and it's making me nutty. Is there some other obscure thing I am missing or is this some crazy bug?
    Thanks

SO I dont have a computer with itunes on it - which wasnt an issue with iphone4. in the process of getting a new laptop. its a moot point.
anyways, I came up with a solution to my problem (so far, so good).
Open to the iTunes store app
Scroll to the bottom of the main screen and click on your Apple ID, which gives you the option to Sign Out.
    Sign out!
    Reboot the phone
Presto - all the iCloud stowaways have disappeared from my music app.
Sharing in case anyone else has this issue

  • How do you delete songs from iphone5, that are not in your iTunes library on the computer?! I have the spot unchecked where it says show all music and I still have songs on my iPhone that I want gone, but they're not in my iTunes library...HELP

I have a iPhone 5 with the most up to date software and I have songs appearing on my phone that I've deleted prior too from iTunes on the computer. How do I remove them from my phone, I've tried the left to right swipe and that just plays the songs! :/ Can anyone help me, I'd be forever grateful if I didn't have to go back to the store! I went I today abc he unchecked the show all music and there's still songs I don't want on my iPhone! :(

The answer to the question in the title of the thread is yes, but it is not necessarily a good idea. At some point you are likely to find you need to restore your iPod for one reason or another, or it could be lost, stolen or damaged. If your songs aren't on your computer, and backed up too, then you will be less than happy.

  • I have 100  songs on i pod touch. But when i connect it to itunes it only showed 44 songs. What is actually happening and how to fix the problem so that all music in my iphone can be seen in my itunes

If they are iTunes purchased music then go to Settings>iTunes and App Store and turn off Show All.
    Next
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • IPod touch not showing all music

My ipod touch is not showing all of my music in 'songs', which I assumed showed all music on the device. I have about 7 Third Eye Blind songs on here and I can find all of them using the 'search ipod' tool, but only 2 of the songs show up in the music app. This is an example. I have about 1000 mp3's on the device but only about 300 or 400 of them seem to be visible unless i do an OS search for the individual file.
Also, the device is not showing file names correctly. I assume it looks at 'tags' or something for the info. well, this is really annoying. It should show the file name because sometimes i rename files to find them easier.

I think I at least know now why music isn't showing up. It looks like the songs not showing have id3 v1 tags in the file. I'm using mp3tag to batch convert all songs to id3 v2.3.
Nice to know i've gone all this time without hearing a large percentage of my music.
I say either develop better software for detecting ALL mp3 music or get rid of this stupid 'tag' thing altogether. I highly doubt the latter is possible, so..

  • I have pc with itunes loaded on seperate hard drive and can't find all music some from ripping in wav files won;t show but any and all i've downloaded from itunes store are there what,s up/ /?

Having trouble getting my music from seperate hard drive. Recently tried to have my new laptop see and play itunes on my wireless server, but not all music showed up, and now my music on my pc doesn't show all music either. Some wav files from ripping off cd, and some I've imported from windows media show up and all mp3 bought from store is there. But more than half is listed at bottom of library as unknown artist, unknown album etc.. WHATS UP!!!!

try backing up the adresses on a different computer.
    1) connect iphone to computer
    2) in itunes click "enable disk use"
    3) locate the files in the iphone hard drive
    4) copy and paste them on that computer
if it does wipe out your adress library, just revert to the backup. Although i don't know where the files will be on your iphone hard drive.

If you are on Version 11.0.1 rather than 11 Apple put it back in

so if you are on 11 upgrade to 11.0.1 and you will have it

  • Recently got a new computer and installed itunes from external drive - all music shows up in the library, however when i click on a song i receive this message "the song could not be used because the original file could not be found".  What do i do?

I recently got a new computer and installed itunes from which had been saved onto an external drive - all music shows up in the library, however when I click on a song I receive this message "the song "abc" could not be used because the original file could not be found".  What can I do?

I was given the option to locate the file where the song is held. If so select "locate" and direct it to the folder / file where the song is and open it. itunes then will give you the option to use this process to update all of your library. OK that as this will do it automatically instead of doing them one by one. I hope this helps.

  • Why does my iPad show music files after unsyncing all music?

I've got major issues with trying to get my iPad to sync music, but noticed that after I've unsynced ALL music, my iPad still shows 11 music files. They're not showing in my music content as playable tracks. How do I get these files off my iPad?
Background: I believe these files are an album I bought from iTunes on my iPad. But these files wouldn't copy across to my iTunes library on my PC, and I can't view my purchases in the Store without iTunes crashing. So the album seems to be trapped in the depths of my iPad somewhere.
My problems with syncing music started after this, so I am hoping that getting rid of these files will resolve my other syncing issues. If not, I'll tackle those later. First step, how do I get rid of these music files?

How Do I Get Rid Of The “Other” Data Stored On My iPad Or iPhone?
    http://tinyurl.com/85w6xwn
With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

  • Using iTunes Match, Show All Music not working for one playlist

I am using an iPhone 6 Plus with iOS 8.2. I just recently subscribed to iTunes Match and all of my music has been matched/uploaded.
When I turn on iTunes Match and Show All Music on my iPhone, all of my playlists show up but one of them is incomplete, and doesn't have an option to download the missing songs from the cloud.
So, for example, I have a playlist that on my Mac has 696 songs and they are all matched by iTunes Match, and they all appear as either already on my phone or downloadable. Most of the other playlists are the same: working as expected. But I also have a playlist that on my Mac has 58 songs and they are all matched by iTunes Match, but only nine of them appear on my phone (they were already there), and none of the remaining 49 are showing as available to download from the cloud.
Is it possible to fix this? I've had bad luck in the past deleting playlists on the phone with the goal of having them refresh during the next sync. (The bad luck involved my playlists being deleted in iTunes on my Mac after the sync.)

    Hi Michael,
thanks for this, this helped me out as I just had the same issue but on my iPad lol.
Forgot about that setting even though I knew about it, just goes to show, out of sight, out of mind.
    Regards,
    Steve

    Hello there Jameskuo47,
In researching the issue you are experiencing I found an article that should help get your iTunes Match content to your iPhone. The name of the article is iTunes: How to add a computer or iOS device to iTunes Match and you can find it here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4913.
    This section specifically:
To add an iOS device to iTunes Match
On your iOS device, go to Settings > Music.
    Note:
iTunes Match requires iOS 5.0.1 or later; you can find the
    latest iOS software here'
Tap the iTunes Match switch to On.To access your music in iCloud, open the Music Player app on your device.
Your music in iCloud will be integrated into your local music library. A download button will appear to the right of any content that you have in iCloud that doesn't already exist on your device.
    Important:
When enabling iTunes Match on your iOS device, the music library on your iOS device will be deleted and then replaced with your music in iCloud.
Syncing music with iTunes will be disabled while iTunes Match is enabled on your iOS device.
By default, when adding an iOS device to iTunes Match, downloading over a cellular network is enabled1. To disable downloading over cellular for iTunes Match, choose Settings > Music > Use Cellular Data > Off.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • My iTunes library shows all music but there is an exclamation mark to the left on all entries and there is a message stating "original file could not be found" although all music is on the iPad.

The massage means what it says. iTunes can't find the actual music files. All iTunes has is a database of where the files should be and they are not there.
    Try:
