Show all windows of application with a long click

Does anyone know if there's a setting that will allow you show all of the windows of a specific application with a long click of the application's icon in the dock? I know I could do this in Snow Leopard just by clicking the icon. In Lion I need to right click on the icon and select "Show All Windows" which is a bit annoying.
Thanks.

  • Ibooke freezes when minimizing or using expose to show all windows

    I have a bought a refurbished ibook from the mac refurb site 2 weeks ago, no other hardware, and have only installed office 2004.
    It freezes often when several windows are open and i use expose to show all windows (approx 1 time in 2), and also when i minimise a window if a few apps are open. (approx 1 time in 3 or 4)
    When frozen it just hangs & shows rotating disk & only way out is to restart using power button.
    I Have tried hardware tests & disk utility etc...
    Any other suggestions? or anyone else having a similar problem?
    Would prefer to resolve myself as opposed to sending back on guarantee as I need it daily..
    THANKS

    furthermore..
    i have spent so much time trying to sort this out over the past week that my girlfriend has given me an ultamatum;
    either the computer goes... or she goes...
    has anyone else discovered that buying an ibook has had such a dramatic effect on thier relationship? and has anyone got any suggestions how to resolve this?
    i think the computer has to go back to apple... unless someone comes up with a fast fix.......

  • Getting Spotlight "Show All" window to only show emails

    In Spotlight's "Show All" window (the same one you get when you Command-F from the Finder) there's a way to select what kind of things you want to see. However, for some reason the "Kind" list doesn't include "Mail Messages". It has "Applications", "Documents", "Folders", etc. but nothing to find emails. I notice that if I choose kind "Other" and type "Mail" in the box, I do see email messages, but it's odd that emails aren't in the list. Anybody know if it's possible to modify the set of things that shows up in the "Kind" list so I can find emails more easily?

    Weird. My "Kind" list is Any, Applications, Documents, Folders, Images, Movies, Music, PDF, Presentations, Text, Other.
    I tried enabling and disabling various kinds in the Spotlight preferences pane. Although that changed the set of results (as you'd expect) it had no effect on the set of items shown in the "Kind" list.
    Wonder what's happening here?

  • "Show All Windows" in Mission Control

    Hey everyone!
    In Snow Leopard you had this amazing feature that when you push and hold the mouse button on an active application in the dock, all the windows of that application would pop up beside each other.
    Doing so in Lion just generates a sub-menu, where you have to click the "Show All Windows" yourself.
    Is it possible to get the Snow Leopard function in Lion?
    Thanks!

    I dont use the Trackpad, just a mouse. Moments after I typed it, the answer was suggested already:
    CTRL+Mission Control button does exactly what I want.
    Is it possible to reconfigure this shortcut to the Snow Leopard way? (Pushing and holding the mouse button on an app in the dock for the same results)
    Thanks,

    More generally, Show All will only show when the Organizer isn't showing all your photos.  For example, if you click on a tag to show just the photos with that tag, the Show All button will show up.
    Alas, what I said above isn't completely true.   There are a number of situations where this rule doesn't hold:
    - When you've restricted the photos shown to a date range using Find > Set Date Range.
    - When you've restricted which media types to show using View > Media Types.
    - When you type text quickly into the search box and hit enter (on a large catalog).

  • Show All Windows through Dock

    I'm sure there is an easy answer to this...
    When I was using SL, I could click and hold on an app in the dock to bring up expose all the windows for that app alone. I can't seem to do that in Lion. I have to click and then select Show All Windows.
    Is there a way for me to open it they way I used to in SL? I do have Mission Control enabled in Lion if that's what causing my issue.

    The issue was related to Spaces.
    Machine was migrated from 10.6.8 to 10.7.5 and it looks like the Finder prefs and/or the Spaces prefs were corrupted.
    I deleted both preference files and all seems to be ok now.

    Not at this time. It would also be great to have an adjustment for sensitivity too.

  • Why does my screen show all windows when mouse moves

    When moving the mouse my display shifts to showing all open windows.  Why is this happening all of a sudden?
    Have checked Disk Warrior and restarted, but it keeps doing this!

    What should be in each spot??
    Whatever you use the most. As an example I'm right handed to I set the button on the right to Seconday Button so I can take advantage of the menus available for going back a page, reloading a page, etc., when right clicking.
    I use the left button to switch between Applications.
    It's just a matter of what works best for you

  • How to contain all windows in Application Frame cs5 MAC

    Hello,
    This is my last resort to hopefully find a solotion to my problem.
    Ive recently switched from PC to MAC, and since the switch I have had some trouble with photoshop (apparently its not the same?)
    Now please bear with mem I have trouble explaining this properly hehe
    Okay...
    When I have two photos open in cs5 in tabs, If i drag one out of the tab and then click on the photo still tabbed the one that isnt tabbed disappears! Its floating in behind photoshop over my desktop. If I minimize photoshop, I can see the file floating there?
    Is there any way to keep all files (windows) contained within the application frame itself, so they no longer "float" behind the photoshop application frame??
    I hope this makes enough sense!
    I never had trouble with windows floating outside of photoshop when I was using PC...

    Hi,
    Do you have the application frame in photoshop cs5 turned on or off?
    Window>Appliction Frame
    A check mark beside the word application frame means it's on.

  • How do I show all Groups including Groups with Zero Sums

    Post Author: mchallinor
    CA Forum: Formula
    This is such a basic question I'm annoyed that I can't work out the answer myself!The report is very basic:"Total Sales"Grouped on Weeks of the Year. Data Report Range 01-01-2006 to 31-12-2006.The Group Summary Totals appear for all weeks where there is at least 1 sale within that Week.  But if there are NO sales for a week this does not appear as a Group Summary Total. Eg:Total Sales ReportWEEK 1Group Sum Total =      £3,004WEEK 2  Group Sum Total =      £9,000WEEK 3Group Sum Total =     £1,030WEEK 5Group Sum Total =      £900Report Grand Total =  £13,934There were no sales during WEEK 4 so no Group Sum appears. I need the report to look like the following:Total Sales Report  WEEK 1
    Group Sum Total =      £3,004
    WEEK 2
    Group Sum Total =      £9,000
    WEEK 3
    Group Sum Total =     £1,030WEEK 4
    Group Sum Total =     £0
    WEEK 5
    Group Sum Total =      £900Report Grand Total =  £13,934How do I get the Group Sum to show for all groups even if the group sum is zero.Look forward to any suggestions.

    Agreed - about the best way to overcome this is to have a 'dates' table in your db which has a simple structure of one column named 'date', filled from some date in the past to xxx years in the future, incrementing by a day at a time.  Ask your DB guys to add this in - it's a simple task (SQL code underneath)
    If you then use this as your 'starting point' table (and link your sales data to it on the date), and group by dates.date (or use it in your formula for grouping), you'll get the 'empty' groups.
    SQL CODE TO CREATE A SIMPLE DATES TABLE (-5 years from today to +5 years from today):
    create table crystal_dates (mydate datetime)
    declare @start datetimedeclare @end datetimedeclare @now datetimeset @start = dateadd(yy,-5,CONVERT(DATETIME,FLOOR(CONVERT(FLOAT, getdate()))))set @end = dateadd(yy,5,@start)set @now = @start
    while @now <=@endbegininsert into crystal_dates values (@now)set @now = dateadd(dd,1,@now)end

  • Detecting an application with a long running script.

    Hi
      I use a PowerShell script to detect an application (Lync in this case). It uses WMI query for a GUID. That's pretty much the same as the MSI code detection method, however, I need to check if an application doesn't exist. In this example, I check
    that Lync 2010 is not installed, but Lync 2013 is. There is the script:
    $OutVar = 0 # No errors
    $Lync2010 = $null
    $Lync2010 = Get-WmiObject -Query "SELECT * FROM win32_product WHERE IdentifyingNumber = '{81BE0B17-563B-45D4-B198-5721E6C665CD}'"
    if ($Lync2010 -ne $null) { $OutVar = 1 } # Error, Lync 2010 is still installed
    $Lync2013 = $null
    $Lync2013 = Get-WmiObject -Query "SELECT * FROM win32_product WHERE IdentifyingNumber = '{90150000-012C-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}'"
    if ($Lync2013 -eq $null) { $OutVar = 1 } # Error, Lync 2013 is not installed
    # Generate proper output according to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg682159.aspx
    if ($OutVar -eq 0) { Write-Output "The package has been deployed successfully." }
    Exit 0
      It works with no issues (oh, it's really simple), but takes some time as WMI query is slow. As the result, with at least a half of deployments I have a "time out" error as below:
    Performing detection of app deployment type Microsoft Lync 2013 x86(ScopeId_99D07E7B-2227-4C04-ABC5-23BAFB0EED80/DeploymentType_f1f948fa-497f-4f74-91a3-abbb974cf7ea, revision 18) for system. AppDiscovery 22/08/2014 12:42:41 p.m. 4908 (0x132C)

      I tried to find how to increase the timeout, but with no success. Yes, I can check the registry directly which is much faster, but WMI queries are powerful and an easy to use tool, so I'd rather make them work than use a complicated workaround.
      Is there a way to increase the timeout?
    Cheers
    Max
