Show All Windows through Dock

I'm sure there is an easy answer to this...
When I was using SL, I could click and hold on an app in the dock to bring up expose all the windows for that app alone. I can't seem to do that in Lion. I have to click and then select Show All Windows.
Is there a way for me to open it they way I used to in SL? I do have Mission Control enabled in Lion if that's what causing my issue.

The issue was related to Spaces.
Machine was migrated from 10.6.8 to 10.7.5 and it looks like the Finder prefs and/or the Spaces prefs were corrupted.
I deleted both preference files and all seems to be ok now.

  • "Show All Windows" in Mission Control

    Hey everyone!
In Snow Leopard you had this amazing feature that when you push and hold the mouse button on an active application in the dock, all the windows of that application would pop up beside each other.
Doing so in Lion just generates a sub-menu, where you have to click the "Show All Windows" yourself.
Is it possible to get the Snow Leopard function in Lion?
    Thanks!

I dont use the Trackpad, just a mouse. Moments after I typed it, the answer was suggested already:
CTRL+Mission Control button does exactly what I want.
Is it possible to reconfigure this shortcut to the Snow Leopard way? (Pushing and holding the mouse button on an app in the dock for the same results)
    Thanks,

  • Show all windows of application with a long click

Does anyone know if there's a setting that will allow you show all of the windows of a specific application with a long click of the application's icon in the dock? I know I could do this in Snow Leopard just by clicking the icon. In Lion I need to right click on the icon and select "Show All Windows" which is a bit annoying.
    Thanks.

  • IPhoto will not load the iPhoto library.  When I select "show all windows" the library does appear but cannot open it.  I am on version 8.1.2 and using Maverick.

I was able to get it fixed. I had received some responses and they had me
recreate the library I believe.  It's been a while so I cant remember
exactly what I did. I have since upgraded to the latest i photo version and
have had no problems with it.

where is the F9 expose function in Lion that shows all windows open?

    Hello.
What you’ve used and loved as Expose and Spaces is now called “Mission Control”.

  • Ibooke freezes when minimizing or using expose to show all windows

I have a bought a refurbished ibook from the mac refurb site 2 weeks ago, no other hardware, and have only installed office 2004.
It freezes often when several windows are open and i use expose to show all windows (approx 1 time in 2), and also when i minimise a window if a few apps are open. (approx 1 time in 3 or 4)
When frozen it just hangs & shows rotating disk & only way out is to restart using power button.
I Have tried hardware tests & disk utility etc...
Any other suggestions? or anyone else having a similar problem?
Would prefer to resolve myself as opposed to sending back on guarantee as I need it daily..
    THANKS

    furthermore..
    i have spent so much time trying to sort this out over the past week that my girlfriend has given me an ultamatum;
either the computer goes... or she goes...
has anyone else discovered that buying an ibook has had such a dramatic effect on thier relationship? and has anyone got any suggestions how to resolve this?
i think the computer has to go back to apple... unless someone comes up with a fast fix.......

  • Getting Spotlight "Show All" window to only show emails

In Spotlight's "Show All" window (the same one you get when you Command-F from the Finder) there's a way to select what kind of things you want to see. However, for some reason the "Kind" list doesn't include "Mail Messages". It has "Applications", "Documents", "Folders", etc. but nothing to find emails. I notice that if I choose kind "Other" and type "Mail" in the box, I do see email messages, but it's odd that emails aren't in the list. Anybody know if it's possible to modify the set of things that shows up in the "Kind" list so I can find emails more easily?

Weird. My "Kind" list is Any, Applications, Documents, Folders, Images, Movies, Music, PDF, Presentations, Text, Other.
I tried enabling and disabling various kinds in the Spotlight preferences pane. Although that changed the set of results (as you'd expect) it had no effect on the set of items shown in the "Kind" list.
    Wonder what's happening here?

  • Why does my screen show all windows when mouse moves

When moving the mouse my display shifts to showing all open windows.  Why is this happening all of a sudden?
Have checked Disk Warrior and restarted, but it keeps doing this!

What should be in each spot??
Whatever you use the most. As an example I'm right handed to I set the button on the right to Seconday Button so I can take advantage of the menus available for going back a page, reloading a page, etc., when right clicking.
I use the left button to switch between Applications.
It's just a matter of what works best for you

  • Exposé show all windows of all spaces.

    Hello Folks,
Is there a way to make Exposé show all my windows from all application from all my spaces. And I mean using the "All Windows" feature, not the "Application Windows".
This is really the only thing I miss in OSX. (I'm a new user)
    Thanks in advanced!

  • Mission Control (Mac OS 10.7.2) does not show all windows

I would like to see all windows. both those that are minimized and those that are not minimized
Mission Control seems not to show the minimized windows

  • Show ALL open windows in dock?

I'm a recent convert from Windows to Mac and one of the things that's completely driving me nutts is that I work with many windows open all day long, constantly switching back and forth and in Windows this was simple, EVERY window I had running had a space / button (whatever) in the taskbar, so when I switched back and forth all I had to do was a simple click on the window space in the task bar and poof, I was back in that window.
In OSX I'm finding this is not the case and it's driving me BONKERS!
I'm now having to constantly minimize the windows I'm in, or do the mission control thing, to get back to a window...just a pain in the butt when I need to switch back and forth constantly all day long.
Is there anyway to set OSX to behave the same way windows does in this manner?
I know it shows the APPLICATION in the dock, but it doesn't seem to show all windows for a given application...?
    Thanks in advance!

Actually, ultimately this is not a solution for me. Been doing it since you recommended it but here's the problem.
I usually work with 3-4 browser windows open, often 1-2 of those are "pop-ups" from other browser windows (for databases I work in), then Outlook (2011 Mac version). When working with emails I'm usually pulling information from browsers and copying/pasting into emails, or links, or something...some sort of information (I use the clipboard CONSTANTLY) and in Windows, a single click on the button for the window I want back into focus and I'm there. In OSX, hold option, click, hold, mouse up to selection click again...
See the difference? Quick single one handed click and I'm done in Windows, in OSX it's 5 steps with two hands...
Not nearly as easy/fluid...there's got to be a way, or a third party app or something to do this?

  • How do you show all open windows in all applications?

Previous to Lion, I used to be able to go to a hot corner and all of the open windows in all applications would appear neatly side by side. Now I get stacks of windows grouped by application. How can I go back to the old way where every window was visible? This is helpful in Photoshop when I need to see all of the images I am working on and all of the images on my website in Safari.

You don't have a hot-corner for that anymore.
You use a gesture for that now. You can either 4-finger swipe down, or place the tips of your fingers in the center of your track pad.  Your fingers should be bunched up and touching each other.  To show all windows, expand your fingers, as if you were showing someone "5" on your fingers.

  • What is the default key command for the COMMAND key?I seem to have changed it somehow along the way and now when I push the command key it hides all windows or shows desk top I need to correct this as soon as possible-.any ideas?

What is the default key command for THE COMMAND (apple) key? I seem to have changed it somehow along the way and now when I push the command key (only) it hides all open windows and shows the desk top and when I push it again it shows all windows again...I need to return to default A.S.A.P. just this one key...Any ideas? Thanks in advance...

    Go to
     > System Preferences > Keyboard
Click on the 'Keyboard' tab and hit the 'modifier keys...' button. You can see and change the defaults there.
As I'm not sure if all the labels are the same in Lion, he's a screenshot from Snow Leopard. It should be similar enough:

  • How to set preference to "show all" open windows in all open applications (until I quit)

how do I set preferences to "show all" windows in all open applications (until I quit the application) ?

Can you explain more what the problem is and what you want to see.
All windows are shown by default, unless you minimize them, so I'm confused at what you are asking.

  • Opening all windows from minimise in Lion, instead of 1

Hello,  I have multiple windows open in Textedit and Chrome, in Lion.  I minimise them. Then when I click on the 'textedit' or 'chrome' icon in the dock at the bottom, instead of all of them opening like they used to, only one does.  To see the other windows I either right click on the icon, and it gives me a list,  or I click on 'show all windows' but that only lets me select one.
Is there any way, of opening/displaying all the minimised windows at once, by clicking on the dock icon below?

what you want to do instead is Hide the app.
try this, right click chrome and hit, hid. this will be the same as if you minimized, and will unhide ALL the windows when you choose to.
This works and is better then minimizing all the windows that are open.
