- From the AAI interface, provide the "Show Info" screen (For the DMM & SnS)

- From the SnS Web Admin, provide the "Administration-->Setup-->Show and Share" screen

No. The page errors out. I tried http://server:8443/ & http://server:8080/ both error out.
What Browser Application & Version are you using when the error occurs?
Safari 4.0.5 & MacOS 10.6.3 & Flash 10.1
For some reason I cannot get past the flash applet with Firefox 3.6.3 on MacOS 10.6.3. I upgraded to Flash 10.1 hoping to remedy that, but it didn't matter.
An addiitional note: I can upload a video just fine.

Hello Everyone
Regarding to Cisco show and share , I have a question regarding to the URL which will be accessed by Cisco Show and Share users , is this URL same as the URL which is used for Administration?. I have two Show and share on for internal and other for External users , each one have URL. MY question regarding to end users access after i will pubblesh videos , they will access the same URL which is used to access administration page?. Your help is so highly apperciated for me.

i am not quite sure that i have understood your question but most probably is related with the following:
1) the SNS url either for end users or even for the admin is the same. For example, the "sns.video.com" url will be used both from admins and end users. Though, the admin, has some more privileges against end users and thus can access more pages on the same URL.
2)as for the internal and external sns servers, i believe that you have to deploy your videos twice if you want to have the same videos on both servers.

2- I have already nat the internal IP of DMM to public ip and create public record for the public ip
10.20.20.3 to X.X.X.X & test.bnp.med.ca .
3- when i tried to type vod.bnp.med.ca , i got the page cannot displayed , any advise .

The YouTube videos are typically Flash content.
The key here is that you need to download the Flash content
yourself and then Upload to the Show and Share.
Use the DIRECT URL of the Flash Content on YouTube to download
the FLV to you Personal device. After file successfully download, simply
upload the file to Show and Share.

Show and Share Connection to video server failed

I have an SNS server running version 5.2.3. Everything time I try to play a video I get an error stating Connection to video server failed. I am storing videos locally on the SNS server. I can't figure out why I am getting the error.

1- Yes this is could be from license issue.Can you check the license for your Cisco SNS?.
2- Can you also restart services of Cisco show and share "streaming server" from Cisco DMM as attached.
3-Can you check the pairing is ok.
4-Did you have MXE integration , after uploading the video , what is the status of job "completed or failes".
Note:I got same problem before when i changed my FQDN from name to other but i fixed .

No Thumbnails In Show and Share

I am running Cisco Show and Share 5.3 with a Wowza media server and am able to play videos fine, but the thumbnails are not showing up. I can see the thumbnails in the draft but when I publish the video the thumbnails are not displayed. I don't get any errors when I publish the video.

Normally thumbnails are stored in the default hosting location (*.*). If this points to the Wowza server make sure the virtural directory pointed to in SnS is setup properly. This is created on the Wowza server. This is done by going to Start/Administrative Tools/Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager. Click on the plus sign next to the server name and in front of Sites and right click on Default Web Sites to Add Virtual Directory. Name your virtual directory and use that name in the URL in the default hosting location. When you define the virtual directory point the directory to the file location defind in the default hosting location. You should see the thumbnails in this directory on the Wowza server.

Show and Share edit video and previews?

Hi I am trying to add previews to all my published videos all the videos I have so far are .wmv and I realized SnS does not allow me to modify anything. But when I try to modify a video recorded from my webcam (.flv) it does allow modifactions and previws eventhough I can't the watch the published video recorded from webcam.
Do these issues have to do with the fact that I have wmv and also flv files? If so, why I can't do to a wmv what I am allowed to do on a flv?

Hello,
You can only edit .flv or .mp4 files within the Show & Share interface.
The .wmv (windows media) files need to be edited or previewed externally.
Make sure that your streaming server is running for the Show and Share.
You can check this in the SERVICES tab of the Admin Module of the DMM.
The Streaming server must be running to enable the editing feature for the
Flash & mpeg4 files.

Show and Share Automatically Assign Permissions

I have been looking and cannot find a whole lot on SnS permissions. Our DMS is version 5.3.11 and we are using embedded authentication. We have a setup so when a user connects to the TCS(5.3) to record a video it then automatically sends it to our MXE3500(3.3.2.0) then from there it automatically distributes it to our Show and Share and assigns it a category based on what address was dialed.
What we want to do is have group and or user permissions assigned to the categories so only those users can see the videos. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Integration with Active Directory :Cisco Digital Media Manager 5.3 provides integration with Microsoft Active Directory
via the LDAP protocol to import both names and groups from Active Directory. Cisco Digital Media Manager and Show and Share users are then authenticated against MS Active Directory during the login process. By categorizing the uses into different user group within DMM, administrator can control and manage the content viewing permission within Show and Share by associating the user group to the video during the publishing stage. There are three Authentication Mechanism available: ‘Embedded Authentication’, ‘LDAP Authentication’ and ‘Federation Authentication’ .Currently, Microsofts Active Directory is the only LDAP service that is supported. Show and Share "Record a video" change bit rate?

In Show and Share's user guide it states that when using the "Record a video" in SnS it defaults to 400bit rate at 320x240. Is there a way to change this?

Presenter View During Live Events In Show and Share

Hi,
I am a bit confused about the user authorisation during live events of Show and Share. There is a user who is creating the event and publishing it. I think this user should be the moderator. He can see the questions tab and check the questions coming from the other participants and send them to the presenter view tab.
I have found some information about the moderator and presenter in the user guide for show and share but I could not find out which user can be a presenter, or are the presenter and the moderator the same user or not.
Below is from user guide:
The live event moderator pre-screens these incoming questions and comments as they arrive. Moderators can:
• Move any high-priority questions to the Presenter’s View tab. • Move any low-priority questions to the Removed Questions tab, either manually or automatically by keyword. • Use keyword filters to see and manage only the messages that match those keywords.
. The presenter then responds to any number of these pre-screened questions and comments. (These are messages that the moderator moved to the Presenter’s View tab.)
From the above information, it seems that there are seperate presenter and moderator, but is there a way to assign a user other than moderator only the presenter rights?

Great question, Ken! I too would like to know if there is a way to transfer video content management to an other author. In the case that a user publishes content and later leaves the company, retaining control of the published material is a requirement.

SNS Show and Share Thumbnails

Show and Share Thumbnails do not display properly.
I created a new DNS entry name (utube.domain.com) in our DNS pointing to the same IP address of the Show and Share server.
Using the new DNS name in the URL, web page display broken thumbnails (everything else works fine including clicking on thumbnail).

If I use the original servername in the URL, thumbnails display properly.

We want to use a new name so users can easily remember the SNS site, instead of the actual server name (which follows the enterprise standard naming convention, which we all know, often are long and not easy to remember).
Someone said to me the only way to do this is to rename the SNS server's hostname to the new name we want to use.

Just Locally for now. We are in the early stages of testing. I resolved it by following what tac said - by changing the hostname of the server and then clicking on verify button again beside the Publish Locally check box.

Uploading YouTube videos/urls into Cisco Show and Share

We've just purchased the DMM 5.2 and the Show and Share appliance to host internal company videos but there are some YouTube videos out there that we want to pull into our Show and Share system as well. How can we do this? I've tried every possible combination of youtube url and embedded url that is out there, at least nothing that I've tried has worked thus far. I'm able to pull in other internal URLs of different videos (wmv format) without any trouble. Is this an issue with YouTube or perhaps with flv formatted video that YouTube uses (which should work according to the manual).
I know this is a new product, but is there anyone that can help?

Can't set File Hosting Locations on Show and Share

Hi,
I'm currently using Show and Share 5.2. I have it peered with the DMM and everything for the most part seems to be working fine. The problem that I'm having is that I can't seem to set and save the File Hosting Locations. I set it to store locally and it shows a valid password, but it will not save the setings. I've tried this in multiple browser: the latest firefox and IE. Any ideas?

Are you using the Actual Appliances or are you testing with VMware images?
Please gather and upload the following screenshots:
* Go to the AAI interfaces for BOTH the DMM & the SnS. Please provide a screen capture
of the Pairing status screens for each appliance.
* Go to the DMM --> Admin Module and get a screenshot of the services for the DMM & the SnS.
Is there any error when trying to save settings? Please provide the screen shot
of that..

Does Show and Share have any integration with Microsoft Share Point? Customer is asking, I don't see anything.

How to get cisco show and share

Hi,
I have a DMM with version 5.2 and saw that on my licesing I have show and share. But how do I install show and share? Can I install it on DMM server?Do I need to install it in another server? Where can I download it? I think the show and share installation is called SS-5.2.0.20.iso, but I do not found it on cisco support download section.

Show and Share(SnS) is an Appliance just like your Digital Media Manager (DMM).
You have to purchase the Appliance from Cisco or a Cisco Partner. Then you have
to purchase use licenses for Authors etc... The Appliance software is not separate
from the hardware and is not downloadable.
Please contact your Cisco Sales Rep or Account for further explanation and they
can assist you with your companies needs.
