"Show" and "Sort Show" fields still there?

Hi Forum,
Been reading all the other user issues with the changes to metadata structure in iTunes 12. But here's something.
I used "Show" and "Sort Show" to tag certain info in my music collection.  I used "Show" to tag whether I had listened and rated a song - if so, I tagged it as "Eval" meaning evaluated. This way, I could make a quick Smart Playlist to see all the music I haven't evaluated yet. Not essential, and I was ready to shrug and say "oh well, it's gone" but it's actually still there somehow.
My existing Smart Playlists still find the metadata on each song. I go to my "un evaluated" smart playlist and it's still full of the same songs. And in the columns, you can see "Eval" or not under "Show." The problem is that I cannot access the field anymore to make changes.
Ay ideas?
PS - I have no idea how the new iTunes was installed, I don't ever remember saying to install it and I always click "no" when it prompts me to because it always screws up my database....

I'm having exactly the same frustration -- on both counts.  iTunes 12 is really dumb, and it was installed by what seems like stealth.  And you can't go back -- iTunes 12 is "an essential part of the system and can't be modified or deleted".
Another thread pointed out this fix, which naturally is completely undocumented:  Select a song, hold down the Alt key, then right-click on the song and select Get Info.  You will see the traditional iTunes editing window, with the Show tag field.  Voila!
Doug's AppleScripts has come up with a window to edit all fields for multiple items -- available at http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=multiitemedit.  It's not free, but it's pretty close to it. I'm not connected with them, but they do a pretty good job.

    How do I uninstall SyncMate Server, Activity Monitor shows it still there after appzapper uninstall of SyncMate app? Killing in AM proceeds with a SyncMate Server startup again??
    Mavricks, MacbookPro, typical config of everything and standard business user, no heavy graphics, animation or media editing. MS Office, web apps, etc.
    I have the same issue with Logmein, which I installed a trial, uninstalled with appzapper, which I thought does a good job of untangling the components of apps but for these 2 it doesn't.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thx,

    Usually applications like these have their own uninstallers, either build into the installer ( ! ) itself or as a separate uninstaller app. Check the site of the software provider for instructions.

    Oh I've found it meanwhile! The is a 2nd post! So never mind this one! I think lawyerhusain understood he has to let Apple know, if he wants them to know and the technical thing will continue with the 2nd post!

    How can I get my iPhone 4 to update my updates from my app store of it keeps telling me error 3150 or it tell me to refresh the page after updates and the updates are still there asking me to update them again?

    Make sure iTunes on the computer is logged into the account on the phone.
    Plug the iPhone in.
    In the popup window warning about wiping your phone, hit cancel.
    In the left pane of iTunes, the phone icon should be there.
    Right click on it, select transfer purchases.
    Note: this will only transfer music bought from iTunes. Not mp3's from amazon or ripped from CD's.

  • My 2008 Macbook only charges when it's sleeping. When it's awake, the MagSafe adapter blinks green on and off. I've cleaned the connectors and the problem is still there.

    This is a recent problem, only since I updated the last security update from apple has this been happening. No matter where I plug the laptop in (as in, no matter the power source), the magsafe adapter glows green like it's going to charge, that lasts roughly a second and my mac behaves as if it's going to charge (different status bar indicator and brightness jumps).. aaand then the green light shuts off completely, mac brightness & status indicators go back to normal.  Then the light comes back on, then shuts off, rinse, repeat.  When I put the mac to sleep or shut it down completely, then plug the magsafe in, it works and charges just fine. But then the second I wake the mac up, the orange charge light shuts off and it goes into the green light loop again.  Weird issue, just putting it out there to see if anyone's had that happen before and can offer tips. I've tried resetting the SMC and removing the battery when it's shut down, btw. Halp!

    Hello brixton81,
    Thank you for providing so much information about what you are experiencing with your MagSafe adapter.  I recommend reviewing the article below to troubleshoot this issue.  You have already gone through some great troubleshooting steps, some of which are in the article, and you can skip those since you have already taken them:

  • IPod will lose all data in iTunes, I unplug and it is all still there.....

    but now I can't add anything.
    I try to add a video, it will stop halfway and then the computer says my iPod is corrupt and that it needs to be restored.....I unplug it and everything is fine but now I can't add anything onto the iPod and I'm tired of it having to be restored every 3 days or so.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Using iTunes, you can only sync an iPod to one computer at a time.  So, if that iPod is currently synced to one computer, you can only sync it to a second computer if iTunes erases the iPod and replaces its current content with the iTunes library of that second computer.  The exception to this rule are songs purchased from the iTunes Store. If the same user is logged into iTunes (on the second computer), it will ask if it should transfer those purchased songs from the iPod to the new computer.
    Apple no doubt designed it this way to satisfy the music industry, so that iPods could not (easily) be used to "pirate" songs from one computer to another.  Imagine the music industry fearing an iPod owner could pass around his iPod to his friends, and have them "sync" all of his music to their computers, and his friends doing the same for their friends, and so on and so on...
    If you have access to both computers, you can set the iPod to enable disk use, to act as an external hard drive. Instead of syncing with iTunes, manually copy the music files to the iPod.  Then, copy them to the new computer and add them to that computer's music library.  THEN, sync the iPod with all of your songs present on the second computer.  You can do the transfer with a USB flash drive or regular external drive, instead of using the iPod as a hard drive.
    Also, there are third-party utilities that can transfer song files from iPod to computer.  But you'll have to do the Google search yourself.

    Hi,
    I've got a similar problem and I hope you can help me.
    Macbook Pro 15" mid. 2010 (recently updated to os x Mountain Lion) restarts on its own "because of a problem".
    It's been a major issue in the last months, causing big troubles and preventing me from working, as it happens quite often in the same day.
    [Note: it's being doing that with Snow Leopard too, before the update!]
    Here's what I already tried:
    1. upgraded the RAM memory to 8 Gb;
    2. formatted the system;
    3. migrated the older data from Time Machine.
    This didn't cause the problem to stop. So I thought it may have been a software problem and:
    1. formatted again;
    2. didn't migrate data using Time Machine, but copied just the few files I needed most from another backup;
    3. installed some programs (Office, Adobe CS5 suite, AutoCAD 2013), but this time from another source.
    The problem persists.
    Does anyone know if it is a hardware problem? How can I fix it?
    Thank you in advance,
    g

  • After importing all of my photos from camera roll, i tried to delete them on my phone and they are all still there

    I unchecked sync under the photos in itunes, i deleted them all using image capture...I turned the phone off and on....what the heck??

    Unchecking sync photos in iTunes will only delete photos synced from your computer to your phone, not the photos taken on your phone in Camera Roll.  To delete these, open Photos>Camera Roll, tap the arrow button on the top right, tap the photos you want to delete, then tap Delete at the bottom.

  • I tried to download IOS 7 but my pc said failed to install and now my ipod 5g gives a message to plug into itunes. I have pluged in but it wont recognize my ipod and the message is still there

    please help

    Apple's servers are slammed right now with iOS 7 downloads AND activation requests.
    Be patient and try again later.

  • Have been using Firefox for years, but downloaded BearShare and now it has taken over the browser. Deleted it but still have it on start page. Tried downloading firefox again and again but its still there. Cannot access my bookmarks or anything else on

    Cannot delete BearShare tool bar from top of Mozilla browser.

    Hello Joe.
    If BearShare is an extension, you can go into ''Tools > Add-ons > Extensions'' to disable or uninstall it.
    If it's a plugin, go into ''Tools > Add-ons > Plugins'', where you can disable it. To uninstall it completely, you need to contact its author for support, as it's done outside the browser. In case it's a plugin.
    I hope this helps.

  • Cut paste wed address still there after logging out and then logging back in. clearing history does not delete it

    After I highlight, copy and paste info into search box look at what I want, after leaving firefox and after manually deleting history and leaving firefox with setting to delete history upon leaving, when I re-enter firefox with cursor in search box right click and old info is still there. I also made sure to clear search history.Doesn't matter what website yahoo google, google maps, put cursor in search box right click and it's still there.
    Thanks.

    It is possible that there is a problem with the formhistory.sqlite file that stores the "Saved Form" data.
    Try to rename or delete formhistory.sqlite and other possible formhistory.* files like formhistory.sqlite-journal and formhistory.sqlite-corrupt in the Firefox profile folder.
    You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:
    *Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

  • Songs on ipod randomly disappear but itunes thinks they are still there on ipod

    my ipod recently randomly deleted all my songs on my ipod except for an ep i bought directly from my ipod. I had not synced it in a while so that has nothing to do with it. when i did sync it to try and retrieve all my songs, my itunes still acts as though nothing happened and all my songs are there. i tried turning off and on my ipod and no one seems to have had this happen to them so i dont know what to do. all my apps work and none of my photos got wiped though.

    Does your iPod touch show the shows as still there if you check Settings > General > About? Does that match the number of songs synced from iTunes?
    You can always search Spotlight on the iPod too, to see if its still on there somewhere.
    If you think there is a problem with the software on the iPod touch, try restoring it.
