"Show Grid" in a GridBagLayout
I'm trying to show the grid for a GridBagLayout in a the Java Visual Editor for Swing,
but I don't find any "Show Grid" option in the popup menu, as it's mentioned in the JDev help.
I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.3.
Thanks in advance.
Same here. Even in "Design" menu items "Show Grid" and "Hide Grid" is disabled.

How can I get grid to shown in GridBagLayout?? Design --> Show Grid is invalid option. I have more than 100 panels, so I do not wan´t to redesign them all to some other layout model.
Thanks!Hi,
if there used to be a Grid and it isn't then this should be filed as a bug

The Grid tool (View > Show Grid) is a huge help when designing. Unfortunately, by default AI allows us to specify only square grids, i.e. you set one parameter for gridline spacing (and one for its subdivisions) and AI creates square grid applying your value for both: horizontal and vertical directions. But what if we need something more, for example 16:9 proportion grid (subdivided into 4 parts in horizontal direction and 3 in vertical)? Hmm…. actually… we can do this! We can even set different colors for the main and subdivision lines:

Maybe someone will find it useful.

Pawel KucFound something on this! The rectangular grid with different vertical and horizontal subdivision values can be set!!! We can even set different colors for the main and subdivision lines. I've tested this under Mac (CS6 and CC) and Windows x86 and x64 (CS6, CC). I've posted a short articale on this:

Show Grid...Grayed Out
Am using GoLive CS2 with XP
Have only used GoLive on a site that was created for me, and it had grid lines that I thought made life easier for me.
As a first timer trying to create my own site, have been unable to get get grid lines displayed on any page. They're always grayed out.
Yes, I've looked through help and this sites forums to no avail.
I know it must be something very basic that I'm missing, and would appreciate a bit of help in the right direction.
Thanks
MarkI've got the Inspector displayed and understand its context changing roles.
You say to "select the grid," and that's where we're parting ways because I'm looking at a newly created blank html page and don't see a grid to select! Or any thing that says Grid...and I've looked all over.
I opened a website that was created for me with GoLive/MAC, and it has a grid and the Inspector displays/acts as you've noted with the grid selected. I do notice, however, that even with that page displayed, "Show Grid" on the upper View menu is still grayed out.
Might there be some default preference set somewhere that's getting in the way? Or I should be creating a different kind of page?
Thanks

Showing grid lines as dashed lines
Dear All,
i am using a waveform chart to plot my data .. i want to insert grid inside my chart .
There are 3 different options for inserting grids in d chart .
is dere any way i can change the style of lines of grids ?? i want to see them as dashed lines rather than a continous line ...
Thanks
RiteshHi,
the solution to it was a bit complicated .. i had to search for examples to get my data on the wavefrom graph...
thing is like dis. i have to store the data of different channels on different clusters and join the clustes using Build Array ...
Now dat i am able to show the data on graph(atleast) its not showing it continously .. the graph is plotting all d data at the starting point, i.e 0 and not moving forward ..
I am posting the Block Diagram as well as the Output that i am getting ..
Regarding Block Diargram - I am reading a text file containing the waveform data.. it has N number of rows.. each row has 4 columns containing data of 4 different channels .
i read the file "line by line" and store the data in 4 diff arrays(b,c,d,e). then i cluster these 4 arrays separately and build array using dese 4 clusters .. and d output of the array is plotted on the graph den..
Pl. have a look at it and see if dere's any solution to it ..
Thanks

Hide / show grid in a graph programmaticly
I would like to hide / show the grid (minor / major) progammaticly. I try to create a property node, but I don't find the way to access the 'hide' property... Thanks.
I might need corrected, but I don't believe you can change the 'minor' grid color, but yes on the 'major'.
Its a Write-to property node called Grid colors, and you can have the X & Y grids as separate or Clustered together elements. You'll need to add 2 color boxes [Controls > Numeric palette] to your front panel (X & Y). The user's selection is a numeric value sent to the property node(s) you wired.
Good Luck with it, Doug -
Images open showing grid, not all the colors
Hello:
I'm having a problem opening my images. When I select open and select an image, it just opens with the square grey & white blocks in a grid. The only way I can get the image to fully show with color is when I go to the channels on the lower right, and constantly select Ctrl+2 on the keyboard, for the image to then come in. I should not have to do this, it should open with all the colors showing up front.
Can someone help me where I can just open an image w/o manually selecting the color channels everytime? Thanks.
Photoshop CS5The grid indicates transparency everywhere so is the Opacity set to 0 or have you applied a Layer Mask with Hide Everything set? Do another screen capture with the Layers pallet visible instead of Channels.
If the Layers are setup correctly, have you tried turning off OpenGL in Edit / Preferences / Performance? There may be some incompatibility with your video card or its drivers.
Did things used to work and suddenly stopped? Have you updated to PS CS5 12.0.3 recently?
Another odd thing is that your image is indicated as being 1280x1024 in the tab-title area, but the onscreen representation appears square. -

Illustrator Overprint Preview shows grids?
Whenever I enable Overprint Preview Illustrator seems to add grids on/over my document.
When I disable it, it dissapears.
I find this strange because to me the opposite sounds more logical.
Will these grids be printed if I choose to print?Indeed, Victor,
Overprint Preview is an approximation of what you may call an ink preview, to (more or less) show how all the parts of artwork will interact and appear in print; this means that to a certain extent you see through the topmost artwork (parts).
This see through then includes the grid which becomes visible underneath the artwork and not merely round it as in (normal) Preview.
So no problem, maybe a bit of a curiosity. -
Show grid frames when previewing and printing
Hoping somebody out there can help..
I'm starting a new business, and teaching myself CS6 from scratch to design a 16 page catalogue in the next 4 weeks. I'm working with a 4, 6 or 9 grid structure per page using frames to create the grids. However, i can't work out how to show the frames holding the product information when previewing and printing the brochure. I also want to lock the template frames in place if possible so they can't be altered when inserting text and images.
I've watched a few tutorials and done quite a bit of research, but can't crack it!
Yours hopefully...
HughEugene,
Thanks for the feedback. Your answer helped me realise that text/Image frames aren't the right tool to create my catalogue page box template, but i haven't yet figured out which feature i should be using or how to edit the layout i want to copy! (below)
I've done some more research on Frames, Layers, Tables & Rows, but still can't see which feature i should be using to replicate the page layout below to be printed and which will contain the product information.
Any suggestions? -
Rectangular grid tool versus show grid
This is probably a stupid question, but can someone explain what is the difference between the rectangular grid tool and the grid accessed from the View menu?
When might you use one rather than the other? They are both adjustable to the required spacings, so I am unclear about when it would be best to use one rather than the other. I think the reason I am unclear is that I have not fully understood their different functions. Can someone explain them?
Peter de WitPeter,
The Document Grid is a non-printing layout aid, like those in most every graphics progam. It's always "there", but can be shown or hidden; it can be set to cause tools to snap to it or not, regardless of if it is showing.
The Rectanglular Grid Tool is simply a tool for drawing an art item, like an ellipse or polygon. It's just that--a drawing tool. Sometimes you want to draw grids.
That's not to say you can't use a grid drawn with the Rectangular Grid Tool as a layout aid; you can, just as you can use any path as a temporary construction line. But it's just another of the several tools provided for drawing paths.

Display showing grid lines and craziness.
How can I find out what is causing this issue?
From what I've read it could possibly be a failing graphics card, failing LCD, or loose wire.
Here are my specs:
iMac (27-inch, Late 212)
Processor: 3.4 GHZ Intel Core i7
Memory: 32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 (upgraded myself)
Startup Disk: Macintosh HD
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB
I'm a photographer and videographer, so I'm sure my graphics card gets quite a workout often. I've also come back to find that my computer has restarted itself, likely due to the issue.I would make an appointment with a Genuis and show them the screen prints. I had this issue with a Macbook and it was a motherboard issue. That does not mean your issue is the same - but it needs to be checked. Screen prints like yours are so helpful for them to diagnose.

Showing Grid without column headers and Grid lines
Hi all
does anyone knows how can set a grid object to display without grid lines and without column headers?
appreciate the help
YoavHi Yechiel,
When you work with the grid you just have to drag it into your srf and bind it with some table by specifying the table name in its properties.
When the form launches the columns of the grid will be created automatically as per the number of columns in the table.The caption of the column in the grid will be the same as that of the name of the column in the table.The only condition for this is that the table should contain some records, if the table is empty no grid lines and the column header will be displayed .
I hope this meet your requirements.
Below I am sending you the code segments with the help of which you can control the grid progamatically...
//Declaring the grid object
Grid oGrid;
//Initializing the grid object
oGrid=(SAPbouiCOM.Grid)oForm.Items.Item("MBS_Grid").Specific;
//Adding a new data table to the form
oSboApplication.Forms.ActiveForm.DataSources.DataTables.Add("MBS_DataTable");
//Assigning the data table to the grid
oGrid.DataTable = oSboApplication.Forms.ActiveForm.DataSources.DataTables.Item( "MBS_DataTable" );
// This statement will clear the grid
oGrid.DataTable.Rows.Clear();
// In this way you can set the column properties
oGrid.Columns.Item(0).Editable=false;
oGrid.Columns.Item(1).Editable=false;
oGrid.Columns.Item(2).Editable=false;
oGrid.Columns.Item(3).Editable=false;
oGrid.Columns.Item(4).Editable=false;
oGrid.Columns.Item(5).Editable=false;
// In this way you can set the column width
oGrid.Columns.Item( 0 ).Width = 50;
oGrid.Columns.Item( 1 ).Width = 60;
oGrid.Columns.Item( 2 ).Width = 130;
//This is the way you can set a user defined caption on the column header.
query="select U_CTX_MOVCODE as 'Movie Code',U_CTX_MOVNAME as 'Movie Name',U_CTX_SHELF as 'Shelf Number',U_CTX_SPACE as 'Space Number',U_CTX_CARDCODE as 'Customer Code',U_CTX_RENTED as 'Rent Status' from [@CTX_VSTORE] order by Code";

FlowLayout wrapped components not showing when nested in a GridBagLayout
Hello, I'm having a problem when adding multiple components to a FlowLayout that is inside a grid of a GridBagLayout. I'd love to post some code, but it's really entrenched, so I'll try to give an a decent verbal example below.
The problem is that when I fill a grid in the GridBagLayout, it happily goes to the end of the JScrollPane it's nested inside (this is necessary for vertical movement, but horizontal is disabled). When I add a JPanel to this right-most grid, and set it FlowLayout, and then add any n components, the components plow right off the right side of the screen (and again, having a horizontal scroller is not acceptable to the users).
I've tried screwing around with setting the preferred size: if I set the preferred width to 0 (or to anything smaller than the width of the JScrollPane), the FlowLayout wraps the components (good) but doesn't take up the height it needs to display them (bad). They get stuck "under" whatever is painted next. If I set the preferred height to some arbitrary value, it will show them, but maintains that value even when the window is resized, so again some components get buried.
Further, the arbitrary size that I'm setting can't be calculated, as I can't get the preferred size (or any size) of the FlowLayout until after it's been drawn to the screen!
Is there something that I'm missing here, or some trick that I haven't stumbled across before to make this work the way that I want it to? (That being that a JPanel nested in some grid in a GridBagLayout, and having sufficient GridBagConstraints, and being set to FlowLayout, will display all the components dropped in it, wrapping them as they reach the end of the JScrollPane that encapsulates the GridBagLayout).
Any help is greatly appreciated!I've found a reasonable solution to my problem:
http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=57&threadID=780453
contains code for an extended FlowLayout called "BetterFlowLayout" which works in a much more friendly way with JScrollPane. It seems the problem wasn't so much with the GridBagLayout, but more with the JScrollPane. In any event, anyone having a similar problem can find (and modify) a decent solution from the post above.
