Show hidden files breaks "All My Files"

I'm trying to get my AMP stack back up on a new Mountain Lion Mac, which has become a larger pain since they removed Web Sharing. First step to getting the AMP stack up was to show hidden files:
defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES
Then a restart of finder (option + right click Finder in dock > Restart), but this has completely killed "All My Files" showing anything. It's not like I really care about this feature of Finder, but still, just wondering if there is a different terminal command now for showing hidden files that doesn't break this. Hiding hidden files back to default does not fix "All My Files" either.
In addition, you can't double click any hidden folders, you have to right click and select "Open" or "Open Original" if it was an alias (ie etc).

I can't reproduce the problem.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter "mdworker" (without the quotes) in the Filter text field. Post the messages that appear in the Console window — the text, please, not a screenshot.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Do not post many repetitions of the same message.
Some personal information, such as the names of your files, may be included — edit that out, too, but don’t remove the context.
Step 2
Do the same with the search string "mds".

The "Today" row shows wrong date in file choosers (All my files favorite)

1- I edit and save a document (e.g., a word doc)
2- I try to attach that file in Mail.app or upload it through Safari.
3- When the file chooser opens (in safari or Mail.app) I select "All my files" and sort by "Date last modified".
4- The Today row does not show my file. Instead it shows files that where last modified the day I last opened Safari (or mail.app).

When viewing files in All My Files view, date last opened is not updating properly ever since Yosemite installed. In Mt. Lion did not occur. Since the Yosemite install - we've tried opening many different pages & preview files, same thing occurs. I've had 4 appointments at Genius Bar about this and no one has figured out a fix. Genius Bar already re-installed Yosemite and bug still there. I am having the same problem which has happened very infrequently before. Generally it's one photo and happened when my battery died.
However today I tried to download six photos.
None would download including several others for a total of 21 that would not download.
Since I had just installed a new powered hub and added three new external 4T hard drives, I got concerned that it was the hub. Then got really worried that I'd have problems with the data I have been backing up.
However following this sequence of events, I've determined it's not the hub, but still don't know what is causing the problem.
(1) Put a fresh battery in the camera - same results
(1.5) Used a different port in the new hub - same results
(2) Put the card in the card slot in the back of my iMac - no problems except that one image I knew about last week. The six new images imported.
(3) Tried again using the cable - still same error
(4) Changed cables - my husband has the same camera - still same error
(4) Put the card in his camera with his cable - still same error
(5) Put the card in a card reader and used the same slot in the new hub - no problems - same one wouldn't import but message that there are no new photos to import.
(6) Moved the offending one image to the Trash while the card was in the card reader
(7) Put the card back into my camera and used my cable. iPhoto had no error and displayed the message there are no new photos.
Conclusion:
Not the camera
Not the cable
Not the hub
Must remove bad photo from the card
However, I have not had to do that before. I went through several imports on vacation when there was one bad image and just ignored it each time.

Well, I looked for where to delete this but didn't see it.
NEVERMIND; I forced iPhoto to quit and restarted and everything seems fine.
BTW, I did get one thing wrong. When I looked at both iPhoto libraries with FINDER, the active one and the archived one both showed content as far as file size goes.
It was because I was viewing the files through Adobe Bridge that it was showing 0 GB's; for whatever reason.

Switch to the Finder app and open its preferences.
Remove the check mark on the items you don't want displayed in the Sidebar tab.
The originals are not removed from the machine.

Getting Rid of Files in All My Files

i don't know how to this: In All My Files under PDF Documents, I have about 482 pdf documents I don't want to keep. Example..a zillion used Groupon Coupons. Is there a way to get rid of these documents, with out having to highlight each one and dragging 10 at a time into the trash? Thanks for any help

I've chosen not to show all my files as I find that superfluous; however, I believe that is only a list of the files, not the files themselves. I think you will need to find the files in their actual location/folder.

Maybe I don't understand the question. When you save the file, you'll be asked to name the Folder and if you want to save it to the Sidebar. If you save it to the Sidebar as shown in the second screenshot, it creates a Smart Folder, which I named zip. So Save As: zip. Whenever you want to find a zip file on your System, just look in Smart Folder in the Finder Sidebar

How to write a *.bat file to execute all *.sql files in a folder?
Because have about 20 *.sql file in a folder. There are used to fix data in my database. The number of *.sql file increases day by day. So I want to write a *.bat file to execute all *.sql file in the folder. Since I just run this *.bat file.

HELP!!! I can't find my files under "all my files" on my mac.

I can't even see them under spotlight. The tags are removed but I can see them on the original files. The original files are in their designated folders but i can't see them under "all my files". I can't even find them when I search them through spotlight. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

Iphone4 backup restore problem because backup files are all just files

Hi guys I have scoured the sea of articles and comments for this but couldn't make it work.
My iphone 4 was backed up on the macbook - it first couldn't find the files so I had to find them and put the whole backup folder on the desktop so that when I try to restore the iphone via an old backup it could locate it.
However, all the files in the very long named folders have no clickable files for itunes to begin the backup.
If anyone could help that'd be great.

Opening a Numbers file opens all Numbers files

When I open a file created with Numbers 09, not only that file opens, but other (non-linked and unrelated) files I created with Numbers also open. Is there a way I can stop this and only open the files I want to work on? At about the same time this started, I also started getting an error message form, that doesn't have any content everytime I open Numbers. See enclosed image:

I couldn't find anyplace in SystemsPref>Gen to cause files to close when I quit the app, but I did close the files one-by-one and when reopening the one I wanted found that only that one opened. So that did solve the problem for me.
But I'm still curious about the "Document Warning" window that doesn't show any warning. It obviously isn't related to the opening of the extraneous Numbers files, but does show up everytime I open any file in Numbers now.

Looping through text files loads all 2014 files correctly, but 2013 files only loads every other row

Hello all. I am once again stumped and would very much appreciate any help.
I have a folder with many text files such as this...
A 2013-03-31.txt
A 2013-06-30.txt
A 2013-09-30.txt
A 2013-12-31.txt
A 2014-03-31.txt
A 2014-06-30.txt
A 2014-09-30.txt
B 2013-03-31.txt
B 2013-06-30.txt
B 2013-09-30.txt
B 2013-12-31.txt
B 2014-03-31.txt
B 2014-06-30.txt
B 2014-09-30.txt
…and so on…
and I'm loading all of the files beginning with A to an existing table in SQL Server. I'm loading the data as is to a staging table, no data type conversions, and I add only two derived columns. I have a loop to accomplish this, and it's working perfectly
except for one detail. All of the files in 2013 load every other row. All of the 2014 files load all rows as intended.
Any idea what would cause this? All files are being loaded using the same loop, same variables, same everything. My enumerator on the for each loop is Foreach File. The DataRowsToSkip property on the flat file connection manager is 0. I'm not sure where
to look next. I need all rows in all files to be loaded.
Forgot to mention that there is a difference between the 2013 and 2014 files. The 2014 files have 8 additional columns. I suspect this is causing my issue, just not sure what to do about it.

In SSIS 2012 and above these additional columns would not cause a failure, but looks like lead to you having impartial loads.
I suggest you create two loops, one for one metadata - files from 2014 and another for 2013 ones.

Close open seq files / Reload all seq files

Hi All.
I have a problem with the OI. When I have started a seq and it fails because of a seq error... then I go to the editor and correct the fault, and then try again in the OI, but it doesn't reload the seq file after it is changed.
Then I try to put in a button on my OI to close the seq file.
I have tried to do this in 2 ways.
First I tried to use ApplicationMgr.ReloadModifiedSequenceFiles , but it does not work, I cant figure out why it isn't changed after I press save....
Then I tried to use ApplicationMgr.SequenceFiles and afterwards SequenceFiles.Count, but Count is always 0.... why.... it seems that all seq files are running in another instance of that activex server....
Count should at least be 1 because I have a seq file that is running in a "endless" loop in the background..
So any ideas ???

Now I know what you mean about if I was holding a reference to the new execution. Now I have made this reference, and I can also get out the information if the seq is changed or not, but now I cant get ReleaseSequenceFileEx to work, it will not release and unload the file.
The problem must be that another "thing" has a reference to the seq. The only other thing I can think of is the Execution View in the OI.......
So now I am a little bit lost again... can you please help me a little bit further.
I have attached a cut of my background seq, so you can see what I am doing.

Just bought new PC with windows 8.1 and installed the 64bit tunes as instructed by the new PC. Only a small part of my music library is now showing but can see all the files in the itunes folder on an eternal hard drive linked to my old XP pc.

Problem - changed PC to one with Windows 8.1 ( previous from 2006 with Windos XP). Previously all ITunes stuff on an external harddrive as 80 gigs of music too much for the old PC
When attached Harddrive to new PC was told needed to install the new 64 bit iTunes as 32 bit iTunes not compatable.
Did so but only a very small portion of my music is showning - though rest of Library is still on the external drive in the folder.

Under iTunes Media though I do not have folders for Books,iPod Games, Mobile Applications, Movies, TV Shows so I only have Auto Add to iTunes, Music, Downloads and Podcasts - My question here is is this OK.
Next - Library files that you mention are there but do not end .itdb
Next - in the main iTunes folder followingon from Artwork and Media folders there is some other iTunes database stuff like Library Extras, Library Genius, Library and Music Library(xml) all dated 10/02/12 plus MimiPlayer .dll dated 21/02/14 and Set Up Short Cut dated22/03/14
AND there is also a Programme Files folder with a sub folder holding file folders called CD Configuration,iTunes Resources, iTunes Help Resources, iTunes Mini Player Resources and Mozilla Plugins all dated 24/03/14 ( when I downloaded the new iTunes) and then a lot of application extension stuff from 2011
To recap I unistalled the old 32 bit iTunes and installed the new 11.1.5 (64 bit) version over the weekend SO is any of the old stuff listed above required.
Outcome right now is that as previously I can only call up the Downloaded music not Podcats or CD copies.
