Show if recordset not empty requires a space: any way around this?
hi,
i've got a lot of recordsets which may end up empty --
possibly up to half the time. i'm trying to make the output look
nice, but i'm stuck with the a space for the empty recordset. its a
small thing, but i'd still like to have the text flow perfectly in
a paragraph if those fields are empty. suggestions please. thanks.

The previous owner should have reset it back to factory defaults before selling it. What iOS version is the iPad on (Settings > General > About > Version), and has the previous owner left him/herself logged in in Settings > iCloud with Find My iPad enabled on that screen ? If it's on iOS 7 and Find My iPad is enabled then you should contact the previous owner and ask them to remove the iPad from their account, otherwise you or the recipient of the gift will have problems with activation lock : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4515

Lanier Ricoh Printers are NOT accessible through SL. Any way around this?

Opinion: It's really terrible how Apple upgrades with such a disastrous result from so many that have to experience this kind of stress. It's really ****** of Apple to do this to it's loyal base.Are you printing to a network printer?
Did you download the new Ricoh drivers?

If you are printing to a network printer (like I am) choosing the LPD (Line Printer Daemon) option with a 10.6 Ricoh Driver did the trick. -
When I try to buy ibooks from my ipad, the virtual keyboard is not the same as my computer keyboard, and since my password consists of letters, numbers and symbols, the ipad keeps displaying "incorrect password". Is there any way around this please anybody?

Are you using the virtual keyboard to input your password and you cannot see/find the characters you need on that keyboard?
Or are you trying to use a bluetooth keyboard and pressing the printed key does not produce the right character? -
I have highlighted words in an .iba file. Now I need to increase the space before (and/or after) the paragraph it's contained in. If I increase the space after, the height of the highlighting increases also. Is there any way around this?

I have a Netgear NAS which uses Stora software. Mavericks will not let me install the software as it is not from an approved developer. Is there any way around this?
There is, but why do you need the s/w installed? The NAS should have a web admin interface, accessible via ip address (http://<ip address>) which should allow all the needed configuration that is required for it to work with machines running os x.
Try to install as little s/w as you need to do something in Mavericks or any OS as it is usually the cause of future issues or problems.
If you're intent on installing the s/w, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General and If you have tried to run it before, it should be listed there. You can then "un-block" it should you wish. -
my on/off button does not appear to be working on my iphone 3.....is there any way around this....anyway around this?...the phone also periodically just switches off.
Likely a hardware issue... no way around that except to get it repaired or don't use it (the button).
Try restoring to solve the switching off problem. -
I have just dowloaded iTunes new version 10.4 (on Windows), and I can't paste any artwork from Word anymore, only directly from the net (where the size or the quality of the images is not always optimal). Major problem given that I'm in the process of re-ripping some 40K+ songs in Lossless format... Any way around this?

Look out for "japiohelp".
In short:
a) press Windows key + "R", enter "cmd", and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter (= runs as admin)
b) enter "netsh winsock reset" and pres enter
c) reboot the computer

I wanted to use verizon hotspot wifi with my ipad (it searaches for hotspots when ur on the go) but verizon states not compatible with operating system. States that it needs windows 7, Vista, or windows XP. Any ways around this? Any ideas?

I have an ipad3 and a PC
I am trying to connect the iPad3 to the PC for HotSpotting reason (the ability to use the internet on the PC)
Turning on HOT SPOT on the Apple ipad works GREAT when using it through WI-Fi and through Blue Tooth. But connecting it directly through the included iPad 3 USB Cable to the USB side of the PC does NOT work. I tried several PCs, and several Cables. Any other ideas -
As I stated in the question... I use Strava.com website quite a bit, but when transferring ride info from my Garmin 305 it requires me to restart Firefox in 32bit mode. Is there any way around this? It can be frustrating to be working in one window and have to restart the whole browser when uploading ride data.

just updated to the latest version of itunes and now my iphone won't sync with my email or calender because the apple mobile device is not started. Anyone know any way roudn this - Apple wish to charge me to fix this. not impressed
It is working now. I no longer get the message about the item not being available in the US and I can access the store.

The keys on the sides of the space bar will shift the keys to a different set of characters. Pressing the ".?123" key takes you to another layout. On that layout the "#+=" key will shift to another set of characters. Between those 3 layouts you should have access to all of the symbols printed on a regular keyboard. You might want to check your keyboard and international settings in the Settings app if you think that may be an issue. If you are using key combinations to get symbols that are not printed on the physical keyboard, let us know so we can see if there is a way to generate the character/code on the iPad keyboard.

Some apps require Adobe Flash; however, when I attempt to upload the program, I receive message to the effect that my iPad (version 7.0) cannot support Adobe Flash, so I am unable to view some attachments sent. I just bought my iPad recently and am still figuring everything out. If there is some solution to my problem, I would appreciate being advised. Thanks.

I am assuming the plugin that the Firefox message is referring to is for attaching a file to the email. I say this because at the bottom of a new email it has a link that says "Attach files more easily" which, when you click it, takes you to a setup process where you download an att updater. I ran that and it did seem to change anything. I am wondering if there is anything I can do to make Firefox handle this page without having to restart in 32-bit mode every time.
That means that you need to run Firefox in 32 bit mode if you want to use that plugin.
# Close Firefox
# Open the Applications folder in Finder
# Right click or control-click the Firefox.app icon
# Select "Get Info"
# Select "Open in 32-bit mode"
# Close the "Firefox Info" window
# Restart Firefox
