Show in finder not working

Using Spotlight, the "show in finder" option does nothing. Also, under Safari downloads the spyglass icon "show in finder" does nothing. All of the sudden. No installs that I know of, except latest OSX and Mac apps updates. Anyone else seen this? Any help MOST appreciated!

Please read this whole message before doing anything. This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it. Step 1 The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.” While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin. Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem? After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it. *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing. Step 2 The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. *Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Show in finder not working in Safari 5.1.3

I was wondering whether anyone else had this trouble.
After combo update to 10.7.3, in Safari 5.1.3 the "show in finder" magnifying glass will not open my downloads folder to show downloaded files. That is, if I have invoked "Show Downloads" from the View menu in Safari and then hover over the magnifying glass, you see a "show in finder" in gray under the downloaded file's name. In the past, clicking the magnifier then would open a Finder window and highlight the downloaded file. This seems to be broken for me.
    Anyone else with this issue?

Ok, I solved the problem. I think this is new behavior from the last version of Safari. But this is what I have found out.
In order for the magnifier to activate and open the Finder window, the item to be located in the "Show Downloads" drop down must be highlighted by clicking somewhere in the row where it is listed. In my setup this highlights the item in blue and then clicking the magnifier will open the Finder window. If the item is not highlighted, then clicking the magnifier does nothing, even though the magnifier icon itself indicates feedback that it has been clicked.
Like I said, I think this is different behavior from the previous version of Safari and thus it takes 2 mouse clicks to open the Finder window rather than one.

  • Finder not working, when click the infinity sigh comes, can't open any file

finder not working, when click the infinity sigh comes, can't open any file?

That could be an indication your drive is failing. If you do not have a current Backup, that is top priority.

  • I ipod classic 80 gb when I am connected pc connected after that is hanged just showing connected its not working any button

I ipod classic 80 gb when I am connected pc connected after that is hanged just showing connected its not working any button .

Try connecting it to another PC, if it is ok, then your PC has some software conflict with iTunes.
If it hangs other PC also, then your iPod Hardisk, maybe bad.
Do the disk diagnosticas posted earlier by tt2, to check the health of your Hardisk.
    Have a nice day!

  • Finder not working well-show folders empty

    Hi,
for some times now I have problems with finder.
First I thought it was a problem accessing the network but I also have the problem with the local folders!!
After logging to my account, it works well for some times and then suddenly (may be after accessing machine on my network - Synology NAS) finder begin to show all folders as they are empty!!!
The funny thing is that if for instance I do a "file/open" within an app or do an attachment and so access a "windows like finder" it works!!
But if I use the finder ... folders are empty (shown as ...).
The only thing to get everything back is to restart the computer (and many times I have to hard stop the machine as the finder is not working anymore and my mac mini don't want to restart. I keep the desktop background and nothing happened!!
The strange thing is that it seems I don't have the problem on my MacBook Pro!!
The mac mini was a clean install!
    So many problem with Yosemite!!!

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return  three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
    12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Icon Preview In Finder Not Working Properly

Ever since upgrading to Lion I've had the issue of icon preview not working properly in finder. This mostly occurs with movie files such as .wmv files. Some take a long time to show a preview and some don't even show a preview. In Snow Leopard this was never an issue.
This also seems to happen in stacks as well. I'll get a greyed out box with a dsah borded. Seems as though it's the large files that do this.
    Anyone have any ideas?

I'm experiencing the same thing but with all kinds of files that have shown a preview in snow leopard: pictures, PDF-documents, music (with album art). It seems that previews are not created automatically whenever I change the name of a file or edit it in any other way, the preview shows up instantly. Rebooting works, too.
This is really annoying and a little online search shows, several people are having the same problem. As far as I know, there's no fix yet.

  • Finder not working... I'm getting annoyed at Apple.

Hi. Long time Apple Fan, 5 years now, heavy computer user for 15 years.
I recently installed a Brother Fax/Scan/Copy machine on my iMac with Leopard. The software that comes with it gives me the option to scan into PDF in one small step. Easy. I love it. However, the software is weak in that it doesn't clearly show where the pdf's are by default saved. I've solved that problem for the Black and White scans, but for the color scans, because I do them so rarely, I've not taken the time to figure it out.
So last night, I was scanning my Passport because I'm getting a new one soon. In the process, every time a scan completes, it opens the file in preview with the .pdf file and the default file-naming convention of CCI00001.pdf, CCI00002.pdf, and so on sequentially. Well, thinking I could easily find the files later, I just closed the Preview window thinking I'd open them later.
Well, the only way I can find these files is under the 'File>Open Recent' in Preview. Problem is, I've opened a few files with Preview since these scans, so I think, I'll just go to finder and type in the file name. Well, Finder can't find them. The ONLY way I can get to the files is through 'Open Recent' in Preview. However, some of them are no longer recent, so 'poof' they've disappeared. So I thought, well, let me click 'save as' in Preview and that would open the folder they are in. Well, it did, but it opened it in a finder window that is not the usual finder window. I.e., I can't navigate away from the folder that the 'Save as' function in Preview opens. Well, I can, but it doesn't clearly show me where that folder is that it default opened. I use the drop down arrow to open the 'advanced' finder window or whatever, but there is no 'root structure' (for lack of a better comparison that you can find in Windows) the name of the folder happens to coincide with my 'user' folder, but it doesn't have the little 'user' icon that you normally see next to your user folder in finder. It's just a normal blue folder that happens to have the same name as my user folder. So, I thought, why don't I create a new folder with a peculiar name that I can search for in finder- I called it 'Baffle Me' ... keep in mind, this is within Preview, File>Save As...> not changing the directory that it defaults to even though it's the name of my home folder or whatever, and then adding a folder called 'Baffle Me'... I saved in that folder. Logic would conclude that I could do a search within Finder now for a folder called 'Baffle Me' and wala- I'd find the folder where all my .PDF scans are. Nada. I thought, well maybe OSX needs to take time to scan it again- I'll come back tomorrow. So I did. Nada. I'm at a lost here. How can a file be on my computer and Finder not find it??
Can someone tell me how to find these scans? Did they get thrown out because I just closed the Preview window instead of saving them and they were in some sort of 'temp' directory? That doesn't make sense though, because I can still go back in 'File>Open Recent...> in Preview and find them. I'm at a loss here, and I'm really getting annoyed.
Ideas? Thanks in advance for your responses.
    Hal

    {quote}Well, the only way I can find these files is under the 'File>Open Recent' in Preview.{quote}
Command click on the filename on the preview window and it will give you the path to the file... That is also a live path, so if you click on the folder that the file is in you will be taken to where the file is. Or click on the Sidebar button on the preview window and click on the gear/wheel on the bottom and select sort by path. It will then show the path under the file name...
You should also play with spotlight to see if you can figure out why it was not working for you. I was able to find pdf's by name as well as text within them... It should've found them really easy with the file names.
    {quote} I use the drop down arrow to open the 'advanced' finder window or whatever, but there is no 'root structure' (for lack of a better comparison that you can find in Windows){quote}
Click on the hard drive icon in the sidebar and you see the 'root structure'. The mac layout is no different than Windows...

  • Finder not working...what should I do?

Finder hasn't been working for the past few days; so none of the icons on my desktop show up. I can sometimes open the Trash folder from the Dock, but cannot seem to click on anything. I have tried relaunching Finder and restarting my MacBook, but it's just not working.
I created a new admin account and Finder works fine, but since I cannot access Finder on the other account, I cannot transfer permissions from the +Get Info+ menu.
What can I do to make Finder work again on my main account? Please help!

    Welcome to the Discussions.
The Installation Disks, are the Disks that shipped with your Machine, Disk 1 and 2. These are vital to the smooth running running of your System, and are used for several tasks, including Troubleshooting.
So, it's important that you locate them.
In the absence of them, for now, do this.
/Users/Yourname/Library/Preferences, locate com.apple.finder.plist and move it to the Desktop, Reboot. If all works ok, you can trash that file.

  • 'show icon preview' not working, Icon preview no longer visible

I have lots of folders full of jpg files. The preview icon do longer appears and all i get is the genetic icon. This happened randomly yesterday and I don't know how to fix it. I have the 'Show Icon Preview' enabled yet I only get the generic icon. Any ideas why? (OS X 10.5.8). I have tried a restart, permissions fix, and reindexed my hard drive with spotlight. No luck. Please help!
Simply: I don't know how to get the preview back even after selecting the "show icon preview" box on the options. HELP!

    There probably are some hidden probable causes for this behavior;
while not knowing if you perform any general maintenance in a
preventative way for your OS X system, some of the suggestions
I could provide here may mean little or nothing to some users, or
to others, who have done them for years as a matter of course, to
suggest those could be the same as an insult; or a laughing matter.
You could try rather basic things, a few steps above 'repair disk
permissions' in Disk Utility. That's been around since OS 10.1.5.
And it has a place among other steps one can do to help out.
Sometimes, you can start up into SafeBoot mode; then choose to
run Disk Utility, and repair disk permissions. When done, quit D.U.
and restart the computer normally. - Other repairs to the system may
be performed by booting up from the OS X installer and run Disk
Utility from the menu drop-down options in the main Installer window.
You can repair disk, verify disk (SMART verify), repair disk permissions
and verify disk permissions. Plus other aspects of Disk utility that are
tools to set up partitions and other things beyond a basic simple fix.
    SafeBoot mode, basic:
+Hold the Shift key down on start-up, keep holding it until you get a login+
+screen, enter admin password, then when desktop appears, you can+
+use GO in menu bar to find Utilities folder, and run Disk Utility's repair+
+disk permissions. When done, quit the Utility and restart.+
There probably may be some .plist file controlling the view of image icons
and since I haven't followed that issue (experienced it in the past, forgot
what I did to fix it) I am not sure what preference file to suggest trashing.
But you can be very selective, when knowledgeable, and do that. Then,
later on, when you restart the computer the default setting would return.
You could set that to whatever (if not the default) & that may fix the matter.
{One preference file location that probably would contain your user account's
.plists would be in the Macintosh HD> User folder> Library> Preferences>
...Now, the correct one among these becomes important. There is a desktop
plist, a finder plist, and others. Since each user in a Mac with their own setup
account can change these, yours should be in your booted user account.
However, some time has passed since this kind of issue occurred and I didn't
    need to delete a .plist to resolve it. Yet that may be a short fix.}
These issues usually have a cause; sometimes it may be due to other items
not quite right in the user interface and symptoms of that sometimes show up
in odd places and they may not be directly related. Subtle and dismissed, a
few of those quirks are not show stoppers in OS X. A 'safeboot' & disk utility
may resolve some; to find a correct .plist preference file & trash it may, too.
If the computer's hard disk drive is getting full of content you have added, it
may be time to archive image libraries and/or music libraries off the Mac's
internal hard disk drive and then thin out content on the computer. That can
help a computer run better. Damage to data on the computer drive may be
a result (or outright is) of over-filling the hard disk drive. Overwriting content
is sometimes an issue; it could be subtle, too, for awhile. Checked into it?
For some preventative maintenance chores, I have and use OnyX which is
a free running utility tool (which I refer to as a utility interface tool) that pulls
the strings in OS X that some users would not think of the Terminal utility
ways of making them work; this gives you a GUI format, an application to
run various sets of items rather easily. If done without concern, these tools
can do bad things (same as booted Disk Utility, drastic tools are onboard.)
OnyX is a free-running downloadable app from Titanium Software; and since
I only use it maybe once every several months (or sooner if bored or if active
in using one computer more than usual) & have it run in Automation selection
having chosen all the check-box choices, so it will do those. I also have OnyX
set in its preferences, to restart the computer after it is done running those.
This may do more than you need in this selection of Automation. I have never
had any issues with this; but some preference choices system-wide may need
to be set back to your choice, as it can be also set to wipe caches or other old
logs and misc stuff. A few settings won't make much different to default from.
Usually, I prefer not to shut off or restart my computer until such time as when
Activity Monitor shows some issue with virtual memory and swap files or space
on the hard drive being excessively allocated as Virtual Memory. At times, a
restart may be required. My Mac can run a few months without restart, but it is
left to sleep or I will put it to sleep. Even so, some basic background OS X items
may not automatically run as they should. You can force the maintenance cycles.
If the 'show icon preview' does not work even after performing catch-up maintenace
and including OnyX, SafeBoot, and others; and if you have at least 30% of the total
hard disk drive capacity open or free from use, then you may have to consider a few
other ideas. (Removing the plist file may be the only thing you'd need do.) Another
idea in a few cases of more severe odd behavior, and if you updated your Leopard
10.5 to your current/last level through use of the Delta or small update file, would be
to get the larger Combo (last version) and after repairing disk permissions, install it
over the similar system in your computer. 10.5.8 over 10.5.8. Then restart and go in
and repair disk permissions again. Perhaps later on, safeboot and do them.
That much effort is seldom needed. Preventative maintenance and care to not over-
fill the hard disk drive, helps to almost never see such a problem in your Mac OS X.
{In a few cases, people who have upgraded from an earlier OS X version (Tiger-to-
Leopard, for example) and had a problem, may still have a similar problem later. So
it is best to fix issues and not hope to upgrade over them. Unless it is a totally new
bare-bones secure zero-overwritten drive, correct partition map, reformat, new install.
    Then, there should be no doubt if there was an odd problem in the software, only.}
Hopefully some of this late night rambling may be of some help.
+Answering a question in these forums can be like replying to a+
+statement thus, "why won't my car go?" And an answer starts+
+out by asking dozens of questions about the car itself and the+
+status of the car, if it has fuel, tires, if it's been in a flood, or if+
+there is an engine, fuel, battery... At least I know yours runs!+
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Why is my FINDER not working?

From the beginning of having Yosemite I've had an issue opening my FINDER for ANY function. I click the button to access a folder and it holds for 3 seconds, doesn't show any icons, and then closes. Once that happens my screen flashes the folders and it's back to normal.
    (Macbook Pro 15", Mid-2010, 2.53 Core i5, 8gb memory)

    I'm having the same problem.
Macbook Pro: OSX 10.9.1 / Remote Desktop Client 3.7.1 with remote login and screen sharing turned on
Mac Pro: OSX 10.9.1 / Remote Desktop Client 3.7.1 with remote login and screen sharing turned on
I am able to create access via mac pro to laptop and visa versa on the finder level and access all of my files but the screen sharing still will not work. Even when I'm logged in successfully on the finder level, the screen share still does not recognize the password and gives the error: "Authentication failed to "xxxx". Please verify you have entered the correct name and password".
I would expect that if it were a network issue, that I wouldn't be able to connect at all and it wouldn't be denying access based on an "incorrect" user or password.
Wish this could get fixed. I used it quite often prior to the Mavericks install.

  • Spotlight and finder not working after Yosemite upgrade

    Hi,
    I just upgrade to 10.10.1 from 10.8 on a Mid 2012 Retina macbook pro, 2.7Ghz i7, 16GB RAM, 750GB SSD drive.
Since upgrading spotlight and finder have stopped working.  When I first upgraded I noticed it worked very briefly and found some of my applications, but now nothing.  The only thing it does is find the definition of the word I am searching for,
    I have
gone in to sys pref > spotlight added and remove all folders and rebooted the machine
gone in to sys pref > spotlight > privacy tab and ensured no folders are in that pane
gone in to sys pref > spotlight > privacy tab and added "documents folder" closed sys prefs rebooted and then removed "documents" folder to try and trigger a re index
gone to terminal and typed "sudo mdutil -E /" which should erase and rebuild the index but i get the error back "Error: Index is already changing state.  Please try again in a moment"
gone to terminal and typed "sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist" and then typed "sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist"
go to disk utility and verified my disk which comes back as showing no errors
logged in as another user but spotlight and finder still not working
Any other ideas my laptop is useless for work if I can't find anything,
    Thanks

unfortunately I this is still not working, thanks for the link Eric i tried those options, but still the problem remains.
I can clear the cache and re index my mac, and while the system is re indexing spotlight works and I can find material during the reindex.  This is obviously limited to the files that have been indexed at the point of using spotlight.
Once indexing has finished if I go to spotlight and try to search for anything, there are no results only the dictionary appears.
At the moment I have to delete the index cache every morning to trigger a re index so I can work, this is terrible and the worst upgrade experience I have had with any OS mac or windows

  • "Find" Not Working in Adobe Reader X

I Installed ARX on a Win7/64 machine a few months ago...it seems to work fine.  But today I tried to use the "find" function; everything seemed normal, I asked it to find the word "smith", but it wasn't there (but it really was).  I then tried the word "the", not there either.  Neither was "and".  What's going on?  [FWIW, I use Norton if that's a problem for "find".]  Thnx
I just realized that it does work on some documents.  Would working or not working depend on how the PDF was generated?  For ex, some of my PDFs came from a scanner, some were web-PDF conversions, some were exports (like from Family Tree Maker), some were originally PDFs, ....

Scanned PDFs that have not had OCR performed will just contain an image of text, so they cannot be searched. Other files may have messed up fonts. Without looking at eachc particular document, it's hard to say what's wrong.

  • Show hiide Buttons not working in andorid OS and windows mobile OS

    Hi,
I made a file in Indesign CS6. This file has a map with dots on it. When a user clicks a dot, an info box pops up giving info about that dot. He clicks the box to make it dissappear and can click another dot for the next info.  I achieved this using the hide and show feature of buttons and exported using interactive Pdf. The file works fine on a windows Pc but it does not work on andorid or windows mobile platform. How can I make it work for both?

I assume that you're talking about Show-Hide Fields in an interactive PDF. It's not likely that it will work given the limitations of most PDF readers on mobile devices.
I'm a user of an iPad and iPhone, and haven't worked with Android or Windows devices but I think the issues are the same on all platforms. Some PDF readers are better than others. You didn't say what PDF reader you were testing on.
Here are two articles I've written about the frustrations of getting interactivity to work on mobile devices, in this case, an iPad:
    http://indesignsecrets.com/for-interactive-pdf-not-all-readers-are-equal.php
    http://indesignsecrets.com/navigation-button-tricks-for-interactive-pdf-on-an-ipad.php
The best PDF reader for iOS devices is PDF Expert, but I don't believe that exists for Android or Windows devices. I can view interactivity that Adobe Reader doesn't support.

  • Show/hide bahavior not working in firefox or safari

Here is my problem. The show hide behavior incorporated in DW
CS3 is working fine in IE6 and 7 but not working at all in firefox
and safari (both latest version). I have tried it on different
    event but nothing.
My web site is configured that if someone click on details, a
layer will become visible and the details will be showed. I know
there is a work around and the simplest would be to have a new
window open but this is not the style I want.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
