"show in Library" missing in LR 3

In LR 2 you was given the option of "show in finder" if you tried to import images already in the catalogue - that was realy handy if you have missed to give some files keyword, but know where they are on the hard drive.
this option seems gone now in LR 3 - all you see is grayed out thumbnails in the import dialogue, if you control click, you have the options to show in finder, but not in the library - this is really annoying! or am I missing something??
thanks in advance!
/adam

sorry for not being clear.
here it is:
the images is already imported.
you have missed to give them a propper keyword, and you now want to find them in the Library.
you know where the image is in the finder/hard drive. but you need to find them in the Library.
in LR 2 you re imported all the images from the specic location, at the end of the import LR 2 say that the images was allready in the catalouge and could not be imported BUT LR 2 gave you the option to "show in Library" and now the missing images was shown in the library and you could give them keywords ect.
I really miss this "show in Library" function

  • "Show Aperture Library" missing in iPhoto '11

    This is an issue that I had when using iPhoto '09 as well, but I thought upgrading to '11 might help.
    It didn't.
    I like to use Aperture to manage my more "professional" (and I use that term loosely) photography so that I can use plugins and have better editing capabilities. I also like to use iPhoto for more casual photo maintenance and sharing purposes.
    Typically, I would just view my Aperture previews in iPhoto for sharing by clicking File>Show Aperture Library
    Ever since I upgraded to Aperture 3, iPhoto hasn't shown the "Show Aperture Library" option.
    Any ideas as to why this is or how to fix it?

    Under iPhoto->Preferences->Advanced make certain the Copy Items to iPhoto Library is unchecked
    You need to be very careful before making such a choice. You're changing the nature of your Library from Managed to Referenced. Before you do this you need to be sure of the consequences - i.e that you are now responsible for file management - and how, if you're not careful and don't plan your photo management appropriately, you can easily lose data.
    As to the core issue: I certainly have that option checked and I also have the Show Aperture Library option.
    Does the Show Aperture Library command go away if you re-check the option in Preferences -> Advanced

  • IPhoto "Show Aperture Library" misses some images

    I am running Aperture 2 and iPhoto 09. When I access the "Show Aperture Library" menu in iPhoto to import Aperture images it does not show images that were scanned in from my Canon MX860 scanner. They are in JPEG format. They show like any other image when I am in Aperture. This problem does not exist with images taken with a digital camera. I don't know why a scanner's JPEG image would be any different.
    Is there a way to correct this? (I realize I can export images from Aperture to the Desktop and then drag-and-drop to iPhoto as a workaround.)
    Thanks for your help.

    Make sure the scanned images do not have a Grayscale color profile but an RGB or sRGB color profile. iPhoto works with these but does not support the Grayscale profiles. If the photos do have a grayscale profile, you can change that in Preview or any other photo editor that allows you to change the color profile of a photo.

    How can I force Itunes to show me the missing music in my library? Somwhere I found that if you Select all, Ctrl-I it would do it. But it did not help. I need to find the broken ones! Help!

    Create a new, regular playlist named All music.
    Drag everything under Library > Music to this playlist.
    Create a new Smart playlist.
    Match all rules;
    Playlist is Music
    Playlist is not All music. This contains all songs that cannot be found

  • LR3 Import dialog - Missing "Show in Library" option when importing existing photos

    Please add the option "Show in Library" into the right click menu when attempting to import a photo that already exists in the LR3 catalog. It was a convenient feature in LR2 to jump directly to the existing photo. In LR3 I must cancel the import dialog and search the photo manually.

  • "Show in library" in Ping menu?

    Before Lion we had the option "Show in library" in the Ping menu. This would take the user to all the songs by the same artist, album, or what you choosed. I can't find this feature now, and it's driving me nuts.

  • Albums not showing in library after import

    Just install iTunes 10.4.1.10 on Win XP (have same issue on Win 7) it auto added my music folder but its all messed up due to filenames etc so I deleted everything from library with the intention of manually importing everything.  Albums are not showing in library after going File -> Add Folder to Library...
    Any ideas?

    Note that Pause and Resume can be found in the right-click context menu of an item (toolbar drop-down list).
    Do you have the .part file or only the (final) file with a byte count of 0 bytes?
    If the .part file and doesn't have the expected file size (2 GB) is missing then you won't be able to resume this download anyway. You can check the temp folder as well.

  • My media drop menu for music, tv shows, etc. is missing in iTunes?

    My media drop menu for music, tv shows, etc. is missing in iTunes?

    A lot of it may be artwork. My iTunes is 40,000 songs (213Gb and I have almost 9Gb of artwork - and that's been downsized to 300X300 "web optimized" images too)
    Also, there is a discrepancy between the way iTunes shows files size and the way OS X does.
    iTunes (most likely because there is also a Windows version) uses "binary" calculations (1mb = 1024kb and so on) where OS X uses "decimal" calculation (1mb = 1000kb and so on).
    120gGb in iTunes is 122,880mb. That same 120Gb in OS X is 120,000mb.
    The files are the same size, but OS X will show more available space than iTunes will.
    Still, artwork and duplicates are the #1 & #2 culprits.
    Lastly, the bit rate of your music can be a factor. If everything is 320kbps or more... or Apple Lossless (800kbps+ usually) your music files are a lot bigger than you probably need, unless you're a music professional (DJ or producer). Try converting them down to a bit rate in the area of 160 or 192kbps. 192 is the MAX for anything in my library, because I only use it for home listening.

  • How to show the Library folder in an external hard drive

    Hi there,
    I am trying to restore the Skype Chat History to my new computer.
    My old hard drive crashed and had to be replaced.  Unfortunately my back-up Time Machine file was corrupted due to fact that this is a VERY EASY thing to happen and hence I DO NOT recommend that anyone uses Time Machine through a wirelessly connected hard drive, such as a Time Capsule - a very bad design flaw!
    Luckily I am able to access some of the files on the old hard driave that was removed from my laptop.  However I can not find a Skype folder or the Application support folder under my user name.  Because it is an external drive, I can not use the techniques that have been suggested in other posts (such as using Terminal to permanently show the Library folder or using the Option key).
    Can you please help me!?

    Open a Finder window and choose the external drive with the user folder in the Finder sidebar. Then, make sure you see your user folder in the Finder window, because you will need it.
    Now, open Terminal (in /Applications/Utilities) and type:
    chflags nohidden
    After typing that, press the Space key and drag your user folder from the Finder window to your Terminal window, and after dragging it, now type after the dragged folder (without space):
    /Library
    In Terminal you should see:
    chflags nohidden (yourdraggeduserfolder)/Library
    Finally, press the Enter key and the Library folder will show up

  • Iphoto 09 "Show Aperture Library" can't load images from Aperture 3.1

    I'm trying to create a calendar in iPhoto 09 using my photos in Aperture 3.1. When I select from iPhoto "Show Aperture Library" I just get the spinning wheel. Below is my environment and what I have tried:
    Environment:
    * iMac 27 3 ghz
    * 4 G Mem
    * 10.6.5 OSX
    * iLife 09
    * Aperture 3.1
    * All updates applied
    Below is what I have tried/verified:
    * In Aperture, Preferences, set the previews to share with iLife and iWorks "Always"
    * Reviewed export Presets - didn't see anything that may apply
    * Verified it worked on my old iMac (20 inch 2 ghz, ilife 09, Aperture Trail version 3.0.1)
    * Created a new Aperture library (new mac) and still can not see it from iPhoto
    Unfortunately, I can get into the Trail version on the old mac (expired) to see if something is configured differently or if this function is not supported in Aperture 3.1.
    I know I can export from Aperture and Import into iPhoto, but thats seems like a lot of work for what I need to accomplish.
    Someone please show me the light!

    It should work in 3.1 also so thats not the issue.
    First if you try to access the Aperture library from an application other then iPhoto, say mail, does that work? If it does then the problem is most likely with iPhoto. If you get the 'spinning beach ball' in mail then its looking like Aperture.
    Assuming its Aperture you should go through the steps outlined at [Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805]. Do those and let us know what happens.

  • HT4740 How can I avoid or solve the problem of Final Cut Pro crashes when trying to Show Events Library?

    When I try to Show Events Library in Final Cut Pro, it crashes each time. Please tell me how do I work around this problem?

    Try creating a new (temporary) folder and putting all your events in there - then launch FCP X.
    If you can open the Browser, then it's possible one or more of the clips in one of your events is corrupt. Close the app and move the events back into their original places one by one (re-starting FCP X each time). This will help you find the event which has the corrupt file in it.
    If isolating the events has no effect, I suggest you trash your preferences.
    Unexplained faults like this can often be fixed by clearing out FCP X's preferences (for some reason, they get knotted up from time to time).
    Download Digital Rebellion's Preference Manager (free, simple to use, and perfectly safe, both to download and use).
    http://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/
    With Preference Manager, you can backup the Prefs when FCP X (or any of the Apple Professional Applications) are working normally. Then when either of the applications are acting strangely, Trash the Preferences, then Restore from your backups (just a mouse-click).
    If you trash the prefs and don't restore them, you will need to manually restore all your FCP X settings again, so it's a great idea to backup Preferences from time to time when FCP X is working well, then your backups are up to date.
    Doesn't fix every problem, but it fixes a lot.
