"Show in Mail" link in To-Dos - can't get rid of, like a virus

Hello!
I use To-Dos in iCal intensively.
But strange thing started to happen - all my To-Dos magically get "Show in Mail" link in URL field.
When I enter a new To-Do - everything is fine,
but after a couple of days "Show in Mail" link sticks to it again.
(This link takes you to nowhere).
And I can't get rid of it any other way then just by deleting "infected" To-Do.
Please help.

I think I've got it fixed....I "reset" my mail program, I deleted my mailbox then re-created it and I'm all set for now.

  • Undeletable e-mail in Mail - the latest! How can I get rid of it?

Following my recent posts about an undeletable e-mail received as undeliverable mail (I never sent it in the first place so it's obviously coming from a virused address book) I now have 13 copies of an identical e-mail which won't go away. My Mac says they're junk, but they're in the inbox and when I move them manually, they leave the inbox but don't appear in the junk. Once I return to the inbox, there they are again - with one more copy. There is no visible body, just a header stating:
"Subject: A hacker can access a public web site linked to an internal distributed file system and gain access to company and customer files."
I recently went to a PC forum for help and when I copied and pasted the header onto their forum , a green link appeared under the words "web site" taking me to a site "zimki.com" with whom I have never dealt.
How can I get rid of these self-generating e-mails?
Incidentally this message is not on my server as web mail access was used to delete it, so it only appears on the Mac.

Yes I did repost, as the original problem - a huge e-mail downloading - proved not to be the case so this is a more accurate description of the problem in the hope that I can get a more accurate solution.
I used the edit/ cut solution (thank you!) which removed the e-mails from my inbox, but they're now back with a vengeance including about twenty copies of one entitled "fez" (a virus maybe?) - I now have two of every e-mail downloading; my Mac tells me this fez message is junk but now adds that "You need to take this account on-line to download this message" - except the download in progress wheel keeps going on, and on, and on....and the new messages in my inbox (I now have two or three variations on the original theme) won't go anywhere except by edit / cut.
    I'm tearing my hair out!!!
I've just erased all the messages by webmail, 52 messages, so it appears my Mac is also no longer automatically erasing the messages on the server after download even though the box for this is ticked.

  • I downloaded fbdownloader and now having a oproblem with random window opening with other websites and a link on firefox I can't get rid of

I downloaded fbdownloader and after doing so I noticed changes in my facebook and I am getting random webpages popping up on new windows. there is a link on my facebook that I can't get rid of and I have uninstalled this program but seems there is lingering things that I can't get rid of. What can I do?

You have probably downloaded malware. Do a Microsoft Security Scan at http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner to check for viruses and tell me the result

  • Can't receive email from Mail 3.4 and I can't get rid of a draft email

    OK, two problems here...
1 The most frustrating is that I can't receive mail from Mail 3.4. I can send and my wife's email account is working fine. I've got a green light from the "Mail Connection Doctor" and I haven't changed any settings that I know of. I've been accessing my mail thru me.com now, it's working OK but not like "Mail".
    and
2 I have this piece of email that I sent...the guy received it...and it keeps showing up in my "Drafts" mailbox. I delete it, then it comes back, sometimes multiple copies! I've been getting an error message....
"Some actions taken while the account “Joe's Email” was offline could not be completed online."
"Mail has undone actions on some messages so that you can redo the actions while online. Mail has saved other messages in mailbox “On My Mac” in “On My Mac” so that you can complete the actions while online.
Additional information: The connection to the server “mail.mac.com” on port 143 timed out."
Now my airport connection has been on and off with this machine (my old powerbook has been rock solid on the same network) so the "timed out" portion is probably true...but why can't I just get ride of this email message?
    Thanks for the help

I think I've got it fixed....I "reset" my mail program, I deleted my mailbox then re-created it and I'm all set for now.

  • Those blue link icons...can I get rid of them?

    Hi
Is it possible to get rid of those little blue icons with a white arrow that iWeb sticks on things when you create a link?
I am trying to assign links to images and photos so you click on the image to go to another page - and having a silly blue icon on it ruins the pics.
    Thanks for the help.
    Rob

Without those, you wouldn't be able to tell what was
    hyperlinked and what wasn't!
Good point, Kyn. On some pages I have, I could use a little blue arrow or two to remind people to click! haha.

  • I can't get rid of an unknown virus

Hi, I believe I have some sort of unknown adware virus on my mac so I don't know how to get rid of it. The symptom is a generally constant one: when I click on something (anything) on the website I am on, a new tab opens up with ads. It is the ads which change: the ones I've seen several times are terdir.com and MacKeeper ads. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, I've tried searching for those two things in my files and all but haven't found anything at all. Thanks in advance.

I've seen this before but I'm a bit unsure of these kind of things. Is it really trustworthy? But thanks anyway for the answer, I'll probably try it anyway.

  • How can I get rid of the bizzclick virus?

When I look for something on Google, a whole list of sites comes up, but when I click on a site, I'm redirected to another site instead. I understand that this is called bizz click redirect virus and it happens mostly when using Mozilla.

  • I downloaded an add-on to have firefox reset itself everytime I close/reopen. Now I want to remove it. It's not listed as an add-on. How can I get rid of it?

I downloaded an add-on to have firefox reset itself every time I close and reopen it. Now I want to remove it, but it's not showing as an add-on. How can I get rid of it?

You can check the target line in the Firefox desktop shortcut (right-click: Properties) to make sure that nothing is appended after the path to the Firefox program.
Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
*Download the full Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop<br>http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    *(32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
    *(64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
*It is important to delete the Firefox program to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.

  • I cannot open "Show in Mail" link in Reminders app

    Hello Everyone,
I can drag emails over to my reminders app no problem but when I click the "Show in Mail" link.  It makes an error sound and doesn't do anything at all.
My default email reader is set to Mail 6.0 in the Mail preferences.
Anyone know what the problem is?

Use Mail to access your emails and not a web browser.
If you have not done this before you can probably get instructions about setting up Apple Mail from your email provider's web site.

  • In Mail, one mailbox for Recovered Message (AOL) keeps showing 1 very large message that I cannot delete. How can I get rid of this recurring problem, please?

In Mail on iMac, successfully running OS X Lion, one mailbox on My Mac for "Recovered Messages (from AOL)" keeps showing 1 very large message (more than 20 Mb) that I just cannot seem to delete. Each time I go into my In Box, the "loading" symbol spins and the message appears in the "Recovered Messages" mailbox. How can I get rid of this recurrent file, please?
At the same time, I'm not receviving any new mails in my In Box, although, if I look at the same account on my MacBook Pro, I can indeed see the incoming mails (but on that machine I do not have the "recovery" problem).
The help of a clear-thinking Apple fan would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks.
    From Ian in Paris, France

    Ian
    I worked it out.
Unhide your hidden files ( I used a widget from http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/developer/hiddenfiles.html)
    Go to your HD.
    Go to Users.
    Go to your House (home)
there should be a hidden Library folder there (it will be transparent)
Go to Mail in this folder
The next folder ( for me ) is V2
Click on that and the next one will be a whole list of your mail servers, and one folder called Mailboxes
Click on that and there should be a folder called recovered messages (server) . mbox
Click on that there a random numbered/lettered folder -> data
In that data folder is a list of random numbered folders (i.e a folder called 2, one called 9 etc) and in EACH of these, another numbered folder, and then a folder called messages.
In the messages folder delete all of the ebmx (I think that's what they were from memory, sorry I forgot as I already deleted my trash after my golden moment).
This was GOLDEN for me. Reason being, when I went to delete my "recovered file" in mail, it would give me an error message " cannot delete 2500 files". I knew it was only 1 file so this was weird. Why 2500 files? Because if you click on the ebmx files like I did, hey presto, it turned out that they were ALL THE SAME MESSAGE = 2500 times. In each of those folders in the random numbers, in their related message folder.
Now remember - DONT delete the folder, make sure you have gone to the message folder, found all those pesky ebmx files and deleted THOSE, not the folder.
It worked for me. No restarting or anything. And recovered file. GONE.
Started receiving and syncing mail again. Woohoo.
    Best wishes.

  • ICal Bug: "Show in Mail" link is broken

When creating a new calendar item from within mail (Yosemite 10.10.1 (14B25)) (Mail Version 8.1 (1993)) the "Show in Maill..." link opens the incorrect email. In fact, every "Show in Mail..." link from every calendar event points to the exact same email. Using right-click "Copy Link",  EVERY calendar event with a "Show in Mail..." link has the same link: message:%[email protected]%3E
I have since deleted that email and now all the links point to a blank email: a window opens with the same menu title as the original email, but the window is entirely empty.
The problem is NOT with Mail. It is with iCal. This is because even calendar events created months before that email now have the same link.

Same problem. It does not always open the same incorrect email. I haven't figured out the pattern. It seems to find one of the most recent emails that should be linked to a DIFFERENT calendar event.
I only notice it when trying to click the "Show in mail" link.
This feature is very valuable when it works. It used to be reliable on my MacBook Pro, but on iOS it would often transfer me to an email box but not to the specific email, which was useless.
Now it seems to work on iOS, but not on my Mac. I think the problem began with my Yosemite upgrade, but not sure.
This is a problem for me because I love creating events from emails.

  • I have new Ipod which shows mail, but when I punch to see all I see are the mail providers. The mail is set up correctly but I can't get rid of the providers to see my e-mails. Help??

I have new ipod touch which shows mail messages, but when I punch to access, all I get are mail providers. How can I get rid of mail providers and see my messages since the correct mail providers are set up already?

I do not know what you mean by "punc to see all mail provider".
And also what does "I can't get rid of the providers to see my e-mails".

  • ICal "Show in Mail-" Link broken!

We use extensively the "Show in Mail…" linking capabilities of iCal and since the upgrade to v.10.10.3 all linking has ceased operating. When a link (message:%[email protected]%3E) is initially placed on an event it seems to work for the initial click and then the attached link is lost with only the text – http://Show%20in%20Mail%E2%80%A6/ and this is totally useless. Where are these links recorded and what have they become useless. iCal Version 8.0 (2034.9) & Mail Version 8.2 (2098)
