Show information on LCD that uses a VGA connector or cable

I have a MacBook Air with Lyon OS. I have tried to show information on a LCD using the Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter, but i can`t. I only can to show power point presentations but excel, word or another information on those formats can´t be shown.
Why? What can i do?

Drag those applications off the right side of the MBair screen, they'll appear on the external monitor.
This is extended desktop mode.
Review the settings in System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement tab.

In my opinion you use wrong port. I am not 100% sure but I believe you have S-Video port on notebook and use this port to connect your notebook to the TV.
You need just the right cable. When connected enable S-Video port on TV.
Generally speaking the same is with VGA port.

Presentation Director shows slideshow on LCD although using extended display

Hi,
I'm using Presentation Directory and set a scheme to have an extended display.
When using PowerPoint's slideshow it is shown on the main LCD and I'm unable to show it on the extended display. I've tried several steps e.g. first move the presentation to the extnded and then slideshow but nothing helped.
Any ideas?

clone is the replication of the same thing, so basically your two screen displays exactly the same image. What you see on your laptop LCD is what is seen on the second display.

Reports to show which workbooks/sheets that use certain folders/columns

Hi,
I need to be able to create reports in Discoverer 10.1.2.45.46c that show which workbooks/worksheets use certain folders and preferably columns.
Can anyone point me in the right direction ?

Have you looked at the Admin Guide? - there is an end-user layer export included with the product that has a lot of this pre-built. If it doesn't have the exact report you need at least it builds a lot of structure to help you on your way. You just go into the Admin tool and import the provided EEX file.

This is a bit of information for folks that use Robohelp for Word.

I know this is all a day late and a follar short but for those folks that still use Robohelp for Word:
If your company is going to Windows 7, X5 will not work. You need to bump it up to at least RH8.
Even after you upgrade, if you use the tripane (winhelp_2000) view in RH for Word, it will not work on Windows 7 even with the microsoft patch. With the patch it will look like an older version of RH in winhelp_4. At least I have not been able to get it to display.
What will work is if you compile it in Webhelp. You will loose some links. I know I should be moving to Robhelp Html and I tried, but when I did that I got a lot of garbage at the top of all my topics, I lost all my external links and I would have to retrain my partner...
Now about links. My only complaint about Robohelp for Word was it's limited external linking capacity. If you use RH for Word you know you can only brouse to the net or to an htm or html document. It doesn't mean you can't link to a PDF or an excel spread sheet. You just can't brouse to it. You can manually enter the path. I just changed 740+ htm links to pdf links (pdf in same file as htm and the names were the same except for extension) and it worked. If you intend to try this back up.
Anyway, if this helps anyone great..if not thanks for letting me babble. I like my Robohelp for Word in Webhelp format.

It is worth adding that there is another way of continuing to work with Word - using Linked Documents in RoboHelp HTML. You create Word documents entirely independent of RoboHelp and then create topics by linking those documents in a RoboHelp HTML project.
You cannot create WinHelp that way but WinHelp is on life support and requires users to download a viewer, you cannot distribute it. It really is time to move on from WinHelp.
RoboHelp for Word is not getting much development and does not get the new features being added to RoboHelp HTML.

The secret to HDTV using a VGA connection

Took some trial and error, but I discovered how to get HDTV on my Toshiba 40" LCD TV using the VGA port. I thought I post here to save somebody else the trouble. Here's all you need to do:
1) Set your computer to drive the external monitor at 1280 x 768
2) Use the TV's remote to select PC as the input, then use the Pic Size to select Full Screen
This worked with a Toshiba 40E220U to fill almost the whole screen (I've got 1/2" black space at top and bottom) with 16:9 ratio high-def. Looks like I'm getting about 720P quality HDTV. Per the user manual, the TV supports two higher res modes thru the VGA port (1280 x 1024 and 1360 x 768) but my PC graphics adapter couldn't drive the 1360 x 768 and the aspect ratio was wrong for 1280 x 1024.
FWIW, the PC I am using is an older Toshiba laptop with ATI graphics. I used the Catalyst Control Center to run the second monitor at the 1280 x 768 as an extended desktop, and then drug my browser window over onto the TV to run. Works great w/ Netflix running in full screen mode. Cloning the computer monitor onto the TV did not produce good results.

I want to use the VGA input on my Tosh 40E220U also. But I have some roadblocks.
Both the HDMI ports are occupied [ Sat TV and Blue Ray ]
The Tosh TV is a second monitor on my setup [ for gaming ]
Originally,I set my ASUS Nvidia GTX 560TI Video card output to Dual Display.
One DVI from card goes to a 27 inch Monitor
The 2nd DVI from card , is 'adapted' DVI to HDMI and went to the Tosh TV HDMI input
Had 1920x1080 resolution on both Displays,,,, just what I was after,,,,,,,,,,works fine.
But I wanted to use the 2nd TV HDMI input for Blu Ray, so tried to connect from video card using a M to M , DVI To VGA cable, connected to VGA at TV.
Both 'Displayed' ,, but the resolution automatically bumped down to 1360x768 on BOTH displays,
and the display on TV was cropped off on all 4 sides, it was fine on monitor, just lower resolution.
Is there a way to produce 1920x1080 on the Tosh TV using the VGA input ?

The Touchsmart 300-1200 does not have a VGA output, you will need to buy a USB to VGA adapter from a 3rd-party vendor

First off, I love this site. Secondly, I have a macbook 10.6.6 and a LCD moniter with a VGA input. I see on the apple site there is the "Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter" and "Apple Mini DVI to VGA Adapter". both seem compatible but I want to pick the right one. any ideas?

Apple didn't ship a 2.4GHz MacBook until February of 2008. If that's the model you have, or an earlier model, it has a mini-DVI port which would take the mini-DVI to VGA adapter. To confirm, run System Profiler, click on the Hardware heading at the very top of the left-side list, and tell us what the Model Identifier reports.

How do i get it to display the correct internal usage now that photo stream is off? I also thought that icloud used another form of storage outside of the internal storage for photos, so im not exactly sure why the photos were ever in my internal storage to begin with. Does anyone know how that happens, or how to correct this problem? Im also trying to sync my ipad with my computer hoping that'll help, but nothing so far, its just taking a long time to back up.

If you are syncing now, that may correct the incorrect storage reading - assuming that it is incorrect.
You can also try something like this. While the iPad is still connected to iTunes - but after you sync - go into the Photos Tab in iTunes and toggle setting for Sync Photos From. Uncheck the setting and then check it again. See if that affects the capacity bar to show the correct storage amount.

Back up all data.
Unlock the Network preference pane, if necessary, by clicking the lock icon in the lower left corner and entering your password. Cllck Advanced, open the DNS tab, and change the server addresses to the following:
          8.8.8.8
          8.8.4.4
That's Google DNS. Click OK, then Apply.
In Safari, select
          Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. If you’re using another browser, empty the cache. Test. Any difference?
Notes:
1. If you lose Internet access after making the above change to your network settings, delete the Google servers in the Network preference pane, then select the TCP/IP tab and click Renew DHCP Lease. That should restore the original DNS settings; otherwise restore them yourself. Remember that you must click Apply in order for any changes to take effect.
2. I don't use Google DNS myself, though I have tested it, and I'm not recommending it or any other DNS provider; the server addresses are offered merely for testing purposes. There may be privacy and technical issues involved in using that service, which you should investigate personally before you decide whether to keep the settings. Other public DNS services exist.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

The missing apps could have been done by setting the Restrictions that can hid those apps. If the backup was made with those retrictions set the the Restrictions are also restored.
Thus, if you get it to work restore to factory settings/new iPod, not from backup

It equally shows on the screen that I have to set up the iphone before using it again. I followed the on screen display then get connected to a WiFi, but the response I was getting is that the Set up Server cannot be contacted please try again latter. I chose the option of using itune through my Laptop. The response I was getting here is that my iphone cannot be connected the itune store because my iphone was not found.
I am regretting why I updated the ios. Please, can someone advise me on what to do please.

It sounds like there’s an issue with Settings, the Notes app entry isn’t showing up as expected. Take a look at the article linked below and try restarting your iPhone 3GS.

I have the same problem too and tried alot of things like time zone , restarting or changing DNS of wifi connection to 8.8.8.8 still nothing happens .. !!
