Show invisible characters?

There is no option to show invisibles as far as I can see. Why is this?
I am re-designing a website. The client has no text to supply so I'm having to copy and paste the text from his old website. To be able to show invisibles would be good.

we call them non printing characters
this cant be displayed in Keynote, Keynote is a video based presentation application and does not have many typographic tools.
The sister application to Keynote is Pages which can show non printing characters so you should use that;
View > show > invisibles

  • How to show invisibles (non-printing characters) in Keynote?

    Great thanks to anyone who can help find what in Keynote '09 is clicked or keyed to show invisibles (non-printing characters).

  • Printing Invisible Characters...

    Good Morning:
    For training purposes, Is there a way to print the invisible characters in an InDesign document?
    I need to be able to show what characters are being used to demonstrate things like using the tab character, right indent tab character, indent to here, space, em space, etc...
    Please and thanks!
    Theresa

    Yes, Peter, you are correct. I need to be able to show examples of "good" and "less good" methods of typesetting. The screen capture works, but I was hoping to avoid taking all the screen shots. I would love to be able to print out a copy of the document with all of the invisible characters showing that I could demonstrate to our designers where the methods used could be improved. See example below:
    This is an example of a hanging indent being done using a "less than productive" method...
    Notice the manual line breaks followed by a tab character to create the indent on the next line. (GRRRRRR....)
    This is an example of a hanging indent being done using a “cleaned-up” method...
    By using the “Indent to Here” character after the first tab, all of the remaining lines in the paragraph will line up with that space
    regardless of the length of the line of text.
    This is just one of MANY examples that I have of mind-numbing methods that have been used.
    I know that in the Export to PDF dialog there is an option to include visible guides and baseline grids. I was hoping there was an option for "Print Invisible Characters".
    Thanks for all your help!!

  • Show formatting characters

    I am wondering if there is a way to view the formating characters or invisibles in a text box in keynote. There is an easy way in Pages I like that feature and would like it in Keynote as well.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello,
    Thanks for your post - and sorry for the late response. At the moment it isn't possible to show hidden characters in Buzzword, and I'm afraid I can't say whether it's high on our priority list. If it's a feature you would like to see in the service, I recommend posting it at our Ideas site (http://ideas.acrobat.com) where people can post, vote, and comment on ideas and suggestions for Acrobat.com functions and features.
    Thanks again!

    You could just try changing your Input Sources under System Preferences>Language & Text:
    But I kind of doubt that's going to work. It may be a hardware problem or a system problem. If you take it into Apple they might be able to determine which and might advise a reinstallation of System software. I would take it to an Apple Store or an AASP but, first, make sure that you have a backup just in case they suggest a clean install of the system.
    Good luck,

  • How to show Greek characters in Italic style

    How to show Greek characters in Italic style
    Hi all, I'm tryng to resolve a problem with the Greek characters
    I need to display labels in two languages, english or greek inside my report.
    At the beginning of the report I have a placeholder with the xml code : *<?param@begin:p_language?>*, so I can understand inside my report if the user chose the Greek or English, and then I have many placeholders (labels) which have to be written in Greek or English.
    If the language chosen is English, I don't have any problem to show my labels bold or italic in every fonts
    Inside the placeholder I wrote the following code:
    *<?xdofx:if $p_language = 'Ελληνικά' then 'Οργανισμός' else if $p_language = 'Αγγλικά' then 'Organization' end if?>*
    I can chose font, style and bold/not bold directly from Word and when I run the report in pdf I see exactly what I chose.
    If the language chosen is Greek....I see always the label in Arial, NOT BOLD and NOT ITALIC...
    In order to see Greek characters BOLD:
    a) I added (under the ADMIN tab/Runtime Configuration/Font Mappings/ ) a font named Arial and I addeda target Font named Arialbd.ttf under the directory: D:\Oracle\Oracle_Homes\BIP_101341\jdk\jre\lib\fonts
    b) I changed the font (from word) to Arial
    Now, ONLY with tha ARIAL font I can see my labels in greek bold, but I can't still see them in italic style.....
    So, I tried to force these condition inside the placeholder with the following code:
    *<?if:$p_language = 'Ελληνικά'?><xsl:attribute xdofo:ctx="inlines" name="font">Times New Roman</xsl:attribute><xsl:attribute xdofo:ctx="inlines" name="font-style">Italic</xsl:attribute><xsl:attribute xdofo:ctx="inlines" name="color">red</xsl:attribute><xsl:attribute xdofo:ctx="inlines" name="font-weight">bold</xsl:attribute>Οργανισμός<?end if?>*
    ...but I continue to see the labels in Greek only bold, red but not in Italic Style......
    Also adding another font called Arialbi.ttf (Arial bold Italic)...I can't see my labels in Greek bold with Italic Style....
    Anybody had the same problem with another alphabet different from the latin one ???
    Any help will be appreciated
    Thanks in advance
    Alex

  • Can I "show invisibles" in MUSE text?

    I'm working with a text column in MUSE, and every time I click in a paragraph the spacing above and below paragraphs goes haywire. I'm using paragraph styles with space above for subheads, and body text without for paragraphs, but it doesn't matter. MUSE seems to randomly add or delete space above and below as I click in the text. For instance, MUSE will close up the space above a subhead even though I have the paragraph style set to allow a line of white space. I have to move the curor up, add an extra return, and then it adds twice as much space, and then I delete the extra return, and it goes back to the way it should look. But the next time I click in that text box, it will do the same thing again.
    Is this behavior typical?
    I have not found a way to "show Invisibles" to see the codes for paragraph returns (¶) or spaces, etc.
    This is pretty basic stuff . . . I wasn't surprised when this was missing from the early Beta version, but it's hard to believe it's still not available.

    Is there an answer to this? It would be helpful to me as well.

  • When calling report in forms, only html format can show chinese characters

    To all experts,
    When I run report by calling run_report_object() in forms, only html format can show chinese characters. If I choose pdf format, garbage characters were shown instead of chinese characters. My settings on server are as follows:
    NLS_LANG=TRADITIONAL CHINESE_HONG KONG.UTF8
    FORMS60_REPFORMAT=PDF
    Do you know why? I hope to print report in PDF format as PDF turned out to be more regular in format. Is there any additional settings required?
    May experts here broaden my mind?

    Assuming that you are using version 6i, try using Oracle9i Reports it has support for multi-byte in PDF.
    By the way, Reports questions will get better response if you send them on the reports forum.

    You have two different ways of generating Japanese PDF files from Reoprts. One is font aliasing and the other is font subsetting.
    <font aliasing>
    You will need to have the following entries in uiprint.txt (example).
    [ PDF ]
    .....JA16SJIS = "KozMinPro-Regular-Acro"
    "MS UI Gothic".....JA16SJIS = "KozMinPro-Regular-Acro"
    You may need to download and install Japanese Font Pack from Adobe's web site (if your Acrobat is non-Japanese version).
    <font subsetting>
    You will need to add C:\WINNT\Fonts (or wherever your TTF/TTC fonts are installed) to your REPORTS_PATH.
    You will also need to have the following entries in uiprint.txt (example).
    [ PDF:Subset ]
    "Andale Duospace WT J" = "Aduoj.ttf"
    "Albany WT J"="AlbanWTJ.ttf"
    "MS UI Gothic" = "msgothic.ttc"

  • Type Show Hidden Characters doesn't display hidden chars, what to do?

    When I select Type > Show Hidden characters, the display does not change and the hidden characters stay hidden. Is there something additional that I need to do to see the hidden characters?

    Under View, change your Screen Mode to Normal. In any other mode, guides and hidden characters won't show.

  • Show hidden characters shortcut causes crash

    I'm running CS4 on Mac OS 10.5.8 (Indesign 6.0.4 which I believe is the latest).
    Lately, InDesign has started crashing when I use command+opt+I (the shortcut for show hidden characters), which I do A LOT for text design purposes. It doesn't crash every single time I use the key combo, but it's gotten to about 50% of the time, so that I'm afraid to use it. I'm very shortcut oriented rather than menu oriented, so please don't suggest I just stop using the shortcut (that's what my IT guy would suggest). It took me forever to even remember what the command was called that I was doing -- I ended up finding it by accident.
    Has anyone else run into this? Does anyone have any advice/suggestions?
    Thanks!

    I would start by Quitting Indesing, removing (putting on Desktop in case you have custom settings saved there) the Indesign Prefs;
    /Users/YOUR HOME FOLDER/Library/Preferences (Indesign Folder & .plist) and also removing the Indesign Cache folder;
    /Users/YOUR HOME FOLDER/Library/Caches.
