Show local formatting

Hello,
I use a script to detect in InDesign document where there are local formatting styles applied. I found this script under :
http://www.indiscripts.com/post/2010/05/show-local-formatting-in-indesign-cs4_
It works well but I am trying to detect also when :
the style by default is applied [ Paragraphe standard]
any style is applied  (ex: when text was copy and paste without style applied)
Do you know if it's possible to declare this thing ? Is there any method ?
Thanks in advance for your help

Apologies not necessary. That previewColor property has been a mystery for quite some time, and when I finally found out what it is supposed to do, it seemed to be so bug-ridden that I quickly steered away from it and I gave up attempting to make any sense of it. But your script just avoids those bugs popping up!
As I said in the IDS post: it's rather sad the Adobe team gave up on further developing this great hidden feature into a full one; and it's downright worrying that they left that legacy code in CS5 and later, so it could get infested with all those nasty little bugs. It leads me to think: how many more 'dead' code is there, in CS5, 5.5 and now in CS6? Could that be the reason later versions are so much slower and more buggy than my trusty CS4?
(Point in fact.
In CS4 and earlier on the Mac, all plugin resources are gathered into neat, small packages inside a single large indexed file. That makes sense, because every single plugin resource is just a couple of bytes long -- say, a single icon, or a single string "Menu Item Name". With CS5, the programmers suddenly took a Lazy Turn and wrote out every single resource as a single small file. That means that
1. (Annoying!) Since hard disk space is allocated by the kilobyte (typically 4Kb chunks), 10 tiny resources totalling 1 Kb now will suddenly occupy 40 Kb of disk space. Sure, hard disk space is cheap. Apparently, it's even cheaper than doing some programming -- or even just using the load code from the last version!
2. (Frustrating!) Locating, opening, loading, and then closing a single file takes time and resources, but after a file got loaded into memory, you can do with it whatever you want. Locating, opening, loading and then closing each of the dozens of small files per plugin takes lots of time. Is that the reason CS5.5 starts up so incredibly slow? Jongware sez: yeah for sure it won't help.
/Point in fact).

  • Date formatting: how to get specific fields showing in localized format?

    Hi all,
    I would like to take a Date object and format it into the localized format while at the same time specifying which fields should be showing. E.g. ensure that I always have, day of week, day of month, month, year, hours, minutes, seconds and milliseconds regardless of locality.
    Is it possible to do this and if so how?

    For that there is java.util.Locale

    Switched video settings on my Mac Mini and now the bloody thing shows "Invalid Format" on my TV (used as monitor for years) and I cannot get it to switch back.
    What can I do to get it to work again as more than an overpriced paperweight?

    Hello,
    Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), see if you can set a good resolution.

  • When you expand to show local and remote sites, in DW CS6 how do I get the local to be on the left?

    When you expand to show local and remote sites, in the previous verions of DW, the files type (local or remote) selected when not seeing both, automatically came up on the left.  I liked local when I am editing and when I am ready to upload I expand to see both local in remote.  Before, the one you had selected, in my case local, was always displayed on the left.  Now in CS6 when I have local selected before I expand, the local is on the right and remote on the left. For me that is not correct.  I find that having local on the left works best for me like reading, left to right, I want the local on the LEFT so I can put the updated from left to the remote on the right.
    -->In DW CS6 how do I get the local to be on the left?

    Thank you so much!  That did it!

  • GetAppletContext().showDocument() won't show local files for some people

    Hi,
    I have a reporting function that creates a pdf and stores on the users computer in the local temp drive and then displays the created pdf in a new browser window. Everything works fine except for some users it won't show local files. This is a signed applet and everyone has the same policy file. I can't work out why it works for some users and not for others, there doesn't seem to be a pattern in o/s, configurations etc. When i run the code locally on tomcat it works for me but when i upload to server it doesn't. There is no error message either. The pdf is definitely being created as well as you can check it in the temp directory. Code is below:
    void btnReport_actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
    try {
    String args[] = {"-pdf"};
    File f = File.createTempFile("SCReport", ".pdf");
    FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream(f);
    JCPrinter printer = SCPrintManager.getPrinter(args, fos);
    if (printer == null) {
    System.out.println("Printer is equal to null");
    // What has been selected?
    SCReport report = new SCReport(printer);
    Vector vectSubConsultant = createVectorFromScreenInfo();
    if (vectSubConsultant == null)
    return;
    report.addSectionForSC(vectSubConsultant, true);
    SCPrintManager.printDocument(report.getDocument(), printer);
    printer.getOutputStream().close();
    URL reportURL = f.toURL();
    URLConnection con = reportURL.openConnection();
    ReDirector().getAppletContext().showDocument(reportURL,"report");
    catch (Exception ex) {
    System.out.println("Error producing report");
    ex.printStackTrace();
    }

    Did you have any luck? As I am trying to do the same thing...

  • Remove Local Formatting AS or JS

    I'm working on a script (AS, but I can link to a JS script from it if necessary) that replaces italic, bold, bold italic, small caps, etc., with character styles. Once that's done, I'd like to go through an entire ID file and remove any other local formatting (kerning, extra space above and below, leading changes, etc.).
    I know how to do this from the Find/Replace dialog (search for TX, replace with TX), but can't quite figure out how to script it and have it do the same for all paragraph styles in a job.
    Thanks in advance, gurus!

  • JTextField - Show date format mask while inputing

    I have searched through the forums and I have not found an instance of someone try to show the format mask while a user inputs chars:
    ex: **/**/**** <-- Initialized
    1*/**/**** <-- After first integer
    10/3*/**** <-- After third integer
    I would also like the keep the caret position at the last integer and not always at the end of the input.
    Also if a user enters a "t"||"T" that it will automatically enter today's date.
    Is there a quick way? I have tried to use a DefaultStyledDocument but have not had success.

  • "Show Deprecated Formats ..." gone?! I'm not able to render

    So yeah got problem...
    I would like to render a comp in MP4 with a bitrate of ~50... but I could not find the option so I went to the output settings to "Show Deprecated Formats ..." to get it back, but then I realized that the option got ripped away... (why?)
    So I went to the Media Encoder... tried to export the AE comp I want to render... but it always fails... doesn't matter which way...
    I tried via drag and drop... draging the "main" comp into AME... nothing happens... it get stucked.
    I tried it via AE "Compositions -> Add to Adobe Media Encoder" then AE get stucked again and nothing happens...
    I tried to import the AE file to the Encoder by pressing the "+" symbol... then I get shown 4 comps of over 15 comps... and the "main" comp, the comp I would like to render does not appear in those four comps. I tried it several times... sometimes I even none of those comps, nothing happens...
    I tried to render it in AE via the standard presets... then I tried to convert those files in MP4 via Media Encoder... I tried every single video preset as far as I know each one is lagy, bugy and takes so many time to render... and the converter always failed as well...
    I'm so frustrated ...
    Where the hell is mah good old "Show Deprecated Formats ..."? I rly miss it, it worked perfectly fine, I never had problems with rendering MP4 files in AE!
    btw. I cutted a fraps file via Media Encoder into MP4 (H.264) for a friend of mine who would like to edit that clip... worked well for me but he can't open the file anymore... wrong codec...
    Everything worked well with the older CC version (with the old interface style) which I used some month ago before I reinstalled my OS (Win 7 64bit)... well and now... I only get problems with the new "bluish" CC... one problem after the other...

    "I tried via drag and drop... draging the "main" comp into AME... nothing happens... it get stucked."
    I tried it again... waited for a while... well after ages (15 min) of wait it finally worked... it appeared inside the queue of ME, then you just need to wait another ages for the dynamic link server... and there you go... lol, this program rules as hell! And the project isn't even done yet... 'm curious how long it will take if the project is done...
    please bring back the "Deprecated Formats" for AE!

  • IPhone shows local & GMT in calendar

    When I have appointments listed in the calendar, and I go to "EVENT DETAIL", I see both local and GMT times listed.
    This is very confusing.
    In the "World Time" App on the home page, I have only my local time listed.
    In the "General" "Date & Time" tab, I have "Set Automatically" and the only time
    zone listed is my local time.
    How do I get the calendar to stop showing Local & GMT?
    Thanks in advance.

    What is your Default Calendar?  For instance, if your Default Calendar is associated with a third-party email account (such as Outlook, Outlook Express, etc), then the setting is within the Calendar itself, not your device.
    Second, you may wish to check the settings for Time Zone Override.  This setting, if turned 'ON', locks the selected zone for all Calendar events - regardless of the time zone in which your device operates.....in the 'OFF' position, Calendar events will adjust according to the device location.
    To check:
    Settings
    Mail, Contacts, Calendars
    Scroll down to Calendars
    Near the bottom of the screen, you'll see the Default Calendar.  Check and make a different selection as needed (that is, assuming you have more than one Calendar option, such as with multiple email accounts);
    Next, ensure that Time Zone Override is switched to your desired setting.
    I noticed that you also said you'd synced your device with iTunes on your computer - you may want to check to see whether or not you selected Sync Mail, Contacts & Calendars - then verify the time/date/zone settings on your computer.  I usually recommend that users turn off the automatic sync feature within iTunes and instead opt to manually sync information because of issues like this.
    I hope this helps.

  • Cicsco asa clarification regarding show local host

    Hi Team,
    we are observing the no. of conn thru asa 5580 is getting increased and one a fine day it will stop sending/receiving traffics.
    firewall# show conn count
    1900000 in use, 2000008 most used
    As per the datasheet of this asa, the max conns permissible is 2 million (20 lacs). and the output shows that currently 1900000 connections are there and 2million+8 connections are most used.
    when i run " show local-host | include host|count/limit ", below are the outputs showing for max connections..
    local host: <172.x.x.x>,
        TCP flow count/limit = 35857/unlimited
        TCP embryonic count to host = 25
        UDP flow count/limit = 0/unlimited
    local host: <DC01>,
        TCP flow count/limit = 306/unlimited
        TCP embryonic count to host = 8
        UDP flow count/limit = 736807/unlimited
    local host: <DC02>,
        TCP flow count/limit = 246/unlimited
        TCP embryonic count to host = 2
        UDP flow count/limit = 582010/unlimited
    local host: <172.y.y.y>,
        TCP flow count/limit = 1/unlimited
        TCP embryonic count to host = 0
        UDP flow count/limit = 308412/unlimited
    These are the top 4 connections, i wonder should we consider only the tcp flow count or udp as well ??

    Hi,
    I have had to deal with a similiar problem only 2-3 times. And it was always a "contaminated" computer/server.
    In the latest case a single server in an environment with ASA5540 was pushing so many connections that it reached the maximum connections for that ASA model (400 000)
    First I would start checking what connections are beeing formed from the host that you listed above. I guess you should usually see some sort of well known port used for any service thats needed. Might also help if there was someone there that knows exactly what connections your servers etc. are supposed to handle.
    How many hosts are there in your network?
    What has been the normal trend with the connection count before you ran into this problem?
    How did you notice this problem? Connections werent being formed through the ASA?
    What have you done so far regarding this problem?

  • How can I change a local format (bol, italics) to character style

    Hi, I'm new in scripting. I need to change local formats to character styles in some documents, but I can't find the proper ID Object Model to do it in Java. Can somebody help me?

    Thanks for the help! It worked! But I have two problems now:
    1. The documents use Helvetica fonts (light, lightitalic, semibold, etc.) on headings, and the script doesn't recognize nor replace them as character styles. I guess I should replace those fonts with a compatible one (Times New Roman, perhaps). Is there any script that may do that?
    2. Some paragraph styles use bold by default, but the script generates a character style in that cases too. The perfectpreptex you send me attend to fix this problem, but the styles document crashes!!

  • How to format an account to show date format with MDX function @FORMATDATE

    Hello,
    I am working with an ASO cube where all accounts are set as numeric type. We have some accounts which hold date information for eg Date1 member which is a stored member will have data as 20120601 for June 1st 2012. In financial reports, i need to show this data as 06/01/2012 and using as essbase connection in FR, i cannot do this.
    While i was looking for a solution, i came across the MDX function called
    @FORMATDATE
    format_string_expression = MdxFormat ( string_value_expression )
    I was hoping that if i add a member say Date2 and make it dynamic and point it to Date1 and have this MDX format command to make the numeric data 20120601 show up as 06/01/2012.
    Can this work and if yes, what would be the MDX formula in this case?
    Any help in this regard will be a great help...the other alternative i have is to export this date data out into an oracle table, transform that data into to_date and after enabling the type measures in the outline, load it back in...i was hoping to avoid this extra route if this can be done with the formatting via MDX withing the essbase app.
    Thanks...
