Yes it is done through iTunes. The iPhone will never show up in Finder as a device. You should be able to copy them to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases and you can then sync them to the iPhone (or you could re-download them directly on the iPhone)

IPod won't show up on itunes or mac, freezes, and doesn't play bought songs

Okay i have four issues with my iPod
1. It won't show up on iTunes or on Mac desktop
2. When i plug it into the USB port it freezes and say 'Do Not Disconnect'. It will not come out of this
3. Every single song i have bought won't play on my iPod. They transfer fine, but when i click on a bought song it simply skips over it
4. I authorized this computer but songs still need authorizing, and i have already authorized them
So we bought a new Mac and i plugged in my 30 GB video iPod for the first time. It showed up in iTunes then so i synced it to our new computer. Then i tried to listen to my bought songs and they simply wouldn't play. The iPod just skipped over them. I had one song out of three hundred or so that were bought actually play. Then i tried reauthorizing my new computer and getting rid of all the old computers that had been authorized. That didn't work, and the songs that actually needed to be authorized wouldn't be authorized even when i clicked on them.
So then i unplug and just listen to it as is for awhile but then i try plugging it in again and it just doesnt show up on my Mac desktop or iTunes. And the screen becomes frozen with the same message, 'Do Not Disconnect' I wait for a half an hour for it to show up and it never does. I have no choice to unplug it and then it is still frozen with that same message. Five hours pass, and it is still like that. It finally goes off and then it simply doesnt work. So i plug it in to my charger and its fine except the whole not playing bought songs business.
Please i beg if you have any answers to any of these problems HELP!!!!!

IPod not showing up on my Mac or Itunes

I got a 30 gb video iPod this past Christmas and have had no problems until the other day. Now when I plug it in it doesn't show up on my Mac or in iTunes. It does show up in the System Profiler. I've tried everything in this article multiple times: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60950. The only success I've had is with restoring my iPod, but then of course I have to wait an hour for everything to get put back on there. Does anyone have a solution?

It's only the iPod video and iPod nano that cannot be synced over Firewire. They can be both charged and synced with USB.
If you're having trouble with the iPod being recognized after the latest update, try the following.
Windows users
Force the iPod into disk mode

Connect the iPod to the computer
Click Start > Run
Type compmgmt.msc
Click on "Disk Management"
Let the computer go through its connection process
Find the iPod's volume
Right click on iPod and click on Format
Set the format to FAT32
Leave the rest of the settings on their defaults
Do not perform a quickformat
Start the format
When it's done, your iPod should appear in iTunes, although it is recommended that you restore the iPod after formatting it. It's not recommended to do this on a 60GB iPod
Mac users
Open your Finder
Go to Macintosh HD
Go to Applications
Go to Utilities
Go to Disk Utility
Select your iPod's volume in the left-hand column
Click on the "erase" tab
Volume Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
Uncheck "install Mac OS 9 driver)
Click the erase button
It's recommended that you restore the iPod with the iPod Updater after running disk utility on it.

Is it because the new itunes looks different.
View > Show Sidebar
Then it should work just the same as on your old computer.

With your phone plugged in, open Image Capture and see if the iPhone shows up. If not, you are having a sync problem. If it shows up in Image Capture, but not iTunes, I'd delete iTunes and reinstall it.

AccountsHow many accounts are there?
2nd
From Home screen press Mail app
Press the top left button (next to Inbox)
You'll see all the Inboxes for the accounts present
You'll know either way whether one or more accounts has been setup.
SIDE NOTE: Not too sure about MobileMe though, might be integrated with iCloud, not sure.

Even though my Mac and my iPhone both use the same AppleID, music purchases from my iPhone no longer show up in iTunes anymore! When I click on "Check for available downloads" it says "All purchases have been downloaded for this AppleID". What gives?

That setting will only apply to new purchases. To redownload your past music purchases click on your name towards the top right of the iTunes screen and then click Purchased on the popup
You should (if they are still in the store) be able to redownload them from the screen that then shows.
Or on the Store tab in Preferences tick the 'show iTunes in the cloud purchases' tickbox and any music that isn't currently downloaded should show in the Music part of your library with a cloud icon against it for redownloading - click the cloud icon to download it.
Or connect your phone and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over from it.

AirTunes stopped showing up in iTunes but fine on mac.

Have done a search but can't find this problem.
We had a network with one PC, one mac, 1 x wireless router and 2 x airport express (for airtunes).
After updating iTunes on the PC (maybe a coincidence), iTunes can no longer find any speakers. They still show up on the mac.
When trying to play with the airtunes setting on the PC itunes crashes.
I have now added a new PC laptop to the network and that is experiencing the same problem.
I have been trouble shooting and tried taking the wireless router out of the equation but no joy.
Any ideas as what to try next?
PC - XP
Laptop - Windows 7
Airport Express latest firmware

I guess that your Airport Utility also can't find your Airport when scanning?
