As I start up my laptop it shows press ESC key to startup menu ..and show nothing and repdately keeps on asking the same press ESC key to startup menu...help me out..

Laptop shows "press esc key for startup menu". Wont start up normally?

Hi,
I have an hp pavillion g6 laptop (Product QE05UA#ABA, Model: g6-1c35dx)
. For a while its been causing problems, it's been slow, showing viruses, and now it wont start up.
I left it on sleep mode last night, once i opened it up today it was turned off. I figured it lost battery which usually doesnt happen, but I turned it on and it shows a blinking screen that comes on and then turns black, over and over. the blinking screen shows "press esc key for startup menu".
Also, the caps lock key blinks once when that screen comes on.
When I push "esc" it shows this:
F1 system info
F2 system diagnostics
F9 boot device options
F10 bios setup
F11 system recovery
Enter- continue startup
I've tried them all, including some tests in "bios setup"
Dont know much about computers, and this is one that i need so help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion g6-1c35dx Notebook and issues with starting.
Try to turn on the computer you start to press F11 repeatedly till the menu opens. You can do a system restore. System restore will help if something automatically updated and did not go well on the Notebook. The document also gives you information on what to do if Windows does not start normally.
When performing a System restore please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices as they can cause issues.

HP H8-1260t wont start or boot up...freezes on Press the ESC key for Startup Menu message on screen

after two days, I came back home and noticed my computer was on and saw nothing on screen except a dark bluish-black screen and i tried to get in but looked like it freezes, so I long press the power button and I turn it back on and one thing that was he hp logo and the message at the bottom cnter...Press the ESC for Startup Menu...so i kept pressing the ESC and nothing happens. I removed the battery and hard drive drive and put it back on...but the same screen and message appears. i tried pressing the F11, also F8, F10 but nothing happen. i also removed the USB but nothing happen too...
Please help me how to put it on a booting mode. im stuck on the same message.

What USB are you referring to?
Did this happen after an update or an electrical storm?

Press the esc key for startup menu

My HP mini netbook won'tload to the start-up page. I'm using Windows 7. I get the following messgae "Press the Esc key for startup menu" but when I do nothing happens.

Did you follow the steps in the last post? Did anything change? If you cannot get into the BIOS, then it is done. Try a BIOS recovery. Some of the newer computers motherboards have a BIOS recovery but I cannot tell if that is one.

Startup Menu not working

Hi,
My laptop is Pavilion DM4-1160US. I had windows7 and when I tried to install Ubuntu, Windows7 damaged and Ubuntu installation also not completed. Now while restarting the system, I preseed Esc key and Startup Menu came. But none of the options in StartupMenu otherthan F1(system information) and Enter key is working. I need to enable F9 option so that I can select boot from Pendrive option and install ubuntu.

Firstly, welcome to the HP Support Forums!
From what you describe the issue is related to the failed Ubuntu installation wiping the boot records. It sounds the like the notebook is UEFI which is typical now, and will only show UEFI enabled devices on the boot table, otherwise you need to enable legacy mode in your bios.
I did some searching and found the following pages on the Ubuntu support site. The main thing is to make your pendrive UEFI compatible so it will show up as a valid boot device for your computer in UEFI mode.
Try these paying particular attention to the UEFI and BIOS one and it should help you with your installation.

When do i press c during startup?

When are you supposed to press the "C button" during startup? I have tried right after the Startup chime, right after the Silver/gray screen appears, right after the Apple Logo appears also on the sliver/gray screen. I have tried everything. Does anyone know when to press it? I am trying to boot my system so I can return to the Startup menu so that I can use the application "Disk Utility" to repair my disk permissions and to correct them. Can anyone help me?

Put your install DVD into the drive and reboot. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That will force your MacBook to boot from the optical drive.
Once it has finished booting and you are at the Install screen launch Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
Although to Repair Permissions you can use the Disk Utility application in the Utilities folder in your Applications folder. You only need to use the install disk to use the Repair Disk function. That's because Disk Utility can't use the startup disk to Repair Disk only Verify Disk.

Startup menu comes automatically at boot

Hi experts! I'm facing this problem since few days, that everytime i boot my laptop i get startup menu automatically displayed on my screen and after pressing enter two to three times then the OS starts loading. And also my mouse touchpad sometimes get freezes which really sucks. So please help me out with these issues.

Add ufw to your daemons list in /etc/rc.conf (at the last line).
In my rc.conf I put ufw just before crond.

Need to perform a hardware test, but pressing D during startup is fruitless

I've got some sort of glitch I need to work through. I'm assuming it's hardware related, and I directly suspect the GPU, or maybe a lose connection thereto (symptoms are coming and going). Symptoms coincided directly with an OSX update to 10.9.4, but that might just be incidental. Unfortunately, upon startup, I can't load into the Hardware Tester/Diagnostics tool... pressing 'D' during startup leads me to looking at a grey screen for about half a minute, then the MBP just decides to load into OSX. I've tried to perform this test about ten times now - same result each time.
Here's a couple of pictures of my screen when the issue is playing up. It's obviously rendering the computer unusable:

Yes. In one of those photos i've provided it's the OSX recovery screen that is bugging out. I seem to have a 50/50 hit rate in getting through - like I said - the symptoms are coming and going. Once within OSX recovery menu i've fired up disk utilities to make sure i'm not dealing with a dying HD - disk utility is suggesting my HD is in perfect health and perfect working order.
I just followed through with reinstalling the 10.9.4 combo update too - I still can't perform a hardware test.

Cannot get to startup menu options

Hi there,
I bought a used HP Pavilion g6 series notebook, but turned out that it has a password, so I created a CD to overpass it, the thing is that cd is not stating by it self on startup, so I tried to go through the startup menu and change Boot device options, and here was the problem !! I have to press F9 to Access it but its not working , I tried all other options on the startup menu but nothing is working. What can I do !! pls help, I'm not an expert and don't understand big words, so pls take it easy on me when you answer : ) .

Where is the programme startup menu, I want to quit some applications

I am having an issue with Vodafone Mobile Broadband, it automatically starts up and now it is showing Select Airport Network and I don't appear to be able to quit it, therefore I would like to remove it from my startup menu but I can't seem to find the startup menu.
Because of the above issue I don't appear to be able to shut down my macbook either and therefore I can't update my software.
Any suggestions would be useful.

Launch Activity Monitor to quit a specific process. Then use Apple Menu/System Preferences/Users & Groups to remove startup items for each particular login account.

"Press esc to exit full screen mode" stays on screen, wont disappear, I have to refresh page many times

I have tried many things and with this new computer build I did not want to try any of the 3rd party fixes for this issue. I see a ton of posts regarding this issue some referring to the problem as the creator of the game or video, some referring to Why is this still an issue why hasn't this been fixed its been years.....
So I am starting a new discussion as I cant find any relevant in time fixes for my issue all I see is over two years old with no real fixes for the issue. So I hope I am just missing it.
Anyways here is the issue I would love to just disable it make it go away entirely. I know I need to press esc to exit full screen mode. Most of the time it does disappear and that would be fine too but while I am watching hulu videos in my queue and escaping between full screen mode and normal mode to add next show to queue and then going to next show in queue sometimes I have to refresh the page to make the bubble disappear.
Is there anything I can do? and I quote many users before me in stating "Why is this stilll an issue?"

Hmmm lets see well in reply to your answer and comments. I only use firefox. I wrote an app about 6 months which without any user intervention could really mess up chrome. I could download passwords from chrome unencrypted so I do not use chrome I avoid it like the plaugue. Internet Explorer kind of the same issue but in reverse seems to be pretty secure but huge and klunky. So I only use firefox. I just refreshed it which fixed an issue I was having with a sign on issue with swagbucks ext add on not remembering who I am and so on. I will see if this has any effect.
To continue on this issue though if you know hulu at all. If I pick the next show I want to watch manually, which would technically load a new web page as a "refresh" It always disappears, However if I use the queue option or auto watch mode I really don't know how to properly discribe this. If I just let it finish a show and it automatically picks the next show. Then I assume that flash player programming is causing the web page change and so somehow yes the webpage changes but the "refresh" does not occur or inother words the flash player keeps running doesn't get refreshed and over time several things occure. If i watch about 5 shows in this automated matter flash starts to really eat up my memory and then the esc message starts to not disappear.
Also randomly I can not tell which ads cause this of course, I would love to be able to give you or hulu more info but There is an add that gets ready to play during a show. This add causes my antivirus to throw a fit and blocks it, then flash player crashes I would assume because of the failure to load the add and play it.
I understand your description of why it is the way it is and that makes since. But for us wire cutters or cable cancelers, I watch tv through online use and for whatever reason flash is the only option. and having to get off my couch and go over to my computer to refresh the webpage and or reload cause of crashes is getting old.

This is a brand new machine that I just purchased from Apple. It was delivered yesterday
The old computer is an old PowerMac G5, but my OS X install disc is a retail version of 10.5.
I also tried the OS X 10.5 install disc that came with my MacBook Pro (2.6 Ghz Intel Core 2 Dual).
Same issue - nothing but a grey screen when the system tries to boot from the DVD

Disable Show content Guide at startup & Automatically update

Can I disable the setting 'Show content Guide at startup' from the 'Player Preferences...' menu. I know how to do it in the menu, but I want to change this option for 100 pc's at once.
Same problem for the 'Check for updates automatically' option in the 'Quicktime Preferences...' menu.
Is this possible via the registry or via a textfile?
Can someone help me, please?

rEFIt will basically do the same as holding the option key,I believe it's defaulted(?) to give the boot screen when you cold start showing any available boot drives, but it won't help with Windows auto restart after updating. There may be an option to do so as there's a lot more to rEFIt then I use so you may be able to have it show up at restarts also.

Closing window by pressing ESC

Hi All,
I am using Object oriented ALV Grid.To validate user input inside the Grid i used the DATA_CHANGED event.
Inside the Method handled_data_changed (Method for the event DATA_CHANGED) validating input and showing error by Using the method ADD_PROTOCOL_ENTRY of class CL_ALV_CHANGED_DATA_PROTOCOL and for display the error message DISPLAY_PROTOCOL.
It is showing the error message in separate dialogue window.But when press close icon(X) then only it will close the window.I want to close the window even i press ESC key.While pressing ESC key,it is not closing that error screen.kindly help me to perform closing window while pressing ESC key..
Kindly anyone can give some related hints atleast for my question.

Applications don't show on CC drop down menu

After using CC for a while, suddenly available applications don't show on the drop-down menu on an iMac; I can run the apps but they perform inconsistently, sometimes crashing, sometimes the cursor behaves erratcly or don't allow to create pdf files. I've tried reinstalling CC, reassigning the CC seat, but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?

This worked for me.
Step 1:
Open Finder application.Click on Go>Go to Folder.
Type /library and press return key.
Then navigate to Application support/Adobe folder.
Right click on Adobe folder and select 'Get info'.
Under Sharing and permissions, click on Lock icon and enter
Administrator user name and password.Click on symbol, select Admini
strators and click on Add, then give 'Read and Write' permissions to Administrators.
Click on symbol again, select current logged in user name and click
on Add, then give 'Read and Write' permissions to Administrators.
Give 'Read and Write' permissions to Everyone, System, Admin, users.
Then click on Gear icon and select the option 'Apply to Enclosed items'.
Step 2:
Open Finder application.Click on Go>Go to Folder.
Type ~/library and press return key.
Then navigate to Application support/Adobe folder.
Please give full permission as mentioned above.
Step 3:
Open Finder application.Click on Go>Go to Folder>>Type /library and
press return key>>navigate to Application support/Adobe folder folder.
Locate the folder named AAMupdater and rename it to AAMupdaterold and
OOBE to OOBEold.
Step 4:
Open Finder application.Click on Go>Go to Folder>>Type ~/library and
press return key>>navigate to Application support/Adobe folder folder.
Locate the folder named AAMupdater and rename it to AAMupdaterold and
OOBE to OOBEold.
Once you are done with the above steps, you can try launching the
Creative Cloud desktop application.
If you still face the same issue, please try the next steps.
(These steps were not necessary for me.)
Step 5:
Click on the below link to download the cleaner tool.

eativeCloudCleanerTool.dmg
Select the product as Creative Cloud and CS6, then select Creative Cloud
desktop/Adobe application manager and select clean.
Step 6:
Once you are done with the above steps, login to
https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud and try downloading
the Creative Cloud desktop application.
