Show search result in Portal navigation context?

My question is if it is possible to show a search result in the context of the portal navigation?
After a standard search with TREX a KM-document/folder opens in a new window without any navigation context (and portalframework). We find this not very userfriendly. We use the SAPPortal/KM (NW04 SP17) as an Intranet-solution. The KM-folderstructure is similar to the portal navigation so every folder/document is shown only once in the portal navigation. There is one portal role which contains all the KM-navigation-iViews to the different KM-folders.
I have searched the forum but could not find any information. Any help/ideas are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

We have just made a proof of concept for this and it works. Please understand that this is SUCH a great thing we have implemented that in this special case I won't post details about the solution on SDN - but be sure you can always ask btexx to implement it for you
The solution does not restrict to KM content, but catches all content displayed within the portal (if you want, restricted to certain roles)!
If you are at TechEd, we certainly can have a talk about it, also give you a live demonstration. See you in Amsterdam?!

Interesting. I didn't want to use Apple's default folders. I want to make my own. I tried chmod -R 700 on my account and that seems to work. Is that enough? I don't see Staff anymore through Get Info.

Netflix on Apple TV not showing search results

Hey, a few months ago the Netflix search function on my Apple TV stopped working. I do the search in the search box, but the area on the right, where the search results are supposed to show, remains black. I have restarted, signed in and out of Netflix, tried all I can think of with no results. This is only a Neflix on Apple TV issue, as all other Apple TV apps have the search function working fine.

I had this exact problem and finally thought to check online at the Apple forums here for an answer. This came up after looking at one or two other questions in the search.
I'm happy to say that the restore of the Apple TV worked. Search in NetFlix on the Apple TV now shows results.
My Apple TV is the latest generation I think, have had it for almost two years. It was already upgraded to the latest Apple TV software. I'm guessing that a bug snuck in at some point over the years and over multiple software updates.
Upon restore, I noticed a feature I didn't realize existed, which is that you can start using the Bluetooth in your iPhone or iPad to immediately help with Apple TV setup. You need Bluetooth on and to place the device near/on the Apple TV. This is a feature I know I've seen many commenters request, but apparently not realize this was possible? Or maybe this is a new feature in the latest software update?

My Google preferences are set to show search results in a new window. However, when I do a Google search, it Firefox always opens 2 new windows with the (same) results. How can I fix this?

I did not change my Google settings. I always have had it set to open search results in a new window. Some time ago, it started opening up two windows that have identical url/content.

That issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Export PCUI search result to Excel over Context Menu / right mousebutton

Hello
I am using CRM 5.0 and PCUI
I want to export the search result into Excel, on Servicetickets (BUS2000116). When i press the right mousebutton on the searchresult, I get the option Export to Microsoft Excel.
When i choose this option, Excel opens and i get the error message "Unable to open ......./mainDH.do. The Internet site reports that a connection was established but the data is not available."
and the cell A1 says ExternalData_1.
In Thread Export PCUI search result to Excel, Manuel Rodriguez told "Standard Export to excel is avaible in PCUI 5.0 and dont works in PCUI 4.0.". But I still can't make it work.
Anybody an Idea how I can do it work ???

Hi Thomas,
you should not use the right click and Export to Excel. I think this is a functionality of Internet Explorer for HTML Tabes. Using that functionality you will only get the actual table exported. Do you see the Button "Download" in the Toolbar? That's the export to Excel functionality introduced in CRM 5.0.

Showing search results in multiple pages

Hi,
i want some logic for following requirement..I have a jsp page in that i will enter empno,empdept..and i will click on search button..when user clicks on search we will get some search results..i want to display these results based on maximum rowsize mentioned bye the use..if he selects 10..it should display 10 per page and a next button like java forum..if he clicks on next it should display the next results.like wise untill endof resultset..and these results should be displayed on the same page og jsp.
plz give me some logic for these req..

This has been asked several times in the past couple of months. Search for "Paging" on these forums. Example:

And others suggest grabbing only the number of records from the DB that you will display.

How to use portal navigation context

Hi,
I have 4 roles in the portal.
Out of these, one role name is invisible but iview in that role is visible on left side above detailed navigation.
It is a URL iview, which contains link of another web dynpro iview A . (This path is set through navigateAbsolute).
Now the problem I am facing is, if I am in any of the other three roles, accessing some application B in the detailed navigation of that role, and after that if I click on the web dynpro iview As link in URL iview, though this application opens up in the content area, but still B remains highlighted. I want that the moment A link is clicked, that application should open up and at the same time role highlighted should be Home.
While doing R&D, I came across navigation target and context target. Navigation target is the path of application you want to open and context target is the path which can be set some other value which will then be highlighted.
But I am not getting how to use it. I tried different ways, but not able to figure out.
Can anyone please help in this regard.

Thats a good idea. I have a Button Click Event, and on Action of it, I am doing a set of operation based on some condition and at the end of the operation i need to redirect to the logoff.jsp
<b>The LinkToURL in place of Button is not allowed</b>.The requirment is to have the button compulsory and i need to do those set of operation onclick of that button.
<b>Still i can use LinkToURL as a hidden element and can call the logoff.jsp and the end of the above operations on click of that button. Is it possible to achive that...</b>Please share your thoughts.

SEARCH RESULTS NOT SHOWING THE NAME OF DOCUMENT

When I search for a document on the top level, the results in my case are relevant but they do not display the document name, meaning I have to go into the document to check if it is the one I'm looking for. For some reason the name of the file is displayed
in results as the first line of the document. I use a document template for letters meaning that the search results gives as list of documents that all have the same name displayed. This renders the search function almost useless as all the results are showing
the same name. Is there a way to change the results page to display the name of the document??

Based on your description, my understanding is that you want to show search results by document name instead of the Title.

How To Eliminate Separate Search Results Window in iTunes 11

From my perspective (based upon how I use iTunes to create playlistsby searching for titles, listening, and selecting), the new format in iTunes 11 of showing search results in a separate window was totally unworkable. Fortunately, I found a CNET article that said how to revert to the old method. To disable the new format, and have search results show up in the body of your music library, all you need to do is this:
Click on the magnifying glass in the Search box in the uppper right corner of the iTunes screen
The first item in there is "Search Entire Library", and has a check mark next to it
Click on it to remove the check mark
That's it! Now your Search results will show up in the library itself, as it always has.
Until I found this quick fix, I was ready to trash the new iTunes and replace it

I found this article with the explanation on how to find this again. In the upper right corner of itunes (only when an item is downloading) you will see a downward facing arrow inside a gray circle with a blue status bar type line below it. If you click that it will show you your downloads progress.

Google search is not search results

Google search is not showing search results, earlier it used to show.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.

You can try this:
1. Edit page
2. Create a custom text file and insert the following CSS, which will make the Quick Launch menu visible:

Save the file, naming it showQuickLaunch.txt. Store the text file in the Style Library or on the server.

Disable Navigation framework of BW iview in portal page of KM Search result

We have BW Bookmarks in KM as Portal pages and recently we implemented search_from_here option for searching bookmarks of the KM folders. Trex index has been created. Search results of Trex displays the links of the searched BW Bookmarks.
When clicking on these links BW iview is embedded in the Portal page and is displayed along with header framework.
Is there a way we can customize link in the search result to launch in headerless portal window.
Tried to maintain Content link parameters option '3' to display in new headerless window of the bookmark and also maintained NavMode=3 option in the content link of the Bookmark properties under access links but didnt work.

MOSS Search Plugin shows no results

We're using the MOSS Search plugin as described in the "How-to-Guide" in https://cw.sdn.sap.com/cw/docs/DOC-99433
to use Enterprise search of MOSS.
We have deployed using have deployed the MOSS search plugin into the portal server and proceed with the configurations.
1. Deployed the .par and .ear files
2. Enabled Index service for MOSS Search
3. Created HTTP system
4. Created Website
5. Created Web repository
6. Created KM Windows System connector (alias same as HTTP system) for user mapping for my own ID
7. Created config file with same name as system alias as system connector and save in KM
8. Created virtual index and attach Web repository as its datasource
9. Enabled "Basic authentication" at IIS of MOSS.
However, searching using KM displayed no search results. Only indication of error is indicated in
the application log - "Method internalIndexDocuments() not supported on CustomerSearchIndex implementation".
Default trace logs (after increasing severity to debug for several related logs) also show:

Maybe the PDF page content is an image of the source text?
If so, try OCR to provide content.
Or, if all is renderable text, play with the TouchUp Text tool (Acrobat Pro).
Select some text, right click to open the context menu, select Properties.
In the Text tab, change to a font that is available on the local machine.
Other than having the source content changed so that standard fonts are used and then making a new output PDF there may not be much else possible.

How to display the detailed navigation with the Search Results

Hello Gurus,
I was able to display the search results in the same frame rather than opening the new window and getting it displayed. Now when the search results are displayed, my detailed navigation and portal favorites etc.. all the iviews are automatically suppressed.
Please help me displaying the search results with Navigation Panel.

What do you mean by suppressed?
Is it gone, or just closed?
If it is just closed, you can try 2 things:
1. Check if the property "Initial State of Navigation Panel" of the page has any influence.
2. There is a javascript method that opens it.
You can see it by importing the file '<b>com.sap.portal.layouts.framework.par.bak</b>'.
Navigate to
System Administration -> Support -> Support Desk -> Portal Runtime -> Browse deployment
then the folder
ROOT/WEB-INF/deployment/pcd
and press download.
Import from par to Developer Studio, and check the javascript files under dist/PORTAL-INF for a function called something like 'expandTray'.

Search Results - Filter Results By: - Show More ...

When I use the "Show More ..." option under one of the "Filter Results By:" groups, it works as expected. When I then select one of the items to filter by, it again works as expected. However, if I hit the back browser function or select the "Unfilter" option, the "Show more ..." expansion is restored. I suggest it return to the "Show Top 5..." presentation (as before the individual filter was selected).

You are right, I thought about this BADI we already enhanced it for BP authorization (like many people did in this forum). However my concern is that this BADI gets called like a million times before it gets back to the search result page and I am just not sure of the impact on performance. So I was thinking if anything else is possible at UI level. But may be I don't have many options here :(. Also if I select the multiple values for the field in the BADI it comes up in debug mode
MARKETINATTR I EQ "VALUE1"
MARKETINATTR I EQ "VALUE2"
it is searching for both individually, so it is basically working as a select option, not sure how I can combine them both.
Also you mentioned that searching BP on marketing attr is not possible in standard, but I think it is possible and we are searching on it. I know we have enhanced BP search for some other purposes but not for marketing Attr. as I can clearly see a standard field for MARKETINATTR in the context of BPMAINSEARCH IMPL class and when I use it in the search field it does pop up another view when I hit f4 on the possible values where I can select my attr set, attribute & value. I am on 7.0 by the way.
